Stability needs a giant, massive nerf bat. It is by far the best boon in the game because, for a short duration, it completely negates 1/3 of the trinity: control.

Blind, immob, cripple, chill. Those are also forms of control so you’re wrong.

Wouldn’t it be cool if Sigil of Blood was actually a good Sigil?

Superior Sigil of Blood
30% Chance on Critical: Steal Health (This effect cannot trigger more than three times every 1 second.) This adds Opportunity Cost! So if people blob up together I get to heal more! [Maybe])

Additionally gives your weapon a leech effect when it procs!

Cool! Now I know when it procs because it has a cool unique effect! And its fun to use now because it actually does something significant like the other sigils do!

Agreed on the sigil needing a little oomf.

As to the effect: Yes, I agree it would be nice to know when it goes off. But, the other side of this is that it would add another effect into the game, which can clutter the screen. If we had a unique effect for all sigils/runes, it would create a lot more effects….which again, makes things hard to read.

I do like your idea though!

The leech effect (a very short version of life siphon) is quite simple though. It’s not like a chaos storm or a Lightning field that just covers the area.

How is giving up on Esports going to fix GW2? Giving up on their ‘way’ of going after Esports is what should be said here rather than giving up on it altogether.

Esports can be created without limiting everyone to one mode. Esports can be created if you just listen to the people who play the competitive game the most. If they just gave Necros that buff to deathshroud that they did instead of giving them burning and a megathon laser full of fears, then we wouldn’t have people leaving left right and centre.

Traits
Engineer traits are largely a joke. The Alchemy line of traits is fine, but the others need serious work. Our Grandmaster traits especially need help. You know that trait “Adrenal Implant”? It’s a Grandmaster trait in the Tools line.

Well, rangers get that as a minor adept trait.

That’s just insulting.

We were given a minor trait as our grandmaster trait.

Rangers are not Engineers. Engineers aren’t naturally built to be evasive, Rangers are. That is why they have that trait as a minor.

All classes are not equal. Quit thinking like that or you’ll just end up homogenizing the heck out of this game.

Okay, I just saw your edit, and that really confused me. Are you trying to say that the Engineer in its current state is not in need of any changes? That the uselessness of Gadgets and Turrets is perfectly fine? And the fact that we only have one good elite (Supply Crate)?

You can also say that we have lots of “intuitive builds”, but they all boil down to one of three things:

HGH
Static Discharge
Grenades

It might be better if they fixed all the bugs, such as turret scaling, but until then, the class is seriously in need of help.

Final solution for league and transfers

What do I have to do in order to get my question concerning obvious transfer abuse answered?

Will there be anything implemented (such as weighted league points, server (il-)loyalty debuffs, intraleague server locks or similar) that prevents people flooding the probable winner of the league during the first week, then transfering back to the home server (within the same league) and benefitting from abuse?

When I have an answer to give you, I will give it. That’s just the way it goes.

Before the game launched, it was said that transfers between servers would lock you out of WvW for 2 weeks. Is that still possible to do?

And getting them in a situation where all 5 mobs are close to each other. Glue shot helps. And since you are there already, Sitting Duck trait gives a 3rd condition (vulnerability) to the existing two (Immob and cripple).

The problem with all this is the effort required for a that flimsy 8% damage, with the explosive shot’s bleed giving the 4th condition.

When I was testing the trait, I used grenades to stack a few conditions then tried to use that to do a lot of damage with my Rifle.

The reason why I don’t use Incendiary powder is because I don’t have crit chance at all. It would be a waste for me to use it. The best I can do is make people stand in the fire for more than a few seconds.

Yea, I’ve been playing around with this trait. They basically said “Haha, no AoE damage” so you basically have to drop conditions and then burst with it on your Rifle.

I guess in PvE you can use it a lot because it buffs per condition and then you can stack vulnerability and Rifle mods trait and that just makes the damage skyrocket.

But in PvP, unless you’re teamed up with a Necro, you’re never going to stack a lot of conditions on your own. People will evade some, or most of it and can cleanse a large amount of it too and this would reduce your burst potential by a bit.

Secondly, my question to Anet is; “How am I supposed to use this trait with a pistol?”

What surprised me most is you don’t use an elixir gun. Healing field and most importantly a stun breaker.

Very interesting choices, i like the idea.

So a class with 8 seconds of condi immunity, overpowered passive heal, and broken stun-chaining that can counter condi classes means condi meta is balanced? Just lol. Hard counters like this are what’s ruining the game. As it is it’s pick a counter or go home. How about fixing the actual meta instead of bandaging it by giving select classes op counters to it? I’m not here to play rock paper scissors.

OP counters I agree are bad but counters are needed in games in general. Not wanting to play RPS is not wanting to play any type of competitive game.

These are the chain of events that will occur in the next few weeks;

- The adoption of the longbow Warrior
- The downfall of the Spirit Ranger
- The praise of the Longbow Warrior
- The call for nerfs on the Longbow Warrior
- The chats about how the Longbow Warrior requires no skill and can wipe teams because he can throw down a fire field.
- The counter to the Longbow Warrior discovered (this will only happen if a team decides to put their heads together)
- The nerf to the AoE range of the burst skill on the Longbow Warrior five years later.

You know that people will bandwagon before the season starts anyway so it doesn’t mater. But this may end up messing with the Server more than helping it because, if the wrong people are in WvW during primetime and the people/commanders that actually get stuff done can’t get in, then the server just ends up losing.

That’s fair enough. I suppose I should have remembered that you were running Shamans amulet and not something like Rabid where you would have a lot more Precision to be able to get Incendiary Powder on cooldown.

With that in mind have you considered Cleric’s Amulet with, say, Valkyrie’s Jewel? Without bonus Condition Damage in Firearms your DPS with Shaman’s isn’t that jaw dropping, whilst your sustained DPS through Bombs and FT would be largely anaemic. If you had Cleric’s Amulet your FT and Bombs would apply decent enough pressure, but you’d also lose the strength of Napalm. On the other hand you’ll have a lot more consistent damage.

I could try it but I doubt it would be as effective.

Yes, I often argue with myself about Invigorating speed versus BPR and even Prot Injection. I sometimes swap them around depending on the day.

GW2 Monetization idea; Hero Battles

This is a conversation I had with myself; (Yes I am slightly off my rockers. No need to ask.)

Me 1; “What if Anet brought back hero battles and sold heroes on the gem store whilst also giving you some free heroes to start off with like Logan Thackeray and Koss Dejarin?”

Me 2; “That wouldn’t work, why would anyone buy a new hero when they have all the traits and skills on the hero they already have? And it would take ages to implement, they would literally have to make a special Ui for that mode alone”

Me 1; “What if only one character had access to a certain weapon? or Ai characters can’t weapon swap? It would reduce the amount of things a players has to monitor and control and give players a reason to buy more heroes. I don’t think the length of time it takes to make something that could potentially be fun should be a detriment to actually making it.”

Me 2; “Reducing the amount of things players have to pay attention to/factor in is nice but giving only one hero access to one weapon sounds a bit money grubby.”

Me 1: “The thing is, tactics-wise people will buy two heroes of the same profession if they want to try out a certain tactic. So maybe limiting access to weapons between characters is a bad idea but definitely, removing weapon swapping for Ai characters will definitely reduce ‘control bloatage’.”

Me 2: “But how will dodging work though? This isn’t GW1 where you can face-tank everything and don’t you think confusion/ AoEs would be the most powerful thing to use in these types of scenarios? Seeing as Ai just generally loves to spam”

Me 1: "You make a good point about the dodging but thinking about it, they have that Ai already in those profession NPCs in the mists, they tend to dodge most multi-hit skills and even dodge right after they are stunned. So that could be something.

About the AoE/Confusion spam, I think that’s all in the hand of the player. Are they able to make their team retreat and stop attacking when they get deadly stacks of confusion? or Will they let their team die due to to the AoE/Confusion spam?"

Me 2: “What’s stopping me from running 5 Necros?”

Me 1: “The fact that I can run 5 Stun Warriors?”

Me 2: “Indeed”

These words are not mine, they are from Blackcat7 on massively. I always found it annoying that people would make such great comments on websites that devs seemingly would miss. So I decided I’d copy-paste it here for you guys (and with a higher chance of Anet actually seeing it) for your viewing pleasure

Why is the left weapon bar locked down?

This has been a question since I started playing and I’ve seen it brought up in the forums. Many of the weapon powers in this title share the same types of attacks( AoE, Bleeds, Cripple, etc.), but the player can’t move their weapon powers around to make them match when they switch them. Overall, it’s not a big concern, but one may question why this can’t be done:

Liberate the Left Bar!

In this new year, with ArenaNet’s want to be an e-sport, adding some functionality to their left bar could help (bonus points if they allow players to save key configs per character.)

Why is a third party site handling Guild Wars 2’s grouping?

Here’s a number that’s missing. Over 6 million. That’s around how times users have used Guild Wars 2 – LFG to find a group for content like dungeons. That should probably cue the developers to move working on their own solution a little sooner rather than later. That site and the others like it help the bottom line of ArenaNet. Depending on your server, you could die of old age before you’d ever find a group to run a dungeon with.

Being able to find like minded users to play content with should seem like priority number one for an MMO that has such a spread out dungeon structure. Hopefully the developer response on an upgraded in game tool means that the feature won’t die on the vine.

Developers talk of a living world, but why does it seem like a progression expansion?

Now we’re going to talk manifesto. Yes that manifesto:

ANet developers don’t get to run away from this one because they hyped it back and forth between press releases up until the game released. This living story. It’s not cutting it. I can bring a guild mate to the game after being away for a year and they would find the game world changed in a very minor fasion. That’s not a living world. That’s more along the lines of a progression expansion that gets yanked away after a certain time.

The living story is surrounded by a largely static world. Why is that? The Hearts…Users do them once and then… nothing? Several of these Hearts seem to be things that should be constant daily happenings in the world. Yet the player only has to concern themselves with them once. It seems like a massive missed opportunity that should instead have the Hearts feed off of one another and trigger events.

Speaking of events, in some events, and in the world in general. There seems to have been some kind of push in certain areas to have them match up to the manifesto description. In some you actually have objects change to match the outcome of an event.

This begs the question: Why wasn’t more of this type of dynamic change expanded throughout the world instead of going on this living story tangent? Being able to watch a town become more than a static set piece that mobs rampage through from time to time would add more to overall game. Seeing a town reflect being made into a centaur stronghold and having a real consequence associated with it would pay more dividends than a fly by night progression story.

The voting of Keil in her current position is good step. However, the player very much remains dragged along for these living story moments. Having nothing they do matter. For the only true changes are in the closed story’s characters and very rarely in the world itself. However, this is ANet’s baby, and it easy to say ideas. In the end it’s what they can get implemented that matters. Though they should look to the horizon and realize new competition may actually fulfill the parts of their manifesto that they failed to implement.

Moa morph buffs pets -_-'

So, me and a friend were dueling and I was just kittening around using my Moa pet (the point was to help them learn Mesmer and me stomping him with wolves wouldn’t do that) and he made the mistake of Moa Morphing my pet in a few of the duels.

However, the pet while Moa Morphed (yet used the same kittening skills he normally does with the addition of a leap skill and an evade instead of his heal), landed literally every, single, skill, and my friend may not be the best Mesmer but he was still moving, which kittened my pet over normally.

The worst part is, the reason my Moa was magically landing everything was because Moa morph utilizes a LUNGE mechanic for each skill IE your attacks make you dart forward.

So if my pet can hit players under the effects of an enemy elite skill WHY THE kitten hasn’t Anet made ALL NPC attacks like this? My god PvE would be so much interesting (and our pets so much less useless) if they actually could land kitten!

I don’t know which part of PvE you’re playing but as long as I can keep something tied down, my pet will hit it.

Suggestions to strengthen power based builds

Personally I find no problems with the options we have. My only problem is with the weird way the options we have function.

If you look at rifle, there are so many points in which it tends to screw up. If an enemy is behind you and you do a quick turn around to knock them back or you get up close to someone for a blunderbuss, sometimes those things fail, leaving you open a good pummeling from your enemy.

I’ve made quite a few power builds for the engie and to me the options they have are quite vast but playing them effectively can be a dice-roll of “when is that control failure going to happen” most especially with the Rifle.

It is wrong how in this game the balance is done and it probably killed the game for many players that this meta stayed for months

It’s only been 2 months. Update was applied on June 25th. It really hasn’t been that long.

8- You should get a set amount of glory based on whether you win or lose, that’s it. No glory for doing things in tournament, it leads to all kinds of awful glory farming behavior even in ranked matches… it’s just a bad and unnecessary system.

For Eles, just add a trait called Cold Fire or Hot Ice; Applying Burning on chill or vice versa does not cancel one or the other.

Another thing Anet can do is, take Spirit Watch, remove the capture points and make it a King of the Hill mode. The team that holds the orb the longest wins. The mechanics for the orb going back to it’s neutral spot would still remain so that people don’t run away and hide in a corner with the orb. That would just get boring.

I have little faith in Deathmatch but if Anet wants to test out how successful it will be, they should take an existing map, turn off the capture points and call it TDM for a few weeks. I think Skyhammer is a perfect place for it TBH.

And if they want us to create these TDM modes and capture the flag modes or King of the Hill modes, they should give us the ability to turn off capture points and a proper menu within the custom arena to edit these things.

So it’s been about a week since I last checked this thread and in that week I’ve played about 30 matches, and won a grand total of THREE of them. No, seriously. I was 14-11 in total matches and now I’m 17-39. The last one was particularly rough, we got stomped in a non-competitive 4v5. I was on the team with 5 and our score ended up in the 100s at the end of the match.

I’m baffled more than frustrated because I have been attempting to focus on the details. I’m learning the maps better, I feel like I’m more consistently useful to my team, and yet, we still lose nearly every match. We’re losing more than when I felt I was being dead weight, even.

I still don’t know how to fight a number of builds but I’m learning more and more to disengage/not engage those and go to where I’m more useful to the team.

So, still learning curve. I’m kind of hoping this is just a really epic bad luck streak but with each successive day of losses it feels less and less like that, though I’m not at all sure whose fault it is. I know the one constant is me, but I’ve been doing a little better. Still a long way to go, but yeah.

You might need to start engaging in the 1v1s you think you can’t win. This will probably teach you to handle them better and sometimes it’s the best way to draw fire to yourself, pulling the enemy team away from where they may be most useful.

Play around a little with your game options. There are some target selection options there. I remember stealth making you drop target being really annoying at first though, you’re not alone there

To fix this problem, set the auto-targeting on. It will give you a target to attack as soon as they pop out if you’re using a skill.

Also turn off r-click targeting. That would also help a ton.

yes, make immobilize actually immobilize.

first step, make all weapon skill evades and teleports not work when immobilized then move onto utilities if that’s still not enough.

I think they should only affect evades, teleports don’t need you to be in motion so they shouldn’t be affected by immob.

Please don’t nerf it. Anet, you wanted to create something that was challenging so that people could feel like they achieved a great feat, THIS IS THAT THING.

Yes the combined fact that you have to cope with disorienation when you get three orbs, positioning so you don’t get 1-shotted by the AoE, positioning so you don’t get one-shotted by the zombie Liadris, camera orientation so that you can see where the magnetic orb is, positioning so that Liadri won’t land a combo on you and condition removal so you don’t stay crippled, can be a “bit” daunting but when you overcome that hurdle (with a bit of well placed luck, and mechanic-sploitation) you feel the urge to tell people how awesome you are.

So yea, the feeling of ENJOYABLE accomplishment is definitely here. Not the ragged accomplishment that you get in dungeons where it doesn’t feel like you used organization to finish, it’s more like you stumbled upon a win.

High Stakes Gambler not a Title?

Come on Anet! How am I supposed to show off that I did this wonderful thing if you aren’t going to give me titles for them. I want to call my character a High Stakes Gambler so that the Casino will know they should always keep a seat open for me at all times. I want to name my character “Lightbringer” so that they know I just defeated Liadri the Concealing dark with the 8-orbs achievement.

Come on! You need to put more titles into these acheevs. At least to the ones that are worthy of it.

The “first boss”? I’m pretty sure at least half the enemies you encounter in there have frequent one-shot mechanics. And most of them have very subtle tells on top of it.
The Queen’s Gauntlet is a microcosm of every mistake one can make in designing special fight mechanics.

The only mistake is the stacking of one shot mechanics into one fight. If the AoE 25% of your HP and the exploding dark things took 50% of your HP, I’d be more inclined to call it a fair challenge but this fight is just cheap as all hell.

You’re definitely a pro if you can finish it, that’s for sure.

You realize the Ranger has an elite with a very long lasting immobalize (if it would actually get fixed so it was reliable…) right? They also have mud trap.

Yes, but how does the fact that they have immobs affect their ability to evade or not evade? Are you assuming that I’m trying to remove Rangers from the meta by buffing immobs? And then suggesting that, it won’t necessarily do that due the fact that they have skills that immob?

If that’s the case then, I have to say, their ability to immob will not affect their position within a team. And no, I am not trying to remove them from the meta by suggesting a buff to immob, what I am trying to suggest is that Anet allow for more pro-active/skillful play where the player is tasked with evading the immob before it hits rather than during the immob itself and the other player is tasked with timing the immob right and is rewarded for doing so.
