I frankly don’t understand the obsession with traps build. It will be never properly balanced or be good for pro leagues due to mechanics itself. Funny how anyone even tries to bring pro leagues up as majority of players including posters here are not pro league material, not trying to be offend anyone but top few will be always top few for a reason. I personally just want to come home from work, turn on game and have some fun matches, i couldn’t care less about what is going on in pro league.
As i said, if i were you guys, i would ask for medi hammer/bunker guards viability/changes. Those specs actually do take skill, are fun and have potential to be good even in pro leagues in long run. Traps are just cheap one-trick pony cheese that works only vs non-coordinated teams and classes they hardcounter. Asking for buffs for that build is like asking to buff turret engis build. But then again, no surprise here, everyone jumped on easy bandwagon in season 1 and now flames other and complains that braindead cheese is not that effective anymore.
I also find it funny to claim “traps are where guard stands, just dodge”. What if guard is actually at mid and there are 2 layers of traps at far that you are trying to decap? Smart guards don’t actually spam traps, they port knock you down in the face and dump all traps on top of you at the same time before you can even react since all of it is instant.
Inb4 someone brings up DD dodge spam again – i personally hate the elite from thieves, i refused to play it for very long time (played core for 1.5 seasons) and was forced to eventually roll it because of revs and scrappers mainly. If Anet had courage to actually tone down elites and make core more viable i would go back to core build right away. Sadly all suggestions i made for this so far fell on deaf ears :|

Most DH traps have a solid “trigger” time, before the actual damage or effect take place, i.e. they can be dodged after getting triggered. Ranger/Thief traps trigger instantly, which imo would be far better than what DH traps are atm.
So how bout we do that, make DH traps take a little more time to set, but get instant undodgable effects instead. Only trap that would keep instant cast would probably be the stunbreak one (few enough people use that aside from the trait anyway)

I got legend in all 3 seasons and i think matchmaking is very badly designed. My personal problem is that whole team stacking algo which guarantees one team to win no matter what. It leads to very boring matches, especially when you are already sitting in 1 hour queues for it. Players in legend do not enjoy current MM either, fyi.

You mean like all games with MMR try to accomplish? The GOAL of MMR is to increase the difficulty on you as you win until you lose and then find the sweet spot where you go 50/50.
It would be great if this game just used that “same old algo”, at least we would get good games after awhile, instead they have skewed it so you can grind up your pips/divisions to get the wings which completely invalidates any kind of MMR equilibrium.
No, it puts you in team of really bad players vs really good team if you have too high win rate and on team of really good players vs bad players if your winrate is too low. IN OW it is bit easier to see due to level. You get games like lv 100 players vs lv 10s with 1 lv 50 player and vise versa.
Fun Fact: OW levels are as indicative of “skill” as GW2 SPVP ranks. Good try guy.

At this state of the game it kind of does indicate experience since game is new and only doesn’t apply to people who played in beta. In GW2 levels became meaningless because game is almost 4 years old.
Who would you prefer to play with in gw2: with someone who has done 20 matches or 5k matches?

No one swapped? I play in legendary too, people generally are more willing to swap there or multi-class. . .I am surprised that no one did. Even so, how come you don’t swap off thief if you see 2 others?
Nah, we did swap (and won actually) it is just comical how all 3 thieves got stacked on 1 team while Anet insists on thieves being weak in 1v1 and unable to hold points in a game that is all about holding points.

Complain? I am saying rangers seem like the weakest class in spvp because I can kill them 98% of the time on my non-HoT builds. Why can I kill rangers so easily while other classes- particularly ele, engi, and condi warrior are virtually gods?
They’re not, you have just had the luxury of fighting very bad ones.
Right…. nearly all the rangers I played against are noobs, the players on the other classes are just pro.

There’s occasionally instantly 4 people switching professions to have a balanced comp, when I play on certain divisions, on EU servers especially.
Players have all the tools to play with competitive comps, the only thing standing in the way of that is not caring enough. I think as a playerbase we need to move more towards a culture of class switching.
Look how Overwatch does it.
OW is completely different game with completely different mechanics /faceplam. Heroes in OW are also very balanced since it is pure pvp game.
Class switching is not that much fun in gw2, i am personally sick and tired of switching class so other players can have their “fun” and i am forced into something i hate playing.
@OP: problem with platinum division is that queue times will be even longer :|

As far as pvp goes: i am in legend so whoever teams with me will be also facing legend/diamond players and sit in 1 hour q (we can zerg Sindrener and pretend we are good xD). Unranked might work actually, idk if they count for guild missions though.

Depends who the player on thief is, but generally i always go for caps. Thieves nowdays are more elusive than ever due to 6 dodges, you will be wasting time trying to catch one meanwhile you could have decapped/capped a point.
You may try to kill them if they are at your skill level or worse but when i face players like Sind i just avoid them.
I also try to stay away from big fights since usually i would just get trained and my team never supports me nor focuses enemy thief.

When other classes become as squishy as dps mes and thief, surrreee…. But trust me, you won’t like it.
Take most immobile class: necro. They would have to give up passives, high HP, constant weakness, some of chills/immobs/cripple/fears/torment, some of the healing and leeching and would have to completely give up pets and death shroud.

Very old bug, usually caused by taunt or knocksbacks/pulls done by enemy while your character uses port skill. Only fix is to type /dance or /sit.

I remember i would queue non stop, i was almost addicted to pvp even when it didn’t give any rewards but lol glory. With consistent nerfs to thieves for years it became less and less fun. June patch definitely killed it for me. HoT launch was horrendous – i quit pvp all together for a while.
Leagues were actually a good idea imo, but really really badly designed and implemented. They are grindable and unfair to players with average/low MMR. The 50/50 algo on top of current 60%/40% MM completely took fun out of – as single player you have almost 0 impact on match outcome because odds are always so stacked against one of the teams that even if1 player afks the “winning” team will still win.

Should give more reward for each tier in legend. It is flipping legend after all. Give extra tickets in legend and allow to buy nice rewards for those tickets (e.g. special skins, convert them to gems and what not).
Atm in legend you sit in 1 hour queues for totally lopsided matches just to make tiny bit more silver than from unranked……………………………… (i am not even gonna start on mindless farming in pve zones).

Its because they are not an effective point presence. How can you mostly hold 2 points for a majority of a match with 2 people playing a class that can die to random cleaves and aoe quite easily.

Thieves have no access to Resistance.
Thieves have virtually no access to Stability.I’m not totally sure, but I think the rune effect can be blinded. That’s one of the reason I always Blinding Powder into Steal into Fist Flurry to land my burst.
But yeah, in general, you just have to hope that someone in your team has already activated the passive. FeelsBadMan
