All reward items from previous events will normally not be available if a similar event occurs in the future.
Patch notes are normally a good place to look as they often have the dates listed.
Click on the achievement then hover the mouse cursor over the rewards. It should show how many achievement points you have gotten so far out of 50.
It has been acknowledged and they are looking into it. The majority of people claiming to have issues actually have missed one though.
Hey Dulfy is vague on one area: Mount Maelstrom. There are only 2 pictures but 4 spots there I believe. So when you first run through it you get 22 of 24….that was my case. After reading it closer, I realized I missed 2 in that region. One is up by the witch champ, while 2 are below under water in that same area. The forth is off to the far east of the map…Hope this helps some of you.
She has one picture that shows all four locations, describes where all four locations are, and has a picture of each one individually. Are you looking at the correct area in her guide?

Okay I have adjusted it now so all 4 locations are marked in 1 pic. Hopefully that will solve some issues

Queensdale champ farm. You’ll get 2-3 per cycle.
I wasn’t too impressed. Maybe someone can find a use for them in a niche build.
There was one that I missed and it was the one in the water at Timberline.
I see now that it increments each time you “do the action of collecting”.
Which is not what the text says: Collect 20 spore samples.

Your notes are clear. It’s just that some people are relying on the image of the overall map with the locations rather than reading your entire guide.
T6 materials will still skyrocket since people will need them to level. Whether or not people are stockpiling them won’t matter. The only thing that will make a difference is how long it will take prices to plummet by players aggressively undercutting each other.
Use wiki and look up what the bags do.

Update notes also state daily achievements specific to the release count.
There are more than 24 locations. You stating that shows you just used Dulfy’s guide. There are more than 24, you just NEED 24.
The wiki shows 24 and I have yet to see any more obelisks. Care to point out one that is not listed?

Yeah she updated it now it seems before the POI wasn’t circled. This is a common one that people missed. If its not the one you need, then its something else.
She had pictures on each one up last night. She just didn’t have the one circled on the map showing all of them like you said.
Everyone I have talked to that had issues eventually got the achievement when they did not rush through when rechecking. Quite often they did and didn’t read the text completely resulting in them mistakenly assuming it said they had gotten it. A few others skipped shards entirely.
One of the reasons that I’m against using guides is for this very reason. People use them as a crutch and when they accidentally miss something on the guide, it’s assumed the achievement is bugged. Sometimes they are, and this one may as well, but it’s very rare and I have yet to see it be the case.
I suggest those struggling should make an actual list (verify you actually have 24 locations listed) and then revisit each one again. Do not check the location off until you see the text stating you had ready gotten it. For those just starting, do the same except don’t check it off until you see the count increase in the achievement panel. The key is to take your time and not rush it.

I’m willing to bet people are rushing when re-checking and not reading the text or skipping the shard completely.

Aetherblades path was maybe a 5 on difficulty with the majority of it due to your group’s competency than any direct challenge.
Zerging is just for people that want to faceroll through content by auto attacking. You ways have a choice.

None of the achievements for the Halloween meta were grindy except for maybe the doors but you don’t need to do them. The daily achievements for the meta take no time at all to do.
Most of them were grinding.
8 games of Inquisition, opening 50 T or T bags, getting CC, using the stomps in WvW 24 times. It was all grinding. I know your position is that anything under 60 repetitions isn’t grinding, but for me, if I have to repeat content multiple times to get a reward then every repetition after the 1st is grinding. I’ve already proved that I can do it, why make me do it over and over again?
Well you can petition for them to add a button that you click to reward all achievements. This way you don’t have to repeat anything.
I want to mentioned that if you plan on buying armor from the trading post; wait. The prices will drops significantly once ascended armor is available to be crafted.

Turns out that the speed issue may be caused by the passive from speed runes.

….what? You think a game full of Quaggan backpacks, rainbow unicorn longbows, mini-games, carnivals, and moa-races is geared for an older audience?
That doesn’t really mean much. You have a group of adult “men” who worship My Little Pony. You have adult women who are into Hello Kitty.
If you do the math using the calculators, statistically the difference on a berserker gear (weapon + trinkets) ascended vs exotics is ~ 6%. in Condition gears the difference is way less!
And others have calculated the difference to around 13% which is significant.
They’re comparing straight stats between the items themselves and not the actual impact it has on the player.
A year from now this argument will be negligible as everyone will have ascended. It’s been a year now and most people have ascended trinkets for all of their toons.

What incentive is there for the villagers to win? Running around the map until the timer runs out is very boring. Besides, villagers rarely win even if people didn’t purposely kill themselves at the start. People killing themselves at the start does not put you at a disadvantage. It’s so easy for a ghost to find a villager and kill them.
You get a bonus reward at the end. Just survived the game for the first time today and got it.
I always got one as a ghost.
These may or may not be bugs. Do to their inconsistency, I’m going to assume that they’re bugs.
Villagers can sometimes maintain a large movement speed boost over ghosts and also appear to have a high endurance regen rate. It took three people to take down one villager because of this. We feared him and used the mad king abilities and still took a considerable amount of time. I could see the gap widen as we tried to run up to him and I counted multiple dodges within a seconds. Perhaps class traits are useable in the activity? I did not see any buffs on him.
Another bug is that players sometimes go into downed state. It’s not based on damage since auto attacks sometimes cause this. In the downed state, players have access to the abilities that their class would have. I saw an Ele use must form and a their stealth.
Another related bug to above is that we got someone into the downed state yet they were able to keep on running away from us.
He ran fast enough to be out of range. It’s maybe the difference between someone with a speed boost signet compared to one without. Perhaps boosts from traits are allowable and that’s how they’re doing it. I’m also noticed that sometimes people get downed instead of insta-killed. They have access to their class’ downed skills such as must form for Ele. I even saw someone still run around in downed form.
Other utilities can lock up and constantly show the animation as well. For warrior, using their elite signet can sometimes leave the channeling animation on them until they map change or interact with something.
It’s fine the way it is. You are in stealth, not invulnerable and in stealth. If they lay down aoe on your location then you will get hit. If they shoot an attack at your location then you will be hit. All stealth does is prevent you from being visible to enemy players so they can’t directly target you.
Oh man with the move speed as slow as it is? Yeah no way I’m running all over the map looking for junk.
Someone found a way to boost their movement speed as a villager. They were able to constantly outrun me as a ghost and had a fast endurance regen rate. They were the only ones that I saw to be able to do this so either there’s a very rare item that gives them this ability (did not see any buffs on them) or they found an exploit.

People stopped because there was no incentive. You could do the doors achievement much quicker in the open world and the drops have no value. The champs take way too long to kill to be worth the trouble. Everyone went back to their normal farming routine or to WvW.
You don’t “need” to do it for the meta.
Try right clicking their name and choosing to join them? Not sure if it works but people have claimed it does.
Clock tower achievement did count for me for the living story daily achievement. I believe the inquisition has its own daily during the meta as well which is why it won’t work for the regular daily activity.
I don’t think it will because there’s already a daily specific for the Halloween meta.
An achievement grind?
The only achievement where you are required to repeat a task is the Trick-or-treat bag (50 bags), and the Door events (50 doors). (2 out of the possible 12 achievements)
Not to mention the meta being achievable doing the dailies, which include easy stuff like carving 5 pumpkins, doing the Lunatic Inquisition once, doing the clocktower once, etc…
And on top of it all, is the fact that you have 4 weeks to do it.
Is this what people categorize as a “grind” these days?
It’s a grind because they can’t do it in 30 seconds and/or just want it now since they’re impatient. I swear they just want a button that gives them everything in the game.
These items are not needed to complete the LIVING STORY. Nowhere did I mention items available from the npc. The great majority of the OP’s post was about the actual living story with the last couple paragraphs about the items.
