There is a flaw with your suggestion. Sometimes pretty bad players get carried by really good group. There is druid on EU that is outright terrible, most of the time all he does is spamming AA, doesn’t help teammates etc. He is legend now. I saw him getting carried by good teammates he keeps getting because apparently MM decided so.
Long story short, your suggestion doesn’t prevent “less” skilled players from landing in higher divisions and being a dead weight there nor getting farmed at some point.

Actually, D/D is still used in PvE, and it’s slightly higher than staff DPS (albeit harder and easier to mess up as a result), and it uses Backstab.
What more do you need to be updated on?

What I dont understand about OP is that season 2 heavily favor high mmr, and if you got legend last season which proves you have an high mmr. Why would you stuck in this season if the system favors high mmr? Also how many games you played? From what I understand you didn’t play much games this season, and just go like" I can’t progress in the first like 8 matches so MM sucks" What? Also screenshots of your total game played so we can get a better understanding of your situation?
Just because you got legend last season doesn’t mean you have high MMR, in fact the more games you played solo the worse you are off. I needed 257 games this season to get legend because of my crap MMR. On new account it would take probably like 60-80.

If guard/dh is so bad off, why am I seeing teams consistently stack with 2-4 DH and win? In my opinion Pro League is pretty much irrelevant to day-to-day PvP.
Once you come out of amber division you start seeing a lot less guardians. Amber players have a tendency to sit in traps and not even know there is a dodge mechanic

People were running mesmers, one of the other classes I mentioned. And that’s because thieves were nerfed from beta where they were outright ridiculous and everybody was playing one.

They went bunker because thief overshadows shatter/offensive mesmer by a mile, as does revenant. Shatter mesmer can neitehr compete with revenant or thief for offensive roamer.

Nobody played thief in season 1 and barely anyone in season 2. Revs probably were bigger issue. But the fact stays people would roll bunker with high dmg if they can because of the nature of conquest = you need to hold points. Blaming thief alone for that is plain stupid.
Even before HoT came out, some teams in ESL didn’t run thieves, you think people on enemy team switched builds? No. Because conquest is about bunkering.
Fun fact, frosty was murdering every thief on his way on his mes even before june patch.

On the heals of 23 straight losses last night, I just came off an 11 match loss streak.
Are you going to tell me that this matchmaking is in any way “fun”, “fair” or “competitive?” REALLY?You know when Mesmer started doing better than average it was emergency nerfed. Now Warrior is just crushing it. I’ll wager it will be allowed to do so throughout the season.

Playing other classes helps to know their weakness and to counter them.
Bad rotations are probably main reason why people lose games. Record your games and watch what mistakes were done and what could have done better.
For certain classes you need good reflexes/internet (e.g. shatter mesmer, thief), if you don’t have it you might consider playing something more auto-pilot and tanky (e.g. druid, MM necro).
Always assume your teammates are mindless drones that don’t know wth they are doing, gotta play around that.
DO NOT do road fighting, having point > kills. Points win game, not kills.

If that is truth it makes sense, A matched to a lesser group B, then B matched lesser group called C, and C to D, every one wins at the end, and everyone will continue to play, also might atrack more skrits, i ment pve players to pvp.
Good on paper but in reality you have lower division players being a fodder and having insane loss streaks (check other threads). If anything “the skritts” would rather never touch pvp ever again after such experience.

Let’s assume Joe is in legend/high diamond and queues solo at night. Let’s assume there is no diamond/legend players online. Obviously Joe will have very long queue time. But will he ever get a match?

The build is very cheesy. I don’t think anyone with a conscience can deny that. However, there IS a break in the evades. It is hard to exploit because your cc needs to be perfect on timing. For example, a thief can easily shut down a d/d build. All you have to do is stun (basilisk) then use instant-cast cc (steal). They very easily melt after that. I really hate to say it, but it is a learn to play issue.
Note that I do not play d/d condi

By using dodge, teles, stealths, evades, blinds, and interrupts appropriately and skillfully. The thief build OP is talking about is the death blossom one, which is the skill equivalent of the old turret engi.
But OP doesn’t want thief to have dodges. Stealth is hardly viable due to reasons i listed before. Interrupts don’t work due to high uptime on stab for some classes as well as instant spells. Ports have relative high CDs and don’t save you from damage (sup revs).
DB thief is cheesy as hell but doesn’t kill anyone with brains and dies when focused.

THIS happend to me in majority of games in season 1 because i played thief, and no, not only notorious afker prince was involved in such actions but quite few other players. You think customer support did anything? Naaah. I met same people every day in matches. And i will probably get banned for this post because claiming that some players harass other players in game is against forum rules apparently even though i have logs and screenshots. The didn’t punish people for harassing player in game but punished the player that got harassed. Let it sink in.
What is even more funny, “prince” player was famous for afking in matches all the time, FOR YEARS!!!!! Anyone on EU knows him for that (i am proud member of his block list). You would think customer support would do something by now……
