A year and a half ago, the idea of dps meters would have been shot down on the forums pretty much immediately – and rightfully so.

That is the same way I feel about them today. While some would use them productively, the last thing we need is another tool for hateful and toxic players to shame or belittle others – and we all know that is exactly what would happen (because many of us have seen it time and again in other games – and because we can all probably identify at least a few players in GW2 now that would use it exactly that way).

DPS meters can be used for good reasons – but those reasons will never outweigh the potential toxicity they would bring to the game. They need to be kept as far from GW2 as absolutely possible.

No, you are wrong.
Fully fledged out DPS meters like Skada in WoW and the one i forgot the name of in Final Fantasy do more than just show DPS.
Additionally they show Damage done, HPS, Healing done, Healing recieved, Interrupts done, damage recieved (and by what skill of the boss/trash mob they got hit).

A tool like this is incredibly helpful to work on mistakes you might not even notice, it makes evaluating a failed boss attemp so much easier.
DPS meters in the sense of “do 30k DPS or you’re out” are loooong gone, so stop being stuck with your limited mindset

Please, you really don’t need that in GW2. If a boss is going to do a skill that will one shot you, there is alway a tell tail animation before hand, failing that there are hit markers on the floor, if you miss them, you are not paying attention. You don’t need a DPS meter to tell you that. If people do maybe they need to be playing simple games, like Mario or Sonic.

So what’s your point here? Disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing as that is everything you are able to do?

If you can mot see my point then maybe you need to re read what I said, in some games DPS meters are useful, Guild Wars 2 is not a game where it would be useful for the reasons you gave why it would be good. I can explain it to you, I can’t understand it to you.

It would be useful, maybe not to you but it would be useful.

With your thought process on this there should be no MMOs or other Multiplayer games because of the potential toxicity will always outweigh the good, Toxicity has been in this game since the earliest inception it hasn’t raised or lowered except for perceived toxicity. Plus people have shot down the use of personal only DPS meters that don’t show anyone else’s numbers because “reasons”…

It’s better to have more tools than not to have enough.

Re rewards: I’ll just point out, again, that all game modes have exclusive rewards.

Really only deserves one sentence at this point.

He doesn’t care, he/she/it only wants the rewards he feels he can’t get normally. Never have I seen him actually advocate on getting alternate methods of acquisition for all Legendary rewards.

As far as traits go I use Havoc and Bound instead right now which helps CnD with Steal make up for Mug and some of DA a bit. I tried using Brawlers for Channeled Vigor since I’m already using all Physical apart from Shadowstep anyway but felt more of a “thud” instead of a “vwap” on anything deliberate and with some commanders or groups I still use Withdraw. I haven’t felt many Endurance gaps really staggering dodges with evade skills like Flanking Strike.

The theme is easy mode with Staff but if you land on something reliable for S/D post here please. I found using that build that in small fights I’ll use PI and Pain Response and in large fights where I’m sniping Boon drivers I switch to EA and Instant Reflexes. Escapist with IR seems to let me weave in and out and hover enough to strip the boons I need to in order to make an opening so I can Steal a Fear or Axes maybe and Shadowstep one of those to where I can get sure evades real quick for Steal cooldown to strip some more boons before I cycle out for a big heal.

Again, if something clicks with you and you find a balance that makes sense then let us know. It’s frustrating hammering out the compromises with this set and I don’t have fun switching traits between combat. Thanks for sharing the build.

No problem, S/D has always been my favorite Set and I am trying to find a Build that can maximize its benefits so right now I am Testing out a lot which my ingame wallet is hating hahaha.

I have read many of the threads. Many of the people asking for an easier mode just want access to the story involved in the raids. A lot of them could give a rat’s kitten less about the armor. Several have even explicitly said that the ability to earn items towards the armor could be removed from the easier mode.

There are ways to balance out ‘difficulty.’ You equate difficulty to skill, others may equate it to stamina and perseverance. You don’t view it that way, fine, that’s your opinion. Doesn’t make it right.

Third if they were interested in raids they would find a way to do them, if they have time to spend in game they have time to work raids into that playtime, it comes down to the players priorities and effort, I have limited time to play this game I am still able to get done what I want in my limited time. I’m one of those people that would like to give raiding a try. However, I’ve not been able to find a NA group that does it between 8am and 10am weekend mornings when I’m available and PuGs at that time of day for anything are not plentiful.

Nor do groups want someone that can only give maybe an hour to an hour and a half on a weekday night on an inconsistent bases because my life doesn’t kittening revolve around a game. I’m sorry I’m a responsible adult with a job, a commute time, and a family. That’s not a lack of motivation, desire, or effort (because I’ve obviously looked and been turned down).

So take your self–righteous assumptions and shove them.

I have gone through those post there were maybe 2-3 people generally only wanting the story, when there were more trying to use that as a way to get an easier road to Legendary Armor.

There are more than just NA guilds that raid on NA servers look around you would be surprised by the OCX/SEA guilds that raid. And I am a responsible adult that has a full time job a Family and I am able to balance in time for this video game to accomplish what I want. you are providing excuses that’s fine that’s up to you, and it impacts me not one bit if you raid or not, or put forth the effort no need to justify yourself to me, I couldn’t careless, I am just a nameless person on the internet.

First, many (likely most) have not asked for it be easier. They have only asked for an alternative option. So stop making assumptions that options equate to “easy” because they don’t.

Yes but most also say it will take longer more time less difficult but same effort, you want same time or even quicker for your implementation and that dont cut it mate.

Time =/= Effort period.

If it takes the same time and equivalent Effort to have a reward track then that is a perfect solution since there is absolutely no difficulty to World Exploration it’s just a time sink of about 16 hrs (which can be done faster if speed clearing) which doesn’t include all the PvE collection requirements for said Legenendaries. to complete for two Gifts of Exploration, so let’s see a time sink of 8 hrs (can be shortened with Boosters) awarding one GoE is the exact same. with my idea I have advocated that if implemented PvE gets a way to acquire GoB.

So again until you advocate for all game modes get access to all Legendaries You are equivalent to whining for a shiny you can’t otherwise get without putting forth similar effort, my idea implementation fits both the time and requirement efforts involved.

Here is a thought. The heal you took offers 1800 more healing with full endurance. Rune of the adventurer offers endurance on heal. At the cost of some power that extra healing every 16 seconds should make up for healing lost from the Vampirism traits. (Ie you at full endurance more often when the heal kicks in).

This of course offers 50 more endurance per heal for another dodge which with bounding might help mitigate damage loss from the loss of Power from Vampirism to an extent. Of course this only if you take bounding over UC

I totally forgot about Adventurer Runes since it is a Condi main stat, that would be dirty gain 85 Endurance on a full Channel every 16 seconds, but I won’t give up UC for Bounding Dodger. The 100% Endurance Regen does well I am experimenting with Runes currently the Vampirism adds Dps on top of sustain with the Leeches and they are unblockable which helps in most match ups.

Ofcourse it will have something new a new skin for your legendary armor. + new minis new weapon skins etc.

We don’t yet have Legendary Armor but once we do, the Raid after that will need to offer something new. Why an armor skin again? To take another couple of years to create? That’s an extra time better spent creating armor skins for other types of content, provided it’s the same armor skin team that creates the legendary armor and other armor sets. If they go with a Raid per year, which is possible, that would be one legendary armor set per year… combined with the precursor armor skins, that would mean their entire armor skin team would be working on legendary armors every year.

On the other hand, a trinket shouldn’t require as much time, if any time, and backpacks would take a fraction of the time since they look the same regardless of race/gender. Plus, getting ascended trinkets is stupidly easy and cheap, so a legendary version won’t be the same kind of improvement as legendary armor is.

Why should raid be the only content that get new exclusive things?

There are exclusive things in every Living World episode so far.

Fractal same thing with the fractal weapons untill the backpack droped but then you can get that in spvp aswell so dubble the paths to get it compared to armor.

One more reason to give a Legendary backpack in a next raid instead of a new armor set.

Well you can get a way to earn the 15% currency aura next raid and the open world people get the legendary armor deal?
And since you will chase new skins in the new raid the old legendary armor and its skins should be fine to put out in open world content I mean its old you dont want that you want the new shiny.

How about you get Legendary Armor in Open Pve when WvW /Pvp gets Access to the Legendary Weapons( to include all HoT).

If you want that start asking for reward tracks that unlock map poi, vista, waypoints for each of the maps then mate.
Ofcourse it would take 2-3 times longer to do then doing the map normaly.
Its asking for a easier but more time consuming way to earn the maguma exploration just like peope are asking for with armor in raids.

To this date I havent seen anyone of you people ask for it tho only useing it as an argument to shut people up when they ask for.

We have asked for it for years, to no effect. I still ask for it and they don’t have to take longer they could have one reward track that awards one GoE guess what that will be on par with The Map comp GoE since it can take 16 hours for 2 GoE boom problem solved I have asked for it before Anet has refused to implement it, it would be equivalent time to acquire in the gamemodes so don’t try to say

Maybe if you Advocated for all Legendaries being accessible in all modes people would take you seriously and not see you as someone whining because they can’t get a shiny without putting forth the required Effort for said shinies, but no you only want an easy method for the one shiny you can’t get.

The question still stands, how is adding the same rewards on other types of content going to increase raid accessibility?

Adding other avenues to get rewards is going to increase reward accessibility (as well as cut down on possibility that players after those rewards will end up disliking the game due to having to farm them in the content they strongly dislike). Raid accessibility on the other hand would be increased by easy mode.

Your system has literally been discussed for over a year why it is not a better system.

And yet after that year we still don’t have any answer on this. Can it be because the assumption made in that question might be untrue?

It is never a good thing to take away incentives from doing any content by placing them in an easier method to acquire them.

Only if said incentives are not used to push people toward content they do not like.

Easier Raids will make them not Raids, since the intent/design/concept/implementation of raids in Gw2 is to be the Hardest PvE content there is, so easier mode will make them not Raids which will not increase raid accessibility, but having introductory encounters at the beginning of each Raid wing would increase raid accessibility with out diminishing what raids are and would give a very solid stepping stone into Raid content and they can attempt the higher difficulty encounters once they feel confident enough, good Thing Anet is looking to implement that solution.

And you mean like all the incentives forcing players to do Open World Pve to acquire the majority of valuable items in game that can’t be had in any other content? It seems like you only care about incentives not forcing people into content when it is behind something with a little difficulty, I have yet to see you or others advocate to get all Legendary Incentives implemented in all game modes, only that you want them easily acccesible to you in easy Pve gamemodes.

Indeed. Good thing I mentioned twice in the OP that it was not the topic.

The challenge mote gets rid of the one the key design constraint of fractals which is to allow any comp to clean it. This is the reason why you have a DPS check on Siax only in the challenge mote and not in the regular version.

However the future fractals (bar their hypothetical challenge motes) will still be made according to the usual constraint.

Let me get this straight, you are complaining that the Nightmare Fractal doesn’t give enough Challenge and no trashmobs and want trashmobs and more challenge added while stating the challenge mote does exactly that, am I getting that right?

You have the option to get exactly what you want Anet provided it in the form of the Challenge Mote…

I am not sure why use S/P if you are using unhindered combatant, wouldn’t Bounding Dodger be better, for the Cloak?
I also suggest you use Flanking Strike in the Tr tree, your sword will hurt enormously.
I think there needs to be more cohesion and synergy in this build.

Was supposed to be S/D not S/P, I am on my phone and fat fingered the pistol on the OH, updated and put the correct link.

Fun is very subjective, and depends on the game mode/style of play, I recently picked up Rev for WvW small group roaming and I have a blast until I run into the small group running all Condi builds then it’s a bad time.

Not really sure that I agree off-season ranked is where you find people with a similar skill level. Realistically you just have to be dedicated to self-improvement and try your best to carry the team in the off-season. Not that you shouldn’t do that during the season, but in the off-season you’re going to have to carry no matter what. If you want better teammates then you need to queue with them rather than expecting MMR to do it for you.

The new Ranked Season coming out will be solo/duo queue so no more actually queueing with a team for a team game mode….

So decided to switch up my build a bit recently, and started running This, the idea is to Generate 100% Endurance Regen as well as maximizing on the amount of evades, this won’t provide anything in the means of burst but with the amount of Boon Strips and kiting potential it should be able to whittle down most classes.

Any input on swapping things out or improvements feel free to comment, just bored musings/looking to change it up.

Well, that simply means some info could be more openly clear to all.

For example they could have shown all items in the HoT recipe tab, greyed out with a lof on them with a mouse over indicating what is needed to unlock that content.

Like the collector items for the gliders in the other HoT maps.

Digging for info takes all kind of forms.. I Wiki’d before, went to WvW maps and it wasn’t explicitly clear that there was that requirement. So maybe we should update the wiki to mention it at least.

No like an item in game like the Total make over kit States in the description it does not include a name change and people upset that it wasn’t more clear before buying two..

OP is right. Regardless of his gameplay (whether he took the 1v1 or not), using UA should only trigger confusion for 5 attacks. Perhaps the lifesteal proc is triggering confusion as well?

The UA only activates Confusion once, which is on the initial Skill activation, which I tested last night, this is working as it is supposed to, it shouldn’t proc 5 times since you only activate the skill once…

Welcome to the Thief Community. I am glad you chose us Thieves instead of those butterfly people.

If you want pure scouting, I suggest S/D. (#3) is amazing for evades, you get unhindered combatant, it has a sexy style to it and even more dodge and movement speed. Idk how new you are, but when you are in trouble you can pop Shadow Refuge. (hide in one corner for extra safety).

S/D #5 is Cloak and Dagger (CD) it will help you clear camps, and hide when enemies approach, it might be the most important ability you’ll use, so master it well.

With obviously the standard issue Shortbow. Self- explanatory.
Now I know S/D is less safer than D/P, but you’ ll have a more fun with S/D, and evading endless attacks and making it out alive is great feeling.

I hope you enjoy it.

quick tips: Don’t hesitate using the healing skill, before the Signet, it help replenish your endurance, so you get more dodge, more speed,etc.

S/D is nice for scouting but on demand stealth is a must. And with the tried Ninja Nerf to IS jump casting it became even worse limiting The mobility. Don’t get me wrong I run S/D in WvW but it is by no means better than D/P when scouting and being able to remain undetected.

Also the build you linked is missing the WvW selection for weapons/armor stats and food and so on which are the staples to Thief builds in WvW.

Personally, I’d just delete the profession and divide up all its parts to the other professions, altering where necessary.

But for real it seems like Anet scoured the Class Sub forums took the ideas for those classes and smashed them into Revenant. They could use a few tweaks and minor redesigns on some traits /skills and would be fine. Like a stunbreak and Condi clear in all Legends.

I tested the UA bug it is either fixed or intermittent, I had a Guildie hop on his Thief and trait for Confusion on steal and only that trait so no other damage would interfere with results, what I was able to determine was that Confusion now only procs for the Skill activation and no more additional times, and two the Confusion proc and Ticks didn’t show up in the combat log. You can test it out yourself if you would like but as of right now it seems to working as intended.

Yes, I would not even take you into my group if you linked exotic accessiories.

What content are you doing that the difference between exotics and ascended matters? Raids and T3-4 fractals? Sure. But dungeons? T1 Fracts (and even many T2)? PvE meta?

Of course, it’s your group, so it’s entirely up to you. I’d rather have players who know their profs, regardless of whether they are too cheap to get ascended.

Even in raids it’s debatable if Full Ascended trinkets are “needed” Exptics work fine iff the player understands their class.

Why does Open world Pve have a monopoly on Legendary weapons locked behind it? Why does only that gamemode get this utility?

Too bad the Legendary Weapons are provided by the Hosting community and not Anet…. they only provide Lamas and Gems…..

The best scouting builds for you would be the quintessential Power D/P and SB DA/Tr/DrD or for more of your playstyle will be SA/Tr/DrD for higher Stealth and Movement speed in stealth. Run Channeled Vigor, Shadowstep, Blinding Powder, and Signet of Agility. Use Full Marauder or Marauder/Zerker mix so you don’t lose damage but have survivability, Use Scholar or Scrapper Runes, Runes of the Pack are nice but highly unnecessary.

With D/P you can group all camp mobs and lay BP fields blinding them and AA them dodge and heal as needed.

Yeah I swap between my S/D Thief and Rev depending on what I am finding more of on opposing teams. Like this match up is groups of Condi builds mainly Condi Mesmers, in groups of 6-8 running around.

What Jugglemonkey said is spot on. Rev isn’t great solo. But is strong in a small organized group and is very good in a zerg.

When solo I “Swap Legend Class” to Warrior and feel totally comfortable roaming solo.

Lol, I can understand that. I have been running more Small Group than Solo normally 3-5 man groups.

Yea I tested today and only the one proc multiple times.

The odd thing was Confusion procs weren’t showing in damage log at all.

Idk… I didn’t get even single multyproc, though I tried >10 times in different ways.
Wiki writes ppl. At least it should include word “sometimes”. Mb there are certain circumstances when it multy procs but I din’t find any.
I checked combat log. But to be sure I did check left health points too. With “Show target health percent” option on. My friend rev got same hp left on single use of any skill including UA. The only times when he got less HP % was the times when he acciddently made additional autoattcks in close range after UA or other skill.

I meant that it only proc’ed Confusion once tested it multiple times. But none of the procs showed in the combat log.

Seems there is no bug (active part of confusion damage triggers only 1 time on UA). I did comment on my tests here:

It can still be a different case, sometimes it bugs out and sometimes it doesn’t maybe?

They need to actually fix the traits that they changed the corresponding Legends/Skills for before launch I feel that is one of the big things hindering the Revenant, as well as needing to do a sweep of the Core Legends and the Skills are over costed compared to Glint Skills.

Yes I seen that they are unlocked only when you complete the provision Master Trait line or they simply don’t show up.

Wasn’t trying to harsh but the amount of misinformation or people not reading ingame items/services have increased significantly that I have lost patience with em.

It might be true for the person who said it (the notary vendor’s offerings vary depending on account/character). Or they might have mis-remembered.

The only time it varies is if the character doesn’t have the Provisioner unlocked the runes are always there:

Ahem…. let me get back to the original point of my post. I believe that the GOB should be a universal item for everyone to get. I am talking across the board a way to achieve it in PVE, PVP and WVW. I am concerned that we are being directed into areas of the game that we as players do not want to do. It segregates us from the rest of the community or forces us to comply with areas of the game that we have no interest in. This argument has been a long one that goes back to the very beginning. Many suggestions have been made including creating a server for PVP, for PVE and for WVW people to participate on. Their have even been ideas to make the PVE world a have the option to be PVP within the game environment. I hate to talk of other games but I am referring to the WOW separation of server so the players can choose where and how they want to play.

As for the amount of time that it takes to achieve this item GOB I’d like to point out that even if I decided to sit in the WVW and just sit their I have no interest in running around just to collect exp for GOB. I will not attack other players so I am a victim in a situation where I need to constantly res and go again for (not sure how many hours) to get the one item I need. This is not a fun way to play a game.

Uhmm clearly you don’t know the mechanics of WvW participation, you don’t have to fight a single person or revive a single person and can get max participation within 10 minutes of stepping into WvW, you can do a pure PvE experience by flipping camps that are full of PvE mobs, Escorting Yaks, claiming Sentries and so on……

Again until they give GoE to WvW and PvP players for only doing those modes GoB should stay exclusive to WvW.

Yes to a condi range weapon (Pistol if one handed, Rifle if 2 handed – we don’t have enough professions using them).
No to hybrid weapons. They make me sick.

I’m not sure why. Never mind that they enable hybrid and experimental builds, but they also add a lot more cross-build flexibility to a profession, significantly expanding gameplay options. Bluntly, I don’t like that literally my only choice is Mace/Axe for a condi-focused build or S/x for a power based build on the Revenant, even when only considering melee options.

Because, for the most part (to paraphrase the Mighty Boosh), hybrid weapons combine two damage types to create something not quite as good as either.
As for weapon options, I get where you’re coming from. But from a balancing point of view, its easier to limit the amount of weapons each profession has. Else you get a clusterkitten of useless weapons like Warriors have.

Desperately trying to work out the Mighty Boosh line you’re referencing. Haven’t watched it in ages..

On topic I see where you’re coming from but agree with OP , there is something missing. Engi is the only other class with such a lack of weapons, but they get heavy compensation in the form of Kits. Having two legends doesn’t quite make up that difference.

It sort of seems like, instead of getting new weapons, Revs should lose access to weapon swap and instead have their current legend somehow modify their weapon skills. The addition of weapon swap after player feedback was to address a problem the profession has that weapon swap didn’t really fix – the fact that it severely lacks customizability due to the way each legend and each weapon operate within highly specific niches and are not generalized in any way.

All in all, something seems fundamentally wrong with the execution of the class and it needs to be revised in some significant way.

You mean like Ele? And the reason that Rev is Highly limited on weapons/Legends are the massive design changes to Legend skills without them redesigning Ttaitsand the addition of Weapon swap right before launch.

I am sorry to say, but although I enjoy the game, it more and more looks like ANet is finding rediculous ways to overcharge for simple services and to scam their loyal customers.

I recently changed 2 of my characters I have created over 4 years ago. The first one from female into a male and the second one from female into male. I thought the name would be changed as is logical to me when changing the sex.

Now I have a male with a female name and a female with a male name….

Cost to change this. 10 EUR per name change (800 Gems)!!!! I am sorry to say ANet, but those microtransactions and the amounts you are charging is just close to rediculous. Especially as you don´t warn people that you cannot change the name with the total makeover kit….!

The description on the total make over kit does not allude to name changes…… at all. They also sell a bundle of Name change and total make over that is discounted…… this is a you not paying attention issue not a service cost issue.

Eh if you are not aware there are multiple items and you read total makeover who let´s you change the sex of your character, I don´t think it is a strange thought that you will be able to change the name…or?

The services are all on the same page a simple mouse over would have alleviated this, The description of the total makeover literally only says

“A single character may modify their appearance settings for height, physique, skin color, markings, face, hair, even gender. Race and profession will remain the same. The kit is consumed on accepting a new appearance.”

Where does it even allude to a name change? It only talks about changing physical attributes and appearance not a name change…

I am curious where it was stated that the Seed that formed the Pale Tree was guarded by Mordrem. According to my memory, it was only stated that there were guardians, with no descriptors whatsoever. For all we know they could have been Forgotten enchanted weapons or armor. This is why, in my opinion, it seems most likely that they were seeds of lighting trees that were cleansed by forgotten, but my thoughts are just as speculative as any other.

They were stated to be powerful or monstrous plant creatures iirc.

Why are attacking so much with confusion on you? Literally not the,smartest thing to do

so you just recommend he afk’s in spawn then right? mesmers never stop applying confusion. if you cant clear it (rev cant) your dead.

If you have a large amount of stacks you can kite away and leave the point. On a Rev you have lots of blocks, evades, and other ways to avoid the confusion all together. I personally don’t try to 1v1 a condi mesmer on point though when playing my rev…..that’s just me tho.

Or you know Anet could actually try some QA and fix this bug since it’s right now the only multi hit skill that has this bug…..

Is confusion proc more than once per UA attack? Is that the problem?

Don’t tell me you guys are complaining because confusion procs one time per each attack of UA…..if it’s this you are complaining about that’s pretty embarrassing

the op has claimed several times. it provides 5+ times per UA attack. which is a bug. to which everyone instantly replied “LEARN2PLAY GIT GUD EXPLOITS R GUD FOR MESMER”

His wording is that1 UA attack procs 1 confusion damage. He goes to say that he’s getting hit for 5 confusion procs per UA use. That means he is being penalized for each of the 5 attacks of UA.

WORKING AS INTENDED PEOPLE.

Now if he was getting 10 procs of confusion per 1 UA use THAT would be a bug. This is simple a user error problem not an actual bug

Sorry but no since confusion is 1proc per skill activation not one proc per hit, otherwise Rapid fire, Unload, Hundred blades, Blurred Frenzy, Pistol Whip and so on would proc multiple Confusion procs which they don’t it only procs once. It is a known bug of UA.
