I’d opt for the end of the new JP in Draconis Mons.
I don’t know, is it possible to portal people to that who haven’t already gotten inside the JP? (It might be, I have yet to find my way into the JP myself). And how sure are we the DM JP won’t get the same coding change that the EB one did so people can get the achieve just be reaching the top by whatever means?
I’d consider the jumping-over-lava-on-timed-platforms one in Caledon. Or, since that one almost never seems to be a daily (though when it is, man is it nice if a mesmer shortcuts it), the ice cave one in Frostgorge, the latter not being super hard, just annoying thanks to mobs beating up on you. Or Swashbuckler Cove in Gendarren.
Sorry for the run-ons and parentheticals … I have to work on reducing those in my casual typing.
Is this a trick question? On its face, A is. All the little glow bits take it away from being a muddy brown mess. Unless those glow bits are infusion effects, in which case the images are identical other than the red glow in B’s chest.
Thanks, I did finish phase 3 and thought I would get a thing or two for phase 4. I test-slew a small number of elementals and did not get the drop. I understand RNG — my question is whether the collection is completely disabled right now, or just the seed planting part.
If completely, will I still be able to get seeds? I currently only have 3 and would like to gather up the other 12 while waiting for the collection to be reinstated.
Actually that achievement can be completed in 1 day using different instances, 4 are enough to reach 50. Also you obviously didn’t read what I said, I said Ember Bey had a good reason to return to i.e. the new trinckets.
I’m …. not sure you meant to quote me. I’m off on sort of a tangent about the disabling of the collection due to related server crashes and what daily things can still be done to meet the time gates you deplore while waiting for the bugs to be fixed. I was responding to other commenters in the thread about that. I haven’t said a thing about Hungry Hal or overall returnable nature of the maps or in any way disagreed with your points.

Which is funny because they just disabled it due to a bug. (33 minutes ago at the time I’m posting this)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/The-Wayfarer-s-Henge-Backpack-Disabled-May-10-2017
hm???
what was wrong with it?
what issue? I did it today, everything worked as intended…
I was just about to get the last runestone tomorrow…
why anet? what was wrong?
Per some other posts on the forums linking to some Reddit stuff, something about planting seeds in fertile soil (in phase 4 of the backpack) was triggering server crashes that included rollbacks for everyone in the zone. So they really HAD to disable it, fast.
I have one last runestone to get tonight to finish phase 3. I’m hoping the fix will be in relatively soon so I can work on phase 4. If nothing else, I want to open the collection so I know which bosses to kill and how many more runestones I’ll need, regardless of whether I can do seed plantings to finish or not
That’s to make a “personal waypoint” marker (which is an odd name, since it is not actually something you can teleport to or from). In her Rock Star collection video you will sometimes see columns of light with icons at their top. Those are squad markers; since generally she is partied with someone waiting ahead of her for those, I imagine someone else found the way and guided her so she could film the route and not have the stone missing at the end due to her having picked it up earlier.
It doesn’t have to be from your mail carrier, you will see it if someone else is mailing stuff near you using that carrier. And if someone mails something to you using the carrier, you’ll see it over your head even if you’re alone in the wilderness.

The Raid track is needed to receive the shards in the HoT regions. It is not needed to receive them in core regions.
You can do what I did, learn the mechanics of the escort (I did it by being in a guild raid group that tried to beat it for a while) then join a pug that knows how to do it. If you don’t have friends that want to learn the mechanics, there should be training runs in LFG or findable in the Looking For part of the forums. Soon as you beat that boss, you’ve unlocked all the tracks and can xp them up in regular HoT maps without ever touching raids again.
My attempt at making the new Wolf Pelt work.
I think you did great! It fits in and flows very nicely with your other gear.
I agree that I would like lore journeys as part of the elite unlocks.
However, I fear that you are too late in your request. We’re probably under half a year from the expansion’s release. Huge chunks of it are already locked in, no doubt, or at least major concepts and mechanisms are. Tailored lore journeys take a long time to produce, so if we’re getting them, they’re already mostly written. If they’re not already written, they won’t be by launch.
I’m not sure what you mean by re-instauring. Reinstalling? Reinstating?
But the reason they scrapped the dual class system was due to a desire to throw out the balancing nightmare it created. It’s a core design choice on their part that is extremely unlikely to have changed. Elites are their version of it.
And frankly, after years of them reinventing the wheel on a constant basis and each time saying “this time, THIS time we’ve really laid down our foundation and will start adding content on top of it,” I really hope they meant it when they said the mechanics and systems introduced with HoT would be how the game fundamentally works from now on. I’d rather have a lot of elite choices than wait for them to rework things once again. (Though I’m rather sad that we seem to get one per profession per expansion, I really thought it would be something introduced in big patches now and then).
For those of you on Feguson’s Crossing reading this, if you see Originalsyn roaming around or wandering aimlessly in attempt to find a path or specific spot, give me a poke, prod, kick, or shoot me a wink and a grin. (Always in the market for a healthy, helpful, social, and engaging yield too. Just saying.) Well for now that’s all. Like all my other Revnants out there would say….see you in the Mists.
One of the big changes was the implementation of the megaserver. What that means is that the people you see around you are not necessarily from your server, just from your region (NA/EU). The only time everyone around you will be from Ferguson’s Crossing will be when you are wandering in the WvW maps. Well, the only time friendly people will be from FC — there will be two other servers roaming the land as well, and they will hurt you if they can
It’s supposed to be weighted towards you getting on maps holding server-mates (or guildies or friends or party members) when there’s room to do that, but these days server is mostly only relevant in WvW. Open world RP on the unofficial RP servers took a solid hit thanks to that but otherwise it’s been mostly painless as far as I can tell.
Can it be done cumulatively? I’m at 10/12, I gave up after 10-15 minutes of circling at various levels didn’t get me the last two. I’m hoping that when I do the final instance on my second LS alt I can just tag two more orbs.
I agree, but I’ve found that dropping the missile barrier directly on the foe means any slight motion by the mob removes the effectiveness. Plus other players can’t tell it’s there and move behind it as easily if it becomes part of the mob-ground-zero effects.
I doubt DM surfaced subsequent to us going to EB. When was Zinn around? I get the feeling he was contemporaneous with Oola, so quite some time ago. And per his voice recordings, he’s the reason the DM cavern is terraformed. (Per the Druids, not so much. But either way, it’s an established ecology that has been there a lot longer than the past year or less).
The specific action is the snap ground target toggle. I don’t recall precisely what it’s called, I assigned it way back when we first got the option for a toggle (which was a big QoL in using Snap to Target) and haven’t checked since.
What it does is let you set yourself (account wide) to always have a ground target aoe land at the feet of the targeted enemy. Well, at where the feet were when you pressed the button, foes can move, so it means you can’t lead the target. Otoh you can easily drop grenades on a boss while strafing like crazy to avoid his attacks. (This matters to me because I mouse move, so having to get my cursor in the right place to select a target means standing still a moment).
But sometimes you don’t want to have your spell land on the foe’s feet. For example the Druid staff has a floral barrier you can put up where missiles coming through it heal instead of damage. You want that between you and the enemy. So a quick tap of the hot key, drop the barrier where you want it, then tap the hot key again to get assisted ground targeting once more.
- new map seems totally out of place. Green jungle on the ring of fire? Did I miss something?!
If you find all the Zinn’s recorders and listen to them, you’ll find the lore explanation. There’s a short story embodied in those sound bites.
Go into Options. Scroll down in the first tab to Combat/Movement. At the top there is a Ground Targeting with a window on the right that has a drop down list. “Fast with Range Indicator” is my preference. Any ground targeted skill will show the green circle for as long as I hold the hotkey down, and cast the ability as soon as I release the key. I can right-click to cancel using the skill.
I also, in the check boxes below that window, toggle on Lock Ground Target at Max Range so I can’t put the green circle further than I can shoot the skill and Snap Ground Target to Current Target so I will auto-toss the skill at the feet of my current target. (This latter bit you can set a hotkey to toggle on and off, so if you need to put a barrier halfway between you and the target and then start laying aoe atop the target again you can do so. I use Ctrl-S for “swap target mode” in my mind).
I am not 100% sure, since sliders can do a lot to alter a base face. But using the Makeover NPC on one of my human females and focusing on the eye makeup, my guess is it’s not a kit-only face.
I would suggest you take a female human to the makeover NPC and set the hair (which is kit only) to match your shot. Then select the face and scroll right until you see the overly goth made up one with black lips and red/black blotching over the eye sockets. Scroll back left just one click and try the middle right face. See if that looks like the face you’re seeking. To me the eyes and eyebrows look like a match, though it’s hard to tell without being able to angle the face down in the kit view.
Sadly, they’ve told us before that dyeing weapons and backpacks just isn’t doable with the structure of the game code. At least they elected to give us (some) dyeable gliders rather than force the gliders to locked-in colors just to match the back.
Makes sense, Daddicus. The index is just a list of links to other suggestions. Though hmm … it’s missing the QoL thread … Gaile maybe needs to do an edit!
Every time a new cat shows up, there’s a big trial-and-error process with findings posted on Reddit and these forums (and the wiki once the findings are confirmed). Some people do the character-full-of-food approach, others try subsets of food based on cat color since there’s been a pattern found of what type of food cats like based on their fur.
Think of it as a hive mind of a sort
Any one person might not be able to figure it out fast (though I feel like some of the community can, and are so methodical they strike me as probably the best beta testers ANet could ask for) but a thousand people working the problem and sharing what they find can zero in on the correct answer quite quickly.
T3 cultural asura includes head goggles. It’s what Zojia wears (wore?). It also makes you bald and you have to be an asura, but hey. It’s something.
A big problem with housing is what happens when a player with a house leaves the game.
I played Lotro which had housing, and there were complete communities full of empty houses with not a player in sight, simply because the players had left the game.
Unlike characters which can be kept forever if they dont play, because non logged in characters dont appear in the game , the houses of non logged in players do and they stay there forever.
To make housing viable from the perspective of the dev time required, houses MUST cost the player gold on a continuing basis, and most players will hate this.people don’t hate this housing model in Arch Age, why they would hate it here?
Because this game is core-built and marketed as something you can play, walk away from, and come back without having lost anything but the things you could have gained by continuing play. Anything gained by your account is yours forever in GW2 (unless ANet makes a hard call to alter it).
If you spend a good amount of time and resources setting up a house, it’s game-killing for many players to then lose it because they didn’t play for a month. Medical reasons, military deployment, or just had a new shiny thing to do for a little, whatever the reason, if their home is gone on return that’s it, they’re likely gone from the game too. (I know that’s one big reason I left DaoC and LotRO, I lost homes I’d customized).
ArcheAge is a cutthroat griefer’s game. Of course people who enjoy that are in it to fight tooth and nail to hold onto anything they value. I’m glad they have that game to play it … and that I have this game designed against griefing to enjoy in my leisure time.
I hope that answers your question.
If there were/will be Dev responses, they would likely be found in the QoL Suggestions Sticky Thread above.
Good luck.
That thread has been locked for months.
Odd, it seems to have gotten new posts just today. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestions-Quality-of-Life-Changes/first
You should also take a peek through the Players Helping Players subforum, including the stickies there. There’s tons of good advice to find, including questions you may not have thought to ask but once you see them are glad you found the answer. I use similar forums in all my games just to peruse and learn. Even if I don’t understand all the lingo when I start, I get a feel for the possibilities the game offers.
It pings the stashes near you, a little red circle appears on your minimap much as when someone unearths a chest in SW.
However, it has not thus far actually led me to any stashes. It did ping spots I knew stashes were, thanks to having found them on my earlier exploration. It also pinged spots I’m fairly sure I had not yet explored before picking up the detector, and those also held no stashes.
So, either it’s bugged, or it pays no attention to altitude and is pinging something two map levels away from me, or I already found all three stashes in the whole map and only get one shot per account (I did try again with a new detector on another alt, after reset, and still found none. That alt had gotten to the map via the pass scroll rather than via story as I was helping a friend look for druids and didn’t want her to wait on me to do the story).
I’m up to 6 of my shared slots used for these scrolls now (5 maps + the Royal Terrace). While I have the Airship pass on an alt, from before shared slots showed up, I never use it. And tempted as I was by the VB and EB passes, I could not make myself shell out the cash — almost all my gems are cash bought — for things that just would not work for all my alts at once.
I have all possible shared slots and they are used up with mobility (passes and tele-to-friend), chest keys (for 4 HoT maps), and utility (3 infinite tools and a stack of bank expresses). There’s no room for any fun things or even for SW keys, so again, I find myself reluctant to purchase travel items or other account-wide things that I won’t have room to use account-wide. And I’m not looking forward to earning the new map’s eater, though at least I have the bank room for it now that map currencies go into mats.
This is a serious QoL issue for players and possibly is costing ANet money due to our reluctance to buy things we don’t have room for.
One thing I can give feedback on that I hope will change soon™ is the Oakheart’s Reach ability to become a special action key instead of replacing your weapon. It would make traversing the new map much more fluid so the player does not have to drop it to engage in combat.
I thought about this as well. I figured they did it the way they did for a couple of reasons. They wanted to keep the Oakheart’s Reach something you had to choose to do (see the AMA answers for the various implementations of the skill they debated). And there could be conflicts with other special actions, there being only one Special Action available at a time. For instance, if you buy the arcane detector thingie off the heart vendors, when you use it you get a long lasting special action to ping for Zinn’s stashes. (Not that I found a single one of those stashes using it; either it has no vertical range limit or I already found them just by looking around and they never respawn for the account).
My feedback: Story — it feels like we’re back to being given a few tastes of a much more complex story the writers know is going on behind the scenes and don’t have time to tell us. I still enjoyed it, lots of omg’s in guild chat and on Discord as I bit my tongue to avoid spoilers, lots of lore implications, and I’m eager for the next bit.
Map — fun, if rather complex to figure out. My fallback is to get up to the Apex and glide down from there to where I need to go. Definitely varied, big, and full of interesting stuff.
Mastery — winner! Really fun to use and to figure out interesting applications for.
And the main thing I want to thank you guys for, that I don’t think anyone else has mentioned, is the short bit in the patch notes that gave us closure on the DR situation. Just a couple of sentences and we have enough to build on for followup RP. Given your structural limitations on presenting such details in game, it was very thoughtful to provide us those plot beats that way. Thanks!
At least the deus ex machinima is cute. <3
I wonna step on her > < . Tbh i dont hate but it becomes all the more apparent that every plot point is made for her to somehow fix. The fact that she comes out with cheesy lines as if she always knew the outcome makes it worse.
Which brings us back to when she first showed up, talking like she knew Braham and knew they’d be friends before they ever met, with her name that sounds like Time-ee or the first part of Timey Wimey etc from Dr. Who and her golem of very interesting design. There was speculation back then that she came from the future.
She seems a lot less sure of things now, in fact. If she is a time traveler, perhaps the timeline has diverged as she introduces ideas that didn’t happen the first time around …
(all just for fun, I have no horse in this race, unlike my deep desire to have E turn out to be Faren).
No one ever knows when something will come back, only when it last did — which in the GS’ case was in the last week or so.
The next likely time (which is not the only possible time, or guaranteed to happen) will be in August during any anniversary sale they have for the game’s 5th year. Or possibly if Marjory figures more hugely in the next LS episode and her ghostly sword comes into play, ANet will sell to players at that time.
What is a favicon? My FireFox permatab for the forums has a GW2 red “2” logo on it.
I think you can, it’ll just take a little longer. A friend without the mastery was able to jump up to me to get to the back way into the Golemancer’s Tomb, and I’m pretty sure the vista atop a tall jut of rock I spidermanned up to could be reached via gliding down from a higher level of the map.
It’s a totally awesome fun mastery, though, so get it if you can!
Makes you wonder if any orher Gods are disguised as well. Someone suggested the Queen or Anise as Lyssa, which whilst prob full of loopholes, at least the idea has interesting spevulation around it if there is any presumption the other Gods may have diminished.
What I saw was someone suggest that with an “and” not an “or” which is potentially awesome.
I just now completed it, except for two of the mastery communes. The vine-pull is super helpful in getting places or escaping a fight. You can even pull to a high vertical surface and then glide, which opens up ways to reach cliff tops you couldn’t directly move to. I still have to succeed at the dive goggles, and find two of the three communing MPs, and talk to three more druids for a collection, and kill a number of things for achieves, and … and … and … but I at least got the map completion reward! Which had a transmute charge rather than a key, oh well.
Also it’s super fast to get to the Apex via a wp and a thermal tube. From there one can glide down to most everything. I’m only stopping learning the map stuff and seeking the achieves due to fainting levels of hunger .. ta!
I also keep it as a permanent tab (in FireFox for now, we’ll see come November when FireFox nerfs itself and the Tab Grouping addon is nixed). Now and then, somewhat randomly, it will pop up the login box, which as I am on my own private PC I don’t have to type anything, I just click to log in again. Most of the day, however, it keeps me logged in just fine.
I have learned this, though. If I’m just starting a browsing session, best to manually log out and back in again (as I say, it’s just some button clicks, no typing). It hurts when I type something at length and then when I go to Post Reply the forums have decided I’ve been logged in too long and instead of posting my comments, it deletes them and demands a login. Sometimes I remember to ctrl-c my post before hitting Post Reply just in case this happens …
Thanks guys
All very subjective, of course, but for me:
1) Lake Doric. This is the most fleshed out map. It has a ton of side details and it plays directly into local politics (for humans). It’s easy to mentally expand the terrain so the towns aren’t one minute walk’s apart. It just feels like a more representational slice of the world than the other new maps, like it really filled in a gap and expanded Kryta. I also enjoy that I can go in just long enough to nab the peach and unbound magic, or spend my time on some fairly meaty event chains.
2) Bloodstone Fen. This benefits in ranking from having been the first new map in a long while. It’s also a lot of fun to fly around in (the WM air-stuns were never a huge problem for me), gives aerial skills, and is super fast to complete if I have an alt available for it and want a shot at a BL key. That said, I seldom dawdle in the map, it’s aerial skills and unbound magic collection and on to the next unless I spot another daily quickly doable and have time.
3) Bitterfrost Frontier. I like sunny warm places. Also it takes a while to get anywhere in the map, there are huge sections that the lava tubes don’t point at. And the constant freezes and cripples get annoying. That said, it’s another map that’s good for a relatively quick explore for a BL key chance and has some nice rewards for map currency. Also, while compact, it does suggest a more complex terrain than some maps.
4) Ember Bay. It was fun at first but doing the hearts is a lot more tedious than in the other maps and it’s a convoluted enough map that it takes a good deal of effort to complete. I also don’t enjoy rock and lava backgrounds. I pretty much go in, glide the two leylines to get the unbound magic, and go on to the next map unless there’s something fast to do announced in Map. Also the music, while nicely done, feels like it’s about two bars long on infinite repeat.
Which is not to say I think any of the maps are terrible or would in the slightest resist escorting a new person around as they discover things with glee. Heck, if I decide I want a vendor reward out of any of them that I don’t already have, sure I’ll go in and grind the currency. The question asked me to rank the maps with some explanation, and I did it in order of how much fun I have in the map, how much I look forward to hopping into the map.
We’ll see where tomorrow’s new map fits in
not every1 have a high end game pc and they only have a console and love to play this game
i see np why Anet wont ad it ??
and you get a much bigger player base all around the worldonly problem i see with consoles are that they are behind in updates
pc always get first then the consoles
Your questions are answered higher up in this thread. Read and enjoy!
I have a corollary question, since I’m three weeks away from hitting the 15K cap: If the 10 points gained from my final points-giving daily would take me over the cap, will I get whatever subset of points are needed to reach 15K? Or is it all-or-nothing on the 10 points and I will forever lack those AP?
It’s very clearly “He’s on the way.” There’s a slight mushing of the word to partially move it towards the pronunciation you get at the start of “challah bread” but that sounds more like Kas took a startled breath and said “he’s” starting with her exhale. The word starts in the back of her mouth. If I were on voice chat I’d demonstrate what I mean
It could very well come in any random sale, but I’d hazard a guess that the most likely time will be during the Halloween event in October. Keep an eye out between now and then but most particularly watch for it then. It is a seasonal sort of outfit, after all.
We don’t even have to interpret “penultimate” here (clear though the word is). If you watch to the end of the trailer, you see:
I know little of how Steam works, but every time someone posts a request on this forum to have GW2 available on Steam, the common response from those who do know is that Steam takes a sizable hunk of the income for the games it runs. So apparently it’s great for small games that otherwise would have trouble marketing and distributing at all, but terrible for larger companies that are well-known, established, and have easy direct purchase options in place.
I did have a guildie noting that the engie-farm seems to have replaced running up and down the hill, which frustrated him as he is not an engineer and would like to find a farm group that isn’t all-turrets-all-the-time.
I do not personally know if this is a problem as I seldom join leather runs so I’ve not yet seen the engie-farm in action. But if it freezes out a large number of players from the farm, or somehow blocks hill-run groups from doing their thing, then it could become an issue.
I don’t offhand know most of these, but I can tell you that in Swamp after you defeat the boss, there is a little portal you can run over to (on the west side?) and enter to be taken to the Mossman hut. I believe the portal has a yellow object name.
If you go into options you can set a toggle to always show interactable object names so just looking around you’ll see the yellow name tags. Or if that wrecks your immersion, you can flash the yellow names by pressing CTRL, or keep them showing by holding CTRL down. Me, I prefer to save my pinky muscles from the strain of constantly holding CTRL so I happily jumped on the always-show option the day they introduced it.
For Ascalonian woodcutter, that sounds like an NPC, so hold down ALT to show green NPC names and look around. I’m guessing s/he is in a chamber somewhere around the final boss fight, but you may want to check on the wiki for precise directions (the wiki should have answers to all your above questions, easiest way is to search for the collection item you’re seeking and then follow any links to directions to the providing location).
You specifically need to a) own HoT and b) do the intro HoT story step that takes you through Silverwastes into Verdant Brink. You also need to be level 80 or you can’t do the story step. Completing the first bit in VB grants you one Mastery Point and lets you start training the first line of Glider Mastery.
Select that line to train, then get xp in the HoT maps. Explore, do event chains, the first line doesn’t take a lot of xp to get. Once your xp bar is full, open your hero panel and go to the masteries tab and click to spend your point on gliding.
You will now be able to glide. Just jump off something and hold space bar down, it will auto deploy. If you want a prettier glider, you pretty much have to buy one with gems, with limited (and sometimes in-game expensive) exceptions.
Once you learn gliding mastery, all your alts will have it, even brand new low level ones.
On my prior post, I didn’t recall that it had to be a T1 map, hence my discussion of the 20 minute window. T1 is super easy to get, as long as you go right after the top of the hour. That’s just a matter of heeding the clock and doing other things during the rest of the hour, or heck, logging in only for that.
It’s certainly far less frustrating than needing a large meta event to happen/fail before you can get a piece needed for legendary progression, or relying on RNG
At least for this item you have 24 guaranteed times a day that you can get it.
You don’t even need a timer unless your time zone is oddly askew from most. The DT cycle is top of the hour start, then 40 minutes of clear air, then 20 minutes of sandstorm. So if it’s in that 20 minute window, hop on over to check the tier. If the tier isn’t high enough for the Aurene item, check LFG for an organized DT.
Is there nothing else you can do in the whole game until you get that one item? I don’t recall if I got the model on my first trip to DT looking for it or not, but if not I just made a mental note to check the clock now and then and go back there if I noticed the time and had a free moment to wp.
