yes and no, running mixed d/p pvp build (10/30/20/10, yes with practiced tolerance), just switching weapons and traits depending on boss… i do have acessories giving me vitality and my bow gives me vitatlity as well (was ascended drop) + food of course
examples:
mossman, running p/p with smoke screen
bloomhunger: d/d with signet of agility and shadow step
harpies: d/p for blinds and smoke screen
w/e the name of the robot in poison room is: p/p with thief guild and ambush trap so pets body block poison
fire shaman last boss: p/p smoke screen dagge storm and sb for worms
cliffside: d/p for aoe blinds
dredge: d/d, sb with shadowstep
etc.
the thing is amount of HP on thief in fractals doesn’t matter, you get 1 shot anyway so it is all about dodging in time and using right CDs; this is comming from personal exp, i tried to make tanky thief as test, it doesn’t work lol it is either dodge or die

as i posted before: pvp needs to get reward like weapon/armor skins usable in pve for reaching certain rank in tpvp
looking at any other games, many ppl kept trying to do pvp majorly to get those shiney weapons, titles, icons that they could show off with in the game
in the end this game is all about skins and games in generall are about thing to show off
why do ppl keep running lv 48 fractals? they are not profitable but you get amazing looking weapons that i can use as skins in pve/wvw and sit in LA and look awesome; meanwhile, theoretically speaking of course, i could be rank 1 in tpvp yet i would look like completely lv 1 scrub in LA; nobody (outside of small community) would even know that i am rank 1
yes ppl pvp for fun, but i promise you majority still want shinies they want to brag with and look good with
another problem is: you neither lv up nor get loot from pvp (lol @ unidentified dyes)
why should i pvp when i could go to wvw, pvp there while lving up and actually getting loot
warrior’s healing signet was weak in the past but now it is working nicely as intended.
warriors are not that overpowered.
besides, the hammer, long bow, etc will receive some adjustments in the next patch.it is just that some of the other professions area weak and could use some buff.
like what? as a thief i can’t even touch properly traited/geared warrior due to silly regen/tankiness; should they give more dmg to thieves? nice joke
perhaps your thief is not doing enough damage? in team fights, warriors still go down every quickly under heavy focused fire.
and yes, properly trait-ed / geared warrior would have decent health regeneration and able to tank some damage. such warriors would be appear to be overpowered to professions who do not do enough damage or conditions.
warriors still die fast if enough damage / conditions are applied onto them.
i do not play a thief so i cannot comment on balancing thieves.
you realize glass thieves hit for 6-9k backstabs in average…. and that is still not enough to bring war down…you honestly want thieves do even more dmg? get real
thieves have a lot of problems, but burst dmg buff would be last thing they need
if anything wars survival needs to be toned down

i have done it…i pugged all the way to 49 and i started to play this game few months ago so most ppl were already at high lv fractals so i had hard times finding groups
Whole toxic mobs: insane condi (confusion especially) spam, insane dmg
Aether path + aether fractals: insane CC/condi spam, stupid high dmg
new runes and sigils
No matter how i look at it, the more LS is added, the more i look at pvp and pve changes the more i have a feeling that devs wants us to play warriors/guards.

I personally main thief, i already run condi removal build otherwise i wouldn’t be able to survive a second. I run fractals lv 48 and Teq every day, i finished aether path within 2-3 hours after it came out, i am by no means elitist but i do like to check new content out. HOWEVER i completely gave up on current LS as confusion/torment spam is absurd. Looking as we get aether mobs in fractals and my guess is that lv 40+ gonna be major pita i just can’t imagine my thief being able to do it at all. Not only my lv gonna be reset to 30+ i will also have to roll guardian now probably.
Stop this please. I understand content should be challenging and all, aether mobs are not challenging, they are just stupid confusion/stun spams. I don’t get rewarded for dodging in time because i have only so many dodges and stealth to remove conditions, after that i am dead. Mobs should be designed the way (at least at high lv fractals) that if i dodged in time or used proper CD i get rewarded for it and punished if i didn’t react properly , in reality i just get 10+ confusion stacks on me again despite dodging previous stun or clearing confusions.
@Anet devs: do you guys even test your “new content” on anything else but warriors and guardians?
idk why they are so obssessed with aether blades
yeah those mobs are doable for wars and guardians maybe… for rest of the classes not so much
i can only imagine the horror of running lv 40+ fractals on aether map on my thief
mediocre guardian equals really good thief…. that is major problem with this game in generall

With a flamethrower it’s almost fun. :P
But yes, it’s too long and a bit silly (why do they come out only 3 at a time, and why does the car drive into the door afterwards…? it’s just random).
That part would be a lot funnier if the car wasn’t there at all and, after you killed the boss, the “clown APC” burst into the room and started spilling very weak mobs at a really crazy speed (think 60 mobs in 20 seconds). You could kill them (which would just be fun, not necessarily challenging, but also not boring), or you could just ignore them and go up the ramp to the final boss.
But whoever designed GW2’s dungeons seems to have a health bar fetish. Fractals are actually not as bad as the original dungeons, but some encounters still go on for far too long, and just become boring.
uh there is more than 3 at lv 48, more like 10… the problem is they are relative tanky+ hit really hard and the progression bar almost doesn’t move with wiping each mob
you just literary sit 10+ min at car and mindlessly spam aoe
all that is after sitting for 10 min waiting for thief to solo door because hundrets and hundrets of dredge keep sawpning at door and 1 shot your group basically no matter how tanky you are

Never in the history of ever have I ever found myself being happy that a ranger is in my party.
I know they said no tank, no heal etc etc… but my god whats the point of rangers? Warriors have shout/banners, Gaurdians are almost a prereq for higher end fractals, Mesmers bring utility, Eles have combo fields and Rangers bring…. an irritating pet that prolongs Jade Maw and cant be stowed.
I would love to make a ranger but I cant find a good PVE reason to make one….
Someone please inspire me to make a Ranger because I really loved Rangers in Gw1 and now I’m conflicted =(

Compensation for WHAT? There is a new mechanic starting at FoTM30. That’s great for you if you got to FoTM80 before the patch, but there is now a NEW mechanic that you haven’t progressed past.
i couldn’t care less about fractals, leaderboards or mechanics
i just want weapons and it is reason why i run 48 every day (since i never had luck to get anything under lv 40)
now i have to grind my way back (through probably even harder maps) just to have chance for weps back?… great…
Balancing based on PVE is like.. the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard… not only do you get an extra 20~30 skills in PVE based on race which are afaik completely broken, the content is so mindnumbingly easy. If you had to balance PVE you’d balance it from the content side rather then the skill side..
Everything works in PVE; Phantasm mesmer? works, Full Zerk Frenzy 100b Warrior? Works/OP. Power Ranger? MegaDoubleOP.
No skill required, jam buttons and win. Oh and don’t start with fractals it’s not hard as in skill based difficulty, its Random difficulty and gear grind.
wow pvp is balanced around pve… hence why pvp died there lol
and yeah fractals are not hard
they moved hard to catch trait yo…. jk nobody uses it anyway

i have piles and piles of it… exotics became so cheap… most of them are not even worth selling or are account bound right away (lol fractals reward)-_-
i have zerker thief with 15-17k HP (depending on weapon set) and get 1 shot by everything basically yet i run lv 48 fractals every day w/o big problems (funny fact i am usually the one rezzing everyone else and the last person to die); just pay attention, dodge in time, have team utility up etc.
you honestly just need to make sure your group has at least 1 guardian, rest doesn’t matter really
and as said before, you can’t transmute trinkets

pvp should be about player vs player and not player vs map
if i wanted to do JP pvp i would go to obsidium sanctum, not tpvp

every game has different role for thieves, usually they are evasive sneaky squishy bursty class but mostly play as support dps
in wow they were CC/high dmg support; in LoL eve is support dps jungler
oddly enough it seems like in this game thieves have to sacrifice literary everything to do dmg while other classes don’t; i honestly don’t know what devs are trying to do with thieves…. most of it doesn’t make much sense to me
sidenote: faced ranger and war in tpvp match, stole wars axe, used axe while war and ranger spammed bow, they killed themself, called thieves OP
i didn’t even do dmg outside of stolen axe….-_-

as long as CC and condi spam exists, Lyssa is mandatory
if anything, they should do something about the reason why people run lyssa despite all other 5 bonuses being meh
did you see new sigils/runes?
If you are immo, you should only be safe if you are blocking, with invul, distorcion or skills that give you surviability without moving. Ports shouldn’t also be alowed.

I said I agree with that for single-hit melee attacks. My MM suffers the same issue as I run dagger, but I’ll be frank I don’t see it as much of an issue as you seem to. I rarely get body blocked. Sometimes actually if I see a flesh golem almost dead and I don’t feel like tabbing, I’ll try to keep my target on the necro so my pets attack him and try to swing at the flesh golem near him and I still hit my target a lot of the time, so I do think its blown out of proportion a bit.
well for me main dmg comes from backstab…it comes at quite high cost too….i already have to deal with CCs and condi spam, blocks and dodges… pet block is last thing i need and sadly it happens a lot whenever i fight any class with pet or even kitten rockdog
Im pretty sure the confirmed that Lyssa icd will be changed to 90 secs.
I’m pretty sure that doesn’t make an effect on how strong it is.
I would prefer they just get rid of the stability altogether.

from all threads all i saw so far is this:
. thieves shouldn’t have stealth
- thieves shouldn’t do dmg from stealth
- thieves should be squishy
- thieves shouldn’t have moblity
- thieves shouldn’t have traits that help their survivability

Did it occur to you that ArenaNet designed thieves to not have access to stability? If they did, they would have put it on a weapon, utility or in a trait.
yeah they also had in mind that thieves should be dodgy and stealthy, yet both keeps getting nerfed while condi and CC spam has reached absurd levels
If they nerf Lyssa runes , I want the other classes elite to be nerfed aswell. Because basilik venom is pretty useless …..

Runes of Lyssa are not tied to a particular profession. They have practically nothing to do with one another.
If you are relying on them exclusively to survive, then the problem is either you or your build. The Runes are OP.

Arguing about cooldowns is a bad argument. CC cooldowns need to be shorter than stunbreak cooldowns if you actually want Offense to be stronger than Defense, which you tend to have in a game to make sure it ends.

Well, in a sense they don’t. And by fixing this it TECHNICALLY would be dumbing down the game, as purposefully using minions to body block is a skillful tactic, as many single target melee and ranged attacks hit what is closest to you, it has nothing to do with them being pets versus players. That said; I see why its annoying/frustrating. But my point is fixing this would leave classes like MMs even more vulnerable then they already are with their lack of defensive tools, and thus would likely need to be compensated.

if anything pve spoils players, NPCs are designed to die, most of them will just stand and take beating so players get used to “winning” fights and straight foward encounters…
right now i just finished tpvp match, i soloed war and ranger by stealing axe from war and using it while ranger and war mindlessly spammed their bow spells on me (which reflected obviously) and killed themself basically… i was told thieves are OP, i am sure those guys will run to forums and cry how much dmg thieves do even though they killed themself with their own dmg
Having major issue with pets constantly blocking backstab and other melee attacks. Any half decent player knows it so they just stand on top of their pets and never get hit since for some reason melee attacks prioritize pets instead of players.
I tried to position myself in all possible ways, as long as enemy player is standing on top of the pet, pet will take the hit no matter what.
Necros and rangers are biggest offenders.
Could anything be done about it?
