I think the title says it all, this is disappointing and poorly planned.
I just want a way to be able to open the daily login window again so I can see where I am in relation to finishing/what rewards are coming up next.
Yeah, same for me. Hopefully they have a handle on the situation and I can get a fix before character slots are on sale again so I dont miss it again… Cause I wasnt able to buy any this time.
Yah, this randomly happens all the time, rarely does it stick around long enough to be mined though.
You’re lucky.. I’ve been dealing with anet support for like 3-4 days now and they are clueless to the problem. I wish somebody from anet would at least acknowledge this problem on the forums. They seem to have ignored every post about this.
I had this problem for a few days, and as soon as I mentioned having it to a friend (who didn’t have the problem), I found myself magically able to gain access ._.
It’s certainly a problem and is really inconsistent. My best advice is to just keep trying and eventually it might work. And it seems that once it gets unstuck, it runs into no further problems.
I wish that were true for me, been trying constantly for over a week. Working with support (with no luck) and hoping to get more attention to the problem on here.
My gem store and Trading Post load fine but my currency exchange on the other hand is completely blank.
Yeah, I am currently dealing with support but I get the feeling they are at a loss as well and are just going through the motions and hoping something works.
Things I’ve done so far.
1. Changed my DNS to google DNS.
2. Repaired my client.
3. Reinstalled my client.
4. Tried on a different computer.
5. Ran NCSoft Game Advisor. Sent Logs.
6. Ran Hijackthis. Sent logs.
7. Tried public wifi source.
8. Disabled all start up programs so all I had was Guild Wars 2 running and vital system processes.
At this point I’m pretty much at the point where I expect I’ll never be able to use the currency exchange.
I posted a similar issue a day or two ago. Havent had much of a response. I had a support ticket in but they are saying it is my ISP. I would believe it but I tried a vpn and it persists.
Anet support got back to me, literally trying to offset all blame onto my ISP. I guess all of our ISPS are in on this together.
I have Optimum Online, does anybody without Optimum have this issue or is it really my ISP?
(edited by Dinks.2478)
This problem persists and no response from anybody in support or from anybody on here. I guess only a few people have this issue so screw us.
I wanted to buy a character slot today with the sale and all and I’ve been trying to convert gold to gems all day and I keep getting this page over and over. I’ve repaired my client, I’ve restarted several times. I just can’t get it to work. I’m kind of sad now that I won’t be able to get the character slot while it is on sale as I’ve been waiting for a sale like this for a long time now. I’ve attached a screenshot to demonstrate what is happening when I click on the currency exchange tab.
No, you no longer receive laurels for dailies, you’ll get laurels from daily login rewards. In any case you can however at the moment get laurels from the wintersday dailies.
Seconded, the answer given in the bug forum makes no sense. It was possible last year. Any reason involving “it isn’t possible” simply means that the game has apparently been downgraded to sub-par conditions and should be reverted back in that case.
I think perhaps you misunderstand. The code that is used for this event is code that also is used for PvP. The code that allowed party joins for Toypocalypse was changed — by necessity — in order to stablize PvP as a whole. This wasn’t a design decision, this was a necessary change.
I’m sure if you look at this objectively, it makes sense to set a short-time event for single enters in order to stabilize all of PvP, which is a permanent element of the game.
I’ll ask the designers if they have more insight, but what I was told indicates that “we had to do this change in the short term in order to make PvP more stable” which applies to the permanent game mode.
You can take parties into PvP, so I am misunderstanding? I can party up with 1,2,3 or even 4 of my friends and join a PvP matchup. So if all “PvP” maps are now on the same system it still makes no sense that I cannot party up with my friends for toypocalypse. The same toypocalypse I could party up with friends last year.
I just heard from the team about this, and it is an unfortunate but intended change. The alteration came about because code changes were required in order to stabilize PvP and some Instance Activities. According to one of our lead designers, the change cannot be revisited for this year’s release. Thanks for your understanding concerning this necessary adjustment.
This is a joke right? We can’t play with our own friends and are forced to play with random people who are unreliable and come and go as they please because somebody made a mistake and loaded the wrong version of the code and now they’re unwilling to admit it. “Code changes”? That is the vaguest and most unreasnable response I’ve ever seen.
Year 1 – No parties, major complaints.
Year 2 – Anet acknowledges the problem and fixes it.
Year 3 – Anet says screw you and changes it back without a care in the world.
As time goes on we learn more and more how little anet cares about it’s playerbase.
I think Verificus is a wonderful (/end sarcasms) example of why we don’t have damage meters in this game.
Don’t we all love how he assumes that because someone chooses to use cleric gear. Or not follow the meta. That they are automatically bad. Doesn’t matter whether its true or not.
DPS meters, inspect, etc encourage that type of mentality, which is something we absolutely don’t want. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against personal DPS meters (like testing a build in Isle of the Nameless in GW1), but when most people think “dps meter” they think “group” and we absolutely don’t need that.
Because they are bad… They actively ignore the reality that they are inefficient and playing a weaker build just because they want to play the way they want. Not only are they bad, they are selfish and shouldn’t be joining parties with people. If you want to run a kitten build and waste your own time that is fine, but don’t drag other people down with you.
I’d rather run with a 4/5 zerker team than a 5/5 anything else. The 4/5 zerker team would still finish first. Other armor stats are simply not optimal.
They seriously need to get a new person who is in charge of the release schedule.
Considering it says season 2 returns Jan 13th, and there is no mention of it being the finale (it only says it’s a pivotal moment of season 2), I’m taking that to mean episode 8 isn’t the season finale. Whether or not that’s true, time can only tell.
As for my reaction… Le sigh.
I guess that’s more time to play DA:I and draft Hex’s set 2. I’m going to have a lot of Mordrum body parts bags when the next episode finally rolls around.
They’ve already said it was the last episode of the season.
We have one episode left and 2 armor pieces left of a set in Season 2 and you’re going to put it on break for a whole month just to come back to one episode? Who came up with this ridiculous schedule?
There’s a bigger technical issue—during “in game” scenes, the NPCs are moving around and things are happening (gadgets might be activating, props may be animating, etc.) and if you just skipped all that, it could lead to some really bizarre behavior. Trying to manually set a “failsafe” to teleport the NPCs, fire off effects, etc. to replicate what the world state is if the cutscene plays is extremely tedious and error prone.
That’s why the old style “dialogue cutscenes” are skippable, because we aren’t doing anything to the world while the dialogue plays, so skipping it doesn’t have any effect. We’ve moved away from those, because the in-game scenes are a lot more satisfying, but there’s a trade off.
Update, perhaps I am wrong on this, if so my bad.
That is a cop out. It is poor design all the way. If they insist on this being their reasoning then they MUST include a way to restart the achievements without restarting the whole instance. Plus they need to stop doing mutually exclusive achievements if you cannot skip cutscenes that last 20 minutes.
So anets move was to admit it isn’t working right then remove the only workaround so people who didn’t get it done are screwed? what the hell.
GW2’s ingame browser uses chrome, you mentioned IE. problem solved, close IE, scan your computer for malware, then never use IE again because it is bad.
Why am I allowed to finish a downed player with my stability or my aegis? That is their classes way of applying these sorts of effects. Though I do agree that the thief shadow step stomp is complete and utter nonsense. Stomped by somebody who is across the room is just cheating.
OP is a troll..his ID is xxxx.9562.if he played gw2 for more than 2 years there is no way that 4 digits start with 9….more like less than 3 months
Uhh… I know a lot of people who have been playing since day 1 with an 8xxx account… It is reasonable that a 9xxx could be the same.
Seems anet forgot to turn it on, there is another thread about this but no official response yet.
A lot of people I know turn their graphics down to low to fight tequatal to avoid disconnecting. Unfortunately I have no other advice passed that because I don’t have such an issue.
It must be rough, having it take up the 10 pixels in the top right corner of the screen. So rough indeed.
I dont care if it’s 1 pixel!
Anet your PvP tournament is a failure, has been since launch!
Check out this streamer: http://www.twitch.tv/heroharmony
She has MORE viewers and is playing GW2
At the time I checked GW2 has 1,800 she has over 2,300
What does that tell ya!
It tells you that they already ran out of precursors to give away. The tournament is not a failure because people are playing in it. Just because people don’t want to watch a video game doesn’t make it a failure. If anything the disappearance of huge WvW populations post season makes WvW a failure and thus your opinion is irrelevant.
The weekend starts on Friday by most definitions.
The weekend consists of two days, Saturday and Sunday.
I really don’t want to have to educate you.
Regardless, what day is it, genius?
It’s saturday.
You claimed that the weekend starts on Friday.
In a lot of cultures, the weekend begins on Friday. The world doesn’t revolve around you and only your understanding of the world.
But, again, regardless… it’s still Saturday, which should have the buff active.
I never claimed that the world revolved around me in any way.
Anet is an American company. It is owned by a Korean company. It is marketed primarily in the Americas, western Europe and parts of Asia. In every country in which the game is actively promoted the standard work week is Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday as the weekend.
Except everybody considers Friday night part of the weekend.
It must be rough, having it take up the 10 pixels in the top right corner of the screen. So rough indeed.
Friday night is part of the weekend, the last time this buff went active it also started Friday night. I feel like Anet forgot to flip the buff switch.
Typical, WvW players who want the whole game to change to accommodate them. Turn off the content guide, and minimize the other stuff. Problem solved.
After over two years of playing this game I’ve still never rubberbanded. I’ve had normal lag, but never rubberbanding.
The original information we got about this game included a concept for a sidekick, anet quickly scrapped that and I doubt we’ll see anything similar during this games lifetime.
Technically those were introduced. Of course, with the method used, at 100 skins each, for 99.9% of people that wanted them it will change exactly nothing.
Was it 100 or 1000?
I’m not in game but I thought last night I saw the different ones were either 1000 or 2000.
Not that it will make a big difference to most people getting it but it’s still more than 100.
It is 100 and 200.
I use to spend hours trying to convert gold to gems and vice versa. I couldn’t quite figure out how to type numbers into a box and at the end of those hours I was mentally exhausted. I consider myself marginally intelligent for a new player as I have had an iq test and the result was potato. So please stop trying to get anet to revert the system from this much easier system that removes me from the equation completely by making me have to spend more gold than my potato iq can muster.
There have been pretty much non-stop posts in this thread all day and yet the last “feedback” we got was 19 hours ago. Where are the devs?
They are ignorring the post because they are already bussy destroying the next thing for players, thats what they do in their meetings,, how to destroy fun for our players!
really anet get your heads out your azzes and listn to your players and make it RIGHT!!!
The worst part is that the devs that CAN do stuff about this are the ones that don’t play the game. The ones that play the game usually don’t have any actual authority on these changes and are stuck taking the flak from other players while these guys hide behind the forums. I feel kind of bad for the devs that actually enjoy this game and play it.
Like really? how am i suppose to get rid of these gems? i don’t like having leftovers gems after getting what i want from gem store? Either let me sell or buy the amount of gems i want,……. or sell me something worth 8 gems :P
1. Buy 800 gems for 152g 71s 79c
2. Buy 100 g for 726 gems
3. Buy 10 g for 73 gems
4. Buy 1 g for 9 gemsYou now have 0 gems. So simple, and you can’t be overwhelmed!
Ignore the net loss, of course.
yeah, opening the exchange window and typing in “#” where “#” represents the number of gems I want to change into gold was quite hard and overwhelming.
Also typing in the amount of gold I wanted to spend on gems was equally hard. All hail our saviors of mental anguish.
There are currently no voice packs available.
No I won’t name the guild cause its not worth it.
I was asked by a friend to join my guild and it was not like asking me he said they where taking members and I went myself to the guild. But what happened to me was not politely asking…they pushed me into either joining their guild or leaving the map when I was playing the game just like everyone else. But I am done with this thread since no one seems to get the point.
nobody gets the point because it is nonsense. They cannot force you to do either of those things. You can stay in any map, and you can not join any guild you don’t wish to join. If they harassed you just report them and continue doing the content.
it really is fantastic looking……it’s a shame it comes from a gemstore that now has a dishonestly altered conversion system that will leave me with 100 spare gems that are completely useless to me unless i buy more gems.
I read the Hexed outfit can be earned through gameplay. But new skins in the TP is nothing new. Anet has gone to the well too many times. In a game lacking an expansion for two years they should be giving away new outfits rather than milking the players who haven’t left for fresher MMO’s. SWTOR, Rift, EQ II, AA, WoW and others have expansions releasing soon. When is ours coming?
They were referring to the newly dishonest gold→gem conversion system that forces you to convert to at least 400 gems, and in 400 gold increments after that meaning to buy a 700 gem item you need to buy at least 800 gems, leaving you with 100 gems you had no intention of using.
They finally release an ingame outfit and its a reskinned existing outfit with a different hat. GG
11 Pages in the space of a few hours is quite a feat, and no doubt it will continue to grow. That is a very fast rate of growth. Perhaps that is a metric Anet would care to analyze?
Bigger complaint topics (e.g. My Greatest Fear), have taken weeks to reach such a level. That is to say nothing of the monster threads over at Reddit. All overwhelmingly negative. These are the places your precious new players go to look into the game before buying it, as well as word of mouth and reports from gaming news outlets, of which some may well pick up this story at some point. Keeping current players happy is a means to get new players in. Perhaps something for Anet to consider.
This is just ridiculous, and despite Anet devs saying there is no guarantees of changes being made (as they told to Gaile who kindly passed it on to us), if there are no changes, GW2 the game, and Anet the company could suffer. Just seems like we’re rolling into one kitten-up after another. Somebody get behind the wheel and put the brakes on.
They’ll fix this metric when they start deleting and infracting posts for being too critical and not worshiping the great anet gods.
Transparent attempt to squeeze more money out of the player base.
-10/10 don’t want.Honestly it’s like they just sit there and go “Hey, you know what would be funny?”
And stop treating new players like they can’t fill a bucket with water, using them as an excuse for idiotic decisions isn’t fair to them.
Yep, it is incredibly insulting. They’ve begun using the new player experience to excuse every bad move. New player dumb, new player smash!!
Anet, new player doesn’t mean moron. If for some reason typing out gold to get a gem amount was confusing then all you needed to do was allow the player to type out a gem amount and get a gold cost.
1/10 bad feature is blatantly designed to milk money.

If I have 100 gems and I want to buy something for 250 gems, I am not forced to buy a whole 400 gems. This system is complete and utter nonsense. If you want to make it simpler for people all you had to do was set up a system where you type in the number of gems you want, it tells you how much gold that will cost and you hit confirm and boom done.
I’ve never gotten a drop worth more than say 10g? 781 days and that is my reality.

if it is taken I guess assign a random not taken number?
There is no point, they might as well go back to the old system of minis where they could at least be sold again. There is no point is having a system where you dont have to keep taking out your mini if it just gets hidden anyway.
