I’ve been playing since launch.

The crying will not stop. The best warriors will continue to dominate and the weak will re roll to other classes. Simple as that. Plus, it’s more of a challenge for me. I welcome the change!

So…. basically, you’re claiming that that this change was nothing but sunshine and puppies, and everyone who feels otherwise, must feel that way because they’re bads who’re worse than you?

don’t bash it until you try it. the patch hasn’t been live very long. however, I agree that earthshaker is pretty much useless now. I’ve never found it useful tbh anyways. any good player will dodge this skill.

I say give it some time and see how it plays out. these changes aren’t final. people need to relax.

you can stop adrenaline attacks from activating by swapping weapons or pressing esc.

I understand the “dont bash it till you try it” line, but im experienced enough as a person, and a gamer, to be able to extrapolate, using the available experiences and information at my disposal, and come up with a long term projection that is accurate to an extremely high degree.

If these changes aren’t final, as you say, then all the more reason for us to be vocal with constructive feed back (hence my post), so ANet knows what tuning to perform, right?

As for swap-to-stop: So the proper answer to a bug, is to force myself into a weapon I may not want to be in at that moment, with 10 seconds before I can change back? (5 with fast hands). And that’s assuming I know the bug is even going to occur. it’s not every single time. And what if my swap is on cooldown??
Sorry, but swap-to-stop is just a terrible reply, for multiple reasons.

So, I’ve heard a LOT of people quoting “Adrenaline loss on miss is good, learn to set up your burst skills with CC! L2P!”

On paper, I’m sure that sounds like a valid line of reasoning, but I’d like to point out a few MASSIVE flaws with this theory.

1. Some adrenaline skills ARE set-up skills. Earthshaker is an AoE stun, Skullcrack is a stun, and Flurry is an immobilize. Are you seriously telling me that to get a CC move off, I need to first CC my target??

2. Risk vs Reward is WAY off right now. Evisc may be the exception here, as it does massive damage when spec’d and built correctly, but landing any other adrenal skill is NOT a balanced Risk vs Reward currently. Hitting means a mediocre hit, sometimes a neat effect, but missing means a loss of all that adrenaline which is also required for other things, in addition to the skills cooldown.

  • Unlucky blinds that just happen to hit you RIGHT as you’re casting happen.
  • Lucky dodges that your opponent just happen to hit at the right time (vs bad players).
  • Skillfully timed dodges versus severely overtelegraphed moves (vs good players).

3. Adrenaline skills are BUGGY! They always have been, but it hurts even more when you’re penalized for it! Just TODAY ALONE, since the patch, I experienced no less than FOUR UNIQUE instances that cost me my full adrenaline, by NO FAULT of my own.

  • Earthshaker on an uneven surface. We’ve all been there before.
  • Burst skill delays on knockbacks and stuns. For example, I was just hitting flurry when I was knocked back by an opponent in PvP. As soon as the knockback finished, my character cast flurry, a full second later! I clearly no longer wanted to cast it, and was not pressing it after being struck, but it’s almost as if it sat Queue’d up!
  • Cleansing Ire: A huge portion of our survival vs condi specs is reliant on spamming burst skills. Missing a single burst can leave us stuck with a stack of bleeds that can LITERALLY cost us an entire fight, all because one of the above bugs/overtelegraphs occurs.

My proposal is that adrenaline be retuned ,so a miss only costs ONE BAR, instead of all 3.

It’s not just a mechanical nerf, it’s a HORRIBLE quality of life nerf too!

*Decay starts too soon after exiting a battle. Add kitten grace period?

Snipped slightly

when Thief initiative mechanic was nerfed (“balanced”) into the ground and back, what did ANet do? Because the Thief initiative class mechanic basically relied on taking specific traits and utilities to maximize performance, ANet increased the base initiative regen and nerfed the utilities to diversify builds.

In Warrior’s case, they nerfed (penalized) Warriors Adrenaline gains (even the best Warriors can’t avoid blind spam/Aegis so losing all your Adrenaline for no impact will be very common) and now Warriors will “need to” take specific traits and specific utilities as well.

Probably the most accurate post I’ve read all week.

Adrenaline is 1 strike per hit, 10 strikes to fill a bar, so 30 strikes total.
Swap trait is 5 free strikes
Crit trait is +1 strike per crit
New Zerker stance is +30 free strikes over time
Longbow double hits so thats 2 strikes per attack
Axe cycles hits very fast, while Mace is slow as anything
Cleansing ire is +1 strike when hit by an attack

This creates a HUGE disparity, between traited and untraited warriors in regards to adrenal gain.

Here is how I propose ANet address the issue:

Adrenaline Bar – All hits grant 2 strikes of adrenaline, regardless of double hits (longbow/axe autoattack) and multi hits (melee-cleave/aoe/pierce). Baseline, removes 1 condition per bar of adrenaline gained.
Overall this should not increase or decrease gain, but simply stabilize it and make it more consistent. (Sometimes you can plink away for 1 per hit, and other times you’ll hit 3 targets and crit, for 6 strikes per swing).

Cleansing Ire – Grants 1 strike of adrenaline per hit taken, and 1 strike per second if you have one or more conditions.

Signet of Rage – Passive: grants 1 adrenaline strike every 1 second

Versatile Rage – Still gives 5 strikes, which is weaker relatively, since weapons will generate faster overall, vs single target.

Berserkers Power – When you fill a bar of adrenaline, you gain a Warrior specific buff that increases damage by 3% for 10 seconds. Stackable to 5, each duration is tracked individually.

Now missing with a burst skill carries no excessive penalty beyond the skill itself not landing. The reward and punishment now matches the risk taken.

So the alternative is that you get blinded, so you don’t even bother to activate the burst skill until it’s cleared? Talk about removing counterplay.

Counterplay is not supposed to be infinite in iterations. There is nothing wrong with “big windup, better blind him” any more than there is with “big windup, better dodge it”.

Besides, you can cancel burst skills with escape, sheathing weapons, or activating your heal skill. Even if you don’t cancel, “Fear Me” and “On My Mark” can both clear a blind mid-burst skill and let you land it anyway. “On My Mark” can even clear an Aegis. You have the options, it’s not my fault you don’t like them.

So, let me get this straight:
You think blind skills that have no cast time, are highly accessible, and easily spammable, should be the counter to a classes core mechanic that requires building up 30 strikes, and then has a slow windup and obvious telegraph?

When you say counter-play, I think you’re forgetting the part where said counter-play needs to require an equal amount of effort, resource cost, and skill otherwise it creates imbalance.

And then you think it’s acceptable to be forced to blow long 60 CDs such as “Fear Me!” just to potentially counter say, Black powder which has no cooldown (6 init, 4s duration)? And I say potentially because it can easily reapply the blind during the animation.

MANY times have thieves dropped a blackpowder during an earthshaker animation. OMM and fear me would NOT help in those situations, the blind would still instantly reapply.

With this change, no warrior will ever be able to burst skill a black powder thief, the cost to use Blackpowder is so low, and the cost for a burst so high, it becomes an EXTREMELY imbalanced Risk:Reward to even bother to use burst.

What im saying is, this will ENCOURAGE people to use the passive adrenaline traits, and push us closer to passive play, not active play.

Also, you STILL did not reply to these points:
*What about the times that the burst skill bugs out? Should we lose our adrenaline then?
*Earthshaker often has issues hitting people who are on a SLIGHTLY different Y-axis, say up a ramp, or (and I kid you not) happen to be jumping. Should we lose all our adrenaline because of sloppy coding?

Finally, NO, you cannot cancel all burst skills just by hitting sheath. Some can be cancelled, others cant cancel, and with the way ANet codes things… there’s a good chance that cancelling will cost us all our adrenaline after this change goes through anyway!

My point is this: the goal of this change is to make burst skills something that are used more carefully, and not spammed. With that goal in mind, maybe, just maybe, there should be a reward for using them properly, not punishment via adrenaline drain for having the misfortune to suffer from slow windups, obvious telegraphs, buggy hit detection, and 0 skill blind spam, which can easily result in a miss.

Your point seems to be simply “l2p!”

But if burst skills were less buggy, and more responsive, I dont think this adrenaline change would be a big deal. In their current state, however, it has the potential to cripple them MORE than it would it they were functioning better.

Getting blinded just as you cast the burst is called good counterplay.

Getting blinded AFTER I start casting a burst skill, DURING its incredibly slow execution, with no way to abort the burst skill, or remove blind, is NOT good counterplay, because there is no viable counter-counter-play.

Good examples of counterplay
“If warrior does A, you do B, Warrior counters with C, you counter with D, etc” till someone fails to react properly and is punished for doing so

Bad examples of counterplay
“If warrior does A, you do B. Warrior has no C. You win”

Warriors have plenty of skills, including hard and soft CC, to make sure the burst lands and there are plenty of Warriors in the forum that welcome the change as they were already using their skills to ensure burst. If there is plenty of Warriors up to challenge, why shouldn’t you be a part of their community instead of asking for a free pass? If other Warriors have no problem at landing bursts, why should you?

Strawman argument. Does not address my point (quoted directly below this) that many burst skills are NOT finishers but SETUPS.
Oh it also pulls a classic “if you were good you’d welcome this change, but you dont so you must not be.”

Also, might I point out that while Evis is a finisher style burst skill, Earthshaker and Skullcrack are SETUP moves, NOT finishers, despite being burst skills. Overall low damage, but a powerful control effect.

So, why do I need to setup to use my setup moves?!? Do I now need to immob someone, just so I can skullcrack? Why would I even bother, I’ll just cut out the middleman and go straight to my final goal once they’re immob’d!

You, my friend, are very lucky to have never encountered this. It happens quite often to me. After a night of playing, I’ll have typically experienced it 3-4 times.

I’m for all the changes, I think they’re all fine for Warriors (even the GS nerf/shift) except for…

*Earthshaker is dodged, because the telegraph is INSANELY slow, obvious, and anyone with reflexes better than your average sloth can dodge

Currently, many of our bursts are highly telegraphed moves that can be easily dodged, but they do not penalize us for being dodged.

Dont you get it?! You cant make a skill easily dodged, and then penalize the player when his move is inevitably dodged! That’s a horrible approach.

Reactor Fractal Bugged: Cant Finish

Got the Reactor fractal as our 3rd, and the Cooling Rod where you’re supposed to save the engineers bugged. The door wouldn’t open, so we couldn’t get the rod.

But we managed to wade into the reactor-death-area, hit the panels, get to the anomoly, and defeat it!

We watched the victory scene…. And then nothing happened.

We were stuck on the platform, with no way to advance. The top right corner said Fractal Stable, Depart when ready.

Yeah… those sayings you keep mentioning? Not real sayings. You’re just pulling them out of your backside. In fact, I’m fairly certain that applies to 95% of your forum post content actually.

You ramble on about truth! which is actually just your personal opinion. Opinions can neither be right nor wrong. But you are wrong when you start claiming your opinion is truth.

The truth is that class balance is highly subjective. It is EXTREMELY difficult to balance moves which are similar with moves that are dissimilar, even if their goal is the same. It goes into a whole ’nother level when you try to add unique mechanics, traits, build diversity, etc.

To FURTHER complicate that, you throw the META into the mix. The meta can easily take an ability and, while mechanically is considered to be OP and may in fact be quite powerful, reduce it’s effectiveness to a balanced state. Why? Because everyone knows about it, and everyone knows how to counter it, and is prepared to do exactly that.
For example: Bulls/100b was “TEH OP!” way back when, till everyone realized “stunbreaker, GG”.

And after preaching all about your so alled truth, you make highly absurd examples, like “yours with 10x damage and min [sic] with 1x damage”

And let’s not overlook this gem of yours: " you warriors need to be humble to have anything going good for you "

So in that simple statement, you’ve made it obvious that you’re both biased against the Warrior class, and that you clearly see this as an “US versus THEM” argument, and not a constructive discussion about balance.

I mean this sincerely: please stop posting in the warrior forum, forever.

Sorry Ewon, but im going to disagree with you here.

You ‘compulsion’ to hunt down every achievement point, is your problem. Why should other people lose out on having fun spamming achievements (if thats what they consider fun) and getting a leaderboard spot?

You need to solve your problem for yourself, not ask ANet to change it just so you dont have to deal with missing out on some AP daily.

Increased pulse duration… almost sounds like a buff.

Now it’s perfect for only hitting players with a single pulse that does even less damage for a power build….. and doing mad DPS to AFK people! Woohoo.

Cosmetic Equipment Slot – Full-body skins (Cloaks, Capes, Robes)
-This slot is acount-unlockable, purchased using Gems
-This slot houses a full-body piece of cosmetic gear, such as a Cloak, Cape, or Robes. It displays on your character, and are worn OVER, and in addition to, your characters normal armor.
-Full-body skins are random drops, crafted, or purchased with karma. Additional unique full-body slot items are available through the Gem store as well.

They do not carry any stats on them, and are purely cosmetic items.

Cosmetic Slot – Weapon Sheaths

-Equipping a sheath in this slot will display that sheath skin for the currently equipped weapon.

Alternate Animation Packs
Much like the menu that lets you switch between finishers, perhaps alternate animation packs could be added (buyable with gems of course) that allow our character to use other sets of animations for certain attacks?

For example: A human male using the sword swinging animation for a norn male, or a Sylvari male, using the scepter swinging animation for a char female. Even the spike animations (not the resulting finisher effect) could be changed!

it seems like 2 people that dont even play pvp make all the decisions for pvp content.

All that was needed to fix warrior was to move UF and nerf the healing sig a little.

I’d even disagree that Healing Sig needs to be tweaked. Really, UF needed exactly what it got, a move from Adept, to Master.

None of the other changes are really warranted. UF, Burst Mastery, and Earthshaker getting nerfed together, by such large amounts no less, is just sorta absurd. That’s overbalancing, plain and simple.

And longbow does NOT need ANY nerfs at all. If anything, the pulse speed needs to be sped-up to 1s (not really a direct buff). If there are Adrenaline bugs and issues, those can be addressed at the adrenaline level. They should NOT be addressed by slowing down pulses on an ability.

That’s like saying “we’re getting too many traffic jams! Instead of making our toll booths faster and more efficient, we’re just going to lower the speed limit!”

Dredge Fractal Fixed

1. They should really change the 2-button part, so you only ever need to stand on 1 at a time, not BOTH. Many classes defense is based on mobility.

2. The bomb part is just painful, it’s run in, drop bombs, die. Repeat till doors open. That’s a terrible mechanic.

3. The clown-car is just stupid. Change it so we have to first fight the waves of dredge, AND THEN the boss pops out at the end! As it stands, all everyone does is glitch the boss so the group de-aggros, and you fight the boss solo anyway. And less dredge in that clown car, maybe like 25 or 30, instead of the 100+ that seem to pop out….

But honestly??? The ENTIRE Dredge fractal can be fixed with this simple change…

NO MOTHERkittenING GODkitten DREDGE RESPAWNS.

What’s so difficult amount remaining close to Mai and then stacking within melee range right before Horrik uses his debuff attack? It’s not like his attacks are random and the debuff removes the stacks really quickly unlike in the living story version.

I’m actually quite lucky: Mai ALWAYS goes for me, during 95% of the battle, no matter what group I’m in.

I’m not being sarcastic, I consider this lucky. Her attacks and pattern are easy to read, and shes cake get to stand inside the blue-electric field as long as shes chasing me.

Every now and then, I get lazy and she drops 3-4 stacks of bleed on me. Woo. Press #7 to clear, and collect my lewt. I’ve soloed her from 75% (the first cannon phase).

I’ve also solo’d jade maw, cakewalk…. for some reason 1 guy DC’d, and the other 3 quit….?!?!?

My whole team except me wiped around 6-7 times because of the cannons. Jeez, most of the time you can even run around the circles and not press the dodge button once. ITS SO SIMPLE.

It said triple, and for a time was triple. Maybe they bugged it at some point down to double? Wouldn’t surprise me given ANets track record.

Thus, my purpose should be obvious: I’m trying to draw attention to this so they can confirm it either as an intended stealth nerf, or bug/unintended change, and take the proper corrective action either in the path notes (in the case of a nerf) or fixing the trait (in the case of a bug/unintended change.)

Glass builds can’t affort to go into defense line so this trait is actually helpful for em. And lets face it, outside of that str adept is worthless

Edit: Restorative strength, along with many other traits, is just odd, and oddly placed in the trait trees.

1) Please add some of the other mini-games to the rotation, such as:

  • Winter Snowball fight
  • Zephyr Elemental Arena
  • Dragon-ball

2) Please rename the “Citizen” to something more fitting (Mini-Game Master?)

3) Please have TWO daily mini-games, instead of just one

4) Please add back in Glory to the mini games
Yes, I realize it was a bug, but it actually was great, since you use your sPvP mode character in there. This way you can buy more cool lookin PvP gear and stuff!

Ofc it gettting nerfed and they don’t care what kitten u write. They had to get some reasons out of hat in order to nerf it to shut up masses. Theres a reason why posts about warrior been completely ignored, left unanswered and the nerfs coming no matter what.

That’s a pretty negative attitude… though I can’t say it’s entirely unwarranted either.

I’m frankly bewildered at their lack of understanding, regarding their own game mechanics (not just combustive shot/adrenaline either, that’s drop in the bucket) and lack of any kind of response to the many, many posts and statements about the Dec 10th change.

I’m hoping they’re simply busy trying to make it work out properly. Not that combustive shot even NEEDS any nerf or changing to begin with, but if it has to be done, do it properly.

I guess we’ll find out in 8 days. I sincerely hope you’re wrong Scoob.

December 10th Change:
Combustive Shot – Increased pulse duration to 3s. Increased burn duration per pulse to 3s. Normalized damage per pulse. Updated pulses per tier to 2, 3,and 4 respectively for tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3. Overall physical damage has been reduced by 15%.

Longbow
A lot of thought went into the change to combustive shot. This skill was simply too effective at renewing itself. One of the drawbacks of the burst skills needs to be losing your adrenaline, but this skill was easily able to restore all of the adrenaline it lost. Rather than reduce the burn duration we reduced the # of attacks this skill creates because we felt it made it more counterable in PvP and less reliable in PvE as an adrenaline builder.

So as many others have pointed out in the forum, Combustive Shot does not generate adrenaline.

This would seem to somewhat undermine the claim that “a lot of thought went into the change” since there appears to have been a complete misunderstanding of how the ability functions.

The only way it generates any adrenaline is when you have the Grandmaster trait, Furious (arms 30) which is in a totally different tree than the longbow traits (tactics). And even then, it only generates a strike when it crits, not just hits. Furthermore, there was no mention of Furious at any time in the change, or explanation post.

Slowing down the Pulse is a terrible change for the functionality of this ability. If anything the pulse should be sped up, to 1 pulse ever second (and damage balanced accordingly of course).

See, if the reason is to reduce Adrenal gain with furious (which is the only time it occurs) wouldn’t the correct solution be to alter Furious, so that it only grants adrenaline on non-burst skills? Or if you want it to function with burst skills, so it only generates 1 adrenaline per pulse for Combustive shot regardless of the number of targets hit?

Furious:
As you can see in the notes above: June 25th, it was changed from 1 strike to three strikes because it was an underused trait, much like Desperate Power. I don’t understand why this trait is a Grandmaster, it honestly sucks pretty badly. I would like it changed back from 1 to 3.

Had a thread in the BUG forum for this for a month now. I’m going to continue to bump it regularly until the issue can be resolved.

So any word from the Dev’s about the combustive shot change?

We’ve had tons of discussion about the reason for it’s pulse nerf (reduce adrenaline generation), not matching up with how the ability actually works (it doesn’t actually generate adrenaline)…. but have they replied to it? Does anyone know?

I wouldn’t have minded her if she weren’t some complete Mary Sue.

Lets look at the Decay of her character, from an alright minor villain, to COMPLETE and utter BS character very few people like.

The Aetherblade
So, the aetherblade appeared out of nowhere, but that was fine, they’re Sky Pirates. Pirates have been known to pop up randomly. They attacked Lions Arch, we defeated Mai, and she outright said there was someone above her. So we knew about Scarlet by Proxy. This was all actually rather fun, and totally plausible!

Queens Jubilee
This was a little far-fetched. I thought it was sorta strange that Queen Jenna just randomly, out of nowhere, got these mechanical soldiers, and not 5 minutes later, Scarlet appears and controls them.

If there was SUPPOSED to be a link between these two events, IE Scarlet is the one who sort of made the technology available for the sole purpose of taking it over later, that would have been more plausible. Instead, she just magically took control of EVERYTHING, effortlessly. That reeks of heavy-handedness on the part of lore.

Sidenote: I was on voice chat with my guild when I first saw the clockwork knights, and I kittening called that kitten. Those mecha-knight things obviously should have had an antivirus and firewall installed. How could I predict they’d get controlled, and an ENTIRE city, and it’s Leadership not know this was a bad idea? Ugh

Molten Alliance
Alright. The Flame Legion are religious fanatics. HOW would they EVER ally with anyone who DIRECTLY disagrees with their belief system??

Now if there had been a faction of Dredge, who were converted to their religion, then I can TOTALLY believe an alliance would be possible. But that isn’t the case.

And the Dredge used to be slaves, and are crazy communists. Why would they ally with someone who’s goal is to ENSLAVE everyone, via magic and religious conversion?!

And why would EITHER of them listen to Scarlet?!?!

The whole ting felt forced again. And why does Scarlet have ANY influence with the Dredge OR Flame Legion?! Now Scarlets Mary-Sue BS has gone from heavy-handed, to implausible.

Sidenote: I do appreciate the tiny, but noteworthy efforts to make the alliance appear as a fragile one, such as the dredge and flame legion arguing, calling one another incompetent, and blaming one another as they start to lose to the player characters.

Scarlets Backstory
She’s overly capable in everything she ever touches for no reason other than she . She’s smart than the Asura, better Engineers than the Charr, etc. It’s total nonsense. This just further demonstrates she’s a complete can-do-anything-mary-sue.

Toxic Alliance
I can always see the Nightmare Court working with her, due to the fact that they’re evil Sylvari, and she’s a kitten of a Sylvari…. but the Krait?! They’re xenophobic, murderous, jerkfaced maniacs with a superiority complex. Just like the flame legion and dredge, why would they EVER listen to Scarlet? Or ally with Sylvari, evil or otherwise?!

I just want different and alternate means of acquisition besides crafting and RNG drops.

I’m not speaking about the ease of acquisition, just the variety of methods.

The TL;DR version is this: Variety =/= Difficulty.

So you want them to be available for lets say:

1 Million Karma or 100 laurels or 50 Guild Commendations or 10k Badges of Honor?

Something like that could be fine.

Many people will bring up the issue of sitting on 4 billion karma (more imaginary numbers) and just buying them from the get-go. The counter argument to that is that effort and work WAS put in to earn that karma/laurels/funnymoney/whatever. BEFORE the gear was released rather than after.

An entirely new method that no one yet has access to, such as a new form of token/currency, for example, would also be decent.

For the record, Fractals did it very well with their rings: RNG chance to drop a ring in a daily chest, BUT with pristine tokens dropping so you COULD eventually afford the ring, no matter what. Luck defined the minimum (1 run), and tokens set the maximum (10 runs). That sort of a method actually makes RNG fun!

I didn’t hate Trahearne personally, but I didn’t feel particularly attached to him either. I didn’t really care about him much at all, to be honest.

Since I was a non-sylvari character, he was more or less a sidekick NPC who showed up late into the storyline, despite the fact that he was supposed to be the pact leader.

Lets be honest, we all know he was just a figurehead with a fancy sword made of celery. We made every important decision, spearheaded every critical fight, brought the 3 factions and destinys edge together, and did the highest DPS vs Zhaitan. WE are the REAL Pact leaders

Furious grants 1 adrenaline per crit, also on ALL bursts attacks :-)

So its nonsense they nerf combustive shot for its adrenaline.. (without furious it doesn’t grant any adrenaline) but now we have a horrible AoE skill.. After 10dec you do only 1 burning for 3sec.. that’s it! because nobody stays longer in you AoE for fun.. or maby some does like thiefs using evade over you AoE.. lol

So they’re nerfing Combustive shot BASELINE, to prevent it’s use with a Grandmaster trait. Yeah. Makes perfect sense to me.

On the other hand, my idea sounds even better when compared to this utter nonsense: 1 Adrenaline, regardless of # foes struck, 6 strikes per bar.
