I’ve never had major problems with the fact that Anet doesn’t stick to deadlines or doesn’t implement promised content.
The problem is that Anet leaves us all in the dark for huge periods at a time. If they just kept us updated once a month then at least we would know what we can expect in the distant future. Just keep us informed!
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I always thought that when they added new permanent maps that it would be accompanied by other new features, whether they be new weapons/dungeons/armours/level caps/items/scavenger hunts etc. etc.
Whilst I don’t see this new map as an indication of any of the above, its nice to have a bit of anticipation as to permanent content for a change.
I think new zones has been high on a lot of peoples’ ‘want lists’ so I’m sure this update is gonna make a lot of people happy.
Can’t wait to get in there!
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I like the virtue suggestion also, and how +passive virtues = +movement speed. Thats a v. nice idea.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I wish they would do this also.
My problem is that I bought Rox’s Quiver skin of the TP and later transmuted over it. I’ve wanted it back for so long now – what a mistake. I realise that they couldn’t give back normal skins but I feel like its fair to give exceptions for skins that were bought off the TP? I mean surely thats a different kettle of fish no?

I despise perma-stealth as much as the next person but an engineer-centric skill doesn’t solve anything. No professions can counter stealth so dishing out a skill add-on to engis does nothing for anyone else.
Stealth is an interesting and fun mechanic, but as it stands at the minute it is slightly ridiculous. Thieves are largely invincible, if they are losing a fight they just perma-stealth away. Thats not productive for healthy gameplay. There need to be more stringent stealth cut-backs so that perma stealth cannot be used – im thinking bigger cooldowns, certainly in WvW. Ideally, stealth is the kind of skill that is used in certain niche situations and cooldowns wouldn’t really affect that / it would stop perma stealth.
I don’t believe skills being added to detect stealth is healthy because I don’t believe anyone should be forced to carry a skill in one of their utilities purely to counter a single broken mechanic that another profession can exploit.

Weapons expanded across classes / new weapons introduced
New legendaries along with this
Precursor a) crafting and/or b) treasure hunt
I think these are things that would add a lot to the gameplay (primarily new weapons). Would give new builds / new skills and i think a lot of people want this. Precursor’s are also in high demand. Stuff like a new playable race, whilst cool, doesn’t necessarily add that much to the game (unless you require new zones etc. for them).
On a side note – am I the only one that finds Tengu a) ugly b) boring and c) kinda stupid looking, especially in any form of clothing. What is the obsession with playing them?
Quaggan however . . . give the people what they want
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Everyone knows that common preference is tengu/quaggan/skritt. But seriously, how many times do we have to put up with the exact same thread? . . . I mean come on
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
couldn’t agree more. Mac beta client users, such as myself, have had this problem for many months now. Its a loss for us on temporary items and a loss for Anet on missed revenue. Really, it should be at the top end of the priority list
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
also would like a fix. Its also frustrating that if we have a transmuted item we only unlock the skin of the stat item. Most of my unique/rare/cool skins are transmuted with better stats. This means I can add non of them to my wardrobe . . .
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
same issue here
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
same boat as everyone also
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
There has been a bug for at least 9 months now that stops you buying gems. It just comes up with a blank box. I’ve seen it reported before and nothing done about it. It seems silly because its losing Anet money and frustrating for us players. Im currently on a Mac client, not sure if that is relevant or not. Either way, Im confused why nothing has been done about this when the issue has existed for so long. Please sort it out
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Precursors are going to rise a lot due to the wardrobe allowing you to use a legendary skin multiple times. But because people can use a skin a lot, there will actually end up being less demand for precursors. Especially with the dagger, i reckon very few people would bother crafting a second legendary dagger for the marginal stat increase.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I much prefer them character-bound. I mean imagine account-bound points with scrolls of knowledge. You could have an end game character, with all their skills unlocked simply by already having a character at 80 and playing a little. Its pointless really
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I think that if you delete your character prior to the 15th then you will not have the dyes unlocked. You will have to wait for the feature pack, log onto your character and then you can delete him/her at will.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
If legendary armour is implemented it should not be crafted like legendaries are at the moment. Otherwise its just another loong grind and a very unrealistic goal. Legendary armour should be achieved through long quests and skill challenges, with each piece having its own line of quests. Then it would be legendary
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Well the good news is that I suspect the precursor problem will be fixed soon. It was stated that it was originally intended to be part of the April 15 feature pack but was delayed because of an overhaul to the rewards system. So I don’t think its unreasonable to assume that it will be implemented in the near-ish future.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
minimalistic design? The design was pre-determined by EOTN. It is a tribute to GW1 and I hope I’m not alone in appreciating its sentiment.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I do agree that I can see lighter classes having throwing spears too. The one that jumps to mind is Mesmer but that might be because of the hoards of GW1 Mesmers rocking Voltaic Spears back in the day that the image has stuck. Fingers crossed these get implemented as weapons in the first place!!
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I actually really like the HoM as an empty/semi-decrepid hall. It sort of reminds me of all the lore of GW1 and acts as a tribute to the game. I wouldn’t want it tainted with new NPCs etc. Sometimes its nice to be able to go there and remember what it was like in EOTN. Plus I enjoy the walk through the HoM to get my GW1 rewards, makes them feel more epic.
On a more practical note, there is no way Anet would ever add anything here. It is literally just a catalyst for players to gain their GW1 rewards. If they wanted more advanced home instances etc. they would make appropriate changes elsewhere. Not to mention that these changes are so insignificant that the game would have to be virtually perfect before they would even be considered (which I suspect might be a loooong way off)
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I maintain that Norn builds tend to be slightly bulkier than human builds. Only slightly granted.
Also if throwing spears were implemented I don’t see why they shouldn’t be given to heavy classes. I mean Guardians lack strong ranged attacks, I don’t think people would want another melee weapon (as cool as a halberd would be) but rather more a throwing spear. Plus Guardians are a blend of GW1 Monk/Paragon and it was the Paragons who used the throwing spears originally (and also wore heavy armor)
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
surely the norn aren’t as dextrous as humans? Bigger limbs = lex flexibility = worse throw rotation = less proficient at spear throwing?
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Hello,
My question is that, if we have an item which we since have transmuted several times, will we only get the two most recent skins unlocked with the new update?
My other question is that, even if we had transmuted an item with multiple other skins, will we still get the original skin if it was bought from the gem store?
I would quite like to retrieve Rox’s Quiver Set which I bought from the gem store. I transmuted various other back items on top of it over the course of the game. Would I get this skin unlocked because I purchased it?
Thanks
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
It means that new characters will have to earn the ability to unlock major traits through levelling and more specifically Grandmaster traits will have to be found/earnt throughout the game (or bought from trainers).
I for one would just like to voice how great these changes sound. I really think Anet has made an improvement here. Especially with the ability to alter your traits as you venture, I know thats been in demand for a long time. These changes should really help with build versatility and I hope it means we see some new builds across Tyria. As a Guardian, I really like the Force Of Will trait, Its always nice to have the option to expand the health pool. can’t wait to see what else they have in store. Kudos Anet
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Hello,
I have a quick question about the transmutation splitter. I went through a phase of using the same back item and transmuting a new skin on it when I found a new one i liked. If i were to use the transmutation splitter on my back piece (giving me one skin and the item I believe) would I then be able to use another on the subsequent item to split it again into its two parts? How many times can this be done? I’m trying to get back a skin from a few transmutations ago which I really wish I had saved.
Thanks
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
the thing that annoys me the most with Anet’s whole system is not the massive delays to content but rather the fact that we get no ETA’s. If they could just give an indication as to their target month for releasing certain features I wouldn’t care how far away it was. At least i’d know. Just a heads up for X feature being aimed to be added to the game in X month. I mean come on its not asking much
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I do love the chaos gloves but to be honest the Radiant armour skin is pretty similar (minus the colour change option)

Hello,
I’m currently looking for a new guild after my old one disbanded after inactivity. I’ve played GW2 since release and played GW1 for several years prior to that. I’m a very relaxed person, mature yet fun-loving. Ideally I’m looking for a medium sized guild. I’ve had a lot of experience with roles of management within guilds, so any guilds that want help recruiting/managing/organising members would be perfect. I’m happy to just be a regular guildy though.
Most important to me is an active core to the guild of friendly and fun-loving players. Joking around in guild chat is one of my favourite things so its nice to click with a good bunch of guildies. I’d also like there to be a focus on WvW because I enjoy the teamwork that goes into this portion of the game. I especially enjoy the later evening WvW where fewer people are online and battles are more down to skill than anything else. That being said, I do delve into all areas of the game. I main a Guardian and absolutely love the profession (incase that is of use to anyone).
I would love to hear back from any Desolation guilds that might be able to offer me something along these lines, I’m looking for a guild to fully dedicate myself to and call home (yay for cliche’s) so I hope this yields some results.
All the best,
D

You can’t expect everyone to be at a capable skills level, the game consists of all standards of play. Open world events should therefore not require too much skill (and they often don’t). What they need to add is HARD and CHALLENGING content that does require a lot of skill but also gives some top end and exclusive rewards. That way people will want to improve to access these rewards. Sort of like high-level fractals. Without skill you don’t last long there
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
The easiest way to level is by doing the Hearts / Events in each zone. Honestly its a million times quicker than doing dungeon runs. I play casually and when I was levelling my main it was 5-10 levels a day easyy just doing that
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Guardian. Useful in every game mode. Always reliable, great survivability. Warrior may be OPed at the moment but the profession fluctuates between being OPed and getting nerfed into the ground every few months. Guardians are the most stable profession in terms of updates and are consistently one of the best in the game
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Guardian. Useful in PvE, PvP, sPvP, WvW. Different play-style to necro so definitely new and enjoyable too. Great survivability. A good Guardian is an asset everywhere in the game. Also you know that the profession isn’t going to get nerfed into the ground
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I have stacks of the stuff just from WvW. If you have a decent server and play at a busy time you can pretty much zerg train that stuff out easily
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I would not suggest a Ranger or Necro. That aren’t in high demand in many parts of the game because as professions they need improvement. Ranger in particular needs the most work. Warrior is a strong profession but also fluctuates a lot between being OPed and getting nerfed.
I suggest a Guardian. Firstly, Guardians are sought after in every bit of the game, from PvE to sPvP to WvW. They are a versatile profession. They are also great as a first character because they have (arguably) the most survivability in the game. It means you can get some slack if you make a few mistakes your first time round. Also don’t listen to people who say playing a Guardian is boring, I find it to be a very dynamic profession. Once you get the gist of it (which is easy I admit) you can play around with it in so many different ways.
Ultimately I suggest rolling a character for each profession and trying them out in PvP to get a feel for them. Then pursue the profession you enjoy most. At the end of the day thats the important thing and I don’t think you should set yourself on any profession without testing out others.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
You want everyone to have equal levels for each zone – is that not exactly what level scaling achieves? You say living story and events start at level 80 – umm no they start at level 1. And the first dungeon is available from 30. I disagree that this game starts at 80. That being said, leveling is not scaling so its easy to hit 80 within a reasonable amount of time
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Guardian’s low health pool is countered by high levels of damage mitigation. That is why I believe that Guardian’s are far more viable at surviving high end encounters than Warriors.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Guardian dungeon builds tend to focus more on damage mitigation & protection rather than pure heals. This might explain why your Warrior out-heals your Guardian. Perhaps it is worth looking over your current dungeon build again to see how it can be optimised with changes since you last played your Guardian. A lot of the reason why Guardians are sought after in Dungeons is because they have a good set of utilities, good group damage mitigation and high survivability.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
My advice is to make a character of every profession and go PvP with them. That way you can try out all their skills and traits to get a feel of the gameplay.
From your description I would have suggested Guardian as it is easy to solo with but also valued in every aspect of the game. Though i do appreciate that it may not be the most conceptually original design. Don’t think of the guardian as the paladin-type though, there are some really great utilities at your disposal as a class and I wonder if you were able to appreciate them all if you stopped at 25. Anet is also planning to expand the use of all weapons to all classes (though who knows when). This means that the Guardian will have lots of different gameplay options open to the class – on top of the versatility that it has at the moment. It is also the most stable class in the game, whereas the Warrior, for example, often fluctuates between being OPed and getting nerfed. There is also a spirit weapons buff coming up (supposedly) in a patch soon. This is a similar gameplay mechanic to engineers and may be fun to play around with (though probably still not viable just yet).
But remember – all professions can do everything equally once you hit 80 (supposedly). So just play what you enjoy the most

yeh change combat mechanics, add new skills, release massive new content and add new playable race. Don’t ask too much or anything.
Under water combat doesn’t need as much tweaking as other areas do. Plus im not sure how an additional dragon and a new race would give underwater combat any kind of boost? they wouldn’t affect it in any way.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Im on Desolation and its a brilliant server. Pretty much everyone speaks English, and I enjoy a mix of languages every now and then. Im from the UK too and love the server. Great WvW presence also.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Sort of sounds like the melee elementalist.
Its a big ask for them to give us 3x as many skills for each weapon set . . . a big, big ask.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I would argue that Guardians are the best profession in this game because they are useful in every game mode. I found levelling easy in PvE as a Guardian because you can get some decent damage out and its very hard to get downed. I used to just use GS5, pull a bunch of foes in and then whirl like mad and destroy them all pretty quickly. Its easymode tbh.
In WvW the support a Guardian can bring is brilliant and that is why a lot of commanders are Guardians (coupled with their great withstandability). Guardians can also make decent roamers and have some nifty utilities for group play.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I have Genesis and honestly think it is the best looking hammer in GW2. The colours fit the Guardian ethos much better than Entropy IMO. Its a shame that the legendary hammer doesn’t even look like hammer but more like a staff . . . missed a chance to do something really exceptional there.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
If they were intended to be entirely about the skin I would have assumed they would be a skin rather than an actual armour piece. Still It doesn’t really matter that much, transmuting them is so easy to do its hardly a big problem, albeit I agree with the OP.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I love how Guild Wars, as a franchise, has managed to materialise so many completely unique races. I mean how many other games stick to the same old formula of humans/elves etc. etc. GW & GW2 has really done some unique stuff so kudos to the design team on that front. The Sylvari in particular are a really unique concept and although, yes some parallels might be drawn to elves, they are very different and a really great idea. So yeah, nice one
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
hahaha spirit weapons suck now? They have sucked from the word go. They have never been a viable build for a Guardian in any situation. Proof? No one uses them . . . Fortunately I believe I read that Anet are addressing this in the upcoming patch. Fingers crossed anyway, would be a nice mechanic to play around with if they were viable
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I disagree entirely that people join a zerg because they want to. people join zergs because its easy loot bags and keep farming. Why would you sit there with a small team of people hacking away at a door while there is a zerg knocking one down next to you every few minutes. People won’t spite themselves because they want to be in a small group, the loot of zergs is too tempting. However if zergs were not viable, I genuinely believe people would much rather play in groups of 15-20 rather than 50+
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I don’t believe that giving Lords different mechanics will do much. Zergs take out most Lords pretty quick regardless of how unique or different they are.
Overview:
More chokepoints and unique terrain for combat. EOTM has a great set of terrain and I’ve found myself having some of my most enjoyable WvW fights there because of the impact this has.
Goal:
- Combat the zerg-train. Most notable, in EOTM, a smaller group of players is able to at least hold of a zerg for a while at certain chokepoints in the map. This really helps balance out the combating sides because a lot of the power of a zerg comes from fast, uninhibited movement from A to B. EOTM is very successful at limiting this, so it would be nice to see it implemented in other maps somehow.
-Less monotonous play. It can be a little dull running from A to B in EB for example. EOTM has such an interesting map to it that I genuinely enjoy getting around the map and it is less of a simple time consuming hobby to return to the commander.
Functionality:
This proposal would probably consist of marginal alterations to existing WvW maps. Although the maps are good, they inevitably would need a small change to accommodate this suggestion.
Associated Risks:
I honestly see very few here, other than the risk of damaging successful maps if not done effectively.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
that is a valid point. But if the debuff were to scale then i think a lot of this could be avoided. Also if the scaling was not linear (i.e. it only scaled very slightly when you have a few people over the limit and only becomes severe once you have a big mob going on). I think if it is done correctly it can mean that +1 person is always better than the slight increase to the debuff they would bring and that would avoid griefing. Though I do agree it is an issue
