Played warrior for a couple of months and thief before that.
I recently got back to my ele which i made on my very first day of playing
at headstart. I thought PvP was a bit unbalanced; some classes had a definitive edge but nothing major.
Well, after coming to the realization that I have to play my keyboard as if I wanted to play ‘Circus Galop’ to be as effective as other classes can be with 1/4 of button presses. I wanted to express my respect for every elementalist who decided
to stick to his profession despite being overshadowed by every other profession in the game, having no team fight support other classes can’t do better and laughable survivability/sustain, with staff being a freekill1v1 and rallybait in teamfights.
Less options to disengage than other roamers and being forced at least 20 points in a particular traitline for almost every build that wants to be remotely useful.

I just tried a bit in spvp and well. Which build are you using mbelch?
I’m running 0/30/0/10/30 currently but the fresh air combo seems to do
laughable damage and i don’t know why, since i saw eles in tourneys bring
bunker guards down to ~35% with one combo. Aside from that I had severe problems against even bad hammermonkey since signet of air and mistform have such a high cd.
I don’t know if i should take a third stunbreak but the arcane wave comes in very handy in case i didn’t land a crit. Gear is valk/zerk jewel and 6/6 divinity.

0/30/020/20 with VI X in water and II VIII in arcana?
Or go triple arcane with I VIII XI in arcana?
btw i’m using focus oh instead of dagger.
the skills are so good for control and exel dagger which is lacking severely in defense imho; mistake?

Hi there. As the thread title suggests i haven’t played my elementalist for over a year
and would like a brief summary for spvp.
First off, is fresh air still 0/30/0/10/30 after the patch?
Does it stand a chance against necro and engineer?
Are there other common elementalist builds used for pvp?
What are their strenghts and weaknesses?

Instead of saying they are trolling and it is not viable, I just prefer to use the term “Sub-optimal” to show them in a minor way that it is out of place

if they have the same chance to be slavaged as the other ranks than you might get 1 (2 if you’re lucky) out of it.

The damage and crit chance bonuses take effect prior to the hit, so you get the big Eviscerate.

Both give +% damage per adrenaline bar.
Do both also give extra damage to burst skills or is the adrenaline substracted before the damage calculation?

Since thief is going to be the worst class in pvp now, I wonder how many thieves will reroll to the “noob slayer” warrior with the combo bull’s charge/bolas + fenzy + 100b.
I have seen several high ranking warrior rank 40+ using this “noob slayer” combo against another high ranking player and it actually works.
So, will this “noob slayer” build be popular and viable in pvp again ?
Br-Hb is so 2012. If you can’t dodge that, then l2p, seriously. Also rank doesn’t mean anything; I played against r50+ players I have never seen before after the leaderboard reset and i quickly realised why.
After seeing all the complain threads i was wondering. Aside from the JPs for easy AP I rarely set foot into WvW and all the threads only tell what should be the rewards.

Yes, the gold and glory requirements for arah, inquest and koda is the lowest because those sets are included in the tournament chests which means they are the easiest to aquire, so many people already have them.
If you have the shaking trophy tourney win thing over your mini map, you can open those now for the extra glory rewards.
If you have chests (including chests from the shaking trophies you just opened) save them until the patch on Tuesday. At that point, any PvP gear you salvage has a chance to give you luck.
They made that pretty clear. The question was whether to open them now or if there is a chance of them containing valuable materials in addition to their current loottable in the future because i don’t want to open my stack only to see that they contain shards of legends in a month or two.
If you paid enough attention to get that, then you should have also heard them say you might as well open them on Tuesday or keep them forever.

He didn’t say Anet is making people collect minis. He is suggesting that it’s not a good idea to make a certain collectible only accessible through spending money on gems (a considerable amount if i might add) or getting lucky and receiving one at gamescom/buying on ebay.

Well, there were threads where people asked to buy armor pieces separately and said they were willing to pay more for the individual pieces. I guess ANet reads the forums also.
Except the helmet isn’t part of a set and people were suggestion selling single pieces of a set for ~200-30 instead of 800 for the whole thing, not 500.
ANet doesn’t have to follow the ideas exactly. If people say they are willing to buy individual pieces and pay extra for it, ANet can then take the idea and do what they like with it. They can change it to selling individual pieces that are not part of a set and charge whatever they think the market will bear. They don’t have to use the prices that the threads suggest.
You are completely missing the point. People were suggestion the option to buy single pieces, no matter the price. These skins are individual only without a corresponding set.

You can’t eliminate Glory because it’s part of the PvP currency or it’ll become p2win skins. which doesn’t suit pvp at all.
The vendors will be selling things for glory + gold, you can’t buy anything with just gold. Once the new reward system is and place, and glory is retired, those vendors will be removed and the new reward system will be the way to get things.
You mean aside from the fact that the pve crowd already has all the prestigious armor and weapon skins from farming dungeons and spending gold on the tp?
Guardian (mace+shield) or Warrior (banner/shouts).
Ahahaha. No. Guardian is vastly superior in every respect. Warrior doesn’t have shouts and banner but only one of them.
Banner: decent regen but extremely easy to burst down
Shouts: tad better burstheal but low health and weak against conditions + you take shouts which are utterly useless in tpvp so you basically sacrifice your entire utility bar for some ~3k heals.
Your burst skills will be useless in groupfights for both variants as you will want to use mace/shield and sword/warhorn (traited) to deal with the obscene amount of conditions being thrown in your general direction. Spoiler: you will still die.
Seeing as you will take soldiers amulett and sword is a conditions weapon and mace is purely control (single target so don’t even consider tanking more than one person) you will deal literally zero damage to some builds. By that i mean you will never kill them. Ever. It’s just a matter of how quickly they can wear you down so 1v1 is almost always a loss unless you play against someone very bad in which case you might be able to outheal his damage.
If you want to bunker, take sc/f st guardian and tank 2+ people mid while supporting your group. Unless you play on an extremely low MMR don’t consider warrior as bunker.
I played some myself in the 1-150 range of the leaderboards while being matched regularly against top 50 players and you will die, simple as that.

Instead of high quality expansions once a year to fund the game they have decided on low quality rapid fire content to get people into the gem store. So until people stop buying it this is what we are stuck with.
And how would you suggest one expansion per year would pay the salaries of 300+ employees and other costs involved in running an MMO?

Don’t worry. For grinding out Wintersday achievements you will get a backskin that you will never use because it’s a ‘one time only’. No real money required
The short of it is that in-game rewards do not get people to buy gems. ANet needs money to build content, that money comes largely from the gem store.
Except the money they make goes into the development of other games.

They work together but it doesn’t increase to 99% – they have their induvidual trigger chance. Besides the sigil is bugged and has a 5sec icd.
-Should we hold on to our chests or can we open them without the danger
of them having shards added a few months down the line?
-What is done about prestigious pvp armor? The way I see it is that anybody can have every armor in pvp regardless of their personal skill or time invested in spvp.
To each his own but I personally don’t like that.

Glory doesn’t convert to gold. All glory farmers get is a title.
and exclusive finishers that they have farmed in weeks when they normally would have taken months if you played legitimatly

Edit: Restorative strength, along with many other traits, is just odd, and oddly placed in the trait trees.
Wanna see you use stability when you don’t see an enemy around just for the slight chance someone jumps on you with a launch powerful enough to send you off the platform through a trait that literally nobody is using in spvp.
Plus that thing goes through blocks. I’ve taken out enough top 50 players with that neat little trick and it works almost all of the time.
OT: i used restorative strenght when warriors didn’t have cleansing ire, in conjunction with mending. worked pretty well in wvw but the heal was not much and since cleansing ire is kind of mandatory the trait seems a bit redundant, especially with
our only viable heal being passive.

I’m also thinking of buying an armor skin set but I’m not too sure how a skin works. Does it overwrite all my current equipped armor or am I able to select which armor piece I want to apply it on?

You get a box that contains all 6 single skins and you can then
apply them individually.
Considering it took hundred of reports, two full blown forum threads with videos and screenshots of one guy making a joke of not participating in tpvp to get any action done, I wouldn’t hedge my bets on getting results this time either.

yes, stealth is unbalanced in this game. yes blindspam is hardcountering certain professions and it’s broken but you better deal with it because anet won’t change that.

invulnerability, blocks, blinds, protection and strong active heal, all in addition to their
passive.
Anet devs stated that they wanted warriors sustain to be regen based and that they are content with how it is now (please don’t ask for source, that was about 4 weeks ago and i have no idea where i read that). Warriors only have their passive (which is also their healing skill -making it unusable if you want to maintain the passive) and long cd utilities.
Guess which is better but you are right, it was meant in general- not bunker specific. I also said that I think warrior that don’t trait for survival shouldn’t be allowed such a strong heal but it should be better for warriors that do.

more burst heal, more blocks, invuln., blind and group support and group heal. The only thing a warrior has going for him is the battle standart with 192 sec cooldown when traited iirc but that thing is utterly useless if you plan on solobunking a node like most guards do.Honestly, Guardian is not the best option for solo bunkering a point.
I’m not saying Warrior is better (even if I think so :P), but other classes like ranger or engineer are far superior.
Where Guardian excels is at teamfight bunkering, staying on point so it’s not capped/decapped while supporting the team.
Of course there are better options than guardian but this thread was
comparign war/guard. Basically warrior is the weakest of all bunker options
and nerfing HS will make him even weaker.
I’ve beed playing bunker warrior with bannerheal and sw/wh -mc/sh
in the 50-150 bracket solo queue the past couple of weeks for exactly 224 games and all i can say is that a bunker warrior is vastly inferior to a guardian.
Now i think we all agree that there isn’t that much to playing a warrior
and i’m pretty sure i’m playing my specc quite optimally after so many matches.

One slot is always taken up by a banner so for the remaining you are in the stupid position where you have to choose between stability (signet 60sec/blanced stance 40sec) direct damage mitigation (endure pain) or cond. immunity (zerk stance). Considering the amount of stupid condition bombing cough spamgineers cough and control effects from (oh wonder) engineer, hambows and necros you get shredded if you take anything else than zerk stance and at least one option for stability.
The specc is highly susceptible to burst roamers and and just flat out fails against more than one enemy spamming conditions while (good) guards can almost always take on two enemies while providing significant support for their team when they arrive.
I agree that HS is too strong on warriors not specced for it but if it gets any weaker, the attempt to create a defensive warrior with a support role completely becomes unviable, or rather: even more unviable.
