Armor sets for all possible stat combos?

Chase.8415

I mean, where’s the depth customization if I can’t wear a set of gear that has precisely the stat combo I want?

What if I want Precision/Ferocity/Healing Power gear? Sorry, that’s not available…..why not?

In Alpha gear didn’t have stats and your stats were based off your attributes, but that project was scrapped as they thought it made the game too confusing.

If you want that combination, you’re going to have to use Celestial.

I don’t think this is really needed as you can get titles which are exclusive to PvP (i.E Legendary Champion means they are rank 80)

In addition sometime this year there will be another feature pack that will feature a league system and I imagine there will be special emotes or gear depending on what tier you are in.

In Guild Wars you got a bronze/silver or gold trimmed cape with a special emote.

With that sort of thinking there’s no need for dungeon armor either because you get a title for having done them all. Just because something similar already exists doesn’t mean something better shouldn’t be added. Why make GW1 or GW2 when there’s already WoW and countless other MMORPGs? I could run with this but the point is that getting a title is not as fun as getting a new look. Seeing a piece of armor that you think looks awesome, working towards it and then buying and displaying it is way more fun and progressive feeling.

Those are terrible comparisons because with WoW they simply just make one set of armor every few months for each type of armor and the “elite” tier is simply a recolor with the exact same model.

Chase.8415

if they did sell Tomes on the Gems I would see them selling them 4 or 5 per 200 gems, which would be at or under $50. and even if they do start selling tomes, its not like you cant level without them, it doesn’t give you an advantage, its still in line about what they stated about Gem store items. I think the phrase was:

Time spent=Money spent (or something like that, don’t remember)

and again, its no different than Crafting to 80, which I don’t hear anyone complaining about that, on the forums or in the Game.

Actually now that you mentioned that, crafting used to give a lot more experience and people complained that you could buy your way to max level with it. ArenaNet responded by nerfing crafting. Now you can’t get to level 80 with just crafting, you have to start from like level 56.

In addition, ascended armor being added to the game drove the price of lower level materials and now its not so effective to level by crafting as getting tomes is easier to do so.

IS there a place that has meta builds?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chase.8415

In Guild Wars 1, there was a place where you could submit builds and it would be rated by the community in regards to if it was effective or not. It made it easy to play multiple classes without having to spend time to research what would be the best build.

But I have yet to find such a place for Guild Wars 2, the forums tend to post builds that actually aren’t effective but the user things they are (perhaps due to personal playstyle) or heavily outdated builds that are no longer relevant.

Does such a place exist for Guild Wars 2?

The tomes should be available for gems anyway. 200 gems per Tome would be reasonable and they’d make a killing from it.

$200 for a level 80?

That’s ridiculous, considering it takes half the amount of time to reach level 80 in this game than it does in WoW and they charge $60 for max level.

The average graphic card right now is the Intel HD 4000/5000. This is because they are included with the processor so its cheaper for laptop manufacturers to use it. They are also powerful enough to run modern games on medium settings, including Guild Wars 2.

Too bad the GPU isn’t the part causing issues here.

I’m personally against the idea. It’d be a poor way to expend resources, and the game itself doesn’t exactly lend to being played with a controller, assuming it would even run on the new consoles.

Well considering these gpus are integrated into the processor, if you have an intel HD 4000/5000 then you are capable enough to run GW2. The weaker end CPU’s use 3000.

Most of these games are developed to run on the average computer, it’s not about the best graphics it’s about making money.

PS4 and XBOX are x86, the same processing used in home computers. It would be easy to port it into the console, the only issues is the updating restrictions set by Sony and Microsoft, they would also have to pay extra money to them to grant the ability to use the service online without PS+ and Live.

Guild Wars is a game that requires a mouse and a keyboard to be played properly.
It wouldn’t work on console.

Diablo is a hack and slash click to move based game, the entire game was designed to be played with mostly just your mouse… and they released that on the consoles and some people argue it is superior to the PC versions.

Guild Wars coming to console would be easy to implement, there’s only 10 skills. The difficult part would be redesigning the interface to work with controllers.

Wrong. The new consoles may be x86 but they are considerably less powerful than your average PC. The game currently uses only 2-3 significant threads which means additional cores aren’t helpful but fast cores are. Due to the slow clock speed of the cores in the next-gen consoles their per core performance is painfully low, 25% slower than the cores in the old Core 2 Q6600. A “simple” port wouldn’t work since CPU core performance is everything once you get into mobs of other players.

Could it be possible if they started with a cross platform game engine from one of the big game engine companies? Maybe. UE has been used in some MMOs already. Same with the CryEngine. But it’s something you don’t decide to do later, you have to go in with cross platform development on day 1 otherwise it’s like adding more floors to a bottom of a skyscraper.

Where are you pulling “less powerful” than current PC’s right now?

Also Final Fantasy ARR runs at full speed on max settings on the Playstation 4. Integrated graphics could not handle that.

Diablo III was designed to work for consoles since the very beginning. They had it planned from the start.

And so was Guild Wars 2, you can actually find controller buttons in the interface hidden in the data files since the beta. Diablo 3 is obviously a game designed for a mouse, they ported it perfectly for the console.

You buying them with gold does not change the fact that someone else already paid for them.

So? He did not spend money on them that is what he was saying. What you are talking about has NO bearing on him.

He was basically stating that they were treating him like a paying customer.

He is a paying customer, because regardless of how he got those gems, ArenaNet made money. Just because he bought them with gold, should not make anyone feel like they are not a paying customer.

I suspect it means LS missions and some cinematics will be repeatable. Expecting to be able to relive Kessex tower runs or Bazaar is probably a bit much.

Well, this doesn’t make much sense though. The whole purpose of the preview was the entire Living story Season 2 would be permanent.

“Open world content additions to Living World updates will permanently expand or change the world of Tyria and will tie to the theme and story of the episode. This means you can play the open world content and the story content (if you’ve unlocked that episode) anytime you want, on every character you ever make on your account! You’re no longer limited to completing the episode during its two-week release window. This means that going forward, all of the content and all of the rewards for Living World will be permanent.”

So in the preview on the website, it says we can replay a living story event by simply logging in once while the event was running to permanently unlock it, but eventually the game will be ahead several living story events and what happens with the group content?

How can someone replay the festival of the four winds, if only 5-6 people are replaying the event?

Does that mean Living Story is going to be less focused on group content?

Good luck farming 350 tokens when you have to run that event about 6 times to get one tome.

Why does ArenaNet hate farming?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chase.8415

Chase.8415

For the millionth time, buying gems with gold still generates revune for ArenaNet, as all gems bought with gold were originally sold from player who bought gems with cash.

Encouraging people to buy gold with gems actually decreases the price and allows you to buy gem store items for cheaper.

Also the reason why they nerfed the farm events is because people complained that people were using living story to farm and inflation is occurring in the game at an extremely fast pace.

Stop with your conspiracy theories, I don’t care if you study economics as a college student. The fact the matter is there’s an actual economic expert that works for this game, he is well aware of what happens when you nerf things.

all the loot nerfs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chase.8415

Chase.8415

I find it hilarious that care bears are complaining about having to grind for gold now when all they did before was grind. How about just playing the game. After spending gold on consumables and siege I don’t make that much per hour but I’m fine with that because I enjoy what I’m doing. I have no sympathy for all of the cry babies that claim that the game is ruined when that type of player has been ruining this game for me from the start.

well I already put the response to “just play the game” statement into my original post – we are stuck with the same game content for two years now. You can only do something so many times until it becomes not entertaining. Unless of course there’s something else behind it that would drive you to repeat the content. Like for example loot.
So no loot = at least give us new permanent content
and
no new content = at least gives us loot to chase after our goals.

And really everything wouldn’t even be as suspicious for me if not the “did you know that you can buy gold from us?” add on their website.

So you have a problem buying gems? Why? If you want new content maybe you should support the company. Too many of the farmers and grinders just turn their gold into gems which I’m pretty sure doesn’t contribute to any sort of development money.

Perhaps people would be more inclined to support Anet if Anet produced something worthy of supporting. We already bought GW2, so we supported them on that front. Now if they want us to buy a bunch of gems with real cash, produce content worthy of it. It’s ridiculous that I can spend ~$50.00 in gems for BL keys and not even get a ticket, or spend ~$40.00 to get 3 infinite gathering kits and a salvage kit.

If you buy a bunch of gems now, you’re only supporting the micro-transaction market. Anet knows this. That’s why the price of armor pieces is so spontaneous. One day you can get a set of armor for 800 gems, another day a crappy scar/face paint will cost you 500 gems, and now Anet is selling individual armor pieces for ~300 gems each which will total a set to 1800 gems instead of 800. I see no reason to support a company that is only looking to milk us at every chance they get.

They sell the entire set as well as individual pieces. People were complaining how they only wanted one piece out of the set and feel ripped off for paying full price.

Care to give us more conspiracy theories that are also incorrect as well?

all the loot nerfs

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chase.8415

Chase.8415

The exchange rate is based off the players, so its expensive because people aren’t buying gems and selling them for gold.

This also means, if someone buys their gems from gold ArenaNet is still making money, because those gems you bought with gold were originally sold from a player who bought gems with cash.

NEWSFLASH: If people buy gems and sell them, the exchange rate gets cheaper. At the same time, because of the 30% tax, inflation is reduced.

In regards to loot nerfs, they are more of a balancing. Up until the nerfs, there was no point of running a fractal. It was far better to run dungeons or a champ train. Now that those have been nerfed, the economy is much more equalized.

They have an economic expert working on this game, and it is clear he is doing a good job as now I feel like I’m rewarded pretty much the same in all game modes.

Tribal armor set

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Well, if it wasn’t for the fact that PvP players were royally ripped off the feature patch (like how everyone can bring their legendary to PvP) I would be totally for equalization of added this set to PvE.

But seeing how virtually everything was removed for early PvPers including ranks and titles the only way to show that you where somewhat of a high rank before the patch is to have this set of armor.

There are also several armor skins exclusive to PvE, if you want tribal armor then you’d have to be more fair and make it possible for PvP players to obtain PvE armors without spending gold.

Let’s assume anyone absent from a match for ‘x’ minutes is considered a disconnect and given dishonor regardless of whether they return. What happens to the 9 other people? Are they forced to play out the rest of the match? Should their ratings be adjust still? What about rewards?

In this case, assuming the team with 5 wins:

1: The game continues to the end
2: The team with 5 gets full winner rewards and a win for the game
3: The team with 4 gets the loser rewards, but their W-L record and MMR are not impacted
4: The person who left gets no rewards and they get a L and their MMR is impacted

That would not work out because the person who won the game would increase in MMR which would cause inflation issues.

Also, people would be confused with this, they wouldn’t actually realize it is not counting as a loss if they are awarded with loss rewards anyway. It would only be apparent if they made the loss give the team full rewards.
