The fact is, most of the loser’s complaining are casuals stuck in Amber/Emerald/Sapphire and have no clue of the slightest indication to why medi-trapper guard is meta at this time. They also clearly have no clue why they are countered by Rev/Power Warrior. If you are naturally having a tough time fighting a class, get on the class and learn it and its weaknesses.
Good player’s can counter the current guardian meta, stop complaining and learn 2 play. Top Tier player’s don’t ever complain about guardians because you know where traps will be lol.
I am in diamond atm, was legend in all 3 seasons and i think DHs have too much atm and need shaving. 1 guard is already tough to kill, stack couple of them – gl getting the point. Certainly they die if you focus them with multiple teammates but which class doesn’t?

We are talking about class here that got stripped everything but pretty much dodges for the sake of supposed of high dmg and mobility (stealth is not viable since revs and engis can spam reveal on demand, thief has 1 block lel). Meanwhile every other class (but ele maybe) pulls out way higher dmg, often in AOE!!! form, can defend point and some can rotate just as fast really as a thief (sup revs/mes).
No other class has so many requirements for measy 3k dmg (average backstab dmg in pvp) but thieves and they get punished on top of it for other classes having instant or passive blocks/invuls/blinds.

I’ve reported people and supplied screen shots of people map hacking. They don’t do anything with any of it.
LOL once GM actually asked me, if reported person admitted in chat that they were cheating (despite the screenshots i sent)……

Oh and while we are at it. There is that infamous necro that everyone knows on EU for afking and rage quitting. He has been doing it… for years! YEARS! He is still playing, had him in my matches day ago.

I try to drop healing seed on point for teammates or when i rez them.
Gunk is weird, usually i drop it on point to add some pressure, when i can’t get on point myself or when it is time to spam headshots xD. Most of the time i just drop it on downed body o.o I feel like gunk is one of the worst stolen spells because it doesn’t actually help us vs engis, which it should in theory but due to HoT changed it is outdated now. Sadly, chances of it being adjusted are as high as me becoming Japanese empress.

The only issue i have with moa is, when it is cast with haste, it actually is applied before animation even played. You have 0 chance to react to it unless you predict it or just random dodge lol. At least this my experience from all 4 seasons so far and i play with 20-40 ms on average.

Using season1 matchmaking, if you’re underrated, then you have an easier time progressing. That’s been known since before season1.
This is not a problem with MMR. Resetting MMR will not do anything. This is a problem with progression-based systems. In order to progress, good players need to face worse players. That’s what you saw in season 2 and 3 when MMR wasn’t used to match teams. The games were largely lopsided and not enjoyable.
With a progression-based system, you have two outcomes:
- Match based on MMR. [season 1 and 4] *Games are close and mostly enjoyable. * However, progression is very slow, and the best way to progress is to exploit the system.
- Match based on progress (tier/division). [season 2 and 3] Games are mostly blowouts and generally frustrating; blowout losses and even wins become boring after a while. All players progress; the better ones just progress faster. A frequent but mediocre player keeps pace with a less frequent good player (though the mediocre player spends more time playing).
Pick your poison. In both systems, tier/division is largely meaningless.
IF ONLY games were close in s1, s4, they are not however. I experienced way too many blowouts so far (100+ games in this season, diamond).

It affects all CCs. 100% guaranteed to happen: basi venom → steal on target → gl landing backstab because target is floating somewhere, i know he is still on same spot but backstab doesn’t register because game ports target bit behind where it was before. Got me killed so many times now.

So far for me personally this season and season 1 has had the best matches for me, in terms of close scores and balanced matchups. Im super happy with as of yet

Glad for you. Close matches for me are rare. Majority are blowouts either in favor of my team or enemy. Not as bad as last season but it is sadly still a thing.
I am not alone either. I have a friend with 2 accounts, one he had since beta, other is relative fresh. On fresh one he is just on constant winstreak, on old account he has that infamous 50% wl with lot of blowout matches. Same player, same class. Completely different experience.

For the love of any bit of balance left in this game DO NOT make more unblockable skills! All it does is remove the thinking people have to do when fighting any class with blocks, because why care? they don’t to anything anyways and your skills will just go right through it. Also, when your blocking your usually not attacking, so what, you want them to basically be sitting ducks? If anything Tone down the myriad of unblockable skills in the game and leave the ones that require a lot of investment to get.
Example of what I think should stay:
-Revenant phase traversal since it takes almost all of your energy
-Guardian pulls since there is an icon on your bar so you know before you block that you can get pulledExample of what should go:
-Thief Shadow Shot, nothing this spammable should be unblockable
-Corrupt Boon should be blockable by blocks that aren’t aegis since its on a low 15 sec cd so it deserves some counter play
In what game? DHs and mes are prime example how you can block and attack at the same time.
Shadowshot isn’t unblockable, only blind part.
If anything we need more things like corrupt boon due to boon spam that was introduced with HoT release.

People are finding that they can’t advance as fast or far as last season.
One logical explanation is that they were boosted by the mmr system higher than they should have been. Now, without the advantage of being on a team pre-set to win, they find themselves over matched.
Nah, the only reason is because we are back to artificially forced 50% winrate from season 1 with pip gains from season 3.
In season 1, if i won vs decent team i would get 2-3 pips, if i lost but managed to get the score high enough i might not even lose pip. So if you did your best and you were good player you still had positive progression.
In current system it is always +1-1, regardless of your MMR and how much effort you put into match, combined with forced 50% wl ratio it makes progression extremely slow, especially if you add trolls/dcs etc.
And dear Ithilwen.1529, you got 50% win rate is not because of your skill but because it is enforced by the system. Anyone that plays mainly soloq has around 50% win rate unless they don’t have many games on their account yet.
Why do people think its enforced by the system and not a by product of matching you with nearly equally skilled players.
The previous two seasons were a total joke with one team being designed to win BY THE SYSTEM. This season is like season 1 where the 50% win rate is merely a consequence of matching equally skilled teams.
I see lots of complaints about balance in all PvP games but this might be the only game where players are so needy that they complain about a system that is well designed in giving you a 50/50 record once your MMR settles down. I would love to port some of these arguments to the DOTA2 forums and watch those toxic mfers just eat this forum alive.

Atleast thieves aren’t revealed on missing a stealthed attack which would promote more skilled gameplay like warriors’ burst skills.
There are already too many unblockables. Put more unblockables and that would make blocks useless.

Its true that thieves don’t have the raw hp and the armor like a warrior to directly deal with dmg but they got more active damage mitigation in form of dodges and blinds and mobility. Backstab already has high requirements (have crit, be behind target, have stealth up, not get blocked/interrupted, it is SINGLE target spell etc.), was 1 sec CD on top of 1 sec aftercast really necessary, especially in DH meta?
And i love how people bring up dodges. They don’t save you from all, some spells ignore dodges (hunter trap for example). And, yeah great, used my dodges then what? I am sick and tired of getting flamed and harassed every day just because i play thief class. I can play something else, play like crap, nobody says a word. I play thief – someone talking crap to me is guaranteed. I was called named, i was told to uninstall, i was told to kill myself, people afk’d and ragequit matches before match even started because i didn’t want to reroll. WHY IS THIS OK? DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS IS NOT CLASS BALANCE ISSUE? It was never this bad until HoT came out.

Thieves used to be able to fight some classes reliable. It was all taken away due to QQ spam and HoT realease. They effectively deleted the class so they can create artificial demand for revs and increase sales.
I did play rev, i did play other classes. The playstyle is just not fun and doesn’t fit me. Besides if players have to reroll it means devs did poor job, simple as it is. Why should player be punished for devs poor decisions?
Also why should bruisers have higher dmg and mobility than so called assassin class, can you explain me this? Because right now this is the case.

Anet NEVER EVER did anything for thieves, EVER. Their only response was always either nerfs after nerfs or slight buffs that nobody asked for and that often didn’t change anything for thieves.
I am sick and tired of getting flamed and harassed every day just because i play thief class. I can play something else, play like crap, nobody says a word. I play thief – someone talking crap to me is guaranteed. I was called named, i was told to uninstall, i was told to kill myself, people afk’d and ragequit matches before match even started because i didn’t want to reroll. WHY IS THIS OK? DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS IS NOT CLASS BALANCE ISSUE? It was never this bad until HoT came out.
Last season, when DHs weren’t in such great spot i haven’t experienced a single time when they got flamed by team. I bet that block list from thief players is probably longer than from anyone else. But hey, thieves are fine, just don’t put them on my team, right?

Thief is just hard countered by warrior and guardian and revenant, That is why they complain. There are classes that at a certain level of skill are impossible for them to win vs. a Pro league thief could lose to a decent guardian.

Thieves crying about a 1 sec CD on stealth skills while they rejoiced when Warrior’s adrenaline consumption was nerfed i.e. would consume full adrenaline even if the burst skills missed/blocked/evaded and it takes way longer to get to 30 levels of adrenaline on a warrior if the elite is on a CD than for a thief to get to stealth. Atleast thieves aren’t revealed on missing a stealthed attack which would promote more skilled gameplay like warriors’ burst skills.
There are already too many unblockables. Put more unblockables and that would make blocks useless.

Why thieves are so kittened is that we have DHs rampaging around and Anet nerfs tools that helped us to deal with guards, not to mention the class been in garbage tier for 4 seasons now and the nerf also affected builds that were barely viable if at all – Anet just keeps beating the dead horse.
Its true that thieves don’t have the raw hp and the armor like a warrior to directly deal with dmg but they got more active damage mitigation in form of dodges and blinds and mobility. Its a trade off IMO. And this has nothing to do with punishing players for missing stealth attacks like it does for a warrior bursts.
Actually it does. Thieves don’t have sustain to make up for missed backstab (which btw in many cases is not even worth using), you get maybe 1-2 chances to land it at all.
Backstab already has high requirements (have crit, be behind target, have stealth up, not get blocked/interrupted, it is SINGLE target spell etc.), was 1 sec CD on top of 1 sec aftercast really necessary, especially in DH meta?
And i love how people bring up dodges. They don’t save you from all, some spells ignore dodges (hunter trap for example). And, yeah great, used my dodges then what? Blinds are useless since HoT due to passive condi removals and AoE/fields spam. Mobility? Sure, i can always run away but giving enemy point doesn’t win games….

You’re an assassin..and from lore and just common sense, assassins are not 1vs1 brawler, I mean you want to be able to 1vs1 people while having the highest single target dmg in the game and the ability to virtually disengage from anything?…how that makes any sense?
This is my friend in wvw..but he has also some parts from PvP, I can understand that thief may need positive changes ( like all other professions ) but asking for obviously broken stuff instead than ask to fix what few things are broken on other professions….
More unblockables on thief would not make the game any better..by a mile, I mean unblockable backstab?…yeah right c’mon

As far as unblockable goes, there is 2 ways: either reduce amount of passives and blocks in game or allow backstab to ignore block if it hit target from behind. The only thing i can do atm (while DH is camping blocks for ages) is land 1 attack with basi venom and then spam choking gas which does like 0 dmg. Great choices~

Every other class nowdays can decap and “assassinate”. Also what part of thief is assassinate nowadays? Even if i gank DH for example and he doesn’t see me coming, i probably still won’t be able to kill him unless he is bad.
Same goes with rev – he gotta be pretty bad to lose to a thief.
Same goes for engi.
Same goes for druid.
Same goes for necro – sure you can kill them but it is hardly assassination. More like slowly killing a whale.
Only class you can reliably “assassinate” is… other thieves.
Great i can get to point 1 sec faster than druid. Not a big help really. Nothing stops DHs from porting either. Nor revs. Nor mesmers. The only slowpoke class in entire game is necro.
This whole logic with “it’s thieves job to roam/decap/assassinate” died the moment devs created revs and gave everyone and their mother myriad passives and extra mobility (e.g. druids got RTL on 15 sec CD).
Also, this logic is garbage as long as class stacking exists in current matchmaking. What are you gonna do with 3-4 thieves on team and enemy team is not exactly stupid?

The real question is why in the hell can’t they at least fix pvp maps (that been here since launch) if they can’t fix port spells?
Every single thief and rev knows exactly all the spots on maps (coal pile in forefire on point, every single slope/stones, steppes in forest etc.) that get you killed because spells like steal/shs either won’t activate or activate w/o having any effect, yet devs don’t? How come? Oh right……. devs don’t play thieves that is why this class gets constantly smashed with clueless nerfs.

I’m guessing nothing has changed in my X (3? 5? longer?) months of hiatus – in terms of where the thief stands, and WvW (in general).
lol got worse, we got nerfed again xD. RIP d/d.
Besides it is DH meta right now and thieves could never really deal with guards well. The recent nerf actually made it even harder to deal with them and was pretty much another slap in the face.

People are finding that they can’t advance as fast or far as last season.
One logical explanation is that they were boosted by the mmr system higher than they should have been. Now, without the advantage of being on a team pre-set to win, they find themselves over matched.
Nah, the only reason is because we are back to artificially forced 50% winrate from season 1 with pip gains from season 3.
In season 1, if i won vs decent team i would get 2-3 pips, if i lost but managed to get the score high enough i might not even lose pip. So if you did your best and you were good player you still had positive progression.
In current system it is always +1-1, regardless of your MMR and how much effort you put into match, combined with forced 50% wl ratio it makes progression extremely slow, especially if you add trolls/dcs etc.
And dear Ithilwen.1529, you got 50% win rate is not because of your skill but because it is enforced by the system. Anyone that plays mainly soloq has around 50% win rate unless they don’t have many games on their account yet.

Literally every single thing that a guardian can do is being complained about in these forums now. It used to just be test of faith, procession of blades, and dragon’s maw. Now you get multiple posts of people whining about purification, shelter, aeigis, f3, f2, mace, sword, shield, focus, scepter, medis. Pretty much everything is a problem now, even the things that didn’t get buffed.
Other classes got nerfed and just can’t deal with DH anymore unless you zerg them which is not argument as anyone dies if they are focused by multiple enemies.

Been asking for a while, devs nerfed stealth attacks (thus buffed blocks) and basi venom as response :/ Dat logic.
Things that shovel posted are not so bad, although i don’t agree with all. I think if you hit with stealth attack from behind and it crits it should be unblockable but have ICD.
Don’t agree with HS. It is already quite decent spells, it doesn’t need more tweaks.
I wouldn’t make cluster bomb unblockable but make projectile faster.
CnD would be great as unblockable however it would need dmg nerf then otherwise it would be bit too powerful.
We could indeed use some modifying trats. However, the only universal tool (applies to all specs) thieves have is steal and it is already too stuffed :/

Best way to kill DH play Thief, profit, DH can’t handle the insane burst, or on point presence/ Pressure the thief provides with Thieves guild and Unload.
I can’t remember a single patch where a guard couldn’t beat a thief unless they were really really really bad. Even if current DH won’t kill you as thief (you can just bail) you won’t make a dent either because of high healing and block uptime. Not to mention basi and backstab/stealth attacks got nerfed which was huge buff to guards.

Oh god, these people. This is not about whether it is fair or not, whether player should be rewarded or not. It is about game mechanic that was working 2 days ago, is listed on gw2 wiki and yet didn’t work.

okay, so I just played 5 ranked games in a row to get a quick sample of how flooded sPvP is with Dragonhunters and here’s the stats:
5 games (w/w/w/w/w)(Sapphire T3-4):
- DH: 19 (!) players
- Daredevil: 7
- Reaper: 7
- Druid: 6
- Herald: 6
- Beserker: 2
- Chronomancer: 2
- Scrapper 1
- Tempest: 0
Total: 50 players
this was a quick and small sample but as you can see, there’s a clear outlier here. i’ll be playing 15 more games and collecting the profession data from those games to get a better set, however if this small sample is any indication, I’m going to guess approximately 40-50% of all ranked players are using Dragonhunter right now.
this doesn’t happen to a balanced profession.
were you playing thief in those matches? because prof rep is screwed if you always play same class, you should remove yourself from statistic

…aaandddd another day with 3 thieves on my team. I love how it is daily occurrence. Dear dev team either fix thief class or matchmaking. The current combination of those just doesn’t work.
P.S. surely i can switch (which i did) but it is just work around for the bad design. I don’t see why players should be punished for devs poor decisions.
