Well this seems like a perfect opportunity for someone to get out the spreadsheet and do some math.
I recently heard that high armor values (and possibly other defensive scores) aggro mobs. Is this true? If so, isn’t it yet another benefit of Zerker gear?
Not a benefit if everyone is wearing zerker.
Also, wouldn’t you be able to give people a reason to wear something other than Zerker gear if the opposite were true — mobs aggro by characters with weak armor / defenses? It makes sense that they would attack the squishiest characters first.
Well they could attack the person that is most squishy but the problem there of course is that it then completely removes any future hope of their being a tank (soft or not). This is of course a contentious topic (to trinity or not, or even to soft trinity or not), but still the change you’re suggesting would pretty much remove all value from gear with defense.
EDIT:
Whatever you heard was codswallop.
Aggro is a very difficult mechanic to explain in regard to GW2, but I don’t think there is any stat that contributes to how it works. It would appear that aggro usually goes to the first person to engage the mob, at least from the things I have experienced, but even then it is not always definite. It is too flexible a mechanic in GW2, so I really can’t suggest anything further.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro
First person would get aggro, but it seems more to be impacted by damage and proximity.

See kids, this is why you don’t peek at your presents before Christmas. Data mining has it’s perks and fall outs.
Yeah… I’m still waiting for the paper-bag skins https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Paper-Bag_Helm_4-Pack

That’s a pretty bad excuse. Why would you develop content that breaks other content?
Clearly not a software developer :P
We don’t necessarily need in-game profession quests, but at the least the game needs to demonstrate professions in-game and ideally put some emphasis on those professions. For example, Braham is a Guardian, Kasmeer a Mesmer and Majory a Necro, but nowhere are they ever used to explore these profession. I’d love to know when Majory decided that resurrecting rotting corpses was a good fit for her.
Although maybe this is simply because professions are treated as being rather plain. Somehow an elementalist that can summon fire from the sky is no more noteworthy than random peasant #5 working in the fields. In other fantasy universes wizards or generally the magically inclined tend to be somewhat noteworthy, at the very least there are numerous version of Hogwarts that exists to train and guide what can only be considered great power.
Tyria does have the Orders, by they seems more like very separate entities with little interaction with the day to day lives of the citizens. I don’t see the Order of Whispers training kids to cut purses in the streets, and I don’t see the Priory helping to train young gifted magic users.
Of cause a special slot would be best.
But the developers will probably think that a special slot for only two items is not worth the effort.
Or do I miss items that also could be used in this slot?Perhaps they could modify the halo that it could be used in the pet slot.
My halo is my pet, jay. ^^
Well there’s plenty of effects that you could throw in there

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Evon_Gnashblade_Representation_Button_
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infinite_Watchknight_Tonic
But yeah it’s not a particularly extensive list
I don’t think they’ll be able to make an item change appearance based on an elementalist’s attunement (also, what would they do on other professions?). Instead it would be four skins, one per element.
Might just be a single glider with different particle effects based on your attunement.
I personally prefer that the enemies I face actually look “real” not unrealistically enlarged just for the sake of it.
You can of course solve this “issue” by simply making your character smaller.
Well I guess it’s a matter of immersion vs mechanical engagement. Sure a huge NPC would be unrealistic, but it would allow you to see their animations and know when you dodge, or when a heavy hitting attack is in-coming.
It would make the game look daft.
Can you imagine an oversized asura?
There’s actually a dynamic event with exactly that in it :P
I just wish there was a way to turn off player FX.
This would help a lot.
This is something that bugged me all the time. Bosses should be big, impressive and overwhelming. Instead we have a lot of generic ‘Legendary Krait Witch’. There is no name, no impressive special loot, nothing… a huge miss. People want and love that.
Because events can be repeated I assume that they tried to stay away from specifically naming NPCs.
How about a way to see who the boss is actually targeting and a better effect or animation to show when a boss starts an attack animation.
There’s nothing wrong with the animations though, it’s usually just hidden below all the particle effects / stacking / or hard to see on small characters when you’re zoomed out.
So far they’ve been every other Tuesday except for the times they weren’t every other Tuesday but either skipped a Tuesday or didn’t skip a Tuesday but was the following Tuesday in which case the Tuesday following the Tuesday that was or was not skipped then became the new every other Tuesday.
I hope that clears it up.
Yes, in essence it randomly happens on Tuesdays.
Additionally an update to the gemstore doesn’t necessarily require a download.
Depends if the assets are in the game client or not. In the case of the butterfly wings (since you can link it in-game) yeah a download wouldn’t be necessary.

See, balance to me isnt as valueable as content
Different people, different engagements. I’d prefer more narrative content than say another hamster wheel to climb on. While other primarily wvw or pvp and thus mechanics are important. But to each their own.
Or have a slot on your Hero panel, like we have for back items.
Rather something like this. The ability to toggle on or off effects like these. Having it as a skin… well it would thus replace my current skin and I’d rather have both.
Its like you never played a game before lol, at least MMORPG/Mobas get updates while the other games stay dead after release , there are 5 more expansions for GW2 coming which will take at least 12 more years of your life, if you want a break play League of Legends or something on Steam while waiting
Pretty much this. You don’t have to play GW2, with no sub-fee you can leave and come back whenever you like. Maybe when HoT drops you’ll have something new to do.

If I thought the devs could develop content at the same time as making an expansion, like every other mmo in existence, then I would say SURE!
Oh I hope they manage to do it for S3 though, this content drought… although I must say that’s perhaps a bit hyperbolic, many MMOs have droughts before expansions hit.
With regards to SAB, I’m pretty sure they said they couldn’t do it because of changes to the game engine.
From Colin’s himself on PoI.
He’s not returning, though. He’s just getting channeled through Revenants. I guess maybe a combat skill will be to jade-lock the opponent for a second or two?
Yeah we shouldn’t blow this out of proportion, at most we’re getting a few skills and a few lines of dialog. I don’t even think it will factor into the plot of HoT.
Lucky drop in TA, fwd I believe. Frostfang.
I have a gaming computer. I run Teq on ultra settings without lag…
Until tonight. At each burn phase, my game was halted to an absolute standstill. This has never happened in my entire time playing GW2 and it was only during the burn phases. I crashed at the last burn.
So I have to ask, what the kitten did Anet do to the game? One day, no lag, next freezing screens and crashes?
get lag, instantly blame Anet, what logic
And then post, not in the bug forum, but in the general discussion forum.
EDIT: or technical support.
Honestly glint’s lair was well developed as far as I’m concerned in terms of introducing mechanics. You cannot get to a boss if you didn’t figure out how the fragile condition works, and then in the fight you use it. You cannot get to the boss if you didn’t figure out how the colour system works etc.
If you haven’t learned that deleting stuff in gw2 usually ends up in regret yet then by all means delete.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Toy_Soldier_Frame
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Captain%27s_Council_CommendationAll of those are pretty much useless now. Same with the code fragments from the Marionette event (unless you have 25+ to make cyphers) and I’m sure quite a few other items. Sometimes uses for items really do go away forever.
But on the other hand, remember all those skins that people deleted before the wardrobe?
I’d vote for a Batman cloak. If you are not gliding, it’s a regular black cape (yeah I know, it won’t happen) and once you are in the air, it changes to bat wings.
Copyright issues I’m sure.
Could probably work for the feathered-wing backpieces though.
I think I will leave this clip of Shiro in action. The Guild Wars Factions opening cinematic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtP5AkrCNUIAwesome clip! Thanks for sharing that.
Why doesn’t ANet make more trailer like those?!
Also why aren’t there more people with purple hair?
Stop setting precedents and then not follow through XD
As excited as I am about the new legend reveal for revenant, no idea why they won’t just finish elite spec reveals for current classes. Hopefully now that Rev is complete (only elite spec left) they will continue with the others…
Yeah… they’re really stretching this one out. Next week is probably Glint. Then maybe after another 9 week break we might get a specialisation… yeah I’m being a bit pessimistic… probably won’t me more than a 2-3 week break.
I think it scales with height, some armors however scale with body type.
What I’m unhappy about is that Asura don’t have comically over-sized weapons… I guess until ANet creates a ‘weapon length’ slider we’ll just have to accept that different weapons will look differently.
I’m not really sure they even need new models. A setting within the wardrobe for “Symmetrical Shoulder Armor” could be pretty-easily implemented just to duplicate them. It might be a little weird for some of them like the Carapace/Luminescent ones which have two elements but are asymmetrical (potential clipping issues), but looking at the above screens, I can definitely see the merit in doing something like this.
I’d imagine it would be left symmetry and right symmetry options (since it varies from skin to skin). Although the easiest solution (i.e. no new code or UI changes) would be simply to make more skins (hopefully it would primarily just be copy paste) and add them to the game. Possibly as separate skins or bundled with the originals.
That’s where Verdant Brink is, the map we’ve seen in previous betas.
Like the revenant test going on currently those used the same version of the game and the beta character slot, so I’m guessing the map (or at least the part of it in the beta) was added into the game and just locked away. In the first beta you just appeared in that map, in the second one you had to do a special story step to get there, so I assume it’s not possible to get there on a normal character.
Not until another PvE beta or launch.
There’s already more than enough content that’s playable at lower levels. O_o
Well new content never hurts :P
But yeah pretty much max level content as far as I know.
Garrosh, in one scene I remember seeing and hearing about, literally leapt axe drawn at a human the second the human entered the room.
This one most likely.
Is he sentient? Or is he just an exceptionally complex but ultimately just a mindless machine?
Would you know the difference?
Would it matter?
Something… Something… Turing Test
While waiting for tequatl and trying to get into a decent server I’m obviously using the LFG tool to find parties to then port into the map. But the parties are filling up faster than I can join, however I am able to click the join button (lag obviously, my client isn’t receiving the response from the server about the party being full quickly enough), I don’t land in a party of course (since it’s already full) but it seems to register that I have, leaving me unable to join any other parties since apparently I’ve joined too many.
Ignoring whether the ‘too many parties’ functionality is even necessary (what was the use case for that anyway?) it would appear that the checking is done (I’m assuming) client side, that is to say each time I click on the button it registers that I’ve done so. However there seems to be no feedback from the server, just if I click the button but the server responds with a ‘well this party is already full’ whatever tally system is running on the front end doesn’t seem to be reflect this, choosing rather to see me as having successfully joined a party. Mind you this could also be happening completely server side, but I’d assume there’d be better checking server side for if I’ve joined a party of not.
Still somewhere something is receiving the message that I’m joining a party while I’m in fact not, leading of course to the ‘too many party’ functionality kicking in.
Anyway it’s by no means a new problem, so probably already come up a few times.
I already know some people will get on this post and laugh, maybe even say some mean things like “you’re an idiot” or “you’re so stupid” but…
That wouldn’t be very nice. I’d hoped that the forum community would be a bit more eloquent than that.
so I advertised 15g for achievment help.
15 gold? Honestly I’d help you for free. If you’re on the EU region, you can just invite me when we’re both online again.
Selling dungeons/instances is not supported by Anet.
Have a nice day.
Well he was technically buying :P
Consider that I went to the trouble of making this post rather than continue with this “small” inconvenience. That means it’s more of an inconvenience than simply remaining quiet about it.
You are not representative of the world. You might not even be representative of the human norm (I don’t really know you that well). An argument from anecdote cannot necessarily be generalised because individual experience is after all individual. It’s a component of the ‘theory of mind’ to be able to separate ones experiences from another person experiences. Overall this can lead to an interesting discussion of epistemology, but still that’s a rather large tangent.
Well more in-game armours are always welcome!
BUT in the latest patch notes on bug fixes at the bottom it reads “Removed items from the wardrobe view that are not attainable by players.”
Would be nice if we could toggle this option off and on. Or maybe it would be far too sad for a collector like me…
I know about the mercenary system of Guild Wars 1. You couldn’t get your mercenaries to use certain skills, for example bear form, and they follow you around like ordinary heroes and henchmen. Although I wish there was a way Marjorie and other characters could follow you around permanently (not just as minis), maybe an elite skill perhaps, or maybe the return of hero/henchmen system, but nah that would tax the system more plus it would add characters to the environment, meaning more graphics to process if lots of people use it.
Well there’s always the possibility that future (because present dungeons the lore doesn’t make sense) would give the option us using the biconics as stand-ins for real players (that is to say you only have 2 other players , so the 2 remaining slots gets filled in by Braham and Majory or another combo). Well maybe dungeons proper not so much, but story dungeons seems a prime candidate for testing this idea.
This thread seems extremely familiar…
Oh yes https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/8-weeks/ . In fact Lordkrall even made the same comment XD
First off, I’d be very leery of buying a ‘box’ version from a third party seller since it’s my understanding there is no box set with the expansion.
Not yet anyway.

So what you will show there? Unfinished revenant and scrap of verdant brink
?
Would be nice if we knew if there was anything new on show. You know for hype reasons.
About case where instantly beings become icebrood like contact with crystal that land on your head that instead of dead you rise as icebrood: fear of death, close to it, you start admire/respect power that is gonna kill you, therefore borns desire to gain power, Jormag see weaves in Mists of those who desire for power and grants its to them.
Imo it is always and only case of willing for power, that strong will can born in 0,0001s before death.
Talking, show-offs, challenges, hierarchy, lust, desire, moments of helplessness, being on verge of die are all able to create willing for power even if acquired in different way/length of time.
So if you gonna die while fighting with jormag’s power don’t be tempted by his power and don’ desire it, focus on your true power that lies inside you. <Jora’ way imo, she didn’t want depending on power of anoyne besides her own, which I received when met her>
I’d say a simpler description could be the knowledge of “If I were stronger, I wouldn’t be about to die.”
The question is does the person grasp onto the power being offered by Jormag, or refuse it? We’ve seen ‘forced’ corruptions,The female Koda, the voice of the Honor of the Waves (IIRC, that was her title. The Claw of Koda survives I think). But we basically walk into the last moments before icebrood, so we don’t see what the Son of Svanir/partial icebrood did to her.
Elder Dragons can corrupt in any number of ways. They simply have prefer means. So in theory every ED can corrupt by force, by trickery, or assembly some sort of construct. Some just don’t like to.
Thanks for your replies :/ that that really is not what i wanted to hear :/ Oh my time to get over my entropy skin then :?
Maybe one day ANet will decide to change it. Although if they do it would probably be fairly low on the priorities list.
If people are otherwise carelessly throwing out or destroying items from inventory, it’s their own fault.
You know that’s an argument that won’t actually go over very well when someone accidentally deletes something important right? It’s a small inconvenience and it prevents a lot of future complaining.
Wait, makeover kit hair doesn’t work like regular hair?
There’s no general rule. Some do some don’t. In the make-over window you can shake your characters around, that should simulate movement (not a great solution of course).
Ah, okay, at least there’s a way to see it, I can live with that.
Something like this https://youtu.be/zDtScW6J_g0?t=11m42s but throughout the video you can see some hair move as he rotates the characters.
they are aware how strong chill is, thats why its so rare. They did say that in reaper’s stream
Except with the mobility skill change they removed a large chunk of chill’s power.
And broke the design concept of the reaper. The idea was a horror movie monster that you can’t easily escape from (thanks to chill). This was balanced out by giving them slower but powerful attacks, so getting away from the Reaper was kinda the big idea. Now with mobility changes it becomes (conceivably) easier to disengage from a Reaper when the fight doesn’t look that good.
Self styled ‘elites’ being elitist. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing, if only they weren’t so ill informed. Rangers and Necros are fine. What we’re dealing with here is the idea of ‘meta’ and ‘optimal’ neither of which really have much impact in day to day play. In some peoples eyes if a class outputs even 1% less damage than another than it’s apparently completely broken.
Now classes do have their own play-styles and it’s a subjective matter as to whether you like how a ranger or necro plays, but I can vouch that you can PvE, PvP and WvW with both Necros and Rangers (granted I haven’t pvp in a while, but I’m sure it hasn’t changed too drastically).
Wait, makeover kit hair doesn’t work like regular hair?
There’s no general rule. Some do some don’t. In the make-over window you can shake your characters around, that should simulate movement (not a great solution of course).
So people are spamming F when they see the little popup, and not paying attention as to why or the implications of doing so?
Not sure how ANet could fix this, certainly giving players a target to hurl insults and abuse at isn’t a solution.
What if hostile NPCs in PvE were given same speed as players?
Decided to give a mace/shield guardian a try not too long back. Using the mace block skill (and of course there’s other classes have blocks and counters too and it’s just as relevant) would certainly feel a bit more useful, since it’s literally possible to enter a block and for the NPC to take so long to hit that the block is over by the time it does. Yes I know better timing on my part is needed, but still 4-5 seconds between attacks is pretty slow.
No effects are locked to the skins as far as I know
So to sum it up, regardless of your race, the chances of you living a long and healthy life is very slim in Tyria.
This makes me think. I haven’t heard of anyone using penicillin, so in terms of basic medical knowledge and expertise I’m not too sure how advanced they are. One could assume that Norn, Charr and Asura have a naturally strong immune system, but we know this isn’t naturally the case for humans (presumably since we’re all human here and can speak from personal experience). So what does happen to someone in Divinity’s Reach if they step on a rusty nail and gets an infection? Do they call in the old sawbones? They could probably use magic, but I don’t recall hearing of that either.
Size has always mattered for WoW. Every important character from their universe is abnormally big.
That was actually a mechanical change, in raids it’s kinda hard to see a regular sized character. In fact ANet is doing the same with the new Hylek races in HoT.
I like my condi-necro… maybe that’s just the sunk cost fallacy after having crafted all that verata armour. Still I rather liked what they did with the new specialisations.
