I try to leave the gvg crowd be, but honestly many come off as elitist. Secondly, tonight there was a huge gvg event in tc bl, where we were fighting to save our keep. We could not get help in the bl, and when we asked for help to save our keep we were told to leave the bl. This is way too early in the match to be throwing the match.

1. You are facing 2 T1 servers…you aren’t winning this week.

2. TC BL will have SoR v BG GvGs not TC GvGs

It is not about winning it is about not quitting.

BG/SoR/JQ should just be given their own league. Nobody else has coverage and queues map(s) 24 hours of the day :<

TC should stop whining in every thread about leagues and take their upcoming beatings. Like I point out, when TC stacked themselves far beyond any competition outside of T1, you had the same complaints lobbed against you that were dismissed out of hand.

Now its too late for your precious community…. there will be many slayings of roleplayers and dolyaks in your future. Get used to it because it seems almost every week you will be facing a t1 server.

You have no right to pass judgement on any server. SoR has and always will be a server for bandwagoners and scavengers.

First the patch from hell which was a big f you to the entire community ignoring a year’s worth of feedback and now this arrogant snub on top of it?

They need to replace top management in the company for attitudes like this to change. This is a much bigger issue than one employee’s behavior.

I was recently asked by a friend to come up with a shatter and condition damage heavy build for their mesmer. My experience with mesmers is limited but i came up with the following.

1)Be adequate for dungeons and other miscellaneous pve
2)Be efficient in small group roaming and moderate guild play in WvW
3)Have high survivability
4)Be able to do consistent damage

The requirements are fairly nebulous but i think are achieved by the build. I just wanted to see what input i could get to improve the build.

To go over some of my choices.

*High survival with consistent damage screamed Dire stats to me.

*For the sake of dungeons i wanted a supportive element and a variety of conditions so staff seemed natural.

*Scepter seemed like a good choice for clone generation for the sake of shattering.

*Wanted to make out on the stun breakers for survival sake and each stun break brings a useful secondary component to the table.

*Torch seemed a good lite condition clear and source of additional confusion and blind which paired with traits for blind= confused seemed too good to pass up.

*I am simply a fan of perplexity runes.

No Ascended Armors in WvW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ascended Armours would be the end of any competitive WvW and destroy the spirit of the game. We are talking about 6 objects not a single weapon that is already a very bad thing. People without ascended armours would have a huge disadvantage so WvW only players would be forced to farm a lot of time in PvE just to create a single set for a single character. I hate PvE. I just bought this game for WvW and I don’t want to farm. Don’t even dare about to talk of materials all droppable in WvW because we all know that dragonite ore drops in WvW are ridiculous and moreover you need like 250 g to craft a single ascended weapon.

So if you don’t want to destroy WvW you must downgrade ascended armours to exotic when a player join WvW. This way PvE players would have their advantage but would not affect competitive game.

I know that you won’t do this because ascended armours are a good way to incentive the buying of gems but remember your promise of a farming free experience especially in WvW.

An ascended six-piece of rings, trinkets, amulets, and back already exist. /thread

We would like to hear an apology from the dev himself not some other dev talking in behalf of this dev.

That dev is never going to be allowed to speak to players again. Ever.

It’s just funny how unproffesional the ANet devs are especially the WvW devs.
They’re so out of touch with the community they are trying to push updates nobody wants but get all touchy and emotional when we don’t like them.

The WvW Devs don’t seem terribly unprofessional- unless i am missing something which i may be. Are you confusing the anet employee in the screen shots to be a wvw dev. And who make up the “we” you are referring to?

A couple weeks ago I came back to GW2 after a break of a few months. I came back to something that was drastically worse then what it was when I left.
A little background. I am on Dragonbrand and I am an avid WvWer.
So anyway, one of the things I enjoy most about this game is the WvW. Before I left, I could jump in and usually find something going on anytime of the day. Ever since I came back though, everything is dead. Dragonbrand used to be pretty good in WvW and could at least put up a fight with any server matched against it. Now it has devolved into an outmatched, outnumbered mess. Even when there are more then 10 people on, the best that can be hoped for is camp raids or an occasional tower cap when the other servers we are fighting feel like throwing us a bone.

I know that the cause of this was the move onto T1 servers by all the WvW guilds. Something should have been done to counter the move that should have been expected from the changes implemented into WvW. Maybe it’s time to start looking into merging servers or restricting numbers or something. Hell, open back up the free server transfers again. I’d have no problem moving if that is what it took, but I sure as hell am not going to pay for it. You guys broke the game. I’m not going to pay extra for your screw up.

I guess the message here is you broke the best part of the game and need to get the problem fixed. And communicate that you are doing something. The best way to make someone give up on something entirely is to ignore them.

The Shortest Road to GvG

The GW2 GvG community doesn’t need a lot of support to thrive. We can provide ANet the opportunity to expand their player base with our unique game type and video content. All we need is the space to organize our fights.

Why ANet should support the GW2 GvG community:

  • Unique game type – There is currently no other MMO that offers large scale fights on even terms like GW2 did. The GW2 GvG community can offer these players a place to go, both within and out of the game.
  • Video content – Almost every GvG is recorded. Stream numbers were nearing sPvP tournament streams before the orb buff came about. Higher video and stream numbers bring more attention to GW2 itself, bringing more players to the game as a result.

What we need:

  • Space – An instance where one team of up to 30 can fight against another of the same size. Flat land with generic ground textures, nothing fancy. Around 10,000 range in length and 3,000 in width (roughly larger than the area behind south supply in the WvW Borderland maps). Allow any guild or group from one server to challenge one from any other server.
  • WvW gear options and balance – Most of the GW2 GvG community finds the sPvP gear options too restrictive. Use WvW balance and gear instead of sPvP’s.

That’s all we need. It’s a small risk to take. We can organize our own fights. We built our own ladder. Give us the soil and we’ll grow.

I wonder how many GvGers would be insulted or upset over being given a flat generic map…

Yes it is a conspiracy how dare they keep servers ranked 7-12 from fighting BG,SoR, JQ, TC and all the other servers that would ruin a week of pvp. Locking the top 4 in a smaller tier will be better for everyone.

Dissatisfied with Tequatl

Tequatl has all the elements of traditional raid bosses and then some. That “and then some” is the problem. The timing of the encounter, the technical limitations, and the shear group size needed makes tequatl feel less refined if you have a traditional raiding past. Tequatl is also not more difficult than most WoW bosses. He is maybe entry tier difficulty but encounters like Teq are a good and fun direction to go if proper considerations are made. Teq needs to be a learning experience for his designers. Most players will sacrifice immersion for better mechanics/play.

I never said difficult, but more complex, as in, it takes more groups oriented on different things beside boss. Also, from what i’ve seen difficulty in wow comes from one shot mechanics, and i tough there was consensus that one shot mechanics are bad and should be moved away from.

I was speaking generally about the difficulty, not in direct response. I will say though that complexity adds to difficulty but something can be difficult and simple. Also “difficulty in wow comes from one shot mechanics” is an inaccurate statement- i would refrain from it unless you have had ample experience; a lot of difficulty in WoW is resource management.

You make a super-hard open world event that requires coordination of upwards of 100 people with:
– little-no downward scaling
– no accurate timers for the event
– no in-game mechanisms to allow coordination of 100 people
– a low population cap such that people are likely to be placed into overflow
– a mechanism such that the overall success of said group hinges primarily on 6 players
– rewards which are disproportionately low for the effort required to succeed

Liadri the Imbalanced, Stupor Annoying Box, Tequatl Sucking… it’s clear the development team needs more time than they have to produce quality content.

ArenaNet needs to pull back on the reins and slow down the rate of releases until they can reliably produce quality content.

Teq has some obvious design issues, and tribulation mode breaking its own rules to add artificial difficulty, but liadri wasn’t really imbalanced from my memory. Be careful not to equate difficulty with poor design.

complainers here don’t care about balance… they just need a scapegoat for their lack of skill. so they point at the only class that has different mechanics (no cooldown, spammable skills) and surf the wave of fotm complains … first it was instagib, now stealth, tomorrow evasion.
ppl: go buy some skill and be quiet.

The thief forum is so immature, like baby’s who have lost theyr candys, eheh.
And of course, a thief knows better

It’d be great if we could have a sincere discussion about stealth but there are far too many people in your camp who don’t think about the ramifications of their suggests for the fate of stealth.

I suggest you folks discountinue steamtrolling every recommended balancing suggestion with the aforementioned common counter arguments.

Which balancing suggestions are you talking about?
The classic it’s broken nerf it, no more bs damage, every single aoe/cc/skill must break stealth and put revealed 20 seconds, -50% speed, 1 stealth per day etc etc?
Or the classic stealth is broken use another build, but the other build is broken aswell QQ?
And from who these suggestions? The classic rageguy who run with a random build who open tons of junky threads?
Becouse till now i didnt read suggestions here or in other threads, only complaints.

i misunderstood your post my apologies- the wording wasn’t as clear as it was to me when you emphasized your point.

secondly i apologize for being unclear myself. What i intended to say was that the ideas to “fix” the class are either a) biased and thus flawed or b) poorly planned and unworkable in their presented state and to this end they shouldn’t even be considered as ideas. Ideas on how to fix anything with a mmo class require forethought and finesse.

Obviously what i wrote didn’t convey that well enough.

My only problem with stealth is in WvW, and it’s because of how easily you can permastealth, and how 1 backstab usually does enough damage to force you to waste a heal while the thief can enter stealth and do it again. They may need to put an actual cooldown on backstab, or make it so it starts lowering damage output as you stay in combat mode (such as halving the damage it does until it eventually caps out at doing 1/8 or 1/16 of the norm). Or put a cap on the max amount of stealth time you can get in WvW. Outside of WvW, stealth isn’t that big of a deal to nerf.

Crunch the numbers on your suggestion and how it stacks up to condition and passive healing metas and get back to me on if you still think it is a good idea. I’ll assume for now that you would stick with it judging by you even posting it.

Why are WvW and PvE servers linked?

PvE feeds WvW and WvW feeds PvE, you demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding as to how game modes overlap.

Then explain how they “feed” each other.

PvE is usually where all pvp players get invested in online gaming, pve players will from time to time become full-time pvpers. So any PvP mode has pve to thank for some portion of its dedicated player base. WvW, specifically in GW2, provides boosts to pver’s as well as a reason for guild movement and community synergy. PvErs are the source of our consumables, our runes, our armors, and a lot of the other little things we utilize.

The list goes on and on but the gist of it is that when you have a game that shares elements throughout multiple game modes (say WvW, PvE, sPvP) you get overlap and interactions between each of the modes which are both positive and negative. They are tied together and PvErs aren’t leeching off WvW anymore than i am leeching off a PvEr when i buy food from the TP for a price much less than the time investment it would take me if that PvEr wasn’t making food.

Hello Decklan,
There are prominent guilds in every server, the ones that indelibly shape the ethos and community through their words, decisions, actions and commitment. The militia and 90% of the WvW population look up to the leadership of the leaders. Even though this is a video game, loyalty and reputation crosses over from real life. The anonymity also makes it easier for folks to show their real nature, their real selves so to speak. Hence the feelings of betrayal is extremely painful.

Yeah, and I still have friends who I talk to on SoR and BG because I don’t let video game politics spill over into my real life. I’ve seen too many people get lost in this world of PPT and server pride. It’s just a downward spiral from there.

There was this guild leader from SoS, I think he was one of the ambassadors or something, that was so obsessed with winning he would play 10-12 hours a day and make forum posts about how this game was destroying his life. This same guy felt depressed when he had to spend time with his family and his server lost a single T1 matchup (new years week). He did exactly what you are writing, he let loyalties and bonds formed in a video game spill over into his real life. I don’t know if he plays anymore, but it should say something that I don’t even remember the guys name even though he dedicated so much of his time to this game.

In the end this is really just a game. If some guilds transferring off your server effect you that much, if not achieving first place is something that will ruin your self-esteem or outlook on life, then maybe it’s just time to stop. Play the game, have fun, that’s all that matters. It’s really the only reason I’ve stayed on JQ even though we have only placed first a few times in the past, I don’t know, four months? I just see the community here as more casual, and less about PPT. Sure we might lose guilds, sure we might gain guilds, sure we might drop to T2 or T3, but it doesn’t matter in the end. The community here on a whole never seemed to be obsessed with winning over fun.

It’s why I hear stories from other servers about commanders yelling at random pugs for wearing zerk gear. Hey, I’ve never experienced that. JQ wipes, it wipes, so what. JQ takes 2nd, so what. JQ is knocked down to T8, so what. Yet I read forum posts about people from SoR and BG who have been so ingrained and brainwashed by austere commanders that you could recommend some crazy build on a PROFESSION forum and they would chime in and say how useless your advice is because one of their guild leaders gave them a 15 minute rage-fest about how THEY were the reason the other team rallied and won the fight.

Then again, maybe it’s my age. I guess when you grow up and garner more responsibilities, the politics of a server matter less and less and just logging on and having a good time matters more and more.

And before you say, band wagoner, I’ve been on JQ since week 2 (I started on Yak’s Bend) and experienced all of its ups and downs; whether it be winning, losing, or dropping down to T2.

You have a sheltered perspective i fear. When you feel your server’s pride bottom out you appreciate what winning and success does for morale. T2 is not even remarkable in that regard.

Easy.
The WvWers fight at their expense, to give those PvErs some more hp so they can be happy stood in the fire, extra mf so they can loot more etc.
Also all that extra loot & gold they get, means lower (lol as if) tp prices so those of us in WvWs can pay them for the super rare (as in non-existant) mats that we need to craft our time gated crap.

Just About WvW Ranks...

I know this has been brought up many times, but I’m curious as to how people feel about the WvW ranks. Specifically that they aren’t account wide, and instead, character based. I get that they did it for a reason, but I kinda wish there was an option to change that. I leveled alts to try out playstyles and learn how classes work, but I only play my Guardian. I have a lot of ranks on other toons, I think my Warrior has been well over 30 (ok, not ALOT, but I had stopped playing when ranks came out.) Just curious.

I like the progression, i like the sub-specialty nature of it, i agree that they should be wise investments, and i like that it has forced me to really put all my effort into learning a single class well- all that said having them be character bound feels insanely constricting as i would like to try other professions but can’t convince myself to level them while i could be working on masteries on my main.

I think so, while I am sure the masses would disagree because it would “make it have no point”….I think that it has been MORE than proven that the “matchups/score/PPT” are all direct correlations to Population and Coverage.

Look at the current NA matchups, do you really think anyone other than T1 (NA) are playing for PPT? What you have is 7 other matches that are karma trains. I am telling you the scoreboard is useless, beyond measuring coverage gaps and populations.

At the end of the day almost everyone eventually (some take longer than others) comes to realize that watching the scoreboard, and equating it to anything other than a measure of population/coverage is pointless.

I mean the only thing that PPT is going to be useful for moving forward is declaring the “winners” of this league nonsense.

I want some sort of metric to judge my server’s overall performance in a week versus another server, because unlike a lot of player i don’t frame everything within my own personal experiences. i want a score because it reflects the efforts of my server MY TEAM.

It looks small on paper and so did tequatl. Anet seems to not space out content evenly which is fine because sometimes it is just better to do occasional big releases and pacing releases afterwards.

What people don’t understand is that MERC can now actually run as a proper guild (tagless etc) because they don’t need to send 20 scouts to every towers,keeps on every BLs. BG is too obsessed with ppt which make MERC become a “float team” for BG which is basically a train with bunch of rallybots (pugs) who stay up for wexp (because their guilds can’t take any thing from JQ or SoR).

I can say this because I was a MERC and the reason Amarathy quit commanding was because of BG. One night we ran tagless with MERC only and it was so much fun. After that he got so much complains about not tagging up to lead useless rallybots to farm their wexp. After that they i’ve never seen Amarathy commanded again.

Bandwagon guild acting like a bandwagon guild, nothing to see here. I sincerely hope the MERC remaining on BG see what their “leaders” are made of and get a new tag that has some class.

We know exactly what MERC was made of. Ralikh and Tarkus would stay up passed 4 am running the float everyday. For that, we are nothing but thankful for the months of leading us.

That was the intention as I wanted to leave on a high note, yeah I did transfer last night. Its kinda disgusting though that the second that we leave that a lot of the leadership of blackgate turned feral, you wouldn’t have been in T1 if it wasn’t for our help and the way ICoa (Kin), KnT (Rid) and TMD (Choc) has reacted has effectively burnt all bridges. Nice to know all of the hours we put in got turned around so quickly.

From the reaction given to us not 6 hours in I know what server I’ll be focusing in Oceanic and late PST. No sympathy, I would’ve told you in channel but Choc banned me for a false rumor that was spread around in LA and has been continued to have been spread to make the war council feel satisfied with themselves.

Say what you want. Keep spouting Bullkitten on the public forums doesn’t make you look any better. No doubt, people aren’t going to take this move lightly considering you moved at the most crucial time to one of the biggest threats Blackgate has. Not only that but this move has been planned for a long time and kept in the dark. Theres members of MERC that had no idea this was going down. If you’re surprised that people aren’t happy then I don’t know what to say… Countless times over and over again each week was a new excuse as to why MERC would possibly be jumping ship. It went from our SEA is dying to you’re tired of PvDooring and back to Our SEA is dying. Blackgate has worked extremely hard to help you out. All our timezones has supported you to the fullest. Each and everytime something went wrong the amount of QQ from you guys was very dramatic. You’ve managed to kitten of a lot of people and decapitate a server for your own needs. No reason you give will be good enough at this point. Bridges are indeed burnt and Blackgate will live and move on. We aren’t done and see you on the battlefield Tarkus. I’m sorry if this message offended anyone I’m just speaking the truth. Lastly, You can respond but I’m not posting and further. This didn’t have to be taken to these forums.

If anything speaks of poor character it is this. Leaving his guild in the dark to further his personal goals, Siegfried you are going to need to come and tell me some more heroic tales of Mountain Dew and late night floating to help this one slip under the rug as well!

When i was in my servers hardcore raiding scene in WoW i had a guild leader do something similar. Over the span of a tier, from it’s launch and our progression through it, she selected specific class leaders and officers to favor and to lift up. She kept some in the know and everyone else in the dark and began to broker a deal. Right as we were beginning the climax of our inter-server competition she sold our guild out to our competition to buy herself a leadership role in a rival guild and to guarantee slots for her chosen few.

This is the worst form of exploitation. This is not an act of self-preservation. Using your own guild as a stepping-stool is betrayal and inexcusable; it shows you to hold no character traits of value. To those who engage in this i pity them for they lack the sense of comradery that has made my online gaming experiences so grand.

I will say though i don’t know enough about the MERC situation to accuse anyone of acting in line with the above anecdote; i just wanted to share a previous experience and to state my opinions on such actions in general.

ArenaNet will not reduce the current amount of stealth options the Thief has, simply because they are afraid that the Thief will become the most underplayed professions, again. Most players who plays the Thief, plays it because of the way stealth and backstab currently works, as this playstyle resembles how an Assassin plays. If you where to remove that “feeling”, by reducing the amount of stealth options, you would lose a lot of Thief players. But I still think it needs to be done. The Thief should play like a Thief, not like an Assassin.

Again with the name nit picking? So I suppose they should remove sword from the class, since its called thief and not swashbuckler or duelist? And they shouldnt have a shortbow since the class isnt called archer right? Its not called marksman or pistoleer so i guess no pistols either. And you already pointed out its not called assassin, so no daggers either………

Get rid of of the Deadly Arts tree, thieves don’t kill

Only class mechanic is steal but steal now takes gold from other players unless the thief is killed within 30s of using steal.

Whenever I get interrupted while trying to cast Black Powder, I never lose any initiative.
Just go look at any video of any thief on youtube, you’ll understand what I mean.

Initiative is paid at the end of the animation, but i am not certain making the cost upfront is a good idea- it will add A TON more pressure on skill management, which paired with high initiative costs on a lot of our bread and butter will significantly punish us and only further encourage perplex interrupt specs.

I really do hope Perplexity runes to be nerfed someday; still, your point is valid and I think most thieves will really hate this change.
However, I believe “good” thieves will overcome this. Take D/P for example, which is the set which will be mostly affected by this: aside from being able to use BP->HS AWAY from your opponent, you have a blind on Shadowshot and a Daze on Headshot. If you need to use BP, you could easily use one of these 2 skills to prevent being interrupted on your opponent’s next attack, and then safely cast your BP.
But you are still somewhat right: maybe the #2 would require the Initiative cost of BP/CnD to be reduced to 5 Initiative from 6.

EDIT: typos

To point out, the daze on headshot is shorter than the time it would take to cast BP and would be a further intense initiative drain. Also shadowshot, i do use but it doesn’t prevent aoe style interrupts.

Oh hey, quick reminder, eles and guardians base hp is 11k hp, a 14-16k Backstab is overkill; here, let me show you the proves (not my video, I believe this aspect of thieves should go away, no one should have the right to one shoot anyone out of the blue, no counterplay at all)

No thief would be impressed by that gimmicky build and while it is funny it’s combination of specific elements make it far from practical. The build is a novelty and not one that does any favors for a legitimate discussion about backstab or thieves in general.

I can only feel pity for them, not because of the recent changes to the class mechanics, but rather the concept at which they were first created. At first I used to hate them, then I started playing the class to learn it and realized that while OP, they are a victim of their own strenghts.

A class created to be evasive, hard to pin down, but that offered some good counter mechanics and trade offs that could be fun for the opponent to beat. They are actually suffering from a subset of skills (which sadly attracts very unskilled set of players for the stupidly low skill ceiling) and make them take the easy and unfun way out by abusing two mechanics that are pulling the thief down; Stealth and Backstab.

I have seen well played thieves that dont rely on neither of these mechanics to be effective or annoying. They use teleports, poison, calculated skills, skillful use of teleports, tactical stealths. This thieves are fun to play agaisnt, they have skills which are difficult and slightly frustrating to fight agaisnt, but beating them feel rewarding because you have to outplay them, they have to make decisions, you are constantly playing whack-a-mole but you can kind of expect where it will pop, with the twist that the mole can fight back.

The problem arises when the thief has D/D and can burst you for 8-10k hp without absolutely no counter. Aegis wont block the damage nor reveal them, blocks wont work either. Basically backstab is a guaranteed 10k burst that if you are an ele (12k hp) or a guardian (12k hp too) you will most likely die to it if you arent at full health, or the HS following the BS will kill you for sure. There is absolutely no counterplay to that, not even dodges can save you because you cant dodge what you cant see.

Thats what needs to go away, no class should have a 10k nuke without any counterplay. The other issue is permastealth and how “newbs” rely too much on it to survive. Every now and then you see these “new players with low skill” threads popping up everytime their “sacred” completely balanced and full of fun counterplay mechanics is touched. We had them first when revealed was applied. Was the class uesless? no. Then when the duratio was increase? were thieves useless? No, once again. Now the rangers pet apply them. Will it be useless? I bet no, because unlike most of the population, not everyone plays ranger, in fact I dont play ranger, and if I were to play ranger I wouldnt go for beastmaster.

Point is, for most people the problem of lowly skilled thieves who rely too much on the annoying stealth mechanic and OP uncounterable backstab the QQ will never stop.

Once we rework backstab to have a maximun %hp cap and have a long internal CD, and stealth to be a skill of tactical use rather than just spam it for everything, then we will have a more balanced class. The class should be about timed dodges, timed teleports, timed blinds, timed skills, timed poisons, not spam 1222161228112, heck most people dont even get past the first set of 2s.

I would counter with what am i supposed to do against the massive amount of condition spam and aoe spam in WvW at the moment. I can evade the fight but if i can’t bring so use to larger group play then in upper tiers i am in many ways bringing my team down by playing a thief.

I would like to start off by saying that I have played GW2 since day 1. I have really enjoyed playing Guild Wars 2, but the game specifically PVP seems dull and boring with a very low skill ceiling. I quit WOW to play GW2… Please do not flame my post because I strongly believe a lot of people out there share the same opinion that I have expressed above.

I would like to see this change. The only way I can see this change is to revamp the whole system and make it more trait based rather than based on weapon choice.

What class do you play? Build? How do you PvP, what’s your style? why do you think pvp is boring?

I’ve quit altogether. I agree with Daze. Anet took a great base game and ruined it. WvW is what I signed on for.

Ascended weapons that must be crafted, account bound t7 mats.
Asinine new king of the hill mode with no rewards aka ruins
Bloodlust buff makes fair fights and duels impossible.

but other things that have irked me over time

not being able to mystic forge wvw armor/weps
not being able to salvage wvw items
not being able to test new runes/gear in spvp
not being able to easily acquire karma via wvw

Not to mention letting Ranger just completely fall behind in the WvW meta.

Anet doesn’t care about user satisfaction. That’s common to B2P games though…

You need to reassess some of your points. Otherwise if you truly believe all of them i think you are being hyperbolic or maybe we both have had different previous RvR experiences.

So we need more incentive for people to zerg? We need to find a way to move away from the 50-man zergball roaming. If anything needs to be encouraged, it’s small group play.

The commander/squad system needs reasons to be further utilized. Those reasons should not be monetary though imo- it needs a redesignf or better functionality. Allow commanders to change the color of their tags, allow commanders to see the make up of their squad in the WvW panel (along with their supply), and allow commanders a commander chat where they may relay info to anyone else tagged up on a map.

The power creep in WvW is another complete issue all on its own, and this stat buff just adds to it. This stat buff killed the chances of having competitive fights. When you’re a guild in the open field, you don’t want to roll through another guild for a cheap win with an uneven advantage that the other guild had no real chance to have during the fight. I don’t want enemies to have the buffs, especially when we fight groups larger than us, but I definitely don’t want the buff on me either. It cheapens any win we’d have in the open field and destroys any semblance of competition WvW had.

Food and exotic stat potential has nothing to do with this orb buff. The difference is both sides could choose to have or not have it. For the orb buff, its either you have it, or they have it, and neither side can choose not to have it. Please stop posting here if you are going to derail this thread.

If one side is using stacking sigils or food or oil/crystals/stones and the other is not, if one side is using ascended and the other rares, if one side si using runes/orbs and the other not then there is a disadvantage. Yes these things are different from the orb mechanic because you can choose to have them anytime but that does not mean that that choice invalidates the legitimacy of the fact that ALL WvW fights are uneven. The degree to which they can be uneven can vary, but generally handicaps and concessions are taken to deal with this uneveness. If that orb buff breaks your ability to have fun because of a stat increase on your side, " weaken" yourself. If my opponent is buffed i will welcome the added challenge.

So, how do you FA guys feel about Novus? Must suck to cheat and still lose.

I don’t about you but we had about 35-40 when we were in your lords room in garry, we killed garry guild claimer like 10 times, the highest the ring ever went up was 50% before being bannered again by your thousand of warriors. We were in your garry for over 20 minutes, so I dont consider that losing. The only reason we were defeated at garry, one you bannered the lord like 10 times, two you had players contesting the ring constantly even though we blocked off your waypoints and entrances with very few getting by, and three you waypointed in like 5 times with more reinforcements which only very few survived. So…..

Also lots of my players were complaining their bags were full the first 5 minutes we were in there. So we had lots of loot bags just sitting around garry, unfortunately we had to let them despawn.

By the time we got defeated your garrry was swarming with TC probably your entire server was there after 15-20 minutes which by the way is slow response considering you guys outnumber us 2:1 during most timezones. Took your entire server to push the core of our group out of your keep. Still took your waypointed hills though. Regardless my guys had fun, probably leveled 3-5 times just in garry alone.

My opinion you guys lost, your thousand war banners saved your garry not your final 60-70+ player push to wipe the 20 guys we had remaining.

The bad is strong with FA.

Fixed.

Is this buff only to promote silly finishers for a downed state mechanic most of us despise anyways? I just don’t get it.

Why not simply make it on kill instead of forcing people to use finishers when the buff is active?

Forcing stomps keeps kills from absolutely dominating the points score for a week. If kills were the metric for gaining points for the buff then the worth of holding objectives would be MUCH less than it even is now.

Go Troll elsewhere. The first thing you do in your post is claim GvG doesn’t require tactics and skill. Obviously that’s wrong. If my guild did a GvG with the same classes and traits as Red Guard I’m positive we would get rolled because we aren’t near their level of skill.

Ignoring organized GvG for a second and focus on just WvWvW guilds. We want to play WvWvW together in a group with our guild. We don’t want to split up, big epic fights is the whole point of WvWvW. We don’t want to play on a different map. When we come upon a fight we want them to be fair.

Just tonight my guild group came upon a great guild that we really respect. We would never turn down a chance to fight them and likely lose. But instead we see that that have +150 stats currently. That killed our enthusiasm to fight them and basically ruined our raid night.

If you shirk from a fight due to a disadvantage i’d call you strategic but would also feel that you don’t really enjoy challenging yourself or your guild.

A Solution to GvG

A Solution to GvG
Hello. I’ve thought up of some simple ideas that could be implemented very easily that I believe would be an effective temporary solution for the GvG community.

There would have to be the creation of a new borderlands map. This map would be a relatively large flat piece of land where the guilds could meet up and carry out their battles. The immediate downside to this is that other players could join the map and do as they please but hopefully the community would be respectful towards the guilds.

In the future of GvG, there would be a dedicated instance map that uses PvE stats. The guild leaders could choose 20 from their roster and add it to a queue. They could then challenge another guild and if that guild accepts at the time they would be ported to a new map. This map would be a simple rounded coliseum with a flat arena base. There would be a mode that would alert players who would wish to watch the GvG, they could sit in the coliseums stands and observe from a safe distance. This could also be incorporated to the game because players could then watch their favorite guilds duke it out in the arena. Basically, I think this is a solution that would allow the game to grow and to help out its community base.

Tl;dr
Create a new boardelands – flat map where guilds can duel
Future – create a roman coliseum where guilds can fight and there could be spectators.

Anyway, I thought that this was a great idea and I wanted to share it with the community. Thanks for your time!

I posted a similar suggestion pre-patch and i got very little support. Good luck to you, i think it is still a good idea but you need to realize that both communities in contention over how to address the GvG issue (Anet and the GvG player community) are bull-headed, unreasonable, and generally a pain to work with.

1. Bloodlust buff is pointless. It took the servers that severely outnumber ours less than 3 hours to figure out that with us having the max bloodlust, there numbers advantage would just still overrun us. Yes during this first 3 hours WvW was in absolute chaos and we did take the lead for most of the tick. But the blob is back soon enough slightly weakened not because of bloodlust but rather there loss supply during the chaos. I know they are now just keeping us occupied until they hoard enough supply to feed the BLOB.
2. The masive JP (with no chest) in the middle of the borderland now hinders our tactics in scouting as our scouts now become the pray of the the 1v1’ers in the JP(with no chest).
3. We regularly fight the BLOB and have learnt the the one of the best ways to counter them is to be one step ahead of them and the JP (with on chest) now forces us on longer,slower and more dangerous routes while a 80 srtong BLOB just melt through our gates.

And if you are wondering why I call it the JP( with no chest) refer to point 1.

The difficulty of traversing the middle ground in one reason i adore it. You have to be conservative and more strategic with your movement and commitments as your ability to defend is now much more hampered by increasingly aggressive play.

I’ll up your stoppage of WvW to stopping playing the game altogether.

I spent 95+% in WvW and the remainder doing a dragon occasionally.

So essentially they just nerfed 100% of my game play.

Not only not playing until they remove this crap. Not buying anymore of their games, Lost all confidence in them.

I really get the feeling that players with these types of posts haven’t played since the patch.
