Are nodes themselves vanishing or just the map icons? Node icons on my map are very wonky in the Fen even if I’m not changing elevation. They constantly faze in and out. But the nodes themselves never vanish.
My theory has always been that if you stealth after a mob has already seen you (and the mobs in Bloodstone Fen seem to have a visual distance of 999,999,999) then they can continue to strike you, even at ridiculous ranges.
I welcome low health mobs. Mobs with tons of health aren’t more difficult, they’re just more annoying. I just wish some of the bosses weren’t such health sponges. Some of the champs have such large health pools but do so little damage that you can just auto-attack and then go and grab a drink, watch a movie, solve world hunger, and finally by the time you return they’ve died.
There is a keybind for it. Special action or something. Not sure about the action camera.
He should join the Inquest. Lots of job opportunities for the Asura that isn’t turned off by the threat of being blown up.
I’m confused. Isn’t half the female armor in the game already just a bikini with boots and gloves added on? You can already hide the gloves. Ask Anet for a boot hiding option and you’re all set.
Not sure what region the OP is in but before the server merge my server would be matched up against the same 2 servers for months (maybe even over a year). This isn’t a new problem and not easy to fix. Fresh match-ups mean blowout match-ups. It’s a hard system to make satisfy everyone.
I’ll play along.
I’d imagine Lion’s Arch would have a fairly subtropical climate and be quite warm in the summer. The Humidity would be a lot higher than 35% given its proximity to the ocean. It can snow in Lion’s Arch in the winter given past Wintersday festivities but that snow may be purely magical in nature. I’d say it would be say 60s in the winter and 90s in the summer with humidities high year around.
Divinity’s Reach being farther inland would have greater variation in temperature and probably lower humidity than Lion’s Arch. It is still in Kryta which is fairly similar throughout so I’d imagine on any given day temperatures would still be within several degrees of Lion’s Arch.
The Black Citadel I imagine would be much drier than Kryta. Given how much drier Ascalon is from Kryta, the pervailing wind pattern is probably west to east which leaves Ascalon in the rain shadow of the Shiverpeaks. There is still plenty of grassland and some forests in Ascalon so there is still enough of a moisture source coming from somewhere. While it may be dry, it will certainly have humidity higher than 0%. Even Death Valley is higher than 0%. I imagine much of Ascalon to be hot and dry in the summer time, say upper 90s and 20% or less humidity, but quite cool in the winter with conditions maybe in the 40s and 50s and more moisture in the air.
Hoelbrak would be a typical mountain climate. Below freezing during the winter but given how close it is to green grassland it may have some melt and warmer temperatures in the summer. Cold air has trouble holding a lot of moisture but mountains also trap moisture so humidity could be moderate.
The Grove and Rata Sum are probably somewhat more tropical than Lion’s Arch and they are probably humid all year long. 70s-80s in the winter and 90s in the summer with humidity very high.

Post what class you are using and we can be more specific in our help. In general, a lot of people use a passive trait that gives them 25% increased movement speed. People often use a skill that grants Swiftness (33% movement) as often as possible. There are also runes that go into armor that can grant increased movement speed.
More choices are always nice to have but as others have mentioned there are already a ton of daily choices and I just don’t feel it is worth developer energy to make any more changes to dailies at this time.
Not saying this is the case for the OP, but a lot of people have a very stubborn mindset about refusing to do WvW dailies just because they are PvE only. Close to half of all WvW dailies are the same as the PvE ones. One involves talking to an npc and spending badges. One involves killing a dolyak npc. Another involves killing 5 veteran npcs. Another is capturing a monument that is guarded by…npcs. A lot of these WvW dailies are 2 minutes or less to complete and play out just like any PvE daily would. Most can be done from the relative safety of the northern part of your home borderlands. If you go at reset time there will be other players running around going after those dailies as well that you can use as meat shields should evil enemy players come about.
I myself pretty much stick to PvE content but I never balk at the chance for a quick and easy WvW daily. More PvE daily options are nice, but are not needed at all.
I still like the Greatsword on my Necro/Reaper. Out of all the classes that can use it, only my Ranger doesn’t carry one.
HoT junk is a bit more numerous than Central Tyria junk. So you make slightly more money.
This is a classic case of where you really want an item but it never drops but when you don’t want it you end up with 20 of them. There’s usually someone on the map somewhere that has one.
In Map chat just now someone suggested off of Rata Sum. Heck yes.
My concern is that in cities gliding “out of bounds” will result in insta-deaths preventing any fun from occuring. They’ve added so many insta-death spots over the years to squash exploration.
I propose the following:
Categories – Subcategories (if needed)
Open World – Meta Events, Living World, General Gameplay
Raids – (A sub-category for each raid as new ones are introduced)
Fractals – scale 1-20, scale 21-50, scale 51-75, scale 76-100
Dungeons – (A sub-category for each dungeon)
Guild Recruitment – Looking for Players, Looking for Guild
Personal Story
Player vs. Player
World vs. World
It’s been a problem from day 1 and continues to get worse as fewer players play on those maps and most use the LFG tool to pile into a few active maps causing maps to close quite often. I’m not sure if Anet has acknowledged the issue or has any plans on fixing this any time soon.
When you first enter a HoT map I recommend using the LFG tool to try to get into an active map from the outset. This will solve most of the map closing issues and allow you to better participate in the meta events. Otherwise you’ll likely end up on dead maps the majority of the time.
Unless you plan on role playing in WvW, servers don’t matter anymore. Everyone uses the same mega-servers. I suppose you can ask which region has better RPers, NA or EU.

If you can only stomach the story one more time, it’s worth it to bring a Sylvari character through HoT to see the changes.
Also, Mordremoth offered me cookies. My Sylvari turned immediately. All will serve the jungle dragon!
Disaster strikes when we realize Kralkatorrik used leftover remnants of Snaff’s mind (imprinted on the dragon during his visit) to create a crystal clone of Snaff. This Snaff clone is an evil genius that builds crazy inventions and causes mayhem all over Tyria while saying “Die die die, die die die!”.
I just want to see the Crystal Desert but somehow I feel Jormag might be next. You could write a good story around someone finally damaging the tooth that starts a long chain of events that leads to defeating Jormag. Seeing the Far Shiverpeaks would be fun too.
Even if you had to download the entire game from scratch it shouldn’t take 14 hours. This sounds like something you need to work out with your internet provider because something is wrong with the connection. You could try reinstalling but I’m not sure that would help your downloading speed at all.
This is somewhat common. The map thinks there aren’t enough players on it so it starts the 1 hour closing timer. Then even if more players show up to play it will close anyways and boot everyone out after that 1 hour. It can happen on any map although people will only really notice it on the new HoT maps.
You want to know what’s ridiculous and embarrassing?
That you have to do this to play the game the way it was meant to be played.
Does this bother nobody? Am I the only one?
How does an open-world spontaneously dynamic game have to resort to this kitten -hattery to function and simply PLAY?
Nobody enjoys playing Taxi Wars 2, although most just go through the motions and don’t even think much about it anymore. If Anet would allow us to select between instances as easily as we could in GW1, life would be so much easier for everyone. But I’m not holding my breath that they will ever improve the system.
They are all solo adventures although a few of them can be influenced by other players (either positively or negatively). Awhile back I wrote a post of my recommendations of which adventures to run for players who just want the minimum number of mastery points from them that they need to max their mastery levels.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Navigating-the-Adventure-MPs
You have to show up right after reset. Then you either tag up and rally others to taxi players in or use the LFG and taxi yourself into a map that is running the meta. Players cannot zone in at their discretion and expect to play the map. I’m not fond of the system but it is what it is.
First, I really hope there is a feature pack in 2016. If so, these are some great quality of life improvements I’d like to see happen:
The 2016 Feature Pack!
Revamp the LFG system.
The LFG window was a nice little addition when it came out but it never felt like it was fully completed and it is no longer compatible with today’s game. The first issue to address is the initial list of categories players have to choose from.
Player vs. Player
World vs. World
Now that we have some more categories that players need there are a few other issues to address:
1. The UI needs to be updated to show what type of group the listing is for: Party, Raid, or Squad.
2. Commanders of Raids and Squads shall also be able to post on the LFG window.
3. Remove the Refresh button. It should be shown in real-time.
4. The LFG system needs to be more prominently positioned for players. It’s tucked away inside of a sub-set of your Friends list area. Not everyone goes shuffling through there. Make another menu icon for it at the top and make it a large Magnifying Glass or
something.
Revamp the Mega-Server system.
The mega-server system went a long way to solve a lot of map population issues that low-pop servers had. But as the game has evolved, the mega-server system has not. While it still works fine for general gameplay, it does not work well with map-wide events like some world bosses and the HoT metas. The following issues can arise quite frequently with the HoT metas:
1. Players often start out on dead maps. They must use the LFG system to taxi into a competitive map. Those in the know already begrudgingly go through this routine daily but to newer players and players who are tight on time, playing the LFG game every single time they want to play gets old really fast.
2. Maps do not hold a spot for players who are disconnected.
3. Maps that are low in population start the 1 hour closing timer and will then close even if it becomes populated again.
4. Players that are prompted to swap to a more populated map and choose to do so are then stripped of their progress.
I propose the following improvements:
1. Bring back the instance selectors from Guild Wars 1. Down by the mini-map have a dropdown menu that players can open and select from all of the instances of that map that they wish to travel to. Next to the name of each instance, have a simple population indicator. Overall have it display something like this: [Auric Basin: 1 FULL], [Auric Basin: 2 HIGH], [Auric Basin: 3 LOW]. Players can then choose the instance that best matches how they want to play the game (HIGH maps for the meta, LOW maps if they want to be left alone).
2. Maps must reserve spots for players who are disconnected (say 2 minutes). This reserved slot cannot be overridden by players trying to taxi their friends in. The spot will be counted as FULL for the duration until the player returns or the time runs out (then anyone can fill that slot). Spots are not reserved for players who purposely map travel somewhere else and then try to come back. This is only for log offs (disconnects).
3. To fix the closing maps issue, either lock the maps so that more players cannot arrive to a doomed map, or make it so the map closure timer stops if the map becomes populated again.
4. Players swapping between instances of the same map should always keep their map progress. Especially if it was the game itself that prompted them to move!
Create a Build Saver
This is one that kind of speaks for itself. Similar to the one in Guild Wars 1, make a menu that will save the players’ current Skills, Traits, and Gear setup and allow them to reload that setup whenever they are not in combat. Players should be able to save as many builds as they want and exchange builds with other friends/players just like in GW1.
Revamp the Dailies
The dailies have grown very stale and repetitive. More choices are always better and choices that players can accomplish naturally are better than choices that drag players around. The 3 dailies for 10 AP thing can stay. And the chest for each daily (even after the 3) is a good idea too. But we need more choices than 4 for each game mode and they need to be better choices.
PvE
Daily Gatherer: Gather 30 items from [Region] (Any ore, tree, plant from a random designated region)
Daily Activity: (Same as now)
Daily Fractal: Complete any 1 Fractal (the special daily fractals category can remain as is)
Daily Dungeon: Complete any 1 Dungeon
Daily Mystic Forger: (Same as now)
Daily Vista Viewer: (Same as now)
Daily Events: Complete 5 events from [Region] (a random designated region)
Daily World Boss: (Same as now but include HoT meta bosses)
Daily Crafter: Craft 10 items
Daily Jumping Puzzle: Complete 1 jumping puzzle
Daily Slayer: Kill 50 creatures from [Region]
Daily Champion: Kill 1 champion from [Region]
Daily Salvager: Salvage 10 items
Daily Dodger: Dodge 10 attacks
[Region] choices should include the new HoT zones.
The WvW dailies seem like they already cover most of what WvW has to offer. I don’t player PvP so someone else might have better ideas for new dailies there.
Miscellaneous
Here are a couple of other little things I’d like to see:
1. All old Town Clothes Tonics replaced with real outfits (free to those who have them)
2. More emotes! Bored, Guitar, Flute, Violin, Drum…
(edited by Boysenberry.1869)
I’m not sure why people keep thinking the game needs mounts when there are waypoints every 2 feet.
1. Heart of Thorns is for level 80 characters.
2. Heart of Thorns is the only expansion. (there is a small series of short missions called Season 2 that would need to be purchased seperately)
3. Underwater combat has all but been abandoned. If you need an underwater weapon, just visit the trading post.
4. As you level (even with the books) you will receive some new equipment but you will need to buy some gear to fill out the rest of your character.
New Instabilities coming soon* just for you!
Verdant Brink – Raideritis. 50% of all players will be afk by the raid.
Auric Basin – Fire Overhwelming. All elite frogs during Octovine are replaced with Balthazar champions.
Tangled Depths – Lost. Every 60 seconds you are teleported to a random dead end on the map.
Dragon’s Stand – Glass Pact. All Pact NPCs have 90% less health.
If nothing else having commander tags on a meta map provide some assurance that the map is organizing to tackle the main event.
A couple of things to note about this achievement:
1. You can die and return to the platform to kill some more and still earn the achievement.
2. There’s a bug where if the Wolves get too close to you on the platform, you cannot damage them. You’ll have to leave the platform and get them to move away from it.
Otherwise, yeah just target a wolf and press 1.
Question:
As a Lich, would Joko be able to exert his will over any remaining Risen he encountered given that those Risen are now without a Master? Joko is powerful enough to maintain a vast army of undead. Is he powerful enough to take control of opposing undead?
My only real gripe with Toypocalypse is that it takes too long and there’s too much downtime. Once you get your defenses up the mobs are insta-killed and you just kind of stand around for awhile until the next wave shows up. I would like it that after round 2-3 that all mobs show up at the same time to vastly speed up the process.
I prefer the Candycane Smasher thingy myself. It’s easier for me to smash objects and it provides good CC to break Toxx down faster.
Wasn’t there only like one non-event Skritt in Lion’s arch? You’d have swarms of players crowding around that one Skritt trying to beat out the other players by getting their hits in before someone else’s. I’d be happy if they just changed it so it works on all of the snowball fighter NPCs.
dun u get annoyed when you get thrown into a game that has ended?
Patience. If you end up in a game that’s almost ended simply wait a minute and you are guaranteed to end up in a brand new instance. One extra session of the one minute free-style over the course of however many sessions you want to go through isn’t that big a deal in the long run.
Here is a list of available upgrades. Not sure all are obtainable at the moment anymore.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Home_instance#List_of_home_instance_upgrades
They were all set to add the tree when Grawnk chopped it down because he needed more Hard Wood Logs to craft bar stools.
Is that Dec. 20th, 2016? Cuz Dec. 20th, 2015 is almost over. =/
Dec. 20th, 1999
Those were only available on the old Borderlands maps. Until those maps return, you cannot earn those achievements.
I’ve never been to a guild hall but when I first read about how they were handling instances I found it to be really bizarre. It would be like having Lion’s Arch hold only 10 people and then a new instance that only holds 25 and so on. In Guild Wars 1 (ald probably almost every game out there?) everyone just zoned into the same Guild Hall without any issues. Not sure why they would do it differently here.
I’m not sure how your setup is but my left mouse button functions the same as the right in regards to turning the camera and also keeps the character’s head facing forward. I always used to use the right mouse button until recently when I noticed that odd head turning thing so now I use the left mouse to view my character.
This is an atrocious bug and needs to be fixed ASAP. The people caught up in this should be compensated too.
There’s some silly iPhone game I used to play that whenever the game had a problem (be it server problems or a bug) they would very quickly send out some kind of reward to players that would normally have required money. When I would try to play and encounter a server error I would be thinking…“Yay! Free goodies coming my way!”
If a silly iPhone app can go to great lengths to keep their players happy, large multiplayer game companies should be doing the same thing. But I rarely see any game maker go out of their way to make it up to players.
I’m no economic guru but wouldn’t it always be better to wait until long after Wintersday ends to sell the gifts? People may still want to finish things that would otherwise be impossible without these gifts. Then you can name your price.
There are many uses for an unused character, many of which has been said already.
- Birthday Gifts
- Storage Space
- Parked at a Jumping Puzzle
- Parked in a specific region for that region’s gathering Daily should it arise.
- Parked at an easy XP HoT adventure (if you still need xp)
- Crafting Character (and associated mats)
- Armor/Outfit viewer (if the character is of a race you otherwise wouldn’t have)
It’s always best to just create new characters than delete old ones, especially if the old ones are…old. The perfect balance for me is 9 characters covering all races and classes.
I do recall a dev saying that each personal story step (the level 10s, the level 20s, etc…) only rewards one mastery point total across all races. You can’t repeat it with another race. If the wiki says otherwise, it is incorrect.
Yeah, there’s a 73 post thread about this very thing. But really when it comes to big movies or events, people are going to spoil it all over the place. In games, on social media, friends accidentally blabbing, etc. Everything is out there. If people don’t want to be spoiled they have to either see/do things immediately or turn everything on the internet off and hold your hands over your ears if you leave your house.
It’s hard to come up with a list when only you know what points you already have. Open up your achievement panel and scan through the mastery achievements (quick to do) and just pick one you think seems reasonable.
You have to taxi to get into a map that runs the event. If you just zone in and stand there you’ll rarely luck your way into a map that is actually participating. Also, as said above, you have to show up at the right time. If you show up 20 minutes before the timer and look for a map you will always be disappointed. There may also be fewer maps that usual count of Wintersday.
It’s not a great system, but you have to work with it to make it work for you.
It’s probably a bug because many (if not most) people are having a hard time getting into the JP. All you can do is keep trying over and over and over and over until you get lucky to get in.
If you look in your Hero tab under the Achievements section there are little green (HoT) and red (central) icons that appear next to categories and again next to the specific achievements themselves that need to be completed for that mastery point.
