If there was a new area I would like a few hearts. What I think they should do is avoid having, say, 18 easy missions and instead have 4 or 5 hearts that take skill to complete and are quite challenging. That way, new missions are not a grind or a bore but are interesting gameplay. It would also add a bit more recognition to the 100% map completion

Devs certainly know more than your standard player. Yes, they develop the game but many of them play it both in a professional and personal capacity. They usually have multiple accounts, some for private enjoyment of the game and others for their work as in-game GMs.
The only people i’d say who could contest the knowledge of the Devs might be truly hardcore players but even then its hard to top the knowledge of those that built the game

I know the particular vista your referring to. My advice is to stand on the inner of the spokes sticking out and jump towards the outer side of the next one. For some reason this always worked for me – that vista is certainly one of the more frustrating ones though.

I like the idea of a rank requirement but I think 600 is a bit excessive. This is because commander tags are currently adapted to represent roles such as scouts & guild raids. With a 600 rank requirement I think you would be pushing a lot of people out of scout roles and making it more difficult for guilds. Maybe something more simple like rank 200, just to demonstrate a basic understanding of WvW at least. Also these sorts of things are virtually impossible to implement retrospectively

I miss guild halls. It really adds a sense of community to a guild.
I dream of a guild hall kitted out with all the amenities like merchants/forge/bank/BLT etc etc (I’m assuming something you upgrade)

Block them both in-game and on Facebook. If it persists then simply tell them you will contact the police. If it continues after that then do so.
Cyber law is pretty stringent these days, if they have the balls to keep harassing you then they won’t last very long.
Really its up to you to survey the severity.

I really like this idea. Although I never achieved it, GWAMM was something nice to work towards that really tied in your title achievements. I don’t entirely agree with your difficulty categorisations (though I appreciate they are more demonstrative than anything else).
I also like the colour idea. I think its important to be able to make these titles stand out because GW2 has so many more titles than GW1 ever had.
The real difficulty is finding titles that are epic enough to compete with the Anchorman quotes of GW1 . . .

I’m on Desolation and as a server we have a pretty good WvW community. There are plenty of WvW guilds, including more hardcore ones if thats what you’re into. I wouldn’t suggest you switch as Deso is a good EU server imo

I was impressed with the quick turn around from suggestion to implementation . . but it does make you wonder why everything else takes so long?
This “everything else” you are saying is maybe harder to implement?
By ‘everything else’ I was referring more to the many small fixes that people have requested, not any major content. I fully appreciate that that does indeed take longer.
Kudos to Anet for this though

I am so glad you posted this because I was actually on my way here to do the exact same thing.
Everytime I use LFG it refreshes so quickly I can barely read a group description.
The refresh rate doesn’t need to change though, just the refreshing animation. Instead of disappearing and re-appearing again it should simply fade into an update.
As it stands at the minute it even hurts my eyes a bit. Its impossible to keep track.
Please please please Anet take a look at this.

If you are good at them you can run through like 12 of the short ones in under 30 minutes. Its not as much about difficulty as it is about time
The complicated ones (like the new one) this would work for since they can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, so it would be nice to see some rewards for those.
Either I’m playing a different game or you are one talented player. 12 JP in < 30mins? Thats basically 2 minutes a puzzle? That seems pretty darn quick – maybe i just take my time idn

Well if your unsure I’d play it safe and go for human, you may not love them but you won’t ever hate them. Sometimes Norn toons can feel too bulky when playing but diversity is always appreciated in the world. As it was said before me, its personal preference. Perhaps consider what other professions you will want to play in the future and if one of them would be particularly good as a human / norn then pick the other now.

Whilst I think this idea is way to impractical to ever be implemented – and would leave uw combat in a rather unfortunate spot – I would give anything for a spear guard, so i’m down

I wouldn’t advise transferring to top tier servers. I am in a T1 EU server and it is mostly mega-zerg v mega-zerg and long queues. I’d pick a mid level server because waiting for an hour and a half + to just get into WvW is really pretty dull. Then you finally get in, DC after 5 minutes and back in the queue you go. Plus top tier servers don’t have as much roaming, people stick to zeros a lot (though it does still exist). My favourite parts of WvW are when its quieter and you have to work harder with smaller groups, top tiers are too saturated. Then again I’d never move because I feel a loyalty to my server and have worked to help us win for a long time
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I think its reasonable to ask for wider variety, not necessarily better gifts. I mean after you receive the same thing on multiple characters it mostly loses its value. Of course not everyone has that many characters but most people have a few that are pretty old now. I would like to see things like the Experience Scroll being exchanged for, say, 5 x Tome of Knowledge.
In GW1 there was a massive part of the economy based on birthday minis. I remember that each year, around the same time, there would be another wave of minis for the oldest players. I think this should be re-introduced. I think that each year should have its own range and you get a random chance of receiving say 1 out of 5 minis. Might add a nice dimension to the market and I know that its nice for older players to be able to show off that they’ve been there since launch

Thief is always pretty deadly when roaming in WvW, perhaps finish levelling your thief and trying that?
Maybe roll with warrior or guard and try commanding in WvW, probably just small groups at first but it can be really enjoyable
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I’ve always found that when I level I need to use various zones of the same level. Really, completing the quests in a zone should get you to the right level for the next area but truth be told if you focus on the quests (even with some events thrown in) you will always be a few levels lower than what you want. I suggest doing 2 zones at once, that way you tend to be above the level of what you need and you get more diversity
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I’m on Desolation too and don’t have much trouble roaming.
My best experiences have always been on opponent’s BLs because theres usually fewer zergs than EB and you never have to travel far for a fight.
I think your probably playing at the busiest hours as well, roaming tends to happen when its not at peak times.
I usually roam with a small group of around 3 people and the challenge of taking towers is really enjoyable for me. 3 v 3 fights are just the best
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
phew, glad those disablers have been sorted out a bit – who knows we may need even more nerfing though
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Its a nice idea but truth be told you can pick up the weapon you want straight from the TP or likely from a drop within a few levels. Seasoned players know this and new players don’t need to know it straight away.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
If you are PvE levelling the old-school way then I wouldn’t bother using the staff. I’d always run with GS/Hammer & S/F so that you can use more DPS burst on mobs. Guardian staff is really reserved for support roles or WvW zerg – doesn’t add all that more to soloing

Genuinely thought OP was a troll.
I do agree that there is a lack of giant castles etc.
I love MMOs where the towns are really fun to explore and they feel epic, like huge bastions of peace. GW2 towns are sort of like “use amenities, loiter, leave” in all of 1% of the map
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
From what I’ve understood, there isn’t really a traditional ‘aggro’ mechanic, which is why it is basically impossible to tank in GW2. With regards to some of your examples, SW does have a lot of mobs moving about frequently, it could be they were just en-route across the map and happened across you (they are quite aggressive mobs in SW).
I would be interested to know more bout the ‘aggro’ mechanics in place though – I suspect it is a case of dmg caused = ‘aggro’ created.
(I’ve also noticed sometimes that there are just some creatures with a grudge against my character, who stick with me regardless of someone else attacking them and me doing nothing)
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
GW2 isn’t without its flaws but its important to remember that improvements are on-going and, with new mega-servers, it certainly feels more alive than ever.
I wouldn’t say there is that much difference in raw content between now and a year ago though

I remember many years ago, when I used to play WoW. The maps there were huge. You would spend a good 20minutes, maybe even more, just to get to your destination. This is partly because of no WPs but more importantly they just had bigger zones. GW2 maps feel quite condensed and whilst some areas of Tyria may consist of 3 or 4 zones, they still feel small. I would love for there to be a map with just one WP near the start and you have to go and explore it, with there being a focus on amazing landscapes, maybe some JPs and a boss here and there.

Glaustian
They were born from the essence of Glint when she was killed.
They are largely humanoid in form but have crystalline scars over their skin and glowing eyes. Their bodies have slight deformities in the shape of crystal structures but these vary from Glaustian to Glaustian. They each have a small part of Glint within them and this gives them their life force.
Their cultural home would be in the Crystal Desert. I envisage an underground crystalline cave, much like glints lair except less bright and colourful. Their structures made from rock and crystal hybrid. At the centre would lie a giant crystal formation where Glaustians would meet and make important decisions for their race. Here’s the problem with that, glint wasnt an elder dragon, she was a champion of Kralkatorrik, which means that she did not have the same power to give life to minions as an elder dragon does.
As another poster has already said, Glint was on her way to becoming an elder dragon so clearly possessed some strong powers. I think that a spike in her powers upon her death would probably be enough to momentarily generate enough energy to give life (/‘corrupt’) a race of beings, even though she wasn’t a fully fledged elder dragon yet.
Also as Glint had powers over the mind it could be that rather than having enough power to give life to a new race, she was simply able to impose her mark upon the minds of those already born – thus more of a positive corruption than birth of new race.
(edit)
P.S thanks all for the kind feedback on the original suggestion

1. Agreed. Skill 3 does some great damage but half of it never hits unless your opponent sits there politely.
2. The sceptre is only every valued because it has the immob and is the only way a guard can hit from range (especially with such bad mobility). What we really need is to be allowed to use Longbows with some good CC skills. That way we can actually have a viable range option. I find it hilarious how we can barely function at range yet aren’t given nearly enough skills to close distances and find short-ranged either? ironic really
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Sounds like a bit of a joke. But there may be room to create “reinforcements” for under-represented sides. That way all sides will have relatively similar numbers (though obviously these NPC reinforcements wouldn’t be overwhelmingly good)

I saw someone get a precursor for Kudzu the other day in WvW, first time I have ever seen it. Remarkably, I think it was from another player kill (imagine being the player that gives someone a precursor :P).
I’m pretty sure you can get them from the rank chests as well, not sure about Lords.
Its painfully rare though (then again I guess it is everywhere). The problem is that WvW has very few rewards. The only constant rewards are greens from taking towers/keeps and the very occasional rare or exotic from rank chests.
I would never play WvW with the expectation of ever seeing a precursor.

many years ago i also played WoW and, like you, rolled a resto druid.
In GW2 I think you’ll find your class in the Guardian. Its got good survivability & support mechanics. If you prefer support roles then it is a clear choice.
Everyone is focusing on how GW2 has no healing trinity. That means that no one is pigeon-holed into DPS/healing/tank BUT it doesn’t mean that you can’t fulfil support roles so I’m not sure why everyone is making such a fuss about that.
Support in GW2 is equivalent to healing in WoW you just get to DPS as well and theres less reliance on you to look after the group as a whole.
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I have to be honest, I am against a solo mode.
I think the whole point of dungeons is to provide content that requires group co-ordination and presents a challenge.
Solo modes would just divide the player-base.
My advice would be to just watch any cut-scenes you miss on youtube, it doesn’t really detract anything from the dungeon if you watch them before / after

A lot of people seem to think that GW2 is PvE focused. I have to disagree. There is a lot more PvE in GW2 than in GW1 because the game had to appeal to more people. However I think the franchise has always had a strong PvP base. Just look at the quick levelling (especially compared to other games) and easily achievable max gear. PvE is interesting content but I feel the whole game is built with PvP in mind.
The problem is that the end-game of gw2 is largely non-existent. End-game PvE renders essentially zero reward. The fun side is PvP and WvWvW. The problem with WvWvW is that it simply is not rewarding enough for the time spent in there. I, like many other players, still player it for fun but constant zerg-friendly mechanisms take a lot of the challenge out of it. There need to be 1) more rewards 2) fewer zerg-encouraging mechanics & 3) rewards for non-capping (other objectives)

1) better rewards
2) anti-zerg mechanisms
3) more rewards for non-capping activities such as: siege building, scouting, defending

Its annoying, granted, but I would be surprised if it is a bannable offence. It would be very hard to prove a troll from an “accidental” mistake.

you would think the most guardian-related weapon conceivable would be one of the stronger ones for the profession. There needs to be some serious love given to the shield
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
Siege disablers add another dimension to taking a tower but the duration needs to be reduced. Whilst the new tactics are fun, it really is – above all else – boring having to wait to use your siege again. I also agree with the fact that it is far more zerg-friendly and discriminates against smaller groups who actually have to work to get enough sups to build siege
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
I’m interested to see people’s views on this.
Often in WvW there can be quite a low ratio of time spent vs towers / camps / keeps etc captured. This can make WvW somewhat unrewarding with regards to the time spent in there when compared to other gameplay. This is especially true if you choose the role of, say, a scout or are refreshing siege etc. – all things that contribute to your world’s success but reap little personal benefit.
Whilst world experience does provide a nice boost, the rewards are hardly proportional to the time spent getting them.
Let me just clarify now that this is not a moan about WvW being unrewarding but merely a statement about the ratio of time vs reward.
My question really is whether people would want to see some kind of timer in WvW that would give you rewards / exp in small doses for the time you spend in there. The timer would only be active if you had capped something / used some siege etc. within a certain amount of time to stop exploiters just sitting about. My thoughts were that it might make WvW time a bit more rewarding, especially when you aren’t zerging.
Do you think WvW needs a better reward system?
(Either way I think it is the most fun game mode and play it for that reason above all else)
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
It took me a while to do all the borderlands. I relied on rotations.
My advice would be to simply get all the POIs & vistas of your keep and nearest garrisons each time you rotate. Its always the middle ground which is trickiest to get. Just log in either at prime hours when your world is most active and most likely to attempt to cap locations or, alternatively, I logged at 3am a few times just to see what was available. If you log on in the early hours, even for an hour, you might be able to join some night cappers and grab what you need. GL

Guard can do 15 without any enemies easy
Guardian / WvW Enthusiast
This is what I have wanted the most ever since they first announced they were planning it around a year ago. My main is a Guard and I find that already (compared to other professions) there is quite a limited selection of weapons available, even more so when you think that some of them are largely ineffective.
Guardians NEED some effective ranged weapons. The sceptre is just not viable as a weapon, it can only really supplement a good melee weapon. We need a ranged weapon that can hold its own. This is especially true as a WvW player, we pretty much have to zerg or get kited with our mobility rates
