Orr is supposed to be this very difficult battlefield against Zhaitan’s forces. As for the terrain. Remember Orr was recently underwater, so there will be a lot of large coral-like cliffs and drop offs that you might see in an underwater location.
The main reason that the WPs are always contested is because the zone is so difficult to travel and the Events reset so quickly that people rarely venture there and certainly don’t even bother doing events to unlock WPs outside of the temples, if there is a group doing them.
I’ve 100% completed with two characters now and I can tell you that when I think back on Orr I have horrible memories of how dense the enemies are, how difficult it is to traverse, and how annoyingly tough the enemies actually are. It really does stick in my mind as a battlefield and/or a homebase for Zhaitan’s forces. So in that respect I guess Anet succeeded.

So unless there is a required fashion show in-game, I believe nothing is “requiring” us to grind.
Except, you know, ascended gear.
It can be a grind, that’s true, but the longest portion is the time-gated stuff which you can’t call a grind. Using myself as an example, I never grinded for an ascended weapon. I just played the game normally, did WvW, dungeons, temples, bosses etc. that I normally did before Ascended stuff. At this point, without grinding one second, I have enough mats to start and finish the Ascended weapon time-gated components.
That’s the hardest part really. Once I get my Ascended weapon (which will have been months later I realize) I will have gotten it literally without grinding.
So, no, Ascended gear is not a grind. It’s only a grind if OMG I WANT TO HAVE IT NOW CAUSE ITS MY MONEY AND I NEED IT NOW!
Everything is a grind if you want to accelerate the process.
If you don’t mind dragging it out over a long period, then it won’t be a grind.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Yes, found out very early on that Anet has a month spending cap on saved credit cards.
Could you elaborate on this? I’m not familiar with what you are referring to.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Interesting, it wouldn’t really bother me. It seems like that every poster who posted ‘’I am rank X, on leaderboards’’ are becoming tired of the grind, but they still put value into their rank X and wouldn’t like anybody who is motivated enough to catch them up, thus suggesting putting a cap on daily AP.
I sympathize more with the completionists.
I used to think it was because they didn’t want people to catch up to them, too, but after I realized that those at the top of the leaderboard will do all of the available dailies, cap or no cap, it started to really seem to me to be more about QoL than anything. No one is catching them. They will all do every LS achievement and every daily at minimum anyway. What they are asking for is a cap so that their entire GW2 experience isn’t just grinding dailies. They will do it if they have to, but they really don’t want to keep having to do it all day. I use the phrase “have to” very lightly as it has been established they are choosing to do this on their own.
I say cap it as long as it doesn’t affect the rest of the playerbase.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Gotta say, you AP hunters make a decent argument, I’m starting to see where you’re coming from. It’s very easy for the vast majority of us who don’t AP hunt to have no problem with daily AP cap, because odds are we will never hit it anyway, so who the heck even cares.
I can understand how those that do 100% completion on games and apply that gaming style to GW2 in the form of AP hunting would be impacted greatly by raising the number of dailies. You feel compelled to get everything you can, I get it, and adding more dailies only means that players like you will be compelled to complete those new dailies as well, detracting from the rest of the stuff in GW2 you could be doing.
Where you lose me, and most other people in this forum, is the fact that this is a chosen gaming lifestyle.
I do, now, however, support some sort of AP cap on the daily. From the daily I typically get 12AP (4 for PvP, 8 regular). I consider myself a casual player. I get on, pick the 5 easiest to complete for the laurel, hop in PvP for minimum 3 matches, but typically 5, then hop into WvWvW (unless a crazy queue time) and often get a couple of the WvWvW dailies done in the course of the session.
This typically is a 2hour process: 15min for first laurel 5, 45min for 3 matches PvP, 1hr WvWvW (which I’m sure would be faster if I did WvW strictly to knock out the dailies, but I don’t).
If a cap were to be put on the daily AP, I feel it would need to be above 12/day. I get 12 a day actually doing what I enjoy, I sure as hell don’t want to have my AP capped to below what I get in a day not grinding it. I feel 15 is a fair cap. It’s still high, but it’s capped.
If you want to hit a cap you should have to go out of your way, not hit it through the course of normal non-AP hunting play.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Timing evades requires player skill, especially against human opponents. Plus you can still see them which prevents them from simply resetting the fight if you gain the upper hand.
There will always be people who dislike a change, but people complaining about how they got outplayed by a guy who effectively timed evades shouldn’t be used as a reason to prevent good changes.
It requires skill if you have only two evades at your disposal. If you have, conceivably, unlimited evades, or let’s say a lot of evades (10+), then it really is a matter of you evading a bunch of times in a row while the enemy blows their cooldowns, then hitting them with a bit of burst, then dodging a bunch again.
If anything it would make it harder for players to kill Thieves because you would have to purposefully time your attacks better to not waste big skills on one of their many, many evades. And also, instead of them disappearing and running away, you’ll be able to watch in anger as they blink, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge, dodge away from you and still escape anyways.
I’d rather a Thief goes invisible and me run in tight circles swinging my GS around waiting for him to pop up than for a Thief to be able to perma-evade or close to perma-evade my attacks. But that’s just one man’s opinion.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Almost all the players that make these threads are in the top 100. I’m #43 in NA right now.
I thought the forums were supposed to be a place of constructive conversation and you among others are remaining quite hostile over something you claim to care little about.
I too can do 8-10 dailies in an hour or less, on certain days, but it’s the remaining annoying ones that take so long. Dungeon completer, story step, fractal, most of the LS dailies. Lots of those take a bit of time and eventually they all add up to more time than they ought to. I do enjoy doing dailies to an extent, and it is what gets me online every day, but if it weren’t for that I would spend a ton more time in dungeons, fractals, and WvW. Hell I might even farm or spend more time in the Living stories than just to do the achievements and/or earn the rewards.
It’s not about making anything more or less competitive, especially if it doesn’t affect or influence you and your fellow non-hunters.
Well your opinion has now been weighted more in my eyes since you are in the top 100. I just don’t know why you don’t just stop yourself at 10 dailies then? If it isn’t about competitiveness and more about time spent doing dailies, then wouldn’t it not matter if there was a cap? I can only assume you feel compelled to do as many dailies as humanly possible every day so you can a) pass the person ahead of you on the leader board and/or b) not lose your place on the leader board.
If it really was all about time investment, then you can easily self-impose a cap without needing Anet to do it. I think it really does boil down to competition and that it is taking way too much of your time to remain competitive/keep your #43 spot.
I’ll try to ease up on my hostility, I didn’t realize I was becoming hostile in my previous posts.
Either way, I would be unaffected. Like I said I’m sitting at 10k AP and maybe do 8 dailies a day (plus PvP daily, gotta get my PvP in, but that’s mostly for fun). If they capped it I wouldn’t notice; I just don’t get why it should be Anet’s job to limit players’ time doing activities that are completely chosen of a player’s own free will. If you find the time requirement high, then don’t do it. You will suffer via leader board rank, but many would consider that to be how life works.
But it is a video game, so, I wish you the best of luck in getting a daily AP cap. If I see it in a future update, I’ll think to myself “Atta boy, Hellmasker, atta boy…”
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
No OP I don’t, as I’m not daft enough to buy gems with real money or play a game that requires rent money.
Daft for spending real money on the gemstore of a game that costs nothing to play besides the initial box purchase? Let’s say someone spends $20/mo on the gemstore. Alright, now let’s assume someone buys a cup of coffee every morning on the way to work (let’s assume everyone here has a job). Let’s say the coffee costs them $3.00. A typical work-week we’re looking at $15/week —>$60/month. Hmmm, which is a bigger waste of money…..
If you buy coffee from a coffee shop or buy fast food regularly you are much more daft than if you spend some money every month on a game you enjoy. Retail is for suckers.
I agree, both examples are daft, so I don’t do either.
Touche….
Well, I suppose you are the one person that doesn’t spend any money frivolously. I do not envy you. I love frivolity.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I think that the steal function needs to be completely redesigned and the stealth access needs to be equal for all medium armor classes (either less for thieves, more for rangers/engineers, or a combination of more and less).
Thief survival should come from evades, not stealth.
And then we would be having a forum discussion on how Thieves have too many evades and its impossible to land an attack.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
-eventually you will see players just buying the best gear when they hit max level. so yes, you will be able to dump huge amounts of real money into this game to instantly have better stats than most players. yes, this is intentional. yes, they want your money. yes, there will be a pay 2 have the highest stats option because it generates profit for anet.
-there will be level increases and higher stat gear introduced in the future so this money making cycle will continue.
I think you underestimate how many people absolutely do not even consider buying gems to convert to gold an option. So if you are implying that making precursors more available will mean legendaries will be cheaper and thus people will just buy gems to convert to gold to buy them, then you, sir, have not thought it through.
Last I checked 20$ = 80g. This obviously fluctuates on the market. Let’s say a legendary costs 2000g right now, that’s roughly $500. IF precursors become so plentiful that legendary supply skyrockets and prices fall to let’s say 1200g, that’s still $300 at current exchange rates for someone to buy a legendary. I think it’s fair to say that the typical player of GW2 will never even consider dropping that kind of money for one item. The ones that do can already afford the $500 it would currently cost to get one, so I think there would be absolutely no change. The only thing you will see is more people actually getting their legendaries. The ones, like me, who have literally every Gift you need minus the precursor. Plus the more people convert gems to gold, the lower the gem to gold exchange rate gets, making it even more expensive to buy with gems.
I just don’t think it will impact things the way you think it will.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
As has been stated in the thread before, it’s a playstyle. It’s a completionist habit. It’s how I want my account to reflect me as a player. One idea put the cap at 8 or 10 points, so that those who did their 5 could get their rewards, and myself and fellow hunters could get our full +8/10. It’s about the leaderboard to an extent, sure, but as the op stated, 4hours just on dailies isn’t a new thing for me either. Should ANet go through with the new dailies, and without putting a cap, I will try to earn all of them every day as best I can, just like I do now, and just like so many of my fellow AP hunters do and will.
The fact that its a playstyle, if anything, should support no cap. What about those that can do 8-10 dailies within an hour, I know I’ve done it before. If that was what they enjoyed doing, now they get less of it. So, what now, they log off? Maybe play WvW or PvP if they even like to do that? Maybe doing the dailies is what gets them logging in every day.
It seems to me that you want to be able to be competitive, but to reduce the amount of time investment required to remain competitive and/or cap the amount so the really competitive players (top 100) who have the time to pour into AP hunting aren’t able to get so far ahead.
I think the people that we should be surveying are in fact the top 100 on the leader board. If the majority of them want a daily AP cap then it should be considered. If they want it uncapped then leave it as is. The top 100 will essentially never change unless one goes on vacation. They will hit every LS achievement and do every daily possible regardless.
I mean, keeping it uncapped, if anything, benefits everyone because if you really wanted to you could work harder every day and get to the next achievement chest faster. If you burn out you can take it easy, and then get your second wind and grind out dailies for another two weeks to make a dent.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
A thousand times this. I fully support limiting the earnable daily AP, and have for quite a while now.
But why? Because you can’t control yourself without a cap? Because you can’t compete against other people that have more time and dedication to go beyond what you are able to complete?
I just don’t understand how it affects you or anyone else how much AP you can get in a day. Infinite, 5AP, who cares, how does it affect you? If you are competing for AP leader boards then it is assumed by literally everyone that you need to be able to play all the time. It sounds like you guys want to be competitive on the leader boards, but not want to have to dedicate all of your time to it. It doesn’t work like that in any competitive atmosphere, so why would they cap it here?
Plus if they did cap it, how would anyone ever be able to move up or down on the leader boards? Assuming the #1 guy did the maximum allowable daily AP and everyone else on the boards did it as well, what would even be the point? You’d have to hope someone above you missed a day or something.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I get what OP is saying, because I used to feel like that until I actually stopped to think about what is actually required of these LS events. Things to consider:
a) LS events stay at minimum 4 weeks, and in many cases 6-weeks.
b) There are dailies that progress the LS meta achievement: no joke I’ve completed entire metas without doing anything except for the dailies.
c) The AP gain from the LS achievements have been drastically reduced. Not many give more than 3AP these days.
d) Once you have the meta achievement, if you care to get that, there’s nothing really driving you to do the rest of the achievements. If you are stressing over the last 8-12AP you could get, that’s on you. Because if you aren’t competing on the leader board, who really cares?
So for example, the Nightmare Tree LS. I just finished the meta and didn’t even know I was close. I don’t even have half of the achievements needed for the meta, I just got it from dailies. I looked at the rest of the ones I would need and they wouldn’t even net me 20AP, so I’m not going to chase after them. Why would I?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
So…you want to be on the leader board, but you find it boring having to do dailies to stay on the leader board, and now they are adding more dailies so now you feel you will be even more bored trying to stay on the leader board.
Have you ever considered, I dunno, not competing on the leader board? Then you wouldn’t have to do any dailies. Ever. I have 10k AP ankitten ot on the leader board and I am happy as a clam. I think you’re playing the game wrong.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
You can exchange gems for gold and buy a full exotic set.
You’re really reaching. Considering you can farm out a full exotic set in a matter of days, less depending on your playing habits, and the person that outright bought it will still have no stat advantage over you.
I have a feeling many of you claiming the P2W scenario have never played a P2W MMO.
One where the highest tier gear is only available in the cashshop and its stat increases are hugely significant over anything that can be earned in game. And this gear costs hundreds, in some cases thousands of dollars (USD). That’s P2W. And its not an exaggeration. Look at games published by PWE. Their flagship game has the highest tier endgame gear direct in the cashshop as its only method of acquisition. This gear is hugely more powerful than what’s farmable in game. And it costs somewhere around $1200USD to buy it. Plus the method to ‘refine’ this gear to even higher and more devastating stats is also only in the cashshop and costs hundreds more to max refine. You can then take this gear and smash anyones face in PvP and steamroll any PvE when any player not able to charge would struggle or fall to being one-shot in PvP everytime they encounter a cashshop player.
You dump huge amounts of real money into a game to instantly be better than anyone who cannot charge and have a massive stat advantage over them, that they can never achieve in the game itself.
There is nothing in GW2 that falls into P2W. Cosmetics are not winning anything. Conveniences are not winning anything.
It’s really simple. He can’t afford to spend money on the gemstore, he wants items from the gemstore, he sees others getting items on the gemstore he wants but can’t afford, so now he blasts the system and says it’s P2W. In reality he is really only saying that he doesn’t think its fair people can spend money to get something he can’t get. The P2W thing is just a buzzword to get people talking.

What the OP was trying to say is, since gw2 is revolved around cosmetic items as end game and end game items are pretty much bought with real money (given the gold to gem conversion rate) it is essentially P2W from a cosmetic perspective. Did that help you understand what he was trying to say more?
To further add, the very existence of gem to gold conversion makes this game P2W if y ou look at it from a cosmetic perspective.
Wait, how are the skins end-game items again? My level 15 character has gem store skins on, does that mean she’s level 80 in BiS now?!?!!?!!?!?!?!!?111?!!/11 AWESOME SHE WINS THE GAME

Most of those items in your collections hold value better than gold. Unless you intend to spend it immediately i’d advise against this.
This could be true, however, I can tell you, for example, Onyx Lodestones used to be worth 1g50s 8mos ago and are only worth 75s currently, so it isn’t always the case that they hold better value.
If you legitimately don’t need the materials anymore (i.e. all crafts are at least 400), then I say go ahead and clean house for the gold injection. What else is that stuff doing but gathering dust?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I remember wiping on that encounter 4-5 times at the original release before mastering it. You’re probably playing with people who hadn’t done the fight at all so you get to experience the wipes all over again with people new to the fight.
I’m confident the success rate will go up the longer it is available. Practice making perfect and all that crap.

If you’re like me you probably just hit “Deposit Collectibles” and then either TP anything that doesn’t disappear from your bag or just straight up sell to vendor.
Well, last night I decided to finally clean out all of those collectibles (minus level 400 craft components—still planning on using those for 400-450). I would only recommend this once you’ve gotten all of your crafts to 400 for obvious reasons.
It took about 45min of posting on the TP because of some kind of spam limiter (I’m guessing), but after all was said and done I ended up 80g richer.
Why am I posting this? I don’t know, I thought it might be interesting. The last time I cleaned out my bank was probably last December, so it was almost a full year of items collected. No farming, just general playing and salvaging. I have quite a bit of level 400 components still, so I’m sure if I sold absolutely everything I’d be in the 100-120g range, but I would rather use those on leveling up crafting personally.
Anyone else clean out their bank collectibles completely for cash? How much did you make?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
This should apply to literally every skin in my opinion. I’m talking “skins” and not items like dungeon armor. If you finish a meta for Living Story, those skins especially should go into the skins tab. Otherwise you’re stuck with an entire bank tab filled with skins you may or may not use. Of course filling your bank = people spending money to expand the bank, so it is in Anet’s best interest not to make space-saving changes. It’s also probably why stacks are of 250.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Rule of thumb: If it says [Group Event], avoid it if you aren’t confident in your abilities. Those that want a challenge can always attempt to solo the group events, if you are a normal, casual player then just ignore anything that is a group event unless others are in your immediate vicinity. The majority of events are luckily not group events.

I just finished my second 100% completion and both times got 2x exotics. Pretty sure you are supposed to get exotic gear for completion.

Ok, you know what? If the endgame in GW2 is getting skins, and skins are sold only for gems, then i can call it P2W. The reason is simple: ’’winning’’ isn’t a thing about killing others in this game…is about looking better. You say ascended made this a vertical progression? C’mon. I have as much gold as a bum, but i have my ascended weapons…you can CRAFT THEM. And the sum of stats(among them) is always the same, so that’s NOT vertical progression.
Then how would you explain someone like me who thinks the gem store skins aren’t as good as skins you can obtain via other means. Buying the gem store skins = winning? How? I don’t even like them, if I bought them, would I be better off? I would be worse off because now I would be out money on items that are inferior to others. It’s too subjective to say that because the end-game of GW2 is skins and that some skins are offered on gemstore, that therefore the game is P2W. If they sold all skins (dungeon, legendary, ascended, cultural, etc) on gem store, then yes that would be P2W, but it isn’t like that so the argument is extremely weak at best.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
You think I’m lazy because i don’t want to level the same class back to 80 that I did once before? You think I’m lazy for wanting to abandon the character I have over 2k+ hours on because I was unlucky enough not to see race specific abilities as important back in august 2012? You think I’m lazy because id rather keep the 2 legendaries I already have on my first elementalist rather than start it all over again?
I don’t think you’re lazy, bud. But I personally don’t find the race specific abilities to be that important. Not so important to warrant a race change. What ability do you want?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I don’t even think about levels, so I guess I don’t look forward to them at all. I just explore each zone doing dynamic events.
If you spend your time just doing the story mode quests, you will get pretty bored pretty fast.
Also, for combat: Each weapon gives you different skills. That includes off-hand. If you find you are only using two skills (and that only 2 are attack skills), then it sounds like you may want to try a different weapon combo. Assuming you aren’t an elementalist you can also switch between weapons with tilde. That switches you from 5 available skills (excluding function key skills) to 10 available skills, plus your utility skills. You really don’t need more than 15 skills at your disposal at any given time.

At minimum I spend $20/mo on gem store. So, yes, I do spend more per month than a sub. I enjoy this game more than current subbed games, though. When/if a new subbed MMO comes out that is actually worth playing, I would consider that. ESO isn’t cutting the mustard for me, we’ll see about EQN, but I have a feeling it is going to get pretty old pretty fast unless they have some paradigm shifting features.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Since everyone wants compensation for gold spent, I would like compensation for gold not received because they switched ticket skins to sellable after I used mine. My fused GS is going for over 300g on the TP and if they would have been sellable when I got mine I would never have used the skin.
I see where you’re going with this, and in all honesty they probably should consider something like that, it would be the most fair.
I mean you get a cool skin, it’s un-tradeable, so you reluctantly use it just so it isn’t wasted and then later they make them tradeable. The only problem with this is that one could argue you could have just banked it instead of used it and then still been able to sell it. Unless your version remained untradeable, which then for sure you could ask Anet to at the very least swap your skins so you can sell it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I think we both agree that racial exclusivity was very important in us pursuing our respective races’ cultural armors, right? You just place more importance on other sylvari not being able to afford it, while I don’t care about other humans wearing T3 as long as it’s only humans wearing it.
And I also think we both agree that singling out human light T3 armor to have its racial exclusivity removed was a bad move, right?
Sooo I’m not sure why we’re arguing
It doesn’t feel like arguing, it feels like us having a healthy conversation, which is rarer and rarer these days. You are exactly right with your description of my placing importance on not only it being race exclusive but also cost (or even time) prohibitive.
So for an example, let’s say someone worked hard to get their Arah set; poured time into running the paths to get the tokens to get all of the pieces and some weapon sets. Would it be cool if they released the Arah set for purchase in the gemstore for 800gems (let’s also assume the Arah set was awesome, because honestly I’m not even a fan, the point is the time)? Wouldn’t it be reasonable for the person that worked hard for those skins to be upset that now anyone could get it even if they hadn’t stepped in Arah? I know it’s a slightly difference scenario but the premise would be the same. This removes the race restriction, but it is certainly time prohibitive and I’m sure if that person knew that later on that same exact set, maybe with swirling black or green flames added, would be available for 800gems, they probably wouldn’t have bothered farming Arah in the first place.
Exclusivity has value in and of itself, that’s been true forever. Removing exclusivity from something will devalue it. It’s like if you bought some cool item that was #5 of only 500 ever made, and then a year later they decide to do another run of 2000 of them. Suddenly your item is less valuable. Watch the Antiques Roadshow.
Look, I like the T3 light armor skin, and I like the new gem store skin. I just feel it would be honorable if Anet possibly offered those that purchased T3 human light the option to replace their current skins with the new ones if they choose. It would have to be done in a way where the skins only worked on matching cultural equivalents so that they couldn’t have their cake and eat it, too.
EDIT: Other than the first paragraph, this post is directed to the forum in general, and not towards Glenstorm.

(edited by Draknar.5748)
Did you intentionally leave out that you wanted the armor because you like the way it looks, or does that really take a back seat to the idea that fewer people will have that armor set?
I guess we’re playing different games, because the most common sets I see are dungeon armor and cultural armor. The suggestion that cultural T3 is too expensive for a lot of people does not have any basis in reality, in my experience. Everyone’s got it, and those who don’t are working on getting it.
Not intentionally, no. But for example: I like the way the Norn cultural heavy looks. In fact I like it a lot and think it is one of the best looking for them available. I won’t get it for my character though because I see so many people in that armor. I would just be a big giant dude in the same armor as that other big giant dude, maybe with different coloring. I factor that stuff in to my skin choices personally.
Now, I won’t go out of my way to choose an exclusive skin that looks horrible just because it is exclusive, I’m not crazy. But I would go out of my way not to get a skin because I see it so frequently, as in the example I just gave.
Exclusivity and look are both important to me. Of course I could find a look I like without it being exclusive, you know by just being creative with my mix and matching. But when you shell out serious gold for skins with the assumption being that at the very least only your race could have it, and at the most only your race and those with the money to spend on it, you expect to have them remain somewhat exclusive, or at least not available to literally everyone.

Some weeks I get nothing, this week I got a level 62 exotic chest piece that dropped from a WvW kill while I was leveling an alt. It sold for 12g….yea….I was shocked at the price for that one. Also got a level 62 exotic scepter or something that sold for 5g. I mean, who the heck needs exotic gear at level 62, and for more than level 80 exotic gear lol. Whatever, it was nice picking up the 17g-ish from the TP afterwards..
A little off-topic, but not really that strange. Next time look at the Rune or Sigil in the exotic equipment drop; Chances are people are paying for that and not the item itself, and by just selling the item itself instead of salvaging the components first you may have lost out on some money.
For example, if an item comes with a Rune such as Superior Eagle, Divinity,. Traveller or Scholar, the price for the item is going to sky-rocket no matter it’s level. The same goes, for a lesser degree, for weapon sigils. Ones to look out for are popular Sigils such as Superior Sigil of Battle, Superior Sigil of Fire, or Superior Sigil of Bloodlust. At times these Sigils have fetched 5g or more each (though Fire has gone down alot in recent months, presumably due to a named unique item that drops in Champion Bags natively hosting the Fire Sigil).
For example, the other day I got a level 68 Exotic piece of Armour with a Superior Rune of Divinity in it. I could have sold it straight up for 10g, But instead I salvaged it; Then sold the Superior Divinity Rune for 11g, and gained some Dark Matter, Ectos and Mithril in the process.
I didn’t even think of that. Now I feel I was shortchanged lol.

The primary goal wasn’t to have a unique look, it was to have a uniquely human look. I bought human T3 light because only humans had access to the armor. I couldn’t care less how many other humans had it too, as long as only humans had it. This humans-only exclusivity is what made this armor valuable to me. That was the point of cultural armor; it was made special not just by its looks but also because only fellow members of your race could have it, and I know I’m not the only one who thinks this way.
If Anet suddenly now believes that everyone should have access to cultural armor regardless of race, why weren’t other races’ T3 armors re-skinned? That human tier 3 light armor is “the best look” is entirely subjective; that it was hitherto human-exclusive is entirely objective.
Again, my primary goal and your primary goal were not the same. I purchased T3 cultural for two reasons. One was because only Sylvari could have it, two was because it is so expensive the majority of Sylvari players don’t even bother, which makes my character look more unique.
Everyone has different motivations. It really is a case of agreeing to disagree. I would still be upset if they made it available on the gemstore but exclusive to Sylvari. Well less upset and more annoyed, but I would still feel it was a poor business practice.

I planned on getting T3 Human for my elementalist human upon reaching level 80, but now i’m going to get it at half the price, plus it’ll even look cooler with the fire on it!
Don’t ruin this for me!
So for all the people who worked hard and paid full price for that armor, they shouldn’t complain because it will ruin it for you? Wow… Just… Wow.
If you buy 1kg of bananas for 20 euro today just to see it in promotion tomorrow in half the price, will you boycott the supermarket, lol
So many delusional people on this board …
I’m going to attempt an analogy using your bananas, it may or may not make a lick of sense, because we’re talking about bananas which are consumables and not something static (an exclusive car would be a better analogy IMO).
Let’s say you buy 1kg of bananas from a company that has exclusive patents on bananas that are supposed to be rare bananas that let’s say make you extremely healthy somehow, maybe it magically builds muscle and definition, thus they are priced high and not only that, the bananas are so rare that any other person that eats them would be poisoned and died, thus only people from your country could eat these amazing bananas….you know what, I can’t make the banana thing work lol it’s bananas for christ’s sake.
Let’s go with a car: let’s say you bought an exclusive car only available to your country. It was marketed as only being available to your country, and not only that, it is illegal to export the car and you must have proof of citizenship to even own this amazing car. They sell this amazing guaranteed exclusive car to you for 500000USD and you drive it around and everyone in all of the other countries are jealous because man what an awesome car that they can’t have! Now, one year later, after rocking your awesome exclusive car, that same company comes out with a new car, that looks identical to your car, but now has a slick custom paint job, maybe fur-lining on the inside if you’re into that, and not only that, it is now available to everyone in the world regardless of country, AND they are only charging 100000USD for it.
Now, you could argue that that’s capitalism, but I can tell you the customers that bought the first car would have a decent basis to open a lawsuit for false advertising. Their purchase was based on a specific selling point, they could argue that had they known it would be available at a later date for less money and that it would not be exclusive after all that they would never have purchased it in the first place. A good lawyer could win that case.

Do whatever you enjoy. Ten hours at a slower pace but having fun is better than one hour of ultra grind and quitting out of boredom.
I think he’s having fun at this point and just wants to not be broke and/or wants to buy something expensive (precursor). If you don’t grind for money and just played and sold what you pick up you can still have some income (generally for me it’s like 10g/week if I literally don’t try to make money and/or don’t get lucky drops), but sometimes you want to accelerate your income.
Your weekly income is completely RNG based anyway if you don’t farm. Whatever, it was nice picking up the 17g-ish from the TP afterwards.
Dungeon runs are guaranteed income at the very least.

The whole reason people even bother buying the T3 cultural sets is because of exclusivity. At the very least you know (knew) that no other race can have it, so that reduces the number of possible characters with your set by a huge %.
This is where I stop following the argument. Is this true for many people? Your primary goal is to have a unique look? I don’t think so. If that was the case you’d see more people running around in godawful generic armor sets that no one uses. The goal is to have the best look. For many people, the best look for clothies is human T3. Stand in LA for 15 minutes and watch people run by, it’s clear that people care more about having this look than they do about how many people have this look.
Yea….we will have to agree to disagree here. “Best” look is completely subjective. Most people will want to have a look they think is “best” but that doesn’t look like every other person. That’s why mix and match is so popular. As someone that has T3 cultural armor, I can speak from my own experience in the sense that I got it for it’s unique look and that most people don’t want to spend the money on it and thus it is exclusive. Obviously I can’t speak for everyone, but I have a feeling that exclusivity has something to do with it.
It’s the same reason people that had exclusive weapon skins were upset when they made them all available again to everyone.
I could be wrong, but I’m confident others feel the same way I do.

If you want to farm for money then you will want to do daily dungeon path runs. For the sake of sanity just stick to like 5 paths a day. I recommend AC p1 and p3, CoF p1 and p2, and HoTW p1. I find them to be pretty easy.

Can you get the ncsoft support to make gold refunds on the t3 sets?
I really do think it would be the most fair. You would have to lose the armor set though of course, otherwise you would have it for free (which isn’t fair) and I’m not sure how they would do that without people losing their armor completely.
The whole reason people even bother buying the T3 cultural sets is because of exclusivity. At the very least you know (knew) that no other race can have it, so that reduces the number of possible characters with your set by a huge %. In addition to race specific it is also cost prohibitive, so you know that joe-shmo that can’t make money in GW2 won’t be able to get it, cutting down the potential character pool with that armor even more. Now that it’s on gem store (and an arguably cooler version) for any race and any person with $10.00, it completely devalues their investment.
You just can’t do that.
This is completely different from the FoTM issue. Skins are visible to everyone and are widely considered the core of GW2. Your FoTM personal reward level is not, not even close.

Warrior…..easy and unfortunately the best in every single part of the game…
Races are not important they have some exclusive skills but they doesn t matter.Guardian is second.
I’m sure some would debate you on this particular aspect, at least in sPvP/WvWvW. I think condition necros are the best in sPvP personally. Warriors are good if played right, but as a guardian I can tell you that I generally own Warriors unless they are condi/longbow builds. But then we’re getting into the rock/paper/scissors thang.
In PvE, Warrior has the advantage hands-down, which is what the OP was asking for anyway, so you were correct there. High health pool, strong regen, high DPS, there’s really no downside. Guardian would be second like you said as well. High damage mitigation, awesome heals, strong DPS.

If you want to buy it, by all means, go buy it…
Doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be upset. All I can say is I am glad I didn’t do the grind for Ascended and Legendary items… they’ll probably be in the TP in a couple months.
God help them if they put Legendaries in the gem store. Honestly I’d be OK with putting precursors in the gem-store though. It’s complete RNG right now and I would welcome a guaranteed way to get one. Everything else for the Legendary you should have to work towards.

I don’t even know what I’m looking at, did they add color outlines? As a color-blind individual this does nothing for me. You know how many times I’ve picked up Masterwork items thinking they were Exotics lol, searching through my bag for it, absolutely sure I picked one up, only to have a bag full of stupid Masterwork.

It’s a slap in the face for those of us that did spend over 100 gold.
Indeed. I use Sylvari T3 and I would be pretty ticked off if they made them available in the gem store, with added particle effects, and open to any race.
This is one instance where I can definitely say that those that bought T3 human cultural should be refunded their gold because I know that if they knew it would be available at a later date for gems they would not have wasted the money on it in the first place. 80g ~=~ 1600 gems last I checked. If they are 800 gems, we’re looking at 40g, practically 1/3 the cost of buying the cultural from the vendor.
I’m sure the argument is that they are technically different, but come on, that’s BS.

Seeing the progress on each server would answer this question. Someone do some guesting and take photos! If they are all identical then it is not player-based. If they vary then we can assume it is tied to player completion.
This makes no sense at all.
I’m not saying that the meter is or isn’t player driven, but to say that if each server isn’t different then it’s a timer is ridiculous.
Due to the nature of how the overflow system works the meter is global, as in all servers (including the overflow servers), combined. To think that Anet could coordinate a global Trading Post but not a simple single variable meter is nonsense.
I think it would be a fairly logical conclusion…
Server populations vary drastically. I highly doubt that Anet would have a scaling progress bar based on population (high pop server requires X injections, low pop requires Y injections for example). I would put my money that they would make it fixed across all servers. Even if they did scale it, it still wouldn’t explain how they would all be identical, if they in fact were, which we don’t know anyway.
Using that as an underlying assumption, it would be fair to say that if you checked all server progresses (high, low, middle) and all progress bars were identical, that the bar is not player driven but rather time driven. I don’t know how that doesn’t make sense. It is a completely reasonable conclusion.
Whether or not it is true is yet to be proven, but make sense it does.

Yea, I’m pretty sure most would gladly take a back piece versus mats.

You can display your titles….I can’t believe you don’t know that lol.
I know what you mean about 90% of the skins not being good. But that means 10% you like so there’s that. I’ve found that skins I previously hated on my main character looked awesome on a different race/gender, so perhaps give that a try.
But in all honesty, I know your name from the forums so I know you are no stranger to expressing your dissatisfaction with GW2 on the forums. If you really find it so unrewarding then what the heck are you doing still playing?
At the end of the day you really should play a game you enjoy and find rewarding. If vertical progression is your preferred method of reward then find a game that fits that playstyle. I know they exist I’ve played plenty of MMOs with constant vertical progression.
For me, doing PvP and WvWvW with my guildmates is reward enough for me. I don’t even think of GW2 as an MMO when I’m playing those game-modes. It’s just fun in general. I’m passed the skin and BiS phase. Now I just play with my guildies doing fun stuff.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I think of engame of more being about new maps and content that you do at max level that is significant to your progression. I feel as if I should have some open world PVE content as endgame.
just my 2 cents. I am sure others disagree on some points.
I’ve always just thought of end-game as game specific and generally whatever it is you do to occupy your time at max level in whatever game you are playing. In some games it’s raiding and hopping on the gear treadmill, in others it is PvP, in this one it is dungeon running, getting skins, WvWvW, PvP, crafting for BiS, etc.
Whether or not you like the end-game options that GW2 offers doesn’t change the fact that they are indeed end-game.

FYI: zones do not up-scale. Instances sometimes up-scale, WvW up-scales, but zones definitely do not. At level 5 you cannot enter other zones that aren’t 1-15 without getting absolutely destroyed.
Yes you can enter those zones. There is not one restriction of entering zones that are not at your level. Other games would not let you enter this zone till you reach that level or finished a specific story to get there. That you getting face rolled is different, but you are not restricted of entering that zone.
To make this clear, I said zones would upscale you because specific living stories as the tower of nightmare for example, is not declared as a so called instance. And we have had plenty of those temporary stories implemented to the game.
I didn’t say you couldn’t enter the zone, I said you would be absolutely destroyed if you did. GW2 is pretty unforgiving when the level disparity is above 3-4.
Also, Kessex Hills does not upscale you at all, entering the Tower of Nightmare instance upscales you. It is an instance and is declared as such. It just has other instances inside of it.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the scaling in this game, but some of what you said was just incorrect.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
GW2 has an elitist element when it comes to dungeon speed runs and FoTM above a certain level (which is fine because those folks like to play with eachother), however as a whole GW2 is very non-elitist. It’s pretty clear Anet does not want their game to turn into a bunch of elitist a*holes that criticize others for not being able to carry their weight.
There are areas where I think elitism can work. Upper FoTM for examples. You will very rarely find a casual player interested in doing anything above level 20. Those that want to do FoTM50+ are already good and expect others to be as well. This is an area where elitism works. Speed running dungeons is acceptable as well to be elitist as long as you advertise it as a speed run and that you want experienced players. The problem with DPS meters is that the elitism will spill out into everything else because DPS checks could be potentially applied to every bit of content even if the content is easy.
It just isn’t necessary.
For example I joined a FoTM10 run a while back. They asked me to ping my gear, I said “wait, aren’t we doing FoTM10?” they insisted I ping. I had BiS for everything except back-piece at the time (was also before ascended weapons), I pinged and then I was booted and, no joke, called a scrub. This was for FoTM10, which I had completed umpteen times previously on almost every alt I have and some even in Rare gear. It’s easy content, but they decided that for FoTM10, they needed a player with absolute BiS for everything. If I was joining a FoTM30 group or something I would understand, heck even 20, but 10? Please….it’s that kind of attitude that should be avoided.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I’ve played many of games and even tho I’ve reached max level always pretty quick it could never be done under 2 – 5 hours and it defiantly was more effort and grind. GW2 is ridiculously easy when it comes to leveling and all the boosters they throw at you. Not to mention that the zones have no level requirement. You can enter them at any time, with up and down scaling or the help of some friends, even higher level zones without scaling can be done by a lower level. Most of the events have a repeat timer of 5 minutes. You can stay in a specific zone if you wanted and just do that for couple of hours and reach max level lol.
FYI: zones do not up-scale. Instances sometimes up-scale, WvW up-scales, but zones definitely do not. At level 5 you cannot enter other zones that aren’t 1-15 without getting absolutely destroyed.
