I would love fractal relics to be part of a reward track. That way people can work towards the backskin in PvP.
I think the weapon skins should remain fractal-only drops however.

The best PvP MMORPGs?
GW1 then Gw2.
Gw1 PvP was always better because Gw1 had amazing build diversity and customisation. It meant that PvP was genuinely interest and different a lot of the time. Gw2 PvP lacks because people pretty much run the same one or two builds per profession and if they don’t then they are almost guaranteed to fail hard.
Gw2 still has the best PvP at the moment. That is because PvP is a big part of the game and other MMORPGs don’t have the same focus.I think too many people rage on these forums,
more importantly I don’t think its appropriate to ask for other games to play on these forums either – its disrespectful imo
i am a gw1 and gw2 veteran and i reserve my right to be disrespectful when my concerns regarding pvp are not being addressed. the fact that my concerns are not being addressed and i paid money for the game can also be considered disrespectful and inappropriate. as you said, gw1/2 is (sadly) the best thing out there when it comes to pvp based mmorpg at this point in time, can you think of a better community to offer me input on pvp based mmorpg?
Constructive criticism is useful. But I maintain that it is disrespectful to ask for other game suggestions on gw2 forums.
Anet takes their time, we all know that. But I do believe they will address this issue eventually. There are tonnes of threads on it after all.
Its not that I disagree with your points though.

I play medi guard and I find that 1v1 I beat hambow wars most of the time (and I consider myself a fairly average PvPer – not hardcore by any means). Medi guard can get the bursts in before hambow wars really have the time to be fatal.
That being said, I get trounced by celementalists

match scores should never affect the leaderboards because match scores to not accurately represent contribution. It would just end up with people focusing on points rather than winning the game

I bought it once, skinned over it by mistake, waiting forever hoping it would return and then was on holiday abroad when it did, so i missed it. I would loooove for it to come back again

I suspect you may have come across a warrior. They have a downed state skill where they can return to full life for a short period of time. After a while they die again unless they kill a foe in which case they fully res.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I like the downed state but there does need to be more balance.
As someone said, mist form for eles is really frustrating in WvW. Thieves and their silly stealthing is also really frustrating and imo useless.
Give guardians something actually useful

Well if no one stayed to cap it then the team would not get any points and lose, thus everyone missing out on the rewards for winning. People may be reluctant to be the one staying but they will still do it.
Perhaps points for staying to cap 25% of it.

I doubt you will ever find anyone. Traders only make money by exploiting niches in the market. If they told people then they would no longer be able to make money.
My advice is this:
Buy up unique festival skins during festivals whilst they are cheap (say 10-20g) then wait several months. They rocket upwards and you can sell for profit.
I still have some dragon wing covers which were 5g at one point and are now almost at 150g. Its a long term investment but it pays off without you having to actually do any work

If there were modern pistols then there would be modern firearms such as machine guns which would look ridiculous and make GW2 look like an FPS
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/2/2d/Guild_Quick_Shot.jpg
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/6/67/Pact_Handgun.jpgSo apparently these pistols have already tainted the sovereignty of the holy grounds.
And you are saying that if modern pistol skins would be added, that every single person would use them and every single person would instantly play Mesmer/Engi/Thief ? And if everyone would immediatly use that skins it would mean that everyone actually wanted it, right?
I don’t know how you managed to invent that I said anything along those lines. I didn’t even reference who would use them or anything to do with classes so I think you should probably re-evaluate your point there.
My point is that contemporary weapon skins ruin the immersion of the game. Much the same like the explorer outfit that was added to the gemstone. Gw2 is not a medieval game, true, but i’m pretty sure you don’t feel very immersed holding a sceptre when there is a thief next to you dual-wielding Colts.
There are some more modern skins and to be quite honest I think they tow the line a little between being damaging to immersion.
Rifles etc. are okay because they were around when swords etc. were still being used. But very modern guns just make everything else feel dated.

New profession is probably the only thing. Maybe a new race, but it would probably only keep me entertained for the first few levels.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Well other than the fact that its a lot of work I agree with what your saying.
It would be great to have more lore behind the weapons. The only legendary at the moment with some really interesting background info is the flame seeker prophecies, i’d love more.
I’m also not a big fan of a lot of legendaries. For example, Bolt. It looks like a cheap boring vine and the lightning effects look tacky. An alternative legendary sword would be nice because I want a legendary but I simply don’t like most of them.
I don’t think the quests should only unlock after you have the third legendary. I think they should unlock after your first and then you follow them to understand why you have to unite your legendary with another. Alternatively maybe have no restrictions on them as I’d like to find out more about legendaries without having to craft every one

1) Guardians. Why? Because I am one! 2 Guardians in a team is far from ideal, more so than other classes. I don’t run bunker but I find many bunker Guardians actually aren’t much use and are a wasted slot. Medi Guards are fine.
2) Thieves. Mostly because thieves dance around so much in stealth that they are rather useless at contesting points. Whenever I’m on a point and a thief rocks up I know that I can finish capping it no problem because every time I just get the thief down to low health and they run off in stealth for a while. Its a gift really.
3) Mesmers. I think mesmers can be great in spvp but half the time its just someone who is trying a new build or can’t really play properly.
4) Rangers. They never seem to actively contest or cap points because they are always trying to snipe people in the field.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I get this a fair amount. I’ll press a skill and it will show that it has been pressed by flashing but it will not execute. It is all due to lag or poor connection spikes

Hello,
One of the most frustrating things in PvP is seeing 3 of your team waiting around to cap a point with no opponents about all so that they can get a meaningless 10 points on the scoreboard.
I think that you should be awarded the 10 points just for passing through a point as it is being capped (awarded when the cap is complete). This way people won’t be loitering about and be detrimental to your team for the sake of, well, i don’t even know what.
Thoughts?
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Guardian is great for WvW due to its support and multi-tagging staff auto-attack. It is also a good bet in PvE as it brings a lot of support to dungeons and fractals. The only PvE where it isn’t preferred tends to be in very elite zerker runs. I’d say Guardian is weakest in PvP but is still viable. I personally have a fair bit of success running meditation guardian builds in PvP. Bunkers are also pretty decent but very few high end PvP teams use Guardians.
Warriors are viable in all three modes but from my experience and from what others have said, they get a bit boring. You may well find yourself pigeon holed into a zerker build for most content.
Personally I think Guardian is most rewarding because you’ll almost always be the last one alive
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
The mystic forge will probably drive you crazy, so I would suggest saving up money.
That being said, if you were gonna MF for any precursor it would be the legend because it is so overwhelmingly expensive – possibly the most expensive item in the game other than pre-built legendaries and perhaps 1 or 2 very rare festive skins

The Honour Of The Waves set is a nice looking ‘battle mage’ set.
If you are willing too, you might be able to simply find a nice outfit on the gemstone that looks like ‘battle mage’ armour – theres a few that are quite good (though may not be available at the moment – e.g. Mad King Thorn Outfit)

Some people say some pretty disgusting things. The guy who said these things should get some serious penalties. Its one thing to trash talk a player buts its completely different when you start saying deeply offensive and sickening remarks.
I’d hope Anet takes strong action against this person. I am a great supporter of Anet, though it is a shame that the OP has been led to feel like he can only find justice & answers on the forums.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Go for the legendary first, then you can buy the other skins gradually as something else to work towards post-legendary. It will also be nicer as they are much cheaper and provide nicer milestones once you get the big legendary out the way
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
If you’re looking for loot then don’t look at WvW.
But don’t disregard it because of that. Whilst it is probably the least rewarding portion of the game, it is also one of the most fun. Its very beginner friendly, as long as you have a lv80 toon. Just join EB or a BL in prime time and zerg with the commander until you get the hang of things. Alternatively practice a bit on EOTM.
WvW isn’t so much PvP because there is a lot more focus on team play, support builds, tactics and less of a simple 1v1 slaughter match.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Can’t play Charr characters. I find them way too ugly / hunchback. Also not a massive Norn fan, they always seem to just look like fat humans, especially when they play non melee classes. In fact I also hate seeing Norn players because they make my human feel like a midget.
In terms of classes, I find thieves rather dull (might surprise a lot of people). Maybe its just because I’m sick of fighting perm stealth thieves and I have no desire to adopt the play style myself either.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Just as an FYI this happened on the Spirit Watch map, without the 150 NPC or Temple buff. I forgot to mention the map earlier. I am aware these events can happen on other maps. They both happened in the same match.

1) No subscription.
It actually gives you a more relaxed play style because you don’t feel obliged to milk the game for all its worth and you can really take your time to enjoy it. Its casual-friendly.
2) WvWvW
Basically no other game offers this kind of large-scale PvP. Yes, it has its problems, but its a pretty remarkable concept when you think about it and I remember it being one of the things that lured me in after gw1
3) Mature Community
The gw2 community for the most part is refreshingly mature. Compared to other MMOs it has a much higher proportion of friendly and mature players, such a relief!!

‘THE expansion’ – as if its something that exists?
Anet has never even hinted towards any kind of expansion. More importantly I think all this living story content is evidence that they are not focusing on an expansion at the moment. I think people need to stop with the expansion hype.

I have to ask . . .
What exactly do you expect from this?
sympathy? an apology?
Theres nothing new in what you’ve said.
People seem to be getting in the trend of starting their own threads with lists of things they don’t like as if that is constructive to the game or community. Whilst criticism is useful, a subjective list of already known topics is not. There needs to be less negativity on the forum and this starts with less people posting these sorts of things. No offence, but its a waste of a thread

Today I was in an sPvP match and two weird things happened. Firstly the opponents randomly jumped up 150 points and secondly, when we had 2 out of 3 points, suddenly they controlled all three. I know they didn’t cap them because I was standing at one which we were in control of and there was no one else there and it suddenly was ‘capped’.
I guess I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before? I can only assume it was some form of glitch or hack because it broke pretty much every match mechanic.
I know hackers can be found in WvW (not that I’ve ever seen one) but do they exist in sPvP too?
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Hello,
Perhaps one of the greatest issues facing PvP at the moment is the fact that at least 50% of matches seem to end up being 5v4 or worse. Player attrition means that its pretty hard to find a decent and well balanced game.
I would like to suggest a fix to this.
Consider a buff when a team player leaves the team (increasing as more people leave).
The buff has to be strong because it has to accommodate for a missing player. Something along the lines of:
+10% dmg
+10% dmg protection
-20% cap time
This is just a suggestion really.
I really enjoy pvp its just frustrating that I always seem to be on a team where one person leaves. Even worse when you start out with 4 and you know there is probably little point anyway. This is especially true for ranked PvP.
I’m sure this issue has been raised in other threads, but i haven’t seen a buff suggestion anywhere?
I think its a solution which would save Anet any kind of overhaul and at least provide a temporary fix for what is a very prevalent problem
thoughts welcome

OP if you are looking for strong ranged weapons and good immob/CC then Guardian is not the one. Whilst a great class, those are the two things it is really lacking in
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I did see this ‘view a vista’ daily today and It made me laugh as well. I have no problems with it, it just seemed like a freebie. I think it is worth remembering that dailies are meant to be quite simple tasks for a simple reward – they are not really designed to be challenging. Also bear in mind that they have to accommodate for all player levels; whilst many my mock the vista daily, for new players it is an acceptable goal.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I agree with what you’re saying, but its worth noting that it would not be possible to sell more than one item on the TP at the same time because they have different variables i.e. different prices / quantities etc.
Also salvage kits you only have to double click once and then you can salvage until its run out

Thanks for the builds guys,
shame about the shield. IMO they could fix it by simply giving it a big armour boost. They don’t even need to necessarily change the skills. Realistically, a shield is gonna give you a big defensive boost anyway (and at the minute its pretty minimal).

The boot box is a drop that gives you the skin from the personal story. Its rare as it is only meant to be a unique skin (not necessarily a powerful piece of equipment).
From what I believe, the recipe drops are pretty common.
The canyon is sort of like a duelling area – I haven’t paid to go in but I personally don’t believe its anything to lose sleep over.

The shield needs serious work. I’m especially disappointed with i at the moment because I main a guard and I really want to craft the flame seeker prophecies. The only problem would be that then I would have an essentially redundant legendary. I can only afford one
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
1-400 for EVERY craft will be expensive. Clearly you want to level quickly though. My advice is to level some of the cheaper crafts – they give just as much exp as the more expensive ones but won’t cost you a tonne. Look into things such as cooking rather than things like weaponsmithing. I’d suggest crafting the 4 cheapest crafts and getting yourself to level 40. Then run EOTM for the rest – otherwise you’ll end up with a massive gold sink

Sometimes I hope they bring back more gem store stuff so we get to chance to buy things we missed and then other times I hope they don’t come back to add some exclusivity.
I bought Rox’s quiver when it first came out. I then skinned over it only to later find out I really missed the skin. The weeks when it briefly came back on sale I was on holiday and missed my chance to get it again.
