As I remember from a long ago post, account termination after a refund is because of their insurance. It costs them money to process refunds, chargebacks, etc, and their financial insurance requires them, by contract, to take a hard line on the situation and permanently close the accounts.

And to reverse any benefit that the account received from having access to the expansion.

You bought it, you played it- It’s yours. That’s the policy i’ve always known.

So considering they atleast did that for you is shocking.

Do you have experience returning games? You use the word offensive as tho you have something to compare it to? i’m really curious, spill the beans.

Just imagine the people who would return games a week later after they have beaten them.

Unless you bought HoT recently, I do not see why you should be refunded.

Has WvW been implemented?
Have legendary weapons?

No.

WvW was not part of HoT. Yes, they cancelled the rest of the new legendary weapons. However, refund periods, especially for electronics, don’t usually go out to four months after purchase/use. Legendary weapons are just a small part of the expansion, and if you have done other things, you really have no grounds to demand a refund.

I suggest to take this as a learning experience and read up on a company’s refund policy before purchasing. If you don’t like the policy, and feel you may be at risk, don’t make a purchase.

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/arenanet-tracker/topic/303017-feedback-questions-town-clothes-costumes-combat/

In Guild Wars 2, weight classes determine the profession distribution and the seam rules for our armor coordination. We realized there were times when we desperately wanted to break those rules, so we developed a solution to do so. For example, town clothes work similar to the light armor system. There is a waist seam that allows mixing and matching to work relatively smoothly between pieces, which gives the player as much creative freedom as possible. But for clothing, it would be a travesty to never have a long trench coat, which has a seam overlap that would follow medium armor seam rules.

To solve this dilemma, we have created sets. Sets are two or more sections of armor fused into one to prevent mixing troubles that allow us to design with far less seam constraints. For example, we could have an outfit with a large trench coat, an inside vest and shirt, and pants. You’ve seen this before in my previous clothing blog post. That outfit is one piece. However, because we know there’s so much fabric real estate, three dye channels aren’t enough. In cases like these, we have allowed four dye channels. This will allow a remarkable amount of control over the parts of the outfit without having to require the pants to dye the same as some part of the coat..

Path of Ascension, League Threshold Question

Ayrilana.1396

I recently made it to ruby league while working on path of ascension 1 (late start), as I crossed the threshold to ruby I had an achievement unlock for tier 1 of the “league champion” achievement for Path of ascension 3.

Supposedly I’ve crossed 4 threshold at this point. (Path 1 = 1 threshold + Path 2 = 2 threshold + Path 3 = 1 threshold at tier 2)

Does the jump to amber count as a threshold? Or am I going to lose 1 tier of this achievement once I complete path 1?

Hope this all makes sense, thanks for any answers!

The league achievement for part 1 and part 2 progress together.

Get Rid of Precursor Crafting: Problem Solved

Ayrilana.1396

No need to re-read it as I don’t believe I am the one missing the point here.

You are.

You are narrating the crafting collections as being this epic journey that adds flavour to the legendary quests and removes the element of swiping credit cards.

They aren’t. I don’t perceive them that way and it’s based on actual experience crafting. What they actually are is a few hours of actually traveling the world to collect items in between very large soft pay walls.

Again, read my post. You clearly have not read it. All you’re doing is creating an argument that isn’t even mine as a result.

The major roadblocks of the collection itself was one absurdly troll item that was based heavily on RNG and overly tedious implementation of tasks, such as having to remove one item from my bank at a time to travel to a hero point, because if I had all the items I needed to charge at the hero point in my inventory, none of the dialog options for any of them would show up.

I’ve done precursor collections completely through (Dusk/Legend) and aboout 80% with just the first collection completed. None of them relied on an item that was heavy on RNG to me. You could make an argument about the cobalt salts but they really were not that bad. None of the tasks felt tedious to me either.

Which collection gave you an issue with the hero point?

When you block progress via demanding a very large quantity of in game items that take a very long time to grind out or grind out the in game currency required to purchase them and then have a seperate system where you can swipe a credit card to acquire in game currency, you have created a soft pay wall. It’s no more of an epic journey than playing a freemium game that is built and designed to take advantage of behavioral economics and test your patience in order to manipulate you into spending money.

Progress isn’t blocked. Each item you farm is one item closer to completing the collection. We knew well beforehand that the collections would have a cost to keep the process comparable to precursor prices on the TP. If you did not know that then you should have done some research about it. The journey portions are the first and third collections. You can also consider the 4th collection the same for the new legendary weapons.

I did the entire precursor collection for The Legend in two days. The only component that would have stalled that process was gold, which I was fortunate enough to have a lot. If I didn’t, I could have just swiped a credit card and bought a ton of it to pay my way to the end, no different if I had just swiped a credit card to buy the old precursor off the market.

There is a difference as the HoT legendary weapons require currency and of course cannot be bought. The old precursors require you to do things for the 1st and 3rd collection which you cannot buy. Yes, you can use a credit card but that’s really no different than most things in this game.

The main difference is in the current system, buying the old precursor says me money.

Depends on the precursor. Legend was cheaper to craft than buy.

And the implementation of this and the development time required to create these collections that amount to a few hours of gameplay in between these large soft pay walls is what I believe is the culprit behind us not having any new Legendaries.

Because given everything else is already place and they are able to churn out FX driven skins and gliders on a monthly basis, it’s only element that would be a development time sink.

And that’s my last post on this topic.

It’s likely the the first, third, and fourth collections that were hanging up the process for the new legendary weapons. The 2nd collection is essentially the same across all precursors.

@ Ayrilana

Nah they didn’t address most of what’s in the blog post. Not defense rewards, stale match ups (while managing to mention it repeatedly in multiple paragraphs), PPT, OP seige and they even went ahead and made a maze like autopilot borderland with insular objectives which took pretty much everything but ktrains out of the picture (so much for supporting player roles). I could go on.

Yeah. I’m not sure where they were going with defense rewards. There’s the reward that you get from the defending event that pops up but that appears it. This also existed at launch. Unfortunately how could you improve this without not having a lot of people choosing to AFK at tower? How do you reward someone scouting and not someone just wandering around aimlessly?

The problem with stale matchups is that all servers perform different. T4 servers cannot compete against T3, T3 servers cannot compete against T2, and T2 servers cannot compete against T1. You may have those servers which hop between tiers. Within the tiers, it can be lopsided or fairly even. The main issue is that not all servers are the same so no matter how much work they put into a new system, it’s going to get the same result.

They’ve modified PPT a few times. I think they recently did this with points from player kills. They’re not going to prevent nightcap ping as this harms players that don’t play in their region’s prime time. The server with the most points is how a winner is determined so naturally have a higher PPT is desirable (if you care for winning). How else would you prefer that they measure it?

The siege seemed relatively the same pre-HoT other than what your WvW abilities provided. It hey mentioned arrow carts in the blog and they fixed the LoS issue that caused issues for defenders. I haven’t really played WvW after HoT released as it’s been fairly stale. They also didn’t specfically state anything against what some people perceive to be OP siege. They just didn’t want people to refer to a particular siege for any given scenario.

Yeah, the new borderlands didn’t look all that appealing from what I have seen. It’s just too large among other issues.

HoT was never planned to be shipped as one big lot. It is to be supposed to come in several batches. To evaluate whether HoT is a 100% product or not you have to wait until the evening before expansion 2.

Except that the (non-existant) big wvw overhaul has been cancelled for good.

Which will ship out in smaller pieces sooner now rather than make players wait until whenever for it to be released as a whole.

You clearly havent been here long enough. “We will focus on wvw’s core issues like population imbalance” – that was said 3 years ago. Dont speak on this subject if youve only been in wvw (and the forums) for a few months, youre making yourself out to look incredibly naive.

There are 752 pages worth of evidence over in the wvw subforum. Have fun.

Well that’s convenient. Since you refuse to provide a source, I’ll assume you made it up for the time being.

Im saying we’ve been told that every other week for the past 3 years, but the fact that this is new to you shows me youre speaking on the subject completely from the outside. Keep your head neatly tucked in the sand.

We haven’t been told this every other week.

Not going to waste my time on a blind whiteknight who has three year’s worth of catching up to do.

Ah. So now you’re resulting to personal attacks because you cannot provide a source. If they kept saying it every other week then it should be fairly easy to prove that. The only time that I remember a dev having a discussion about it was in a thread sometime in 2024 where they were just gathering ideas. No promises were made. It may have been the CDI thread but I can’t remember for sure.

They weren’t saying it every other week. Quite the contrary really. Their silence was actually a big problem. However there have been several carrots dangled intermittently that didn’t materialize into much.

This from June 2013 (this was the easiest reference to pull up on my phone, there are CDIs and other older threads)

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/devon-carver-on-the-future-of-world-vs-world/

  • First paragraph addressed culling. Yes that’s how old that is.
  • “They’ve shifted their focus to solidifying WvWvW” since 2013 and we’re hearing it yet again after HoT
  • Defense still offers crap rewards
  • Squads weren’t ready even when HoT dropped, squad markers even later. I don’t know what guild rewards he’s talking about hopefully not guild missions because…I’m going to stop there.
  • Match Ups have remained untouched.
  • Arguably, the only playstyle that’s seen support is the uber casual, all inclusive, grade school style, everybody gets a trophy blob (not the scout, the roamers, havoc, skill group)
  • Speaking of the devil, zerging is still the most effective
  • PPT and resulting PvD is unchanged
  • Siege is still overtuned and common as salt to boot so “MOAR arrow carts!” is actually a thing.

WvWvWers have been strung along for a while.
———-
On topic, HoT seems more framework and future proofing than content so IMO it does feel unfinished.

Yeah. Silence is what I mostly remember on the WvW subforum which is why I questioned the other poster when they made their greatly exaggerated claims.

As far as that blog linked, most of what was stated they have done. It may not have been to the degree that some players had hoped for but they did follow through. However, nothing in this blog referee to populations imoavablbces and promises to fix them.

The participation reward system is just generally flawed. There’s this here. There’s also sitting afk at the end of a meta with your 200% slowly ticking down while you get chest after chest if you’re lucky and the map turns out to be one that remains active on the next cycle. There’s so many ways to game the system.

The participation system is a good idea, but needs refinement.

Or participate in something that awards participation every 30 minutes and never lose it.

You don’t seem to get it.

The “sitting afk at 200 participation in a map” generally happens when you’re actually done playing. But because you get rewards for every tier while you still have participation you still get rewards if you just stay logged in afking in the map, because you have a certain amount of participation that probably will give you a certain amount of “free” rewards. Why log out of a map if you can just stay logged in and go away to see a movie, eat dinner go or whatever else you want to do beside playing Guild Wars 2. Rewards come raining in with zero effort.

I was adding onto what they were saying… not making another argument…

I know full well about people who AFK on the map to run out their participation. And if someone came back every 30 minutes to do an event, they would maintain their participation indefinitely. So I don’t really know what you were trying to get at with your post.

Revert Quickness/Slow on Finish/Rez

in PvP

Posted by: Ayrilana.1396

Ayrilana.1396

To the OP: It wouldn’t be a problem to revert if they nerf quickness access significantly (down to pre-HoT levels). For most of the game’s duration, quickness even came with a significant drawback (no endurance regen, you take double damage, no healing). Back then, skills that gave quickness, even the guardian elite shout, had a reasonably cooldown and it allowed for good counterplay. Chronobunker just had on-demand quickness with every shatter, and constant shatters thanks to alacrity.

Mechanics like slow on revenant auto-downed (making stomps on revs take 2x as long), quickness res, and the rev damage inversion trait completely messed up the balance of stomps. The only mechanic that still exists and is stupid is the druid shout, only because there isn’t a solid form of counterplay: just an instant cast and instant teleport (compare this to the ele glyph that resses people and has a 3.25 s cast and 165s cast time). This should at least require the pet to run to the person so that it can be snared/interrupted.

Funny though as I remember being stomped quicker than the cast time of a stomp recently. Maybe my screen just showed me down later than it did for everyone else…

Luckily Anet gives players five character slots so everyone should have three available classes to play.

I have more than that, once for preordering HoT and another free one. I have engineer but have no PvP experience on it whereas my guardian and warrior have gathered so much dust I haven’t even touched them PvP wise in three years. Then certain playstyles don’t appeal to certain players.

Yep. But why are people doing leagues? For fun? For the legendary backpack? If it’s for the legendary backpack then they have to realize that they will need to play on three classes. What are they expecting? To progres most of the way on their main class and then carried on the other two?

Making alt accounts make alot of less skilled people stuck with blowout matches and seems kinda counterproductive with the skilled player community whanted to not playing with theese low leveled people. Some will be carried and other will miss tier jumps and maybe get stucked.

I refuse to watch streamers on alt accounts blowing new people up. I would much rater follow and sup elite players playing tuff fights, winning and loosing and hear there indput on tactics , mistakes and what to change, than seeing them blow up mr random clicker in amber or ruby

There were three collections for precursors. Only one of the collections required a large amount of gold to be spent or materials to be farmed.

There is 23 collections for precursors and all the tier 2 collections have the war efforts quest which require a lot of materials to be thrown at them.

The total number of elder wood logs consumed by the entire Legend precursor was up in the 5 digits when I did the math on it.

You cannot acquire that number of elder wood logs single handedly; you have to farm gold. That’s the great journey of The Legend. Farming gold to buy 10,000+ elder wood logs to use in crafting.

You can farm any of those materials. You claim that you can’t farm elder wood but exactly what are people doing at that statues in Malchor’s then? Just because you cannot see yourself farming materials does not mean that others won’t.

The collections do not have to be completed immediately. They could be used, as you know, as a mid to long term goal.

You are dancing around the point here. You are defending the prescuror collections on the merits that it turns the acquisition of the precursors into this epic journey that circumvents the issue of swiping a credit card.

I can tell you personally from doing one of these epic journeys, that the bulk of the time invested will be spent on the acquisition of massive amounts of materials to get past Tier 2 collection. That’s not an epic journey; it’s a gold sink. Yeah, you can farm the materials or you can farm gold and sell them for gold to buy a precursor in the old system. It’s more of the same and the overwhelming of what is required to get a precursor in these “epic journeys” can still be circumvented with a credit card.

You like all that? Cool. I’m fine with you liking that. Just don’t kitten down my back and tell me it’s rain.

Because it’s not. It’s a lot of gold.

No dancing around here. I’m also not going to address the rest as I already had in my initial post. I suggest you re-read it.

As I stated in my post, collections allow players to see their progress towards the precursor.

You may not like the precursor collections and crafting but they were implemented with a purpose.

I appreciate you ignoring everything I said to restate something I already understood. Everything has a purpose. I understood what the purpose of the precursor collections was before I made that post.

The purpose of my post, however, was to explore whether or not the precursor collections actually accomplished their purpose in turning the acquisition of precursors into a journey instead of a gold dump that could be circumvented with a credit card swipe.

The answer I present is no, they didn’t…for the many reasons I just provided. There effect on making it a journey was minuscule at best, because the bulk of the process is still overwhelming gold acquisition and in the case of their impact on the market, actually made that part of it worse than before.

There were three collections for precursors. Only one of the collections required a large amount of gold to be spent or materials to be farmed.

How else to interpret the statement? “If you own the expansion, you’ll be able to simply log in to the game to gain free access to upcoming Living World releases!”

If you don’t own the expansion, you won’t be able to access the LW releases at no cost.

Edit: Oh, you are asking if they will unlock without logging in (during the live release)? Doubtful…the same question was asked about Season 2, and we know how Season 2 worked.

People are seeing access and the story being unlocked as two separate things.

Get Rid of Precursor Crafting: Problem Solved

Precursor crafting came about from a legitimate desire in the fanbase.

Getting rid of it is not a solution at all. Not supporting it for the 12 remaining HoT legendarys is a stop gap measure(also not a solution) at best.

And no offense, but that’s also complete bullkitten.

You just made this blanket statement that you haven’t qualified in any kind of way.

How is it not a solution at all? It’s clearly a solution for the reasons I detailed.

Yet, the real solution apparently is to not have Legendary weapons at all, so we can keep a system that the development team can’t support, because “we” (not me; I was fine saving and buying a precursor off the market) wanted this precursor system.

And that’s better for everyone….for….reasons?

Some of the biggest complaints on the forum regarding precursor acquisition was the RNG, no journey, and anyone could buy one off the TP with a credit card.

This was resolved with the new legendary set. Although players could still use a credit card to buy the materials, they still had to do the journey as everyone else.

For the original set, this providing a means for players to work towards a precursor over time and actually see their progress. Yes, there are those that are impatient and try to do the entire process in one sitting.

Okay, let’s explore the merits. I’ll use my personal experience as a benchmark.

It took me literally two days to do the precursor collections when HoT first came out and I did the Legend. Then, I just had a ton of gold lying around that I threw at the crafting.

If I did have that gold, then the “journey” of acquiring a precursor would have been the actual collection taking a very small portion of the time invested and the acquisition of the gold from farming alone would have taken months.

In practice, it’s literally not any different then it was before, outside of the addition of the collections, which some find to be fun (and they were fun), but still ultimately representing a small percentage of an overall process that is predominantly gold acquisition.

And in addition, because they chose to implement the precursors this way, where the bulk of the “journey” is the acquisition of huge amounts of crafting materials used in all other forms of crafting, it drove the price of those materials to the point where acquiring a precursor requires MORE GOLD than it did before in the old system.

That’s the key difference. If the precursors were produced entirely from the collection and did not consume trade materials from the market like the way randomly generated precursors don’t, it would be a totally different story.

But it wasn’t implemented like that and the end result is a net loss for the players trying to get the legendaries. Now, if my conclusions are correct and the development time to support is too much, then it’s caused a complete loss in players trying to get legendaries, since those legendaries are no longer going to be produced by the development team.

As I stated in my post, collections allow players to see their progress towards the precursor.

You may not like the precursor collections and crafting but they were implemented with a purpose.

(…)

Not true. For crafting the final Legendary, you have to max out all Maguuma Mastery Lines to be able to purchase Gift of the Itzl, Gift of the Nuhoch, Gift of the Exalted and Gift of Gliding to craft “Gift of Insights”. Which means you need almost all Maguuma Mastery Points (112 out of 139). Which means you have to do almost all adventures at least at Silver. Silver and Gold gives you a Mastery Point respectively. Bronze doesnt give you any Mastery Points.

Bolded part is an exaggeration. If you get HoT MP’s from all other sources, you only need to get 5 MP from adventures.

Just make it so you can always lose pips and tiers. This way the bottleneck occurs at the earlier divisions instead of Ruby and things get better as you progress.

Then they can place a cap of no more than two of one class can be on a team regardless as to whether any are in a pre-made. This of course won’t prevent players from switching to another class but it’s not like those that end up with 3+ one are willing to switch anyway.

Fractals are not only level 80 content, get that out of your heads. It’s the players claiming it to be. Being level 80 only makes them quicker. I provided proof its not designed for only level 80’s in a post above, where is yours?

Do them as level 10 characters.

Many people don’t want low levels in their parties as you saw. Players are completely free to do this.

Just create your own group for low level players. Perhaps then you’ll understand why you were kicked and why people prefer not to play with them.

If you want more matches that do not have class stacking then you’re going to have to accept longer queue times.

If you want matches with people that have an identical MMR as you then you’re going to have to accept longer queue times.

You’ll also have to accept that division progression isn’t a reward track although it is technically possible to grind your way through it with patience and luck.
