You know how sometimes NPC golems will play a goofy little song, then say “bonjour, good morning”, or something like that? That’s one of my favourite little things in GW2! I’m quite sick of all the “GW is boring” threads posted by people who play every day like it’s the last day they will ever get to play. There is a limited amount of content, and even the replayable content will get boring if you play it nonstop. It takes thousands upon thousands of hours to play through all of GW and do everything, get everything. Yet people do it as fast as possible and complain when it’s over.

And if you haven’t played that much, it’s because you’re not willing to try the rest of the game. This is just like my friend who complains how boring PvE is, but has never left Kryta or gone past lv 40. Yes if you grind the same centaur events 100 times, it gets boring. Same issue, smaller scale.

Now as for actually answering your question, Flame & Frost has released a really cool dungeon that you’d enjoy, but only for a day. Also check the patch notes and see if there were any good changes to the things that you like to play the most. That’s what I’d do if I were in your position. Can’ be bothered? Well tell us what you like to play, and maybe someone will be willing to do the reading for you.

I think Flame and Frost is a reference to the alliance. It’s the Shiverpeak Dredge, hence the frost. In terms of their technology, none of it is flame or frost. It’s “Molten”.

I still think Lemongrass is going to be the limiting factor. It’s a lot harder to find than Rosemary, and nobody plays in the parts of Straits of Devastation where it’s found. Lemongrass has always had a reason to be expensive, it just never was until the Soup become popular. Rosemary has always been on the higher-priced end of herbs though.

As my original post says, none of them are soulbound. I make sure to merch any instanced/soulbound runes I get.

Every time I put 4 rare runes in the forge, a soulbound rune comes out (rare or exotic). Other people I have talked to get runes that are not soulbound, so why are mine? I’m not putting in any soulbound runes, just ones I get from salvaging rares. Every single rune that I’ve gotten out of the forge has been “soulbound on acquire”. Please help!

Auto-target works wonders here if you are having trouble. I’m a noob and still have it on by default cause I PvE a lot and need to target things I can’t see.

@Xirin: I had feeling someone was gonna dictionary-fight me on that one. A role…in life. We have food, professions, a personal ‘life’ story, living world, even homes eventually in the game. You really don’t have to look far to see how MMORPG’s emulate a fantasy life.

And to the other person that wants to quote-war me: that’s how it works, GW1 had limited edition releases, GW2 has already had the Halloween skins which were MUCH harder to get. It’s going to keep on being that way. Exclusive content is fun. It makes your experience of the game unique to what you have played.

People complain about things constantly, and I try and clear the air and explain to them how and why things work, in hope that they would not be so dissatisfied with whatever it is. In the end, you all get offended and attack me instead of trying to see the other side. Seldorin, it’s nice that you think you are entitled to everything just because it’s a “game” and created for entertainment. However games of all types have always had exclusive content. Holiday events, limited time purchases, one-time releases of content, and retired content are parts of most games. It adds an extra dimension to the game that incentivises people to play more. It makes people feel a extra sense of achievement for having those things. Half of your entertainment comes from not the content itself, but the way in which is it delivered. I’ve played with people who use guides for everything, and they completely miss the discovery aspect of the game, and enjoy it less because of that. It’s like receiving a present. Which do you enjoy more: getting a special gift and unwrapping it, or being able to command any gift at thought? I’m not talking about the actual physical gain, but the emotional gain here. And even if you consider the physical gain, nothing in the game is actually real, so the emotional enjoyment is all you have to go on.

So some of my chat tabs are permanently red, as if I had an unread message on those tabs. This has been happening to me since I started playing many months ago. Any idea what causes this and how to fix it? I can recreate the tabs, but then I still get the red label.

A little note: the tab that gets stuck red most often is my guild tab. Just guild chat. Would it be registering chat from other guilds (that I’m not currently representing) as unread? Might it be glitching because different characters are repping different guilds?

So what are you guys doing with all your skins? There’s less than 1000 skins on the TP right now. About a week ago there were only a few 100. Seems that more people are selling , which is dropping the price again. I really wonder how many are being hoarded though.

Also I started farming them daily again on the 21st and haven’t had a skin yet (15 chests a day). So that’s 90 chests, no skin. And that’s not including the time I spent farming earlier in the month. I opened about 200 chests earlier in the month, and got 3 skins. So I guess I’m averaging about 1 in 100.

I didn’t see a thread on the first page about this, so I’m assuming it’s not being talked about enough.

On the Northern Shiverpeaks server at daily reset, an Orr temple zerg forms and methodically clears all the temples in Orr. The amount of people there is INSANE! This is the only time people clear the event, versus whenever it’s up (like any other event there is a dragontimer for), so if you want it done, you need to go then.

I’m all for working together, but the problem is that there are so many people that my graphics (with a decent computer and lowest settings) bug all the time.

1) I can’t see anything but player names.
2) Enemies are dead before they even appear to me.
3) Spell effects show up minutes after they are cast sometimes.
4) The events scale so high that even when I do 1000’s of damage to mobs, I don’t get kill credit a lot of the time, meaning frequently no experience, loot, or event credit.

Now those are the bugs I see in the game. The other big problem is THE PLAYERS. Because of these problems and how hard it is to guarantee kill/event credit, any player who can do so is spamming all the AoE spells they have. Now I don’t know about you guys, but as a mesmer, I can’t compete with ele’s, necro’s, and guardians when it comes to AoE. I’m hardly able to tag anything. Now 2 problems arise from this:

1) Spamming AoE = killing everything fast. People do more damage than they need to do for credit, and anyone who can’t deal massive AoE damage misses out.
2) Spamming AoE = visual lag. The map fills up with spell effects and FPS drops, skill lock’s ensue, and everything appears buggy.

But you all know this. So why is nothing being done? Why do people laugh at me when I try and communicate these issues in map chat?

I’ve done bounties multiple times with dozens of people searching for him and not able to find him. What exactly is your goal here with making a boss which is almost completely impossible to find? It’s one thing to encourage team-work and organization, but when an organized team of 30 people cannot find him within 15 minutes, with multiple attempts, there is obviously a lack of balance.

Yeah it’s ridiculous that Mark2 gives dailies and not this. Megadestroyer consists of what…11 events and a multi-stage boss? Give us dailies!

I think the main issue, whether you want to blame it on graphics, game structure, player base, whatever:

The most attractive things in the game at the moment create zerg-fests, simply because they are just that: attractive to the most people. So either make more things attractive, make these things less attractive, or FIX THE BLOODY SYSTEM that makes things near impossible to do with large amounts of people.

The problem I have with investing items that will always keep going up in price, is that I don’t know when to sell them. Since selling them will always result in you missing out on future profit, it’s most ‘profitable’ to keep them forever. However if you never sell them, you’re not actually gaining any gold. I had this problem in GW1, and to this day I still have a load of limited edition mini pets that I just never wanted to sell.

You can infuse one via forge infusion so it becomes (infused), then you will be able to wear them both. However putting different infusions on them will not allow you to wear both.

Check to see if any of them are account bound, and maybe you can use one on another character instead.

For my runs I don’t do any chests or dig spots or anything in zone 1. In zone 2, I get the following dig spots:
1) Waterfall in the first area
2) Narrow hill up against a wall after first checkpoint.
3) Hollow log just after #2
4) In front of the shop, in the same area
5) Behind the leaf you need to jump on to get out of the water (before the worm)
6) Just before final checkpoint, near a tree. I do it after I beat the boss, to make use of the countdown timer.

Then I have a very specific path I take through zone 3, only picking up a few baubles (similar to zone 1). I finish zone 1 with about 25 baubles, zone 2 with about 295 baubles, and zone 3 with about 275 baubles (after using slingshot to kill King Toad).

I’ve tried getting 500 baubles by the end, and also tried not picking up any baubles or dig spots. The ‘500 bauble method’ provides less baubles per second (BPS), whereas the ‘no bauble method’ provides the same BPS as the ‘275 bauble method’, however it takes less time and yields less baubles.

No it’s not my speakers. I think it’s a bug that has to do with the client itself, since turning down master volume and/or minimizing seems to have no effect on this noise.

Agreed it’s only a minor issue. If the fix is simple, we’d love it. But if it requires a whole team a week to fix, don’t bother with it. There are more important things.

Agreed to all of the above posts. I understand that messing around with a mob’s aggro and reset range becomes an easier way to kill them, and should be prevented, but for us to remain in combat while an enemy heals to 100% is unacceptable.

Has team score started affecting skin drops, and that’s why so many people are reporting decreased drop rates now? I understand that it would be a cool thing to sneak in to reward people for “enjoying” the content, but at this point, the vast majority of people that still play SAB are mainly just farming it. And really, we’re wasting hours of our time if there has been a change made. It would be indecent not to tell us.

@Cexy: Those aren’t all dropped skins are they? No way you’ve had 21 drops. You’ve probably played it no more than twice as much as I have, and I’ve only gotten 3 skin drops.

Well it kind of sounds like one. Ever since day one, I’ve had a bug where while in a city, there will be a very loud sharp noise like an echoing gunshot, every once and a while. The sound even plays while GW2 is minimized, when no other sounds would normally play. What is this sound bug and does anyone else get it?

Don’t forget the tax and listing costs though!

Looking at some posts on gw2lfg.com, some people don’t care so much about gear. So I was hoping that I could get into those kinds of groups before I get full berz. I want to do this farm because it seems the easiest way to get full berz gear fast. I think knowing how to save 20 sec here and there would make up for the decreased DPS from the mesmer. And tbh, mesmer is not there for the DPS really, he’s there for the TW and portals.

Having done a lot of elite farming in GW1, I know just about anyone can farm elite areas with success, however it is the small things that put you above the crowd that I would like to learn. IE: exact timing of feedback, locations of portals, when and where to be moving during the acolyte fight, and what Phira said about using clones for vulnerability. The video I watched was of someone doing a very precise speed run. I prefer that kind of run over the half kitten run where people are running about doing their own thing and wasting 2-3 minutes, much like Dub’s runs probably turn out to be (using only one ability, pft).

I really don’t see what all the fuss is about. I was able to explore all of WvW without fighting a single person. No, you can’t do it all at once, but if you wait until your colour changes, you can explore all the keeps and towers with ease.

WvW is included in map exploration because it includes many PvE elements. It is not just a pure PvP battle map. It has neutral events and bosses, jumping puzzles, gathering nodes, neutral mobs, and yes, vistas, skill points, and PoI’s.

On a similar note: is it just me, or do rare amulets always salvage into exactly one mithril ore, and nothing more?

If it’s any consolation, I see absolutely nothing wrong with “Jilyari”. Doesn’t sound exceptionally feminine to me.

There is an even better vid showing a lot of shortcuts you don’t use, but I can’t find it at the moment. Yours is good for digs spots though, although you do miss a few that I get, and you do some I think are out of the way. A strategy I use that I haven’t seen in any vids is completing the entire final area of zone 3 on the upper level. You can use the large horizontal log to traverse the entire area up to the boss.

Edit: your bomb strat isn’t working 100% for me. Used about 40 bombs and hardly did any dmg. I must be doing it wrong though because I killed him quickly the first time I tried using bombs. Oh well…
