@OP
I had similar problem.
Try uninstalling your current gpu drivers + clean up properly! (google)
Download 1.5 year old drivers, install and try again.

Its 15 minutes of work + testing. Worth trying. Might be a driver bug with your setup running gw2. Not game’s fault tho.

Also, 3 days are alright.
We all know it’s not your fault, but dont be selfish. Think about it.

Ok thanks for the tips.

THREE DAYS IS NOT ALRIGHT. Anet should seriously consider making this punishment scale up, start with 1 hour and gradually increase. This would give people a chance to take it easy and slowly troubleshoot before they are slapped with a RIDICULOUSLY OVER THE TOP punishment.

The three day punishment only happens if you leave a PvP match 3 times in one day. The way it works is it applies one 24h stack on you, and once you reach the 3rd stack it is visible.

This also applies to only RATED PvP matches, you can still do hotjoins without issue.

In addition to that, dishonored is only applied if the match ends without you. You can get dced in mid match and come back in without dishonored. IF you are getting dishonored stacks, that means you are leaving games for greater than 4-5 min which can cause a winning team to lose because of you.

So basically after reading all the posts the general consensus is people hate the Marjory and kasmeer couple because you believe they are pushing a homosexual agenda.

Now let’s take the gay element out of this, what is Marjory was a man. Do you think people would complain on the forums about this couple?

I think not.

I think people do not like Marjory and Kasmeer simply because they are lesbians; I do not see ArenaNet pushing out a homosexual agenda.

They seem fairly normal to me, so why is everyone so upset about them?

Chase.8415

Most people use Edge of the Mists for quick runs to 80, but you’ll probably have to buy the traits you’re interested in.

Crafting each path does give 10 levels, but that’s cash intensive. I’ve seen guides for 1-400 crafting though.
Basically, it’s 1% of a level per crafting level from 1-100, 2% per level from 100-200, etc. So two crafts from 1-400 gives you 20 levels total.

That is not correct. You have to craft to 500 to gain 10 levels, and only a few professions offer that at this moment.

If you where crazy enough to spend about 800 gold (yes it really does cost THAT much) to level every single possible professions to 500 for 10 levels then you are insane.

1-400 grants 7 levels, so the best you could get with crafting is level 56, unless you decide to pay that ridiculous amount of gold.

As far as I know, the living story part involved very little to none jumping puzzles. It included jumping mechanics, which I managed to go through just fine with a cheap laptop running at 20 fps on the lowest settings.

If you want to complete all of the content, then there are some jumping puzzles but that to me is considered optional because it is not required to experience the entire story.

No one said “jumping puzzles”, we said “jumping”. And just because jumping is easy for you (obviously if you can do it on your machine) doesn’t mean it is easy for everyone else. Just saying its easy doesn’t make it easy anymore than telling someone who is bad at math that its easy.

Some people are just good or bad at things – I’m not sure why people don’t understand that. And no one likes being forced to do things they are bad at. Especially in games which are supposed to be fun.

I actually have an extremely hard time navigating vertical maps. I have a disability called topographical disorientation, which means I am incapable of memorizing maps or realizing where I am at. I get lost a LOT.

And I was able to manage through the living story just fine, because it was very obvious what I was supposed to do.

It’s unatteinable right now, how is that intended?

This has been brought up several times, and has also been replied by ArenaNet developers a few times as well. This subject comes up like every single week.

You’re not going to get another ArenaNEt response because of that.

The change was intended, and it might be possible in the future to include it in a reward track.

It is so bad to the point where I cannot even drive in real life because I have panic attacks for making the wrong turn.

I’ve learned to accept my disability and move on, complaining about it is going to accomplish absolutely nothing.

Chase, I work in QA for another company. Bugs don’t take that long to fix, even in extremely large projects such as physics simulation engines.

And then again, you’d expect the skilled programmers at ANet to use the principles of encapsulation. Even then, if you knew what you were talking about, you’d notice how those spells are class-specific and they surely don’t tie to other objects

And how can other games work faster on fixing bugs? Please do tell

Encapsulation protects objects from being called from other objects unintentionally. I.E you can have two objects calling the same variable health, but you do not want the code or human error to modify the wrong object without specifically inheriting it first.

A lot of issues can be caused by fixing one class, especially if it is inherited.

Why don’t you log in and find out for yourself? They kept it spoiler free for a reason.

It is a new, small zone. Yes, I did expect that. There are some events and some writing. That’s it. I think it’s not much, I believe much more could have been done, especially changes to how abilities work or readjustments. What I’ve seen were just minor bugfixes for which we should’ve waited two weeks tops, not 6 months.

Why does everyone get the impression that fixing bugs only take a a few days or perhaps a week?

Some bugs you literally have to fix a parent object, which in turn breaks all of it’s dependents and before you know it you have to rewrite like 5 or 6 different sections of code.

Then after all that trouble, you have to deal with QA testing and the budgeting. There are tons of bugs that are minor and can be fixed but production will not allow the company to fix it because it costs money to pay someone to fix those bugs.

One does not simply fix bugs.

It was so bad to the point where people were begging for them to add armor into the gem store instead.

Now for only 109 gold you can buy an entire new set of armor from the gem store.

Who deserves to be rich?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chase.8415

Chase.8415

People who invest a lot of time and effort are the ones who deserve to be rich and rewarded. Naturally there should be a stratification where the top 1% is the richest because not everyone puts in as much effort as those few who are truly dedicated and have the time and skill.

By the way here is a semi-related analogy that I think brings a proper perspective on this topic. In the US there’s been a huge fuss in recent years over how much taxes rich people should pay. Politicians have been getting average citizens stirred up thinking rich people aren’t “paying their fair share.” They talk about “the distribution of wealth” as if it’s a thing to be evenly allocated like rations.

The truth is that if the US were like a row boat with 10 people in it, 1 person would be busting their kitten rowing, and the other 9 would be sitting around complaining that the 1 person rowing isn’t rowing enough. The lion’s-share of taxes in the US are paid by the top 10%. The top 1% pay something like 30% of the taxes, and the bottom 50% pay nothing.

Now there’s all kinds of discussion to be had about the US economy and that analogy, but the thing to take away here is that the few people who do have wealth are also the ones busting their kittens. If you look at real success stories, people who make it in life had to get up off their bum and work really hard to earn it. My rich friends in GW2 have over 20k AP and don’t spend time faffing about on forums, or complaining that the can only play X hours per day. In fact my richest friend works 40 hours a week, has 5 legendaries, and still finds time to play his guitar (he’s really good).

I guess what I’m trying to say is people shouldn’t feel entitled to gold and wealth in GW2. They should play the kitten game and earn it. Now if you get a random precursor, good for you. But those things should just be seen as a once-in-a-lifetime bonus, not an entitlement.

You should fix that to play the game and earn it, unless you PvP

Also rich people can buy their legendary without effort at all, it only costs like $400 per legendary with gems.

Should also note:

Gem store profits, NCsoft takes most of it and use it, with other profits from ingame stores and game sales, to publish games with developer of their choice…

One reason why ANet have released living story and “micro updates”(?), since they had not enough money to spend on bigger content.

I think there’s some news that NCsoft would start working with ANet on expansion for GW2.
I dunno when, and I dunno where the news was, so not so sure…

ArenaNet has already stated that there is no expansion currently in development and will remain that way until Season 2 is finished. So even if they did decide on an expansion, you’re looking at atleast another 2 years from now.

Staff air isn’t bad, it’s just rather lackluster compared to the other weapon’s air skills, and the other staff attunements. The main reason to use it are Windborne Speed and Static Field, neither of which requires you to switch to air much.

As for the traits, they do look ok for dungeons. Fresh Air’s about the only one that doesn’t really seem to fit, so you may want to pick something else for that.

Also, I like how your build can switch to water during your meteor shower casts to really up the damage. :-)

Adding 20 points to fire would increase your damage by roughly 21%, so having the water attunement just for extra damage is not necessary.

Who deserves to be rich?

In my case, i do not think I deserve to be rich but I do deserve to be rewarded. I have been PvPing since launch, have rank 80 and consistently score in top 500 players. But once I leave the heart of the mists, there is no recognition at all of my achievements. I don’t have a trimmed cape like in the original game or a special guild emote.

The only thing I have is a rank 80 emote, which unfortunately does not show skill at all only grind.

It’s all just a timing thing. Watch his buffs for stability and don’t waste knockdowns.

It’s hard to give tips as I find it’s all alot of practice in 1v1 with any class and is nearly always dependent on the skill of the other player. There’s not a class in spvp 1v1 who you should be facerolling if the other guy is equally skilled.

I can’t tell if you are serious or not. D/D wins by kiting enemies around and self healing.

One of the main damage points of a D/D ele is burning, which is completely outhealed with healing signet.

Unless the warrior is playing really bad, an ele should never win against a warrior as D/D their build completely counters the strategy of it.
