The game is so obsessed with its trading post and cash shop, everything is about grind to stock said trading post, the rest of the content has fallen to the wayside..
They need to focus on actual content and items everyone has access too or yes the game will be even more dead in 3 years time..
Why on earth would i buy anymore expacs after hot if all they add is even more daily grind..
Ascended started this stupidity and its just spiraled out of control since then.. I have a wallet in game full of useless items i’m suppose to farm after daily already.. why would i pay for more..
Time gates are a lazy and artificial way to extend content life. why would i buy more?
Would you prefer that there be no trading post? Imagine how it would be to get all of the mats and other items that you want.
GW1 has none yet we do fine there……
They do have one although it’s on a much smaller scale. Also, instead of the players setting the prices, the game does. This is also informing how much more complex GW2 is compared to GW1.
Let’s say that GW1 has no version of a TP. You say you did just fine there so clearly you had no issues farming everything that you needed. So that means you should have no problem farming everything in this game, right?

With XP boosts, you’ll get it in 1.5 runs of DS.

Maybe by the end of the summer or towards the holidays. Nobody here will really know and it’s not really something they would announce in advance.
Your best bet would be to keep checking official 3rd party sites to see if they have any sales.
I believe the first sale of GW2 for 50% was in April 2014. I could be mistaken though. This was about 1.5 years after release. Since HoT has only been out for about six months, there’s still time if they were planning to do the same. They also are including the expansion for free when you buy the next one so they may not even offer a sale.

The functionality of the item itself was not changed with the shared inventory slots so there wouldn’t be a refund unless you were still within that window.
I’ve seen them spawn regardless as to the speed that the maps burn him down.
Other legendary collections require you to do things that are typically not done solo such as fractals and and champions.
This one does too. Whats your point? Can you guys just not post if you are just going to make useless replies like this or “git gud”?
There’s a difference between you disagreeing with a post and a post being useless. You brought up an issue with having to kill a champion for the collection. I mentioned that this is typical of most, if not all, legendary collections. Most champions can be duo’d so if there’s nobody on the map, you can put in a LFG. I almost did just that when I needed to kill the krait queen in Kessex.
What I did recently to get those two POI was to swim until I was on top of them and then swim down. I got credit for both. Took maybe 20 seconds to get each from the WP.

One tip that I can give to people who are doing night events in VB is how to make defending the camps really really easy. The endless spawning mobs don’t respawn until the last one is killed. If you keep one of them alive, all you have to do is kite it. If it’s a mender, you can simply just sit in camp and AFK.
Just make sure that you let all of the NPC’s get killed first. This won’t work on natural spawns obviously nor will it work on tendrils throwing the poison aoe fields.
Since you can only complete a map once per character, it’s not sustainable.
Map completion rewards generally are not that great compared to time spent.
World completion is worth it if you plan to sell legendary weapons.
Allow all divisions to have pip and tier loss. No division loss.
Same matchmaking as season two except MMR is used for all players in a match instead of just who you get teamed with. This would prevent matches with a team of players that have a higher or lower MMR than you.
According to our logs, the person playing as “Sam” was not the owner of the account
Out of curiosity, how do you find this information out. I know you wont say details, but it makes me question my privacy.
They won’t tell you but you can see how other games do it.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
I have seen a lot of players on the maps the past couple weeks while doing map completion.
No. Masteries are for those that own HoT.
I suggest that Anet updates their ToS to include not just 3rd party programs but anything that automates gameplay. There are also images of the message players receive when banned that includes the phrase “extended unattended play” which I don’t recall seeing in the ToS either.
Anything that automates game play to the point where you are able to not actually play the game as-intended (example: you can walk away from it) is considered a breach of the User Agreement.

So they aren’t even “considering” it for PvE?
They are. It’s just that WvW will get it first.
Ah thanks. I must have missed it when I skimmed over her notes.
They’re working on it but WvW will be first to get it.
Edit: Tried to find a link to the source where I read it but couldn’t. Perhaps someone else remembers seeing it?

If they give the final metas too good of a reward, people will farm just that like they do VW.
People are going to farm something to accumulate the huge amount of map currency required for various legendaries, weapon sets, etc. Why shouldn’t the longer metas be ultimately more rewarding (and fun) than the smaller, shorter local events?
This isn’t about longer metas vs shorter metas. This is about the final meta (gerent, VB bosses, octo).
Well, according to the info that Anet let slip during LS1 (more precisely, the Marionette discussion), an average player at that time didn’t know how to dodge. I sincerely doubt that players significantly improved since that time.
You didn’t have much confidence to your fellow players if you think they haven’t improved in more than 2 years.
Some did, others didn’t. The veteran players calling for nerfs to HoT over things that could easily be remedied by improving how they played is evident to that.
Last record was 12:15, GJ all, [AB] slaughtered it. That’s what happens when you do it with 4 coms on teamspeak and all the pugs listen
- South Commander Sakura Yumiko
And able to get an entire map for your guild. That’s currently the issue now with doing speed runs.
Congrats on the new record!

From a post I made earlier:
You can do what some players are doing and AFK farm leather and such in Mount Maelstrom killing nightmare court. I’ve seen them having their heal skill in auto cast which may prevent the game from auto-logging them to the character select screen. Another place that I have seen people is in Harathi Hinterlands killing centaurs.
I haven’t personally done any of these so I can’t vouch what the gold per hour is but it appears to be something that can be done AFK. You’ll just need to be on a class such as a ranger so you can use your pets to kill them. You’ll get the various loot bags which can contain the expensive materials.
Another option would be to do this on a character that matches the level for that area so the weapon/armor drops are of that range. You can then salvage them for those expensive components.
I wouldn’t recommend afk farming. Murky as the dev posts on the topic were, it did look like what was intended game mechanics was having pets kill for you (so rangers and necromancers don’t get shafted by not getting loot when their pets do all the damage for them), but you still have to be at the keyboard playing. It’d be nice if they gave a clearer statement on it.
They never banned those who AFK farmed in GW1 unless they were actually botting. They acknowledged that your pets kill things for you was legit. So long as you don’t use third party programs to play the game for you in any way then you’re fine.
I’m confused. People want gliders enabled so that they can bypass some jumping puzzles. How do they expect to get enough height to do so without actually doing a JP?
Using the 1 clover/try recipe, there’s roughly a 4% chance you’ll need more than 300 tries using (assuming a 30% chance of success). Using the 10 clover/try recipe, there’s around a 28% chance that you’ll get less than 8 successes.
In other words, not only is the OP only reporting an example of bad luck, it’s not even extraordinarily bad luck.
True that. But anyway, chance to get clover over anything else should be slightly higher.
It is. You have a ~33% chance while any other item is in the single digits.
Chance for clovers should be higher. This is not recipe : get random reward from the list.
Recipe is fine. Next time do it one at a time if you want the ~33% rate.
I like how everyone was SURE this was some big scary dupe as their first mental option rather than “maybe the last patch added something?”
Like, if it’s not on a wiki or a reddit post, it MUST be cheating right?
Does anyone else remember what MMOs were like before wiki culture?
The problem is that things started shifting before the patch. We don’t know how many shields are out there, but it was the increased effort to sell off old inventory that put it on people’s radar. It could have a normal explanation (returning players, for example,) but in light of the new Mystic Forge recipes, it definitely looks suspicious.
We just had a 100% correct leak come out recently.
It’s not beyond a possibility that certain staff are leaking info to their friends and the right person/s found out and dumped their GGS supply before the news of the greens hit the player base.
What was the 100% leak? The patch notes?
What is salami slicing?
Like what they did in Office Space to embezzle money.
My only question is are you (Anet) sure that this came out with last week’s patch and not from an earlier one?

Did you activate the item before getting hit by the beam?
Looks like the destroyer scythe is part of the new drop table.

Don’t see any listed on the TP according to gw2tp though.
http://db.dulfy.net/search/scythe
he is lieing. it would be in the API now if he would have found one
Ah. Thanks for pointing that out.
Please tell me, you have also added the Invisible Boots …
They won’t because you can still get them in game through their original source: treasure mushrooms.
A few players have noticed that new items can be obtained in the Mystic Forge since last week’s update. We added a number of new items to the possible rewards for combining rare weapons in the mystic forge, including Bloodbound weapons, Aetherized weapons, Shadow of the Mad King weapons, and some orphaned skins from Living World season 1.
This was a part of a bigger update to the mystic forge which wasn’t quite ready for this patch, so we pulled most of the changes as well as the release notes. However, since this change did go into the build, I wanted to let everyone know about it.
Will this include the scythe, which I haven’t seen yet, though greatsaw and grinning shield has been confirmed????
Apparently the destroyer scythe is a part of that loot table. Or were you talking about the Halloween one?
Those who don’t like the requirements that some raid groups impose, have you tried creating your own group that will allow anyone?

Don’t see any listed on the TP according to gw2tp though.
Ty for the info, but I’m looking for nodes. Likeep rich orichulum spots, etc

Practically any build is viable in open world depending on your playstyle. If you can use active defenses to mitigate damage then go with more offensive builds. If you prefer to not use active defenses, but would rather just tank it, go with more defensive builds.

To add onto what Sariel said:
This is part of some updates that I’ve been working on with the mystic forge, though we had not intended it to go out with last weeks build, as some parts of the change still need some work.
I didn’t put this in the update notes since it wasn’t meant to go live yet, but since it apparently went through, we added the Bloodbound weapons, Shadow of the Mad King weapons, and some weapons with no way to get them anymore like Scarlet’s Kiss to the mystic forge as possible rewards for combining rare weapons.

You can get gold by just pressing 2.
Hmm, must be a little more to it than that. I went in to do it as a daily and silver came easily enough by pointing myself at clumps of chak and pressing 2 (and 5 a couple of times to gather them into a lump) but I wasn’t very close to gold. What path/pattern should I follow while pressing 2?
I got it by pressing 2 when it was the daily this past week. I may have used the one skill to pull them together once or twice.
I went up progressively while focusing on groups of Chak before proceeding further. I then did the same on the way back down until the mid point before I went back up.
the only problem is the randomized teleport splitting up the group, so if you’re unlucky, someone can die before you regroup
I was able to dodge the teleport unless it just ported me next to the ice elemental where I already was.
Yes those weapons really have very little to do with why the shield is at its current price. It’s another topic in itself and quite frankly it seems like a bug to me. A bug with each of the h’ween weapons, see the chain sword and greatsaws on the TP for yourself.
Well if you can get the skins from those weapons then the price of the skin items on the TP would fall.
If they made the tools accessible for all characters on the item level, they would have to refund players for duplicates. This is similar to what they did when they modified them from soulbound to account bound years ago. They changed the functionality of the item itself so refunds were given.
I doubt they would make any other additional changes given that they have been adding shared account slots but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
It’s better to do the x1 recipe as it averages out better in the short term which is what people tend to fall under. Doing the x10 recipe still results in the 33% rate but it takes more items in order for the average to reach that.
You can get gold by just pressing 2.
It’s better the way it is now otherwise people would just farm the final meta rather than do the event chain. It’d be like SW all over again.
True, but I don’t think that’s the item this thread is about. There aren’t many of the actual weapons, and those have only surfaced recently, afaik.
Maybe. I have been seeing a lot of talk about getting it from the MF so assumed it to be that.
Get an HP train going and you can have it unlocked in under 2 hours.
You can get them from the mystic forge although it appears to not be intentional.
How does one go about this?
Putting in rare items like you would precursors and hope you get lucky.
