I think this changes will have a great impact on thieves’ gameplay. Particularly speaking about the ini regen rate. It will be a big overall buff to our dps.
Sword #2 will have to be used with a grain of salt instead of mindless spammed, not a big issue.
Pistol Whip will probably have a place again.What i think is missing here is a real group support:
Mesmer’s veil affects a limitless amount of targets and Mass Invisibility affects 10 players while thief’s stealth affects only 5 players.What does a thief do for a group ?
Venoms are bad designed as there is few to no control on them.
We cannot follow a melee train since we are too squishy.
We do not have anything to remove allies’ conditions or foes’ boons.

exactly what i have been preaching as well; thieves might be good roamers (won’t be so great soon) but they contribute little to groups hence why most guilds don’t want thieves or force thieves to reroll other class
i wouldn’t say dead but certanly undesired if they keep “tweaking” class in such manner
i might be wrong, but it seems like class won’t have any niche soon and that is concering considering gw2 is mmo, meaning the game is ment to play with other people; if the group doesn’t desire your class you will eventually either reroll or stop playing – both scenarios don’t look too promising from thief perspective tbh

such attitude destroys wvw not just server; rivality is healthy but not to such point
let’s say SoR would appart, other server would come; let’s say they also fall appart untill nobody does wvw on other server but BG… which would cause BG having nobody to fight -> ppl will quit wvw as it is boring -> wvw will die
same reason why you shouldn’t be rude to other people in pvp but rather encourage to do more pvp; if you tell ppl to stop pvp eventually you will have nobody to fight anymore…
seeing as you have rather self destructive nature, i would suggest you to look for help xD

thieves only surival is stealth and dodge, nerf to any of them means more dead thieves (as if they don’t die already too much); flatout nerfs like that are silly, if they gonna nerf vigor and stealth like this they could have at least buff base suvival
in the world of condi meta, CC spam and perplexity runes we have to rely on stealth and trait dropping condi; buff to mesmers and engis is actually much bigger nerf to us than any nerfs they listed under thief section :/

Dodging and stealth are a thief’s only form of survivability. So much as breathing on it will produce MASSSSSSSSSSSIVE changes.

thieves entire survival is based on it, just look at traits
i am fine with nerfing perma stealth and s/d dodge but they could have buffed base survival a bit in exchange
let’s say they would so something similar to other classes like necros not being able to switch form while stunned or mesmers producing less clones and have longer CD on stealth spells… suddenly it is not just minor change eh?

You know that’s a funny point. Throughout WvW this past year I have yet to see one of their ArenaNet employees out in WvW with a Thief. Just makes me laugh, and proves more points.

well s/d did need a nerf
the issue is that they nerfed quite few options for thief builds and didn’t open new ones (let’s face it those mini buffs won’t do us any good)
i am not fan of s/d, i did like playing d/p and d/d… when patch comes i am not quite sure what build to run tbh; all of them seem to be a lackluster compared to other classes (mesmers gonna be real pain after patch)
i might be wrong but i have a feeling thieves won’t be filling any niche and will be obsolete for a while untill next “balancing” patch at least

i think it needs similar report system as in wow BGs
if you are afk in BG and ppl report you for afk, you get kicked if you don’t start to fight; if you got kicked from BG you get debuff which stops you from queueing for 40 min
if you got reported for afk multiple times (or botting) you might even get banned; they don’t have to necessary bann people but can bann them from doing pvp for month etc.
Legaue has kind of similar system for competitive play
It won’t completely stop people from going afk but probably reduce their numbers

So what you are saying is that someone on blackgate is committing a criminal act (ddos is illegal fyi) and spending money ( a successful ddos on a network like team speak isn’t cheap ) so they can TAKE HILLS ? Give me a break. The excuses are endless
not trying to defend SoR here, but ppl been ddosing for some gains in games for really long time now actually
take wow for example, ppll ddos there, wintrade, fake someone’s else ID to delete accounts etc.; all for title in arena; i am saldy not kidding
you have to realize that many kids play games and usually that are not very aware (nor want to be aware) that what they are doing is illegal
lame but there is no legal way to stop it really

And, don’t the players have the freedom to move around in this manner? Quit blaming Anet because they are making money. The truth that people don’t want to see, is that the players are choosing to do this, on their own free will. They have the same right to leave your server as they do to stay on your server.

i am all up for s/d nerf and i understand why people had issues with perma stealth thieves, but they are not exactly top tier and stealth is ironically the biggest weakness in pvp as you can’t hold point stealthed; changes will affect other specs as well and not in good way, sadly :/
i might be wrong though, maybe some bunker thief will become fotm
S/D did need a nerf, the question is what is anet trying to accomplish with this changes though? Thieves are already rather ok/weak in pvp/wvw and probably least desired. Still low HP, still crappiest healing/toughness scaling in game probably, no protection, no stability (outside of long CD elite skill), less moblity, less dmg and less stealth after patch. What will be thief role in game? Stealth bot for fractals?

Irrelevant. The amount of pages on a thread about something is irrelevant if not backed up with worthy evidence to your arguments. By crying out that something is OP in a majority doesn’t really make any difference if you don’t give good enough reasons to why they are OP. And many people who can’t handle something they find hard to handle will often be the ones who start crying out OP first. It is similar to ducking your heads in the sand, hoping to make your problems vanish instead of trying to handle them.
I can understand that getting a lot of stacks of confusion can hurt, specially when it can be reapplied within short time, but I have seen bleed stacking exist and do quite a lot of damage as well as being able to be reapplied fast. Spamming burning for a long time does a lot of damage, and it doesn’t even wait for you to use a skill to take damage, it ticks by itself monstrously if the caster of the burning has good condition damage and a way to spam it all the time to increase the duration or reapply it if you remove it. Chilling can be a pain to meet often, specially if it is traited to occur every time you blind someone, and this can easily be reapplied in many ways, even by chilling with sigils.
There are many conditions that can be seen as OP if you are subjected to them quite often and can’t handle them very well as a certain class, burning is a monstrous condition to meet as any class, and being a condition built player, you do damage via conditions. This would nerf them even more if they are not allowed to perform these conditions in different ways. Confusion has always been an interesting condition to me, and it does deserve to be this powerful with perplexity. DPS spammers SHOULD deserve to be punished for spamming ruthlessly just to spike someone down, and this condition provides the caster some protection against these glass cannon spikers.
My two cents.
but there is one MAJOR difference between all those conditions you mentioned and confusion…. if you have bleeds/burn etc,. on you, yes you take dmg but you don’t take more dmg by attacking enemy just because you have bleed on you
if you have confusion stacks, any attack you try to execute on target is basically a suicide…. cleanse you say? usually long CD while those confusions are reapplied pretty fast and you are stack between 2 choices: either run for your life or kill yourself while trying to hit target
25 stacks of confusions mean if my character sneezes it will die
I really wish there was some limitation on who could create threads. Forums is just this type of crying all day.

They did reduce confusion damage in pvp/wvw by 50% without it affecting pve though, if they could do that then they could do the same to affect pve but not pvp/wvw I reckon.
the problem is ticking dmg though, it is quite hard to implement actually ( had to programm a game myself for university project) and would require own formula just alone based on flag; it would have include claculation of tick speed, your buffs and modifiers, target buffs and modifiers not to mention that this is a dynamic game so modifiers change every milisecond basically; now add to that direct confusion effect…. myeah…. i am still rather curious how they implemented torment since it is not just dot
flat dmg reduction to target is much easier to calculate since it is basically linear
besides all that, sry, confusion is OP, so no ty

This isn’t about pvp or wvw though, I’m suggesting a change to how it works against NPC’s, not players. :p
but if they changed confusion like that it would affect pvp regardless since there is no pvp/pve flag for spells in this game
It’s because of server limitations. 1 byte can have 256 ‘items’ stored in it, meaning that every stack you have only takes up 1 byte of server space. Were they to increase it, it would put a lot more pressure on their servers.
In fact, if you break the 256 limit, you’ll break the game. Fun story: there was a bug in GW1 where you could use heroes and disconnects to get a bigger party than normal. The highest I ever went with it was making a 20/8 party, but someone I know actually tried to go higher and higher. When he reached a 255/8 party, his game crashed.
TL;DR: it’s never going to happen due to server limitations.
Except when you consider our dungeon tokens in the wallet are unlimited, not 250, then that theory breaks. There has to be a different reason why we’re capped at 250. Especially when you need 250 or more for some crafting or mystic forge things.

tokens are always on account while bank and bags are their own tables basicallyAlso remember tokens and badges both used to stack like normal items, until they finally did the Wallet. So, they may have had the previous limitation and it took some time/coding to make them account bound, and limitless like gold.
tokens and gold is not limitless though
reagrdless what language/data base they are using it has its limitations for nummeric values
just a simple example: let’s say they programm in C++ and decided to use integer variable to store token value; the max tokens you could have is 1000, if you went above that you would get overflow error
