Well at first I was into it and now I’m not as much.
1. I too misread as turrets being able to crit. While this would be really dangerous for PvP, the effects on PvE could be quite positive.
If turrets could crit, not only would there be a viable non-hobosack build, but the game will have FINALLY received a potentially viable a gun class. (Pistol thieves and rifle warriors are often frowned upon, mesmer and engi hardly use their guns compared to their other functions.)
2. Making the turrets take condi damage in PvP, sure. I like this one. I couldn’t touch them with my necro. Making them take condi damage in PvE might be another nail in their coffin.
3. I’m on the fence about them receiving crit damage. I don’t have a hard time blowing them up on staff ele or zerker ranger. They are just going to get easier. Another potential nail in the coffin for PvE.
That’s my prediction/input.
I’m super happy, devs, that you came to us first about this though. Maybe we can get something worked out.
They are throwing cool stuff at us rapidly in hopes that we’ll forget about bunny ears, aviators and wide rim glasses.
:D
(For some reason.)
To clarify the way the policy works (if I remember correctly):
1. You can report people for kicking you unjustly from any group. Selling a path would not add or subtract any urgency to the situation.
2. On the flip side, you can be reported for scamming your clients and not finishing the path after you’ve been paid. In other words, while path selling isn’t “supported” by ArenaNet, it does not make anyone immune to the rules against scamming.
3. No compensation or refunds will be issued on either side.
As much as I haven’t had as much trouble coming up with unique un-taken names.
I still think suggestions A and B are very solid and should be done.
Maybe under the right circumstances you can manage to get:
- Content Guide
- PvP Tournament
- Personal Story
- Halloween Info
- Expansion Story
- Daily Achievements
- Meta Event (which clips the bottom of daily achievements)
- Nearby Events
all at once!
Seeing as how people have wanted this as an emote since beta I think this should deviate from the bobblehead functionality.
Instead I think it should transform only the people who touched it. Others will see it regardless of if they touched it or not.
The goal is that we can run around like an airplane when we want, not that we just see airplanes.
Emote-like.
Honestly I don’t even want the post processing effects.
I just want to run around with my arms out and not be the only one who sees it.
I was looking forward to this item, but I can’t get it until I know this is going to be fixed.
If this is a bug: That’s fine.
If this is intentional because some of the community did not have a sense of humor during April 1st: I would be sad.
It looks like some sort of feature built into the game’s text management leaked through.
I’ve always assumed that dodging is equal to non-combat + swiftness. Doing a dodgeroll jump will not make you move farther if you are already out of combat and have swiftness.
Two things:
1. Some Logitech mice (like the G500) have a bad habit of developing a “double click” issue. For some people it’s static electricity related and you have to put something over the micro-circuit. Otherwise, open up your mouse and see if the plastic contact for the clicker has a little clicker shaped indention in it. Put some clear tape over it for a temporary fix or coat it in an epoxy for a more permanent fix. Or you can contact Logitech, they tend to be pretty cool about sending replacements from what I hear.
2. I think the OP, without saying it, is suggesting they look into adding a different way to control mouse look (such as a toggle, center screen reticule, anything.) I’d have no problem with that. Not sure if I’d use it, but it would be great to see.
Yep I agree.
I’m working with my ISP for a fix now, but I’ve had a few D/Cs in the past few months that had my monitor happy there wasn’t a crowbar nearby.
Sure VW is only about 2-3 rares, but it sure isn’t great getting nothing from it because of a 2 second connection drop after 45 mins of helping the defense/breach.
Sadly, last time we had a thread about this, a number of posters had the idea that it was our own faults we were disconnecting.
It’s a thing that happens, people!
Is it really necessary to constantly move your camera?
Obviously, you need to sometimes, but constantly?
It is, actually. Being aware of your surroundings is not only necessary competitively, it’s also quite freeing and immersive for exploration.
Thieves can PvE just fine.
Silverwastes is good practice. The mobs are more challenging so you can practice improving your dodge/stealth survivability.
Make sure you’re working toward getting geared up. If you want to be a damage dealer you can start out with a more tanky Soldier stat gear (Power, Toughness, Vitality) and work your way toward Berserker (Power, Precision, Ferocity.)
The dungeon community can be quite accommodating and patient, just don’t join any groups advertising “exp” because they do not mean “explorable” they mean “experienced.” If you can’t find any groups that will let a new player in, start your own dungeon party and label it “first time” or something. People usually show up to those. Starting a LFG in no way requires you to be the “leader.”
Map completion is up to you. You don’t necessarily progress while doing it. You can get some level 78 exotic gear, but nothing max unless its a drop. It’s often not a test of skill like Silverwastes or dungeons. Map completions do give you crafting materials, so that can help.
This game kills your Processor not the GPU.
Southsun Cove would like a word with you.
In GW1 I played something like 98% of my time as a ranger despite having all the classes at 20. At the time I was very new to MMOs and had quite a few of the anti-farm anti-min/maxing views I still see so many players hold today.
In GW2 my playstyle changed quite a bit, though I still spend the majority effort on my ranger. However, with the new mindset I have now, I have no problem repeating content (dungeons) and trying out meta builds if I’m struggling. The result is that I get to change it up and take a different character to a dungeon or map any time I want.
I still have to take my ranger to fractals because I have not invested in AR (or in many cases, ascended gear) for my other characters. Ranger is a good fractals profession though. Great stability for melee and great ranged damage for the many ranged parts (compared to dungeons at least) fractaling throws at you.
When HoT releases, my ranger will be the first to enter the new areas as well. I feel like once mastered, there is no better profession to take into new/uncertain situations. Such a solid mix of damage and self reliance.
So yeah. If I HAD to play only one profession it would be ranger. However, my elementalist only takes second place by a hair. It’s a very close race between the two.
Invisible Clothes – Hostile condition confirmed for HoT!
Warning do not cast on charr unless you want to intimidate your own team.
They would have to redo every jumping puzzle if they did that.
Though I do enjoy running fast.
I like plant wolves a lot. Though they aren’t part of my meta so I can’t use em.
That breaks my immersion.
Did I play the immersion card right?
This should really be fixed as soon as possible. In that particularly moving moment the last thing i want to see is Faren’s kitten or a laughing doll or a flea-infested gryphon toy.
Classify it as bug, remove minis as long as there is enough resources to create a system that allows turning minis on and off in cutscenes.
I thought video games were supposed to be fun though.
Oh Festive Faren! What did you do?!?!
Forget everything else. There’s an EXTREMELY RARE account bound ghostly wolf pup trying to hide from us!
PSome people with high-spec computers are so hyper-sensitive that they lose their kitten over a mere temporary drop in fps.
Which is a concern still.
People going to Antarctica straight from Florida are probably more likely to freeze to death than anyone who’s already been there for months.
One man’s 20 dropped to 15 is another man’s 60 dropped to 45.
Favorite class, favorite mesmer, and favorite character. Don’t know how many different dyes and styles I’ve had back and forth – but this is the one i like the most and I think the style isn’t the most common
That first one is quite a legendary screenshot.
+1 on most points
- I do agree and usually only buy outfits that look more like clothes. I’m not a fan of armor/outfits most of the time.
- The tonics should be made into outfits, yes.
- Costume brawl dailies, I don’t miss. It really wasn’t balanced, which normally I wouldn’t care about but it sucks when people aren’t responding to your last minute plea for a brawl partner and some jerk from outta nowhere trolls you with his boxing gloves or executioner scythe the minute you do find a partner.
- Costume toggle key? Yes please.
- Toggle shoulders. VERY MUCH YES. I rarely wear shoulders on my normal armor sets, if I do it’s usually more scarflike. Not really that big on pauldrons.
I would pay 1000 gems for a hi-res Wolf mini pet that’s the size of the wolves in game.
Save yourself 1,000 gems and make a ranger.
Mini pets are less of a liability.
You’d end up using a Jaguar anyway.
- Favorite unlocked title: GWAMM / Dungeoneer
50/50 depending on how GW1/GW2 I’m feeling.
If I could have any title I would don The Emperor
“UNLIMITED POWER!”
- If I could have any title I would don Ultimate Aggressor because I usually draw a lot of aggro from mobs. Also the title is impossible to get.
- When I see the title The Emporer I smile at the fact that the wearer was not too proud to buy armors from/for all races. I’ve seen others get seriously racist vs a few of the races in the game.
- I dislike seeing the title Deer Commander because it actually has nothing to do with deers. I was depressed when I learned it was just a child’s misspelling (written by an adult IRL) in a letter and not some new Wintersday event pertaining to the actual animal.
- If I could make up a title it would be Koutalophile because that collection should reward more than three levels + junk for spending 5g, doing guild missions, spending time in WvW, beating Tequatl 1-3 times and doing up to like 50 fractals.
EXTRA BONUS NOTE: I have never disrespected anyone for wearing a title. I could never bring myself to achieve Twice Told Legend, for example, but I have nothing against people who did. Just like I’m not disappointed in players for wearing Deer Commander, just in Wintersday for not giving me a deer game.
Dungeon Master is slightly easy to get. A bit less easy if you don’t buy Arah runs. It doesn’t mean I don’t find it EXTREMELY encouraging when my PuGs are wearing it. So it is up there among my favorite titles to see on others.

Hey, C’mon guys! Why did we stop?
I miss browsing these almost daily.
Eh, this thing.

People who complain that ArenaNet don’t make armour skins anymore don’t realize that they are holding them back for the expansion.
And they will be obtained BY PLAYING THE GAME, like the glorious pvp armour and carapace armour.
That’s the dream. I love it when dreams come true.
(Not my dreams though, keep those things fake please!)
Charge real cash for it would be good too, although I suppose a case could be made for gems.
A case can always be made for gems when it comes to in-game features. So far they’ve been quite reliable about that too, and it has given us many additional goals to keep us playing.

http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/gw2-mini-red-panda.jpgThe first screen shows how low res the face and, more noticably, the fur is.
The second screen shows the low poly count.
Ah, now that looks more low res.
To me it isn’t really a low res look so much as a hand drawn look.
It looks like it was done in pencil. Would make a great Wintersday toy mini though.
- Greatsword
- Rifle
- Staff
- Hammer
- Shield
- Longbow
- Sword
- +Whatever the warrior ends up getting as a specialization weapon
It’s a tradition I started practicing every time I made a character in an Elder Scrolls game, using console commands.
Fortunately GW2 has been pretty good about my characters in the open world looking more similar to their character-creation screen than I’ve seen in other games. I still support the idea.
Yes!
I support this idea. Especially having different sits. Maybe even make some sit-able chairs?
Well I don’t want to shoot your post down. I do think better textures are always a plus. I’d never go against it as a suggestion.
Though I would like to say that GW2 has been one of the best looking first person games I’ve ever played. It’s amazing how much of a difference it makes. Fantasy environments really help. It’s really neat to look up a mountain and see an asuran cube at the top. Makes you wonder what they are studying up there.
Norn settle there problems with fists and beer.
lol i was about to post the exact same thing. the only thing jail does is give someone time to come up with a better plan.
Do norn REALLY plan though?
Power, Precision, Ferocity, Autopilot Melee.
We sword rangers already have this though.
I prefer to use my shovels/keys in the middle of defenses.
Sure it’s not as many chests as a chest farm, but its better than separating the two profits. I only join chest farms if I’m having a lengthy chat with someone external to what I’m doing in SW and cannot focus.
If we beg really hard, we may be able to eventually get dungeons reworked using HoT’s new dialog systems (which includes the ability for your character to talk while you still have control.)
If done right, cutscenes can be removed from dungeons entirely. The story will unfold before your eyes and no one will be able to skip it. Of course it would anger many many veteran players unless said moments were balanced so that did not slow down the pacing of the dungeon.
I for one would like to see an end to cut scenes interrupting me in the middle of typing “Thanks” at the end. I also wouldn’t mind knowing what I’m doing story-wise in each dungeon yet at the same time have less exposition dumps in front of closed gates. Make it dynamic!
(edited by DarkWasp.7291)
This is true for a few other events as well.
Commissar.
Maw. Thanks to the kill credit bug (You have to be one of the first to deal damage.)
Karka. Again, thanks to the kill credit bug.
An adjustment would be great.
I seem to remember Gaile saying Easter would be the best time for the return of the bunny ears. I know she doesn’t put them up for sale, but it sounded pretty convincing like it was going to happen. I’ll be disappointed if they don’t go on sale, it’s pretty much a statement saying that they won’t be coming back. If not on Easter, then when?
Though, I could understand them taking the holiday weekend off and tomorrow (Monday) putting them on sale. I don’t mind if the sale isn’t on Easter itself, as long as it happens. I still have hope!
I think she said “spring”
I’m sure they will let us know in the Patch Notes when it is re-enabled.
Good luck. =)
Or check reddit to see what they forgot to mention in the patch notes.
A mechanic that allows skilled players to defeat content is a good mechanic for an action based game. This is by design to allow actual skill to play an important role in fights instead of relying on gear.
I like what you’re saying, but the OP is actually asking for enemies to have faster attacks. Sure they’d be smaller hits to balance it out.
So the idea isn’t to invalidate the dodge mechanic. It’s to make it so not every encounter is easily dodgeable.
For example, that annoying boss at the end of HotW P1 actually makes condition and ranged builds seem more viable in pugs because he’s a bit more dangerous to melee than most enemies.
And no I’m not an anti-zerker advocate either. All of my characters are zerker and I love that playstyle.
I do get what you are saying, OP.
(Don’t worry this is all going to circle back around to dungeon NPCs)
Before GW2 was released I thought the DE system was GENIUS! And guess what. I still do. Gone were the days of trying to located every NPC hiding around a camp who has an exclamation point over their head. With DEs, not only do you go and participate in a fight that you SEE happening, you learn about its story just be being there. No reading (skipping) a wall of text to find out what is actually happening and why you are actually helping.
The developers got the memo. Many of us weren’t reading that stuff anyway, so they found a way around it. On top of that, a superior gameplay mechanic was born.
Why did this mindset stop at dungeons? To me it doesn’t make sense how the story and characters are presented in explorable mode dungeons. I have the dungeoneer title, and I still don’t really know the ins and outs of the story for explorable paths.
I know why I’m there. I’m there because I want gold and tokens and I find dungeons fun. We can even refine that a little bit and say I know I’ve gone into AC to kill one (or all) of three legendary gravelings and the NPC I choose at the beginning determines who’s plan I’m going with. I still do NOT know why we want to kill them though. I think it’s probably explained in the cutscene, and I’ve skipped that every time.
Why do I have to skip it every time? Why does the cutscene exist? The rewards are built for dozens upon dozens of runs, yet the story is designed for one run. We’re constantly being bogged down by a mechanic that’s pretty much intended to be watched once.
How does that tie to the NPCs being annoying? Well we’re supposed to help Detha plant some traps. We hardly even care who Detha is. She’s that cat lady who bugs and bricks P2 and she also thinks Tzark’s plan is stupid and won’t work. Everything she said to us in a cutscene, we skipped.
However that brings up the actual good part about dungeon story telling:
“I’m gonna crush you into this bridge!”
“I’ve got the perfect tool for this situation!”
“People just wander in here and get attacked!”
“Do they pay her by the word?”
“Control it! Control it!”
“Go ahead. I hear they’re delicious.”
“You know, Vallog doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who NEEDS a butler.”
“Watch me push a button! Oo! Maybe I’ll flip a lever!”
Those are the parts we actually comprehend. Now get rid of the slow walking between those lines and you’ve got a better storytelling system that is more conducive to repeatable content. There are times where an NPC gives you an exposition dump before opening a gate, well that can be made better too. Open the gate first, THEN give the exposition dump.
Now HoT is adding the feature where our own characters can talk while in action. This would be PERFECT for explorable dungeons. Lets hope they go in at some point and clean up the explorable storytelling using that feature instead. Imagine no more cutscenes. If they could speed up the slow NPC setup parts too, that would be AWESOME.
I can’t wait till they sell the gemstore item that allows us to plane around again.
It’s 12:36 AM over at ANet HQ. It’s only 36 minutes into Easter Sunday.
Don’t lose hope yet.
