They delete it faster so youre left with nothing else but shiro/glint. So much about “packages where everything is strong and viable”. At this point we should get ability to mix n match skills as they kittened big time. Just like with no cd utility skills cus we have energy management and that is “our” cooldown. 4 days later cd’s slapped on everything, phase traversal fails to teleport most of the time to this day.

Yeah, it’s essentially now become a point blank weapon, but believe it or not it can still work for you.
Phase traversal > precision strike (dmg + chill) > go to town with sword AA or UA instead if that’s your thing :-)

But they are nerfing diamond skin ele. With all the Rev nerfs can we get a little condi removal in this balance patch that’s not based on a boon that is easily stripped? Especially with Necro’s corrupt boon having a 15 second cool down and the scepter auto having it as well.

Last time i checked, chill been hitting like a truck. Not rare to see it tick for -800 up to 1k. And given how long you can keep it up on people along with 8 different trash conditions..
To get it that high, you’re dealing with 25 Vuln and Might simultaneously. Yes, Chill can hit hard, but when you really crunch the numbers, you see condi Reaper capping out at around 2.5k DPS. That’s hardly out of line when your attacks aren’t being dodged.
I currently do say that the changes to Scepter auto are a bad idea, however. Condi Reaper does not need a buff from today. The things locking it out of the meta are being changed (Diamond Skin Tempests) and as such, they will come into the competitive scene without needing buffs.
-800 is not that hard to achieve. Chill is problematic condition already as it reduces your skill recharge by 66%, also for condi cleanse. For reaper that has tons of it+kittenload of condi to cover it up it just end up broken. Old medi guard had a fair chance to beat necro..well try it now. Like you said, now that ele is gone reaper will become more than viable. With the upcoming buffs however he will become over the top and basically unstoppable by anything that isnt a thief/maybe druid. Dhuumfire 2.0 inc.

Also, everybody overreacting about the auto boon strip. Itll probably be 1 boon on third attack. Not sure if you realize it but most necros already run very heavy boon strip, and revenants are very viable. Corrupt boon buff is actually more impactful than the scepter auto one imo
You do realize that its only a part of boon hate necro gets, right? Without resistance rev is trash due to 0 condi removal and that now will easily be stripped, stab on dodge into fear going to be fun as well.
Signets strip boons but they also have long cd’s, we could cover resistance with f2. No more. Power builds already gets facerolled by anything with condi (and on top of that gets huge dps nerf), condi rev will be facerolled by reaper as we wont be able to keep up resistance with all the spamable boon corruption, condi transfers. Rev will be out of meta.

That’s fine and dandy, but I don’t want Sword to be near-worthless as soon as it turns into a 1vX or when a Mesmer/Ranger/MinionMancer shows up.
To make me happier with these changes, they need to make Precision Strike and UA single-target. We already know how deadly reflects can be, but at such close-range, you won’t be able to even react, so at least make our new burst not so random in bigger fights.
Precise strike doesnt make sense to be a ranged skill either way unless they boost velocity. As it stands now it will miss 99,9% times at 500+ range, most of the time at 300+ and sometimes even in close to melee range. Its so unreliable that its just waste of energy really. Gonna drop a troll vid here in few h to show patheitc it is. It is actually even worse in a real pvp scenario than the set up i made. Noone worth 2 coppers will even get hit by that.
And as you said if sword is now supposed to single out enemie why its not 1v1 focused and instead only gets weaker and weaker when more targets show up? Does thief sword damage decreases with more targets around or really any other weapon? Pure bs really. Nerfed ua just doesnt make sense to be a multi target ability anymore.

Super scary in 1v1 my kitten. The projectile is so slow that it miss even my grandma. How is that supposed to be scary? The skill itself is scary already. Scary at how horrible it is.
You underestimate it’s potential and damage (which, from what I heard on livestream gets even buffed) . These projectiles aren’t that slow as you say, track through the stealth, chill and if all 3 hit same target, they’re huge damage even now – test for yourself. 3 projectiles hitting Thief can take half of his health.
Um, no i dont. Unless you cast it in melee range chances for it to hit are next to 0 if you know basic mechanics of the game – strafing. Rev actually have become even weaker in teamfights/vs pet classes.
Also its not like something stopped you now from lining up precise strike in teamfights right? So what was buffed really? You gave me a example of the possiiblity to already hit with it up 3 times in a row which means theres no real buff. Precison strike unlike auto/ua is also affected by deflection/reflection. Looks fun to me, not only my healing can be reflected back to damage me and heal enemy, but now also my supposed “buffed” skill at the cost of auto and ua can get reflected back into my face.

Druid untouched. Based on other class nerfs he just became even stronger. Still fart out dazes, still tank, still has pet doing zerk damage and load of sustain
Scrapper untouched. Still going to hit like a truck with tons of sustain. On top of that gear shield got another buff – reduction to 13,4cd for a 3sec mobile block.. Not like you have to use it as scrapper either way.
Dragonhunter basically no changes. Minor nerf to test of faith which probably will result into pushing them back to medi as smite condi now will remove 2. Annoying daze on traps remains still.
Reaper – buffed to a whole new level of cancer, even more so with the new mercenary amulet
Tempest – i dont really perceive diamond skin as a nerf from condi rev point. Reaper will destroy them now as they have insane condi coverage tho
Mesmer/Chronomancer – This one have been deleted from season 2
Warrior/Berserker – “We fixed a bug which caused warriors to appear in ranked”
Daredevil – More sustain, 30% damage boost to all melee weapons on top of insta high burst and insane mobility which will result in pushing out all zerk builds out of meta once again and forcing people to run bunker if they dont want to be exploded in 2 seconds.
Revenant/Herald – Condi Mallyx build will become useless. Reaper will eat their resistance alive with no effort. Power one took huge hit as well and most likely will be replaced by a thief

Now that i look at my tooltip values between new sword and staff in wvw..i just lol.
794, 833, 937+281 sword – 2,2sec to complete chain. Total 2845 (3164 atm)
744, 859, 1,144 staff – also 2,2 sec to complete chain. Total 2747
Staff auto damage lower by about 3,5% only. Legit? Legit.
UA – 4097 after the patch. Atm 5026. In both cases it still worthless in teamfights, and in 1v1 situation it just got worse.
Surge of the Mists – 4383
In the end we are still better by spamming sword and staff auto with quickness than use UA. Precision strike assuming it even land and that no pet/something else is around it will be 3012, but im sure they nerf it into oblivion as well cus 4,5sec chill on 4cd is just broken

Even tempests go down from focus fire very quickly.
Not the results I had when I played the meta auramancer. I rarely ever died in 2v3s/3v3 unless I ate a lot of damage trying to ress someone.
When i played war skullcrack build my job was to focus tempest. The moment where they swapped attunement 4sec stun came into their face comboed with another 3sec stun from shield bash and daze on pummel.. Usually it didnt took longer than 10sec to kill a tempest in 2v1. Cc is super effective vs them.
And yet as we see tempest got a “nerf”. Druid 0? Where is logic in that?

The buffs are so stronk that i literally dont know what to say. When i saw cyclone axe in stream i cringed..
At the very least they could move crack shot to str adept line as there is literally nothing to choose from if you dont go for physical (read as rampage) skills.

Druid is fine except annoying 5sec immobilize with basically 10cd. Bristle and smokescale needs serious damage nerf. No bunker should hit as hard as zerker.

You probably missed my comprasion but do you understand that thief sword auto damage will do more damage than rev sword in current state? If bunker meta is gone, why buff thief damage to such ridiculous level? They already have insane insta burst, now followed by insane autoattack. Good luck with that. Berk/marauder builds will be pushed away and forced to run bunker (also rev) once again due thief.
We all know mesmer will be deleted from the game once again, bunker wont mean much anymore for them, shatter will be a freekill to thief.
And the most fun fact is unlike us power revenants, s/d daredevil has amazing condition cleanse due to the trait which removed contion on evade and condition removal on sword 2. Sword also comes with boon steal so yep, i dont see a reason to even try run a glass rev over thief, even less so given the fact that thief doesnt need target to use his mobility skills.

Compare rev and thief auto. Keep in mind that thief gets 30% damage boost so in fact they will higher damage from auto like current sword rev when the patch hit. Pair that with the insane burst/mobility thief has unlike rev and you can imagine where it goes.
Let me get it straight then. You nerf one class bc auto damage too strong, yet you buff other class on even higher level? Yep, nothing wrong with that, totally.
And while i could deal with the damage switch from auto..ua gets nerfed too, and the damage is moved to trash precision strike that will miss anyone witha single press of a/d..seems legit

I’m not getting the nerf talk on UA. They dropped 2 attacks from the 7 while buffing the remaining 5 by 5% each (dulfy has 10% ?).
Evade duration nerfed from 2 sec to 1.5sec, 2 might stack less, 20% damage nerf, ability to trigger kitten Shiro heal dropped from 4 daggers to 3.
And yet not changed to single target.
I forgot to mention that after this goes into live, smokescale ua will hit 2x harder than our own ua. 927 base damage per strike on smokescale compared to our 596 per strike depending on used rune. It feels good to be weaker than some freaking pet.

Wanna know why Shiro is superior to Jalis? I can immobilize Jalis/Glint all day long rendering you completely useless aka sitting duck. I can completely negate damage with riposting shadows that provides me endurance for another dodge for even more stab.
50% reduction doesnt make up for the ability to negate damage completely. While i evade over necro marks like a pro, you facetank it and in the long run take far more damage than me let it be from condi or power. Perma -800chill/sec is not a joke, and your only cleanse coming from Jalis heal and 50% reductiom from unreliable rite which can be interrupted and will be intterupted that you can cast only once every 15sec.
So in the end..what you gain from running Jalis over Shiro except reliable healing skill? Stunbreaks? Nope
Reliable stab? Nope
100% Damage negation? Nope
Mobility? Nope
Extremely weak to immobilize, cripple, chill? Yes
Extremely weak to condi (more than Shiro if you know how to play)? Yes
Extremely easy to focus down? Yes
Extremely easy to cc 100-0? Yes.
Please tell me more.

So why noone complains about true shot as well? It hits up to 5 too with low cd. Also most people that complains about CoR runs pure zerk spamming 1. They dont know how to position themself whatsoever so instead picking up something tankier they go yolo, there is no hell.
Got a nice example of squishies that coming to forum daily just to cry about CoR in one damage log. In this case damage is okay too as it doesnt say ruins right? I dont even run full zerk on my guard but a mix of ptv+zerk and traver runes and the damage was done with 2 might max, 0 vul on targets. One can imagine how much it would be with pure zerk and 25 might stacks along with maxed out traits for dps, not survival.
Both skills are projectiles so you can’t really use that skill in any real fight because there is always wall of reflection and when you go 1200 range reves put some CoR can you die.
So..make CoR a projectile and be done with it? Played sometimes with hammer in spvp even tho i hardly used it but now its just deleted in my eyes. This weapon has no damage whatsoever.

Lets break the “balance”
- Sword autoattack damage going down 10%ish. First auto attack gone down by 10%, 2nd autoattack gone down by 20%, third autoattack down by 10%.
Okay, seems deserved as i melded glass people with auto+quickness in seconds but!!!
- Precision Strike – now always launch 3 projectiles regardless of how many targets. Reduced the chill duration from 2s to 1.5s per projectile
Noone care, it remain a trash skill due to it projectile nature with speed of a turtle. On top of that cus of damage nerfs on auto we are even weaker vs “pet” classes and in teamfights half of the damage will go towards random trash. Wanna bet it will be nerfed soontm?
- Unrelenting Assault. Reduced the number of strikes from 7 to 5. Increased the damage of each strike by 5%
Yay for the nerfs, my surge feels so kitten strong now. With the changes done to UA it should become single target ability. But yeah, lets turn this skill into a joke, why not.
Overall changes to sword are terrible, basically just damage nerf with no compensation and it doesnt seems to have anything with “singling out enemies”. With a hope that it will become a 1v1 weapon i got back something that becomes a pure joke the moment +1/pet show up. Seems legit. Bravo guys, bravo
- Facet of Light – Initial activation will now have a cast time. You can no longer use it while being stunned/launched etc

(Mesmer got nerfed ONE time, Druid alrdy got nerfed 5 times post HoT launch). If they’re any closer to Mesmer, top team would have use 2 of them instead of 2 Mesmers already.
Stop lying and face the truth. Mesmer and Revenant are by far the strongest classes in this game atm by MILES.

Druid cleanse is unreliable (2 sec delay on every supposedly cleanse skill)Druid doesn’t even come close to Revenant and Mesmer atm, especially after bejillion nerfs already. (Mesmer got nerfed ONE time, Druid alrdy got nerfed 5 times post HoT launch). If they’re any closer to Mesmer, top team would have use 2 of them instead of 2 Mesmers already.
Stop lying and face the truth. Mesmer and Revenant are by far the strongest classes in this game atm by MILES.

Who has the most broken 1v1 build in entire game? Ability to bunker yet deal zerk damage and be braindead like old turret engis? Thats right, druid. You send druid far at beginning of the match and he pretyt much prevents the cap, send someone from mid to 2v1 and sure..but then mid is lost gg wp

So you think Mesmer is fine in its current state where it causes a meta that forces matches where neither team can even gain any points at all for up to several minutes? A class and build that causes teams to rage quit from tournaments with actual prizes? Or the fact that Well of Precog utterly breaks Stronghold mechanics?
Yeah no, Mesmer isn’t fine. There’s a bunch of things wrong with PvP at the moment and Mesmer has plunked its bottom down at the top of the list.
Top of the list? No. But yes, res mechanics were broken (not Chrono’s fault), Chrono bunker is a tough nut (but hardly the toughest), and the problems in PvP are many.
Top of the list is Bunker Tempest, hands down.

Oh and Ithilwen, now is not the time to say you were finally getting success on Mesmer after 4 years, even if it is true. -_-u
Anyone fight legit through legendary should notice that how broken Revenant and Chrono is. People who still fail to see it either are the abuser themselves and try to play victim, or complete scrubs who barely pvp.
Could say the same about druid and scrapper as well.

I like the effect and i want to stay it the way it is. I dont understand why RP person would complain about such thing. Despite wearing black-red-purple dyes these glows are not issue at all. They actually fit nicely.

Compare base damage and scaling. CoR comes out as junk, sure it has 2cd but its limited by range and is unreliable due to terrain issues. It miss even on flat terrain after all along with tracking issues.
So why noone complains about true shot as well? It hits up to 5 too with low cd. Also most people that complains about CoR runs pure zerk spamming 1. They dont know how to position themself whatsoever so instead picking up something tankier they go yolo, there is no hell.
Got a nice example of squishies that coming to forum daily just to cry about CoR in one damage log. In this case damage is okay too as it doesnt say ruins right? I dont even run full zerk on my guard but a mix of ptv+zerk and traver runes and the damage was done with 2 might max, 0 vul on targets. One can imagine how much it would be with pure zerk and 25 might stacks along with maxed out traits for dps, not survival.

Guys.. please. Wait for the review before you start complaining. I will be first to yell at Roy if the changes sux balls but we dont know their plans for rev now. We dont know if they reduce energy cost on wep skills, rework sword 2 to be a burst move or whatever.
It may not be as abd as it sounds. For now i only hope that they rework Shiro healing cus its really terrible. Gonna bumb my thread about it and zzz time.
If history has taught us anything, Anet does not know how to balance anything ‘slightly’. They will either tweak something so it makes no difference, or they will sledge hammer it into oblivion, rendering the skill completely unusable.
Reading between the lines, the Thief will be the new WvW/Spvp FoTSeason class. Increasing their damage and not touching the stealth mechanics so squishes get one shot from stealth..Fun times… My only concern is the fact we will have to live with any crap changes for 4-6 months at least.
I dont think the nerf will be more than 10% tbh. They also have to keep in mind that sword is the only dps weapon we have. We also dont have any condi removal nor reliable healing outside shield 5 whatsoever so evades and damage output is our only defense. For me it seems like they want to put sword more as burst weapon rather than sustained dps.
We will see in 24h. Im not sure if that aa nerf makes any sense tho.. i dont feel lke my aa on sword rev is all that much higher than gs/sword guard aa for example. Someone willing to make some calculations? ;o

I am affraid you are complete ignorant at best. Currently there are three professions not played at all in tournaments: warriors,thieves and guardians.
Of course you are maybe talking about low level pvp..but here dominating is possible with everything.
Maybe it is time for you to go out of your cave and see real world.Sorry, which tournaments? Official ESL and so on? Who cares about it?
I enjoy dh on enemy team.. dat freekills. Dh is only a problem in low level pvp.
