world bosses, thieves they die so fast and have no real ranged option.
Ahahaha, are you kidding me? Pistol, dual pistol, pistol/dagger and shortbow are not real ranged options? And, sure, thieves are squishy, but survivable, if you’re doing it right.
900 range. Without a bazooka, they’re shafted at Claw of Jormag, for example. Hell, even Guardians have 1200 range on scepter and staff.
Yeah but you can totally run in to 900 range, get a few shots off, get downed, and warp back safely to 1200 range where people will rez you!
:D

I think this whole mindset that all people should be helping with WvW needs to go.
People who don’t want to WvW are not necessarily bad people.
People who only PvE are not necessarily ruining your fun.
So don’t get yourself all worked up over the morality, courage and justice of these players.
If WvW is understaffed, is PvE really to blame? If it is, wouldn’t that imply PvE is better than WvW (to more people)? If WvW is not understaffed, then why care what the PvE players are doing?
Want to recruit more people into the WvW cause? Do it positively. Server bonuses for WvW success is one way of positive advertising, though it’s very hidden.
Exploration was an example of negative advertising. Many dreaded that last section of their world completion. Guilting “carebears” is another example of negative advertising.
I think this thread is a pretty good indication that the community still wants a little bit more from some of the old legendaries.
It would be nice if they got another update before the new ones come out.
First person camera view. Hmm…
I hope they add in support for the Bobblehead Laboratories for those of us that own/use them. Make our first person view bobble when we move. Not recommended for those with motion sickness.
Add in some excessive (in-game) alcohol consumption for a more robust experience!
Anyway, I’m looking forward to the camera changes regardless.
Hah, it reminds me of the horde of arguments against first-person view stating that dodgerolling and dagger storm would cause motion sickness.
I didn’t even know how to respond to those
It’s far better to offer soft incentives than hard requirements. Look at sPvP reward tracks – they are very good at bringing people to the Mists, even if you can get most of the things from those tracks elsewhere.
^ This is SO true.
I’m enjoying sPvP because I’m using it to help complete my dungeon collections. Unlike WvW exploration, there’s no nagging stress when my allies start failing me, because I can still obtain dungeon collections through doing the dungeons themselves.
Previously when sPvP was “required” to be competitive in daily AP earnings, the experience wasn’t quite so pleasant. The same could be said for the Dragon Ball Arena and the Wintersday Jumping Puzzle.
This is a very good change:
- Exploration was 90%+ PvE, but the WvW side of it could take longer than all of the rest combined.
- Exploration in PvE was a different type of content than exploration in WvW.
- There are people like me who enjoy WvW/PvP MUCH LESS when stressing over exclusive PvE goals while doing them. All of the fun times I had in WvW happened in the absence of goals.
- The Gift of Battle is still required and includes content that rewards players for playing WvW in general and does not require specific goals that your server may not accomplish.
- There are people like me who never feel drawn to WvW (though I do like sPvP). The previous exploration requirement did not change that attitude.
- Having to set foot in every fort wasn’t exactly the best representation of WvW.
- Map exploration is NOT solely a legendary goal. A lot of people just want to say they explored the PvE map. Might as well give them a star for that.
- Anyone saying the above are whiners, carebears or scrubs are a big part of the reason why they didn’t want to WvW/PvP in the first place.
Imagine if it was a different type of pet. Something more similar to a following nature spirit. As in, it’s used to do more supportive things and not damage.
If that were true, and damage on weapons as a druid were scaled up to compensate, that would be closer to what some people have been suggesting.
The interesting thing from that reddit, that I really hope we’re getting is:
No more WvW map exploration!
Had an inkling after the CDIs and his own forays onto the forum dried up, especially as the CDIs were very much his initiative.
They were impactful and I hope someone else takes up the task.
At level 21 you should be fresh out of the new player maps. You may find chat increasing as the level of the maps go up.
Here’s where it gets annoying between PvE and PvP:
Nerf HB damage, increase movement = A complete buff to HB in PvP and a complete nerf to HB in PvE. I don’t think warriors need another nerf in PvE.
Nerf ranger LB rapid fire = Maybe you will have stopped something “OP” in PvP, but you’d also destroy something every PvE ranger wanted since launch, to put the “range” back in “ranger.”
On the other hand, I think a rethink of the ranger 1hSword would benefit both game modes:
1. The autopilot serves close to no purpose in PvE, it’s has way too many downsides. One of of which is needing to turn auto-attack off -> You lose DPS if you want to type something real quick
2. Yes, there are people in PvP who are really good at micro managing the targeting system and using the autopilot to fly in and out of the playing field but…
3. I don’t see the weapon being used often for offense in PvP at all. I think PvP build diversity would benefit more from removing this autopilot and making this a more flexible melee weapon.
Those pirates collected one of every exotic item in the game and locked them all in that magic box.

^ For a moment I thought that picture of that statue had a wave splashing up behind it.
Great shots.
You get nothing from what I remember accidentally buying the upgrade a second time. I think I got 1 or 2 things but definitely no pvp influence book as it clearly states it’s a one time thing per account.
So yeah, do not recommend buying it a second time, haha.
They should have advertised it like this:
Physical items
- Guild Wars 2 game disc for PC and the best of Guild Wars 2 soundtrack CD
- Collectible metal box and 10" Rytlock figurine
- Custom art frame, portfolio, and five art prints
- Making of Guild Wars 2 112-page hardback book
Digital items
- The Golem Banker which provides unlimited access to your account storage for five consecutive days
- The Chalice of Glory, a one-time-use item that will add a set amount of Glory to your account
- The Tome of Influence, a one-time-use item that will add a set amount of Influence to your guild
- Miniature Rytlock
- Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill, an elite skill that summons a Mistfire Wolf to fight alongside you
MEGA BONUS ITEM
- As a sincere token of our gratitude, while somewhere down the road we’ll increase the digital value of our standard edition, we’ll exclusively give our Collector’s Edition supporters a one-time ability to scam themselves
And people said ArenaNet doesn’t do loyalty bonuses. Pfft, shows how much they know.
We’ve gotto recruit more people into the cause.
Show them with monster 10 page megathread how much we care.
So zerging Cursed Shore gives a lot of T6s, and exotics aren’t too uncommon if you keep it up.
SW profits depend on several factors, but the main one is the performance of your server. You get 4 rares if you win the breach, 1+ rares if you win Vinewrath, but the profits are also really fast during the Labyrinth that starts during the break time afterward. Once you get good at hopping from spore to spore (not dying) you tend to get a lot of T6s, loot and champ bags. If you actively participated in the SW events, you could find yourself with 7-15 rares by the time you’re done opening all the bags.
Dry Top drops a lot of T6s and has a decent chance of Charged Lodestones.
World boss events guarantee at least one rare. They are mostly slow profits, but they are very effortless. However, you’ll want to catch the one posted on the dailies for that extra rare. You should also catch Tequatl at reset and Maw right after that. Maw because its short, Tequatl because its 2g + at least 3 rares.
Dungeons are mostly worth around 1.50g each path. The elitism isn’t as kittenome people make it out to be. If it makes you feel any better, all the elitists I’ve seen don’t even live up to their own standards. Look for groups that just say “80s” or “all welcome.”
Fractals… I wouldn’t suggest for profits. They can be great with a guild. Anywhere from great to completely terrible with pick-up groups. Either way, at lower levels they are about 2.5x-5x longer than a dungeon if done well and give about the same in guaranteed reward. I personally love doing them, I just don’t expect to get much in reward.
Basically mix it up
Do SW when you’re in the zone mentally for profits.
Do Tequatl, Maw as an anchor point in your day (I take a short break as I wait 30-15 minutes in Sparkfly) and then your favorite dungeon paths after that.
Do world events when you’re watching TV on the side.
Do Cursed Shore or Dry Top when you just want to swing your sword for T6s and drops.
I fought spiders all across tyria, but none of them prepared me for garguntula.
What if we replaced EVERY spider in the game with Malrona! Now THAT should be April Fools this year.
So if you own the Digital Deluxe from before Heroic Edition, you have always had the option to scam yourself and pay 1500-2000 gems for nothing more than an armor worth 500 gems and an 18 slot bag with some boosters.
This weekend is the only time you can click that upgrade and break even in value unless you’re really into buying EXP boosters on the shop.
A certain amount of repetition and familiarity is desirable to most if not all human beings. It’s why people buy pets or get married. It’s why people look for a good neighborhood to settle down in. It’s why people listen to the same song over and over, why they keep the same painting hung up on their walls.
I’m pretty cool about betas. I fancy myself a bit of a game dev, I’ve certainly worked with some code and some mapping for older games.
Bugs from betas don’t cause me despair, they are actually fascinating.
I always prefer real betas to stress tests and public access periods given the name “beta”.
However, if I don’t get in, I don’t get in.
In their defense, outfits were a HUGE thing in gw1. They just implemented it late for gw2.
But I do agree skins would be nice. Full sets too, not random gloves or boots.
Actually they were implemented late in GW1 as well, likely as a feature that was implemented due to the conceptualization of GW2. In fact, no microtransactions aside from PvP starter packs and edition bonus upgrades existed before GW2 was announced.
GW2 just tried to improve on the feature with town clothes, which were mix-n-matchable and individually dyeable. However it took the artists a while before they added the new shirts and pants that made the feature even remotely desirable for someone who didn’t want to be a chef, pirate or boxer. No features were implemented to automatically change into or encourage changes into town clothes while in cities.
It was all a bit like underwater combat. Overall a great idea, but it didn’t get the developer attention it needed to be viable. This lead to people forgetting/avoiding it.
The reasons for switching to outfits are pretty apparent though. They require a lot less comparing, they don’t have to mix well with other armors/clothes.
Interesting note here: In GW1 for a long time it was uncommon to see someone who mixed armors.
ZING!
…
Oh wait…
Glad I could help :P
Carapace/luminescent armor kind of has a tail on, I forget which armor class. Light I think?
Ctrl-Shift-H hides your UI for taking a screenshot “Amon.”
GW2 actually has a lot of casual players. It’s a game you can pick up and drop whenever you like.
It feels wrong reporting someone because they rushed off to go tend to their crying baby in the other room and forgot they left the game running as they sat down with their spouse to watch sitcoms.
Interesting. The OP was actually about defiance and blind. However, the word “Zerker” was used.
It’s a magic word really.
We’ve heard all sorts of incantations like “Hocus Pocus” and “Abracadabra,” but none have been as powerful as the word “Zerker.”
It LITERALLY summons scrolls and scrolls full of text.
So…
Did you ever consider going to Dry Top and opening a few chests with those 28 lockpicks?
Warrior.
With a life dedicated to teaching and spiritual leadership, priests probably don’t have much left to dedicate to the other professions. Give them a sword and they’ll swing it around like a warrior.
Guess I was the only one then?
So we recently heard that we’re soon to get first person zoom in GW2. For me, this news was equally as exciting as the announcement of HoT (read: UNCONTROLLABLY EXCITING) and I can’t wait till it drops on the 10th.
However, some of us /slept, used tonics and map geometry to help hide our characters to get these fake-first-person shots and their time of recognition is running out. So here’s your chance to show off your ingenuity before these types of images become convenient.
The rule is simple: Your character can not be in the shot unless you found a sneaky way to disguise yourself.
I took 106 of these images: http://imgur.com/a/VSDIf
Here’s 4 of my favorites in attachment form:
Well due to the very nature of balance patches, the highest DPS switches from time to time.
Warrior is very stable with a lot of self buffs that remove some of the need for a supportive party.
Rangers need more help for might and such, but have a somewhat higher DPS potential on bosses in full zerk groups (last time I mathed it out).
Eles at full might can fill their screens with 10ks, but can get wiped by attacks no one ever knew existed. Stacking in pugs can be dangerous.
Guardians can do a lot of damage, but it takes extra vigilance to survive. Also watch those light fields, they are annoying to fire blasters.
Mesmers still do a lot of damage on their own, but Time Warp is amazing in specific fights. Reflects are amazing in others.
The others I haven’t played enough to comment on.
Between warrior, ranger and guardian:
Warrior is the easiest.
Ranger has a lot of self/pet micromanagement and higher prep times.
Guardians need to pay more attention to their surroundings than the other two.
Ele is really hard not to die on if you aren’t very experienced. I wouldn’t advise zerking it until you’ve gotten a feel for the game and the class’s evasion/reflect/heal/block/cc/whatever skills.

Heres hoping they nail it, and not leave it feeling floaty (heres looking at you eso)
I think, unlike ESO, it’s probably not meant to be used in combat. It was floaty in GW1.
The purpose is to give us the ability to zoom in and see the world from time to time, not to give us an alternative view for fights.
I’m happy they put no restrictions on it though. Anyone who has trouble fighting in first person, but continues to do so, will be their own worst enemy. The rest of us will be smart enough not to do that.
Which character/profession would you rather be?
My ranger. Though I’d no longer use zerk sword and instead cautiously longbow from a distance.
Which game mechanic would you rather not have to contend with?
Getting hit by arrows, swords, axes .etc
Conditions.
Falling.
That disinterested look ladies give me.
What currently unimplemented game mechanic would you wish was implemented?
Well I sure as hell would want first person view. Good thing that’s coming. Housing would be essential too.
Which NPC would you be most likely to seek out and befriend or clobber or ________?
Countess Anise seems like the most powerful connection anyone could have.
I probably wouldn’t punch anyone in the face.
You may, however, find me screaming at people who are standing around the bank taking my interact ability away from the tellers.
Which zone would you choose to call home?
Divinity’s Reach. Ever notice how humans are the only race that have more than a handful of houses?
Insert your own questions here!
What would you do at your home?
I would hope to get a job as a crier so I could walk around all day and say anything I want and still get paid.
I think one major thing they could do is make the oozes at the fire part allies.
That’s the only part I consistently don’t like about the path, and it makes it difficult to pug.
The irony is the high DPS.
This makes it the ideal choice in PvE. However, the static mobs make the autopilot seem more like a penalty than a feature.
In PvP/WvW, it’s meant for aggressive chasing, yet things like teleport, stealth and clones can mess it up really fast.
I mean, I guess it is really good for taking out downed people.
I know the first person camera perspective was sorely missed at launch, and I’m glad it’s finally reaching the game. Will this feature be tucked behind the expansion? If so, then that’s disconcerting. Between first person camera, Stronghold ( evolution of GvG) and guild halls these features should have been included at launch. More and more, the expansion is feeling like a chance to purchase the missing core components from launch and not an actual expansion of the game.
According to the articles, we are getting these camera improvements on March 10.
HIIIYYYAA! Cha! *Aims toward wall and does random not-really-karate moves*
I’m so happy!
I decided to do another photoshoot of my ele, this time with the creatures of Tyria, only to find out she’s not really that much of an animal person. Oh well, I tried.
Attachment #1: The most beautiful creature of all, by herself.
Attachment #2: She was saying, “I don’t have to touch it, right?”
Attachment #3: She seemed a bit uneasy about the horns on the dolyak.
Attachment #4: “Stay calm. Don’t flinch when the bat thing comes by. DONT… FLINCH!”
Attachment #5: She did fine with the rabbits though.
What weapon you DONT-WANT? (Specialization)

I want all the weaps!
I’ll be either taking my instant 80’d rev into the jungle or my ele into the jungle to get its specialisation.
Gonna have exotic+ gear ready?

See if you can find out if we’re going to be getting a sizable of new weapon and armor skins outside of the new legendaries. I know that’s usually a given with expansions, but what we’ve seen so far has mostly been displayed with old skins.
Who knows, maybe they have whole sets (like with dungeons) that we can earn.
Bookmarked and post +1ed
They did say that after they did the con, they’d do a beta which would ultimately help them formulate a release plan. Once that’s settled, we should indeed be seeing preorder info.
Time for more lore ones!
- The Flame Legion can actually control the searing effigy
- Caithe had a good reason for loving Foalain
- Logan is actually the sexiest man alive
- The Sons of Svanir should still totally exist as a faction after farmers killed off 9,000,000,000 of them at Coil
- The Lion Statue was stupid and deserved to be blown up
- I cannot, in fact, outrun a centaur
- Agent Spire could totally fit that huge door buster cannon in her pocket
- Scarlet’s face was nice but she was a terrible dresser
- Life is too short to wear boring socks
I never though of it that way! +1ed
- I don’t know how to drive
I’m envious
You can report them for harassment if they get too bad. Likely not going to get banned on the first offense, but we must all do our part to make sure these situations don’t go unnoticed.
FYI, I’m a min/maxing zerker player and I still do kick people who are being elitist in the wrong situation, and I rarely advertise for “experience.” It’s often that the people who are super offensive/defensive in chat are half the reason things are going poorly.
The problem here is that a lot of the really good QoL changes, like show rarity and content finder, were not added to the patch notes.
