Well, according to some dialogue in the latest episode there is a new legate minister and he is working hard to undo some of the damage done by Caudecus.
So it seems that the ministry is back in power.
Yes, thank you! I am starting my second play through and just saw this myself. I mean I saw it last Tuesday, but was under time pressure so it took this second run for me to twig to it.
I’m comfortable now RPing that the Ministry persists as an institution.
Be careful. It might be an ok API overlay addon, or it might be an unpermitted game changer addon. If the latter, you can be banned for using it.
I agree that seeing the green bars all the time as an option would be super handy. Not handy enough to be worth losing my account over, though!
We find out more about the expansion tomorrow. I doubt it’ll get down into QoL things like health bars – probably it won’t even give us as much juicy detail as HoT’s announcement did given the new don’t-tell-too-soon philosophy – but there will be many eagle eyes looking through all the provided footage (or listening to the comments) to tease out a lot of detail.
Interesting. So far I’ve only been there on Daredevil so of course noticed nothing of this sort. My next alt to go through the story is a Reaper who uses Rise! quite a bit.
Do the above concerns show up with the little Rise! minions?
People in the map helped me figure out the way up — you want to stair-step up the updrafts on the -left- side of the falls as you face the falls. Problem is the updrafts aren’t permanent, and a couple of them visually blend in to the falling water, so unless you have a super good memory for the pattern you have to sort of luck into getting the up-boosts as needed.
Then the water has actual force and can knock you back off the ledge if you land in it, so watch out for that.
Once up there you go to the north end of the falls and jump up a semi-hidden path to find the spider’s den.
Draconis Mons has enough WP. The only two hearts which don’t have one are for the Inquest base and that one where the Druid escort begins. The former can quickly be reached using the lava tubes with the latter requiring a bit more time by gliding down from the mercenary camp WP.
Slight side note here: The Vigil heart is swiftly reached by thermal tube from the entry WP. The tube just upslope from the WP drops you within yards of the heart vendor.
I just hope we get -two- elites per profession instead of just one. I know we won’t, but it would make my day to hear we would. That was one of the few real HoT disappointments for me after the initial announcement of elites: It originally sounded as if they could add them in over time via interim patches, and then in an AMA they said no, they only come with expansions.
One new one every two years? Probably that’s in line with how other games release new ways of playing classes, but it still saddened me to realize it was the case here.
I just read through the recent AMA. Alas, despite these threads on the forum no one inquired if the Ministry is actually still suspended or if that was a short-term ploy that she didn’t really mean to implement.
Either answer is arguable based on the in-game info and on the Patch Notes blurb.
Some of my RP plots depend on which is the canon answer. Anyone got a way to ask an ANet person? Ping them on Reddit somehow? (No, I cannot do that myself).
Aaaaand this is?
Per the patch notes they restored some scenery to Gilded Hollow that vanished some time after HoT launch. To wit, the skellie in that shot.
I thought that was the skele from the Goonies-esque JP in Bloodtide? I was sure I read he had vanished
Well, it’s rather similar. But if you check the minimap in the OP’s screenshot, you can see it is in Gilded Hollow.
Here’s a video that is linked in the Gemshop Items sticky above. I’d send you to that post but the forums are slow, so here it is directly (not Dulfy for once).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&=&ab_channel=Guildnewsde&=&v=f4rVaAjmDts&app=desktop
If that strangely long link doesn’t work, go to the sticky to get there yourself. If you can’t watch a video at work, go to the sticky for a screenshot one post before the video link one that per the post is from the wiki.
Ctrl-right click (I think?) on a different slot, preferably your 1 slot, to choose that one instead for auto cast. Then it will only auto cast when you are attacking something.
There is also a way to tell it not to auto cast anything but I don’t know it off the top of my head.
I wouldn’t call it “petty” if the info is a duplicate of the leaks, or close to one. It’s not their fault someone seriously trashed the NDA and stole their thunder, nor should they have to give up yet more juicy details that they’d prefer to keep for happy surprises.
If a high school graduate learned in advance she was getting a car as a surprise for her graduation dinner, would her parents then be obligated to go find a better more expensive car, or a separate equally valuable gift, just so she could still be surprised?
That said, I’ve done my best to avoid the bulk of the leaks because I want the surprise. But I couldn’t avoid knowing that the elites were leaked and catching wind of the expected weapons for each, so I admit I’m hoping they not only tell us what they are but give us video of them in action since none of the leaks that I know of included moving pictures. I did love the vanilla profession reveals.
Here’s the video I watched over and over pre-launch, and showed to anyone I could make sit still. This version is perfectly paced, though sadly this upload is very low rez. But at least it still exists: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iBBjk8A2w8
Here is how the machina-mist updated it once the mesmer video came out from ANet: similar but choppier, too fast in the pacing imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOYP4ViTYzU
I just hope there’s similar toothsome amounts of footage showcasing the elites for current fan video makers to use.
I did make HOPE though the details are now fuzzy in my head. But checking the wiki at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Naphthenic_Acid and https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_Wyvern_Matriarch it looks like it should be dropping if your HOPE IV collection is active, and I don’t recall anything like that being a multi-kill endeavor.
Have you made sure to roam around the platform to both the corpse and the loot chest and looted both if given the option? Do you have auto-loot mastery enabled? Did you get gold participation in the kill(s)?
Are you sure you didn’t get it? Type “napth” in your inventory search field. It might have snuck into a bag slot you haven’t noticed.
If none of that yields the acid, then you may need to submit a ticket. If you have screen shots of your kills and what loot you got/didn’t get, that may help.
I’d monitor https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Southsun-Crab-Toss-Offline to find out when it’s fixed.
It does tilt its head back and forth. I suppose it could occasionally stretch out its wings while standing still to add more long-distance-viewable motion. But the lack of constant flapping is a plus for me since I can’t stand flickers and rotational motion (ceiling fans, orbs around avatars, mini wasp wings) that drag my eye in small motion-sickness-inducing jitters.
The bird is restful and beautiful and while I would have liked to get the glider from my once-per-new-chest-season batch purchase, the bird is very nice.
There’s not a ton of waiting involved. At 10 pearls per unlock I had three of the four open as soon as I learned it was an option, just from doing story and some map stuff. The fourth came the next day after a bit more exploration and event and achieve gathering. I left Lyssa for last since it’s easy enough to get there from the entry wp.
I only have one alt in the map so far, though, so I don’t know if it will cost 40 pearls per alt. That could get a tad frustrating.
It took me two minutes to load page one of Bug Reports here.
We’ve known for weeks if not months that they would be getting this expansion to us in the near future. We’ve known far longer than that, pretty much back to early HoT, that they had 70 people working on the expansion.
We also found out a little bit ago that while the remaining legendaries might not come out until after the expansion, per direct statement of ANet we will not need the expansion to craft them.
This has all been discussed quite a bit on these forums over the past year or so, plus there was a humongous spoiler filled leak of the expansion’s content that spilled over Reddit and was referenced in forum threads here (mostly decrying the leak). I’m sorry if you missed it and a little envious of you for your being able to be surprised by the fact of the expansion and by where it will be set.
Never fear, however. You won’t be fooled. You don’t have to buy the expansion and you most especially don’t have to pre-order it. You can wait to see what’s in it and what it costs (rumors are the price point will be rather lower than HoT was) and decide then.
It seems odd to me to call it “immoral” to release an expansion when some players are dissatisfied with the first one. I don’t see morality or ethics at issue here. Not even corrupt business practices. It might perhaps in your view be a bad business decision — certainly they could face some PR nightmares similar to what HoT brought them if things are handled poorly — but it hardly seems something someone would need to bring to confession to receive absolution over.
(Disclaimer: random religious analogy, not advocating any specific religion or any religion at all)
But that’s double the keys you normally get for duplicate items. This isn’t new, this is the standard compensation and waaaay better than just having a useless duplicate.
Aaaaand this is?
Per the patch notes they restored some scenery to Gilded Hollow that vanished some time after HoT launch. To wit, the skellie in that shot.
Let’s see if I can figure out this high-falutin’ spoiler thing so as to provide the solution for those who want it.
Any beam you hit flips the two spots next to it between on/off. So you choose your placement to generate sets of three beams crowded by each other, then hit the middle beam of each trio to turn them off.
It’s not in the patch notes but many of these things will now go into storage! THANK YOU!
So they are bang on the 9 am time, huzzah! (Noon for me, I’m east coast).
Under 25 minutes -IF- they do a 9 am release. Remember, it’ll just be some time today. On occasion a big story release hasn’t hit until several hours later. They’re very good about hitting that 9 am mark as a rule, but it’s not a promise.
Every time there is a release, though, we get threads with people not knowing the time difference and asking “so what time is it now?” The links provided above will help. What you need to do is just once figure out what time it is in your time zone when it is 9 am for ArenaNet (Pacific time). It will then always be that time for you unless either your time zone switches or US daylight savings switches without you. US time switches in November and March, though you want to google it each year to make sure it hasn’t jumped around. This year it changes on Sunday Nov 5. Thus unless -your- time zone changes separately, today’s time difference will be the same for over three more months.
Right now it is coming up on 9 am Pacific. Do your mental math, remember what time it will be top of this hour, and voila. That’s your time for gem store resets and patch releases until Nov 5!
I will try that, thanks.
edit: Most of the alternatives didn’t work but one did! Cedo, I adore you.

I went into Support and checked the FAQ — I’m now following the Client Repair instructions but the repair version is doing the exact same thing. I get this top screen first, then the bottom one, and nothing happens after that.
I logged in just fine earlier today. I have done nothing unusual in the subsequent hours, browsed no fishy sites.
But suddenly the launcher window comes up blank. After a bit it goes to “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying” and just hangs there, even after a computer restart. The only previous threads I can find describing this problem are several years old.
This sucks because I am due to help someone get through more LS2 before LS3-6 drops tomorrow — and of course I also want to play Ep 6!
Halp!

You can also check down in the Community Creations sub forum. Lots of artists post when they have commissions open there, and by default they’re likely to understand the GW2 world.
Are you looking on NA or EU? What general time windows on what days do you have available?
“Thanks for pitching in!”
And no, I think Zojia is actually Taimi’s mentor or at least has some interest in Taimi. Had? Who knows how mixed up her brain is after her time in the jungle.
If they aren’t writing us Zojia stuff due to issues retaining Felicia Day, then a new voice actor might well work given her time in the pods. If they aren’t writing it because of their policy of giving fast easily digested story highlights rather than all the filigree and complexity of a braided novel, with major plot points hitting the cutting room floor (Malyck says hi, or would if he ever showed up again), then it sounds like Day would be happy to do the work if offered.
And who knows, maybe we’ll see Zojia tomorrow. “Emotional catharsis” can mean so many different things (including just that it was an amusing inclusion in the silly doctor’s note and not predicated on expected reactions at all).
Hmm. HoT was sylvari-focused. If PoF is Asura focused, Point of Fusion? Point of Fission? Proof of Fibonacci?
What time zone for that “3-6 ish?” NA can cover about 6 hours of difference if you include Hawaii
What annoys me is the opposite: somehow I get revealed, especially in Bitterfrost, and can’t stealth while gliding away. Those griffins have superb senses, I guess.
This may look like a necro post, but isn’t — this is refreshing this for players that don’t know to look for it and are trying to reconcile the Dulfy guide with the coin numbers in the Achievement panel. I’m just about to go for the Challenger Cliffs coins and had to rummage via google to find this thread.
Should almost be a sticky, really.
Putting in an order for slaying of forum bugs …
Question: Does it work even if you don’t go into the instance? I mean you log in, and you’ve previously set it to blood items, does it indefinitely mail you stuff every day of the type you asked for (assuming you log in each day) or do you have to go into the home instance to trigger it each day?
The problem with that is if you so much as twitch your mouse over the window — and sometimes over another monitor, even — the UI fades back in. I wrestle with that when doing Snips of characters on the selection screen. OP wants to film a loop and might have to do some mouse movement to make the software do its thing (speculation on my part, I haven’t messed with video recording).
I personally like those perimeter effects. I’m not saying you should, but they aren’t exactly blurry. If you zoom in they have some intricate designs in them. Functionally they add a raised area to make them more visible in uneven terrain.
Starlinvf is right, though, most visual/audio filters in the game are applied in blanket fashion, not distinguished by who created them.
I hope they come up with something very like what ESO has, except without the insane mats grind and low item slots per house (each item takes a slot, so a spoon costs you as much allotment as a huge wood platform).
Add in choices of buildings and placement in housing areas thereof, and GW2 housing will be amaaaaazing.
You also can hide the UI while in character selection (not the character themselves, of course, so the F2P idea is great there). Make sure you have it keybound — I use F11 as that is close to the Print Screen button, and the default toggle involves pressing 3 keys at once, ick) — then you can toggle it at will.
Interestingly, if you have the UI hidden with a character visible, you cannot rotate the character. Just a side note, as this matters not at all for your purposes.
I hope they do it this time. It’s a fantastic idea. Maybe there’s some work scheduling problem where they need the devs doing other things after release day, maybe they just like throttling down on the number of people flinging questions at them during the AMA.
But when I have just a few hours to get my teeth into the new episode, and am frantically avoiding spoilers until I’ve gotten through it, I’m hardly going to go watch the AMA develop.
I promise not to add to the questions barrage, ANet! (I don’t have a Reddit account).
People seem to misunderstand my topic, my point is not that there should be an exact number of mastery points, but rather, that the excess doesnt get wasted.
Not possible while keeping to the design that was explained above. If the “surplus” mastery points can give you something you’d want to have, they are not surplus. If not, they are wasted.
This.
Me, I’m happy to have some “banked” MP. When new Ancient Magics come along, designed to enhance play in the new map and episode with which they are associated, I don’t have to go into a holding pattern looking for the points to buy the new tier. A surplus is far better than a deficit, especially when they take up zero inventory room. It’s just a number in one’s Hero Panel.
The last landscape looks like Orr with green plants to me, so I’m guessing the predictions of Ep 6’s map being a section of cleansed Orr terrain will bear fruit. So to speak.
Oh, good catch. I didn’t see those blossoms all had mesmer portals. I guess that explains the high up far back mesmer portal in this:
So with mounts looming on the inevitable Horizon I Felt its time to make a thread about Races and why specifically the Tengu are the best candidate, and why they should be implemented.
So it wasn’t time in 2013? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Tengu-as-a-playable-race
2015? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Tengu-are-great-but-what-about/first#post4715349 (which references other previous Tengu threads)
2016? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/I-want-Tengu-as-the-next-playable-race/first#post5975084 and https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/New-Race-Tengu
Last month? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Tengu-can-still-make-it-as-playable-race
Pretty much all your points (and the support for and counters to them) have been made in many previous threads. It’s not suddenly time now.
Though you do differ in one regard, you now state that if they can implement mounts (which may have been leaked but may not turn out to be what MMO players think of as mounts per se), then they can do the — in your eyes — much easier task of implementing a new race.
I don’t agree with every design choice from the ANet team. But I never base my opposition on presumptions that I have any idea what is easy and what is hard for them to do. (The only time I did something along those lines, I huffed and puffed and pontificated at my fellow players that they could not give us core map gliding due to the amount of world redesign required. I was so wrong).
As to Tengu, I’d gleefully play one and set up tons of RP background and plots for him/her. But the arguments against adding a race that I’ve seen in the forums have convinced me otherwise. Not the clipping and such, pshaw to that says I, but the essentially cosmetic nature of it with the requirement of creating new starter zones and figuring out PS integration, yeah, those tell me I’d rather see the resources going to other types of new things. I could be wrong, it could be something ANet is striving to attain, but I thiiiiink there was an ANet comment as to the impracticality of committing resources to a new race.
What’s not clear to me is if she followed through on the suspension. She said she was suspending the Ministry, which triggered an immediate insurrection. This was evidently her plan to get the traitors to tip their hand, and it worked.
But did she leave it suspended? Did she actually suspend it at all or simply use the announcement as a trigger without meaning it in actuality? All we get in postscript so far is “The White Mantle launched a surprise attack on Divinity’s Reach. Betrayed from within and assaulted from without, the city fought a battle on two fronts. Queen Jennah rose to the occasion, revealing just how powerful a mesmer she is, and with a monumental effort on the part of the humans and their allies, the city broke the siege.” From https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-May-2-2017/first#content
So it could have been a bluff. The loyal Ministers may be trucking right along even now, no state of emergency having truly been declared. If any of you have Reddit posting skills/abilities (I do not), it might be worth asking there since we seldom get lore answers in these forums.
From the first link cedo gave you: "Guild Mission Preference may be viewed or changed prior to mission reset time by a guild member with the “Mission Control” privilege by clicking the white cog near the top-center of the missions tab of your guild panel. It is fixed for the entire week." What this means is you want to take that action now, before reset, so that as of the next reset you only ever get PvE missions.
There are three main types you’ll get in the “Easy” category: Bounty, Rush, and Trek. Of these, Trek is the easiest if you have at least a couple of people who have all the Pact Tyria waypoints. You bring up Dulfy’s guide in another window (google Dulfy Guild Trek and it’s pretty much the top hit) so you can scan through the list of locations and get to them fast. One person can do multiple locations. There is a timer — 5 locations in 15 minutes. So really 2 people can very leisurely split the 5 spots and beat the timer. You go to the location as per the clue (Dulfy’s guide being super helpful in telling you just where to look) and stand on a glowing gold disk and press F. Soon as you see credit pop up, tell your guildies which one you’re going to next so there isn’t duplicate effort, and wp to it. Only people repping your guild can see and collect the targets.
Bounty is next easiest — odds are you will either have to find Poobadoo in Kessex or Triallian in Ebonhawke. Google Dulfy Guild Bounty to find a guide that shows the paths the targets follow, as you must track them down and kill them inside the time limit. However, other guilds may have them as a target as well and as long as at least one person repping your guild tags the kill, it counts. So they can be shared, and people call out in Map chat for help spotting them.
Rush will take the most learning. Here you go to the daily race spot, trigger the Rush, interact with the pole to become a creature, and run the course through all the hazards. You’ll need … 15? … completions even on Easy. However, if you can find a larger guild doing the Rush, you just need to launch the mission for your guild and get at least one repped person to the end. As long as 15 people finish in time, every participating guild gets credit. But learning the route through the paired flags and the creature skills and remembering when to ping to spot traps means you’ll be very lucky to one shot it your first time. It helps if there are non-transformed people killing mobs along the route.
Good luck!
Oh, Headcase will still have to choose, if s/he is only now reaching the 4th birthday for the first time — unless I’ve misremembered and it’s a game anniversary gift rather than an account anniversary? Gah — is it account based or does it require having a character that has existed that long?
Anyway, I think odds are Headcase still only gets one choice, it’s just that there will be more information as to the importance of the choice once the 5th birthday folks get theirs.
What happens if the mission fails? Guild Hall reverts to normal just like no invasion had happened? That would feel odd. Guild Hall becomes contested territory until the mission succeeds? That would be super annoying to anyone just wanting to use the hall.
four year old thread being necro’d yet not being disabled????
It’s not necro’d, it’s an ongoing thread with a singular purpose that gets input at varying rates. Sometimes weeks go by, sometimes hours. But it’s not like the last post was 4 years ago.
I’d post some of my current looks but I’m not sure I haven’t already posted them Thanks to outfits I’ve mostly settled on armor looks for my alts and I get variability via outfits rather than transmutes. It’s been a while since I did much of an armor change, other than putting Foefire Wraps on my revenant charr.
