i can make exactly same post about my necro….while she doesn’t have the moblity my thief has her survival, dmg, utility and CCs are absurd and easy compared to thief
i didn’t play every class in this game yet i can only speak for necro, war and thief but atm no matter how they color it, you have to play like god on thief to archive same result as playing war or necro that are mashing face on keyboard
while i don’t want the class to be completely faceroll, the question is what will happen if 2 players of same skill (1 playing war and 1 playing thief) would fight each other? the answer is too obvious and yet they keep nerfing what thieves rely on and buffing (in wrong way) something completely useless like hard to catch
i might be wrong but i have a feeling they see it in the box like: oh hey how do other classes deal with thieves? ok let’s nerf this and that because dodge is OP, stealth is OP yada yada…..yet they didn’t even bother to look from other perspective: HOW DOES THIEF DEAL WITH OTHER CLASSES? yep, he dies in most cases
the nerf in patch notes are all fine in good…but there is no real buff to make up for that
worse, they are actually buffing PU memsers….why??
maybe i am bad player, maybe i am just not good enough on thief and maybe all my statements are wrong, but i watched high rated thieves and they die to completely stupid mechanics from other classes all the time

Thieves are situationally perfect and more often awful underwater. Balancing is mainly done for SPvP so the awfulness of thieves in some PvE settings is not going to happen soon.
there is pvp map that requires you to go underwater——try to fight necros or engis there
run double spears with sigil of energy and withdraw / sigil of precision / infiltration / roll for iniative. and just spam 5, occasionally dodge / steal up so iniative can regenerate

Last time I died to confusion was when I was fighting a group with a perplexity hammer warrior.
All you needed was stability to negate the CC of that hammer warrior (and the confusion).
I bet you are used to always get focused first (knowing you play necro), but if you got stunlocked while others were focusing you it’s reasonable that you died.And as a condi mesmer with perplexity runes, I don’t feel OP against a dire necro.
My only concern is the x6, give that an internal cooldown of 10-15s, so hammer warriors and p/d thieves aren’t better confusion dealers than mesmers and engies.

I played quite few games in the past and in some a lot of people were participating in pvp regardless if pvp was good or not. I like GW2 a lot but i think pvp here is rather…subtile. It is nice that it is separated from pve but i think it is TOO separated from the “rest” of the world.
Looking at examples from other games i think more things need to be added to pvp THAT are usable in pve so people are actually interested in doing it for example like:
- add armor/backpiece/weapon skins that are obtainable only though pvp for reaching high rank in tpvp but can be used in pve (kind of like zenith weapons)
- add actually cool titles
- add minis that can be obtained only through reaching certain rank in tpvp
-add some silly fun items kind of like fun box, also obtainable only through pvp but can be used in pve
etc.
at the end, after running all dungeons, rolling every class in game etc. all that is left is skins….there is reason ppl call this game skin wars 2 even though this trait doesn’t apply only to gw2
in every game ppl like to show off with w/e they reached, like in wow mounts and weapons, in LoL with diamond border on portrait etc.
i think this game needs more items/skins that you could show off in pve (not just finisher zzzz), i believe it would make pvp more popular imo
also i think money can be made on pvp as well….people love skins, ppl love looks
look at LoL, they make money purely from skins and it is pvp game….but ppl feel awesome shooting those lazorz (that they bought for real money) at enemy players instead of generic arrows
another thing is gold… i can make money from running wvw but i can’t make any decent money from pvp…unidentified dyes is a joke :x

Try playing PU-mesmer vs a stealth-based thief that is not overeager and then come back. It takes nothing else than not being overeager as thief to “out-stealth” a mesmer … it is even written in stone in the thief-forum.That being said, stealth is one of many things that are OTT in the game imo.
my point is that i understand why there is revealed debuff on thieves…i don’t understand why mesmers get special threatment

Spending hours and quite some gold on upgrading keeps and towers, all lost within a min to golem rush…sieg is useless due to eles ability to ignore LOS, defense doesn’t really give any real rewards.
Please buff defense:
- eles shouldn’t be able to ignore LOS
- reinforced doors/walls should be harder to take down
- upgraded guards shoul be a threat and not a joke
- outmanned buff needs revamp really bad
- successful defense should give better rewards

I am actually fond of signet of shadows but i noticed that every match it doesn’t grant increased run speed unless you swap it with different spell and then swap back. Anyone else having same issue?

i just run my pvp build in pve… but kind of have to swap to p/p in some fights, especially fractals
in lv 48 fractals, mossman for example, 1 hit you are dead and it is usually not telegraphed

here is the thing: if you want them to nerf backstab so badly, sure
but they would have to buff dmg somewhere else by huge margin and guess what? ppl will abuse it as well since big dmg is ONLY thing that thieves have (outside of moblity that is getting nerfed pretty bad next patch)
asking to nerf backstab is like asking to nerf guardians survivability…

i find it funny how people say that target los is just annoying…. IT IS why people use stealth and it IS intended… stealth by itself doesn’t grant any kind of protection, stability etc. , onky thing that sealth has to offer is target los, auto target would make stealth even worse than it is already
in wow losing target was viable tactics and very helpfull, that is why people who played healer on ally side picked nelfs usually despite human racial being so good
try to play a stealth based target vs any class that abuses AI, those completely ignore stealth in fact all the time
in gw2 the game already kind of auto targets for you, stop QQ and l2p

tbh i think the reason why not so many ppl play is not balance even
look at wvw, it is unfair in all possible way and yet there are masses playing it…. why? archives, shines, loot, can lv up a character etc.
pvp needs more of that and better rewards as well as better respresented leaderboards
in wow for example or in LoL ppl could show off with their titles and mounts… what can high rated player show off with? a finisher?
i think it would be nice if there were actually really good weapon skins that could be obtained only through pvp but used in pve as well… this game is all about skins after all lol

How can you say what thieves will be like after the patch until the patch actually happens and people play quite a bit. This is, in fact, a qq thread.
this is not a qq thread, i am just looking for new ideas and wanna try out new stuff that might be working after new patch or should i just throw a tantrum and make 100th thread about how thief gonna die etc? i know for fact i will play my thief regardless what changes they will do to class; what is wrong with trying to “adapt” ?
why i posted it here? because i am interested in pvp and because i want to build my thief around fighting other classes and not thieves only hence why i asked what do ppl playing other classes find hard to deal with
if people chose to QQ here, i can’t stop them but i am thankfull for ideas some ppl posted here

Clearly the Ele using Phoenix and Dragon’s Tooth can hit stealth>teleport away if those 2 skills miss, restarting the whole fight right?

that is why i wrote spam..you can’t really wait out the confusion to wear off as it just gets reapplied again besides thieves are squishy, they don’t have luxery of “waiting out” and stealth lasts only so long
and yes i am using lyssa runes and condi removal on stealth… it just can’t keep up with confusion spam but since i don’t know mesmers that well i thought someone could give me an advice how to deal with it

How do you deal with those as a thief? I found fighting mesmers incredibly hard, having shs on 50 sec CD isn’t helping either if confusions gets reapplied instantly and clones keep attacking you in stealth.

i HATED wow trinity system… the joke on wow was that w/e patch buffed the hell out of the class, that class was ruling the season untill the next patch; wow pvp was even more “volatile” than gw2 pvp (cough season 12 warriors for example)
wow pvp is REALLY REALLY REALLY bad at this point, devs don’t give a flying cow about pvp; gw2 despite issues here and there is STILL MILES AWAY better than wow pvp
healers? no ty, i like how classes are rather more independed in this game
i don’t want to sit for weeks and look for half decent healer that doesn’t heal just by drooling on his keyboard
from someone who been playing wow arena for years at high rating, archiving balance through small tweaks here and there YES, love it; adding semi trinity to game – HELL NO

Here how to fix the problem about tier 1 and balance the servers population :
You can’t transfer to a server ranked higher than yours.
So BG would not get any transfer until it go down in ranking. Eventually every server will get at chance at #1.

You want a shot at #1? Build a stable community and get some playing skill.
1. Build up your skill
2. Build a community
3. Your skillful guilds transfer to T1
4. ?
5. Profit

They can guest.
you can guest only on 2 servers at time… what if i used up my guest tries to run CoE and CoF… i can see major qq from pve comming
… dungeon is server-region wide; you dont need to be in the same server with your party members to play in one dungeon instance.

pve’er X logs in, wants to do CoE, as always CoE is closed on his server so he goes to guest on JQ and does CoE
then to follow the gold train he wants to run CoF, joke is CoF is close don JQ and on his own server so he goes to guest on BG and does CoE
his friend logs in and says hey lets play together, however pve’er X can’t guest for next 24 hours anymore
besides guesing has its own issues, for example if you ended in overflow and q for main server popped, you won’t be teleported to the main server but to log in screen actually
i am not trying to defend this crap and i couldn’t care less but i don’t see this change happening for the sake of wvw
