really smart, academic, creative and intelligent people know that fiddles didn’t exist in ancient Rome and that Nero was actually in Antium at the time of the fire.
I don’t look at arrows. I see red and start firing.
so what you’re asking for is a new release to purchase
Microsoft now takes bitcoins as a form of payment; why doesn’t ANet?
Because it’s a complicated ponzi scheme?
No GW2 map is big enough or complex enough to require mounts.
I just tell people like that something like:
- You are a God and we all worship the ground you walk on.
- Your shining magnificence makes my life seem shallow and meaningless in comparison.
- My inability to move pixels as quickly or precisely as you has left me bereft of hope, a devastated shell of a man.
- My entire concept of self-worth is videogame-based and my failures in the virtual world taint my life in the real world.
- My wife told she was leaving me for someone who plays GW2 like “a real man” and my children tell their friends I died in an EVE Online conspiracy gone wrong.
Then I point out that instead of practicing virtual combat, I make love to my wife and parent my children. Haters be hatin’ people with actual accomplishments.
if dungeons weren’t only about killing fast, then we’d see pretty much all complaints stop.
I’d just like to point out that dungeons aren’t really about killing fast. What’s happening is that people want to grind cash fast, and, as a result, running dungeons fast becomes a goal of its own. The meta isn’t really about running dungeons quickly, it’s a gold/hour calculation.
Your general point makes sense though.
Just a bit of a public service announcement.
Thank you for warning us about your delusions of grandeur.
I’m on Blackgate and so far I’ve never had skill lag. What happens for me is that when the huge zergs meet I get the FPS issue until I finally crash. Lately though, I’ve noticed something else. Sometimes I will get crashes without zerg on zerg or when leaving for LA. When it happens, I notice that I get a “script has stopped responding” error from my browser that is open in the background. Just my 2cents
Go go Godzilla, yeah eh eh eh
While it isn’t too difficult to figure out where a zerg is, sometimes I get the feeling it’s more than that. The other day there were 2 or 3 commanders off and on during the time I was playing. But there was one particular commander who seemed to end up wiping his group on a strangely regular basis. I and a couple of other WvW people joined his group at a gate. They were taking forever and getting sniped pretty hard. So we put up catas quickly and brought the door down to 10% or so. At that exact moment, the commander suddenly declared we were moving on and “would come back later.” Which was weird since we were about to bring down the door and there were fewer defenders than attackers. He then lead us over to the forge and got 25+ people to stand around doing nothing for about a minute until a zerg came in and smashed the group. He was either the worst commander ever or he was trolling pretty hard. Hard to believe he was quite that bad.

All thieves should be immobilized on first hit, all skills and abilities should have a 2 sec cast time, stealth should only be usable while logged out, and they should always be moved to last in queue when they get to first in queue. PLUS all their skills should deal zero damage and all conditions they deal should be cleansed by moving in any direction.
Hahahahahaha, oh my these forums never change. Prove something beyond any doubt, people still say its false.
So… where’s your proof?
I sometimes lay there for 2-3 mins to see if someone can rez me. But only if the WP is rather far away (which is the case in Silverwastes). The problem is that you sometimes get downed extremely fast. I usually run Berserker gear only and in the cluttered enemy areas there are single attacks that can almost insta down you. I can’t simply play always fully concentrated, especially when I play several hours.
It takes a lot less time than that to run from the WP.
He’s not lying, he showed it with pictures and recordings. When he put 180 rare gs in the mf, he always gets a dusk or dawn. That luck is too much and unfair.
Some guildies tried to do the same with 180 rare gs and guess what? Nothing of course. Nothing in the past 4 days. And that guildie keeps getting dusk/dawn.
I tried with a lot of rare gs but guess what?: n-o-t-h-i-n-g.
Assuming that your post is for real, do you not get what he’s doing? He just got a bunch of people to flush tons of GS down the drain. If he sent you links to recordings, post them here. Otherwise… well… its the interwebz, you know?
This is mainly an issue of stupid, greedy people. How anyone can do the mental math and count the seconds it takes to get from WP to event and then sit there saying “res res” like a moron? On the flip side, how many people see dead people for more than 20 secs and not tell them “respawn, moron”?
i was thinking about WvW in particular, actually. The stealth is delayed automatically, so your only options after going down are to attack with throw dagger, move with teleport, or bandage. But if you’re immobile for more than 2 consecutive seconds, you’ll be AoE’d to death or your attacker will stomp you. If you teleport, assuming the best terrain features and furthest distance, you simply delay the inevitable stomp by the time it takes the attacker to move that distance. But even teleporting is iffy, since there is a delay between being downed and accessing your downed skills. I don’t play other classes regularly so I"m not familiar with their down skills, but I’ve seen plenty of other downed players in WvW do all sorts of interesting things to save themselves. Is there some particular reason that thieves get kittened so hard?
Is there a particular way to maximize your use of downed skills? Ever since the stealth/aggression changes long ago, the stealth skill seems to have no use and teleport skill is seriously hampered by terrain. Because those two skills aren’t synched up, the seemingly logical use of stealth then teleport is delayed beyond logical use, unless you just happen to have some very weak NPC on you (in WvW that’s never the case).
Any advice appreciated!
Perhaps it should be that to get points, it’s not enough to have flipped it, you have to be present. Like the ruins. That would encourage holding groups and discourage trains.
5-10 player groups just have to use catapults or trebuchets from a distance. They can still be hit by siege disablers but it’s easier to counter.
Not when they can be thrown from stealth, or by a warrior that can pop immunity and run strait up to it.
Really the only chance small groups had was the element of surprise. Before you’d end up fighting the small group that showed up to scout the swords, now they can just delay you and call in a zerg.
That doesn’t equal fights, it equals bigger blobs and more bandwaggoning.
It works the other way too. The only way a smaller group can defend is to delay. If a zerg comes with a bunch of rams, what can the smaller group do? Nothing.
3 nights ago I watched a DB zerg melt our gates in our T3 Garri by PvDing them down. They disabled a good chunk of our defense siege and they spike built sup ac’s to wipe out the rest of our siege (even hitting some spots that seemed like they shouldn’t have been able to be targeted). I would disable their ac’s and they would just spike build another. I don’t think it took them even 5 minutes to flip the keep.
Disablers did nothing to help us, they actually made it much easier for the larger zerg because they were able to negate our defenses while they PvDoor.
So you used disablers, but they used them too? Sure the disablers helped you, it’s just that their disablers helped them too.
perhaps you can just move your xp around. you don’t gain more, you just take it off character 1 and put it on character 2. Kind of like trait points.
What qualifies as “acutal content”? Because if it’s repeatable, everyone will know exactly where to focus their grind. That’s okay with me, because it will likely bring the costs down. I’ve played two years and have never gotten one in a drop. It would be nice to be able to either afford one or know where to focus my efforts.

No human being is an “it”. Rude.
Actually there are people that doesn’t see themselves as male or female, and for lack of better word “it” would be used for them.
regardless of the gender debate, all human beings are “its”; they fit the definition of creatures, animals, beings, and other non-gender-specific nouns.
It is incredibly easy and fast to level up. You can get to 18 in an hour or two of focused play. Especially if you’ve got higher level friends to help you out.
Last night an long missing guild mate joined GW2 and we told him to get through the tutorial and he could come and WVW with us. Much to our surprise he could not due to the fact that he was not level 18. When did this happen? Why did this happen? One of the greatest thing about the game was being able to do WVW or PVE with the guild at any level. Not a new player friendly change.
Because people were abusing it to create troll siege and do other annoying things

GW 2 release date: August 28, 2012

Just because someone is on TS and active, doesn’t mean they aren’t a spy. In fact, that’s the best way to spy, because the rest of the people on that TS drop their guard. In games like EVE Online, where spying is part of the game, no amount of vetting can prevent it. You just have to play with one more layer of meta in mind.
I thought they changed the way mobs react to stealth, so that they do not reset anymore.
Correct.
what they did was to make the reset not instantaneous. but if you let more than a few seconds go by, they will reset.
if winners aren’t announced and nothing is ever published, it may as well have never happened. In fact, maybe it DIDN’T ever happen, how would we know?
Mordrem Vile Trasher got nerfed too. They used to be immune to damage when rotating. Now they’re just defenseless from behind.
i don’t go for this sort of thing, but this was high-lair-ee-us
expansion pack is code for “60 more dollars for new software”
There’s also Dodge.
I never use stealth during PvE. It’s not really necessary unless you’re trying to skip something. I know a lot of people trash P/P, but I have zero trouble killing absolutely everything in PvE.
thoughtless drivel
So basically, no more stealth.
Thinking only in terms of 1v1 or very small group:
- Thief vs Anyone with AoE, no stealth
- Thief vs Anyone with bleed condis, no stealth
Thief vs Anyone with burn condis, no stealth - Thief vs Ranger, no stealth
- Anyone with Aegis active, no stealth
Or, in other words, AoE to reveal, apply bleed/burn, no more stealth for remainder of fight, which won’t be long, because the thief has low HP even under the best circumstances. Any group with a ranger, no stealth immediately and revealed with sic ’em.
Take this to the medium to large group level with a mix of classes and it is literally impossible to stealth.
So what mechanic are you going to give thieves in exchange for permanently removing stealth from any combat scenario?
whining about whining. how meta
Maybe barbershop quartet outfits?
edit: srsly, who doesn’t want to see wvw havoc squads in red/white stripes and boater hats wreaking mayhem?
You realise characters say things anyway when they get swiftness (or any other boon or condition)? What makes this any different from “I could outrun a centaur”?
As a hearing impaired person, volume is irrelevant to me. However, the difference between the two things mentioned in the thread is: one is visible text, the other isn’t. Even as just visible text the talking backpack has become quite annoying.
And tap shoes. I would dearly love to tap my way to victory in WvW
And stiletto heels for the ladies (or men who are so inclined) to jab into the necks of those who would oppress us
I think we need tuxedoes. What could be better for defeating evil after 6 pm?
If you want to challenge yourself, play a P/P thief. Just staying alive is a rewarding challenge.
P/P for life, yo.
edit: i’ve played nothing BUT P/P in wvw. One day. One day anet will reward me.
All MMO-type game servers that operate legally in China must have a server on Chinese soil and inside the Great Firewall.
I think we need stoles. Preferably fur.
No one seems to have noticed the new titles in the Silverwastes. My two favorites are:
The Executioner
The Annihilator
I just did some quick calcs during my lunch break. I used the formulas from the wiki for average damage with critical chance and the power info for base damage. I used the power and crit information from the d/p power build and my build (or at least a version I had at one point when I was playing around). I used the 981 number for an exotic dagger (and co-eff from wiki entry) and plugged it in:
dagger——-power——-co-eff——-damage/hit
981————-2153———-0.56———-454.9123385
981————-2415———-0.56———-510.2709231
Higher power, more damage. Obvious.
Then I added in the crit average damage information:
Crit chance———crit dmg———avg dmg
0.73 —-——————1.98—————-780.3566254 <— Higher w/ crit heavy build
0.3————————-2.17 —-———-689.3760171
That doesn’t take the procs or other things into account. Nor does it consider the much higher HP of the power build. There’s definitely a more nuanced balancing act going on. This thread has been a good education for me. Thanks for the information.
I’m just going to say straw hat, even though there are many different kinds and variations and names of these hats, even inside of countries and cultures, there are different types.
Don’t forget different time periods and purposes.
To OP:
The more general term is jingasa (note the sub searches at top of page)
Sugegasa (lots of conical)
The ingame hat looks like a cross between sugegasa and roningasa (these appear in lots of samurai films)
You chose takuhatsugasa, which is for monks who want to intentionally limit their view of the world and the world’s view of them.
But what the ingame hat really is, is a copy from Total War (note the hanging things)
((Seriously, anytime you guys want to argue on the finer points between a Fedora and a Homburg, or argue about the differences between a Capitano hat and a Cavalier hat, let me know.))
Suuuuurre. We’ll do that. :P
This mini game suffers from participation problems. There’s a lot to like about it, but it’s one of those things that doesn’t play like it was probably planned. I skipped it this year.
