4. Zergs are too powerful in WvW
- kinda speaks for itself. WvW matches are won and lost based entirely on who’s zerg is the biggest and stays online the longest. It was fun as hell from time to time, specifically when tactics played a part, but mindlessly running with the zerg and/or getting yelled at by hardcore WvW’ers to stick on a commander’s icon gets old after a year.
Normally I would agree with you, in fact, I still agree with you, but I don’t know if it’s Fort Aspenwood just being awesome or what but lately in WvWvW even when our small zerg (20-25) comes up to a much larger zerg (40-50) we still end up on top somehow. Granted number count is based solely on my eyeballs but I swear we’ll be entering a fight and I’m like “oh great, we’re about to get rolled over” and the next thing I know they are retreating and we are standing there over their corpses wondering how the heck we just fought them off. Maybe our server name strikes fear or something. The other possibility is that I think they have 40-50 but they really don’t. It’s hard to get a good count when there is just a sea of red.

-gimmicky and unbalanced profession designs. limited build variety and too much emphasis on gear for customization.
Ignoring your other points, this one struck me as complete BS. You think Elementalist is gimmicky? Or Engineer? Or Mesmer? How are those gimmicky, because they are different from what any other MMO has tried? All three of those that I listed are unique and offer many different play styles through weapon/trait changes. A staff Ele versus a D/D for example, fire vs. air, I mean seriously, It’s almost like you already hate the game and want to use sweeping generalizations about a core aspect of the game to express your dissatisfaction, regardless of how absurd. If I didn’t think you would lie about it, I’d ask if you’ve even played an Elementalist or Mesmer or Engi or heck even a Necro.
Granted Warrior, Guardian, Ranger, Thief, maybe even Necro, I could see as somewhat uninspired on face level, but the other three? In all my years of MMO-ing those three classes stand out as unique and patently un-gimmicky.
Unbalanced, well that’s a different issue and I partly agree, but boy did that gimmicky comment get to me. What isn’t gimmicky by your definition?

GW2 has hands-down one of the easiest, fastest leveling of any game. I don’t play a lot of hours and the fact I have 5 level 80s in one year is unheard of for me.
In contrast, I played Aion for one year as well and never hit level max (they kept increasing level max when I was literally 2 levels from max wtf), and I played Aion more per week than I play GW2.
I’m honestly curious what previous MMO experience those that feel leveling in GW2 is long and arduous have had.

Because then the Legendary doesn’t reflect a player’s skill or achievement, just the ability to get their wallet out. And from the number of incompetents waving Legendaries around, it seems the wallet solution does happen.
As someone who is still working on earning their first Legendary, the above is my biggest issue. Because you can buy Legendaries, they really have lost the Legendary feel. When I get mine, most people will assume I didn’t work for it and bought it. That doesn’t keep me from working towards it because I like the skin and the idea of switching stats on the fly, but boy it is a slap in the face for hard work when no one will even look twice at it. In the beginning you would see one and think “wow awesome”, now you see one and you think “jeez I wonder what that guy paid for that”.
Biggest mistake ever making them trade-able.
Downed state I love in PvE and yes also in WvW. I don’t like it in PvP due to rallies. If they made it so that you wouldn’t rally from killing someone in PvP but rather had to rez yourself or have a teammate rez you, then Downed State would be completely acceptable. Most people dislike DS in PvP specifically because someone you are about to kill would rally because some enemy player behind you fighting a completely separate fight would win his fight. It’s just a bit backwards. Remove the rally off kill in PvP and DS would be perfect.

Curious as to where you get your numbers.

Again, we are complaining about the time lost. Time can be spent on other things than just items. Please ask if you don’t understand the situation.
As have been mentioned multiple times before, your gold is also just a number. Remove all your gold, it’s just a number.
If you feel like you should get a compensation then please make your own topic instead of hi-jacking this. I honestly won’t care if you get compensated (I’m not that selfish).
A) Gold can be spent on items so it has a value. You can do absolutely nothing with your “Personal Reward Level” in Fractals. Nothing. Not one thing. No one sees your level except for you.
B) I need help with the time lost argument: how did you lose time exactly? You played X hours of X dungeon and got X rewards over the course of that time. So, what did you lose? You basically farmed mini dungeons over and over for gear, skins, mats, gold, experience playing the game, fun, etc. etc. If they took every bit of reward you had obtained from FoTM that’s one thing, but you want to be compensated for hours playing something that has already yielded you compensation in the form of money, gear, skins? Are you telling me, us, that the ONLY reason you did FoTM was for that little number in the upper right corner that only you can see?
No, I don’t buy that for a second and nobody else does. People grinded FoTM for higher and higher reward levels, which the benefits have already been obtained via drops. You don’t get double compensated. So your reward levels is pushed down to 30, OK, so what, you still kept all of your rewards from before and they are revamping 30+ FoTM to make it even more rewarding. You aren’t out anything at all, not even your time…

No, it really doesn’t…
If you care that much, wait until someone you know is running FoTM31 then jump in their group. Problem solved.
Thanks for the solution. But will it not be similar to how people got to level 80? I do not want to get banned for doing that.
No, they designed the levels so that even if you are under a certain FoTM level you can play with others that are higher and still progress. (i.e. if you are only FoTM20 and run FoTM40 with your friends, they will progress to FoTM41 reward level and you will progress to FoTM21). That is by design. I’m not sure what you are referring to with the level 80 thing. I believe that was people actually exploiting to get there and I’m not even sure anyone was banned anyway.

It does matter, you have to redo scale 30 which is pure grind.

And it’s fine to make stuff meaningless?
It is fine to make things meaningless so long as nobody loses anything, and with these changes, no one has lost anything. Players keep every reward they’ve earned while playing FoTM. The only change is an arbitrary number.
If people really care that much, they can get a Post-It, write “Personal Reward Level: 80”, and stick it to the upper right corner of their monitors. It accomplishes the same exact thing that it would have previously, which is displaying a number only you can see.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Done it alone as a ranger, elementalist and engineer.
I dunno man, I want to believe you, I really do, but I’ve tried getting through level 3 with 2-3 of us, who I would say are not complete idiots at our classes (I’d say I was awesome if I didn’t think I’d get hit with ‘clearly you aren’t and you need to l2p’), and the Group Events are pretty much impossible even with a small group, let alone solo. If all of the walls are down and you just need to run through that’s cake and I’ve done that on numerous occasions.
But when the tower is empty and you are the only one progressing and you have to do the group events it is pretty much impossible. Like the area you need to clear X number of Scarlet mobs, even solo it throws tons of Veterans and some Elites at you, with the zone DoT on you. And if you’re saying you can solo that event while staying inside the tiny Air Purifier bubble (to avoid that damage over time) then you clearly must be some sort of sorcerer.

I had considered something similar, but since I started playing ANet has done a few things to really kitten me off and I just can’t bring myself to spend more “real” money. I enjoy the game and support it and my guild through playing, but will not sink more money in to it.
I did that with anything RNG related. I got burned not once but twice on RNG gem purchases and now I will never purchase anything from the gem store that even remotely involves RNG. Skins, heck yes.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
The only real counter to condition builds that I’ve seen in PvP is proper teamwork (fields/finishers, proper AoE removal timing, conditions to boons skills etc) and unless you’re in a pre-made in tPvP, that option is pretty much not available, which is why Condi builds are so powerful in most PvP situations.

He’s using an analogy to point out that game makers should not take away from players. This has nothing to do with whether or not you find meaning in titles and AP. He is stating how he feels about the change. Whether or not you agree doesn’t make his opinion or feelings any less valid.
Except his analogy is clearly in response to the FoTM reset, which is equally as frivolous as it would be if they chose reset everyone’s AP but you still got to keep all the loot and titles you earned. Players have not lost anything. Grinding to FoTM80 netted them lots of good loot and hours of play time. They didn’t lose those items or anything of value; they lost an arbitrary number that no one but themselves sees…
Think of it as Anet raising the new FoTM level cap to 100, but instead they are calling it 50 and 80 is now the new 30. They mean absolutely nothing. They now have 20 more levels with new mechanics and tricks/traps to enjoy. They’ve only gained, not lost. It’s all freaking relative.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Still doesn’t change anything about the fact that downed-state is the worst mechanic this game has.
Except I find it to be one of the best mechanics, so I guess your statement isn’t actually a fact, but more your opinion…
Do you dislike being the person downed or do you dislike that when you kill someone you have to take the time to finish them off?
Also, I don’t know what PvP you play but I rarely if ever see players leave people downed to “bleed out”. That’s just asking for them to rally themselves and for you to have completely wasted your time. Classes you especially can’t leave to “bleed out”: Guardian and Ranger since they have heal abilities. When you say bleed out do you mean you have a bunch of DoTs on them (which is basically just DPSing) or do you mean you let them sit there with the standard downed damage over time?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
They are meant to take advantage of openings. Don’t give them that opening.
It may work for random 1v1 meetings between locations, but if it happens at the place you need to defend (supply camp, ruins, yak escort), then you may not have that option, as running away is equal to a lost fight.
This is true and definitely gives thieves the advantage in the long run if you are defending something and can’t leave, but I’m 100% OK with that. They need to have some kind of advantage. Being able to retreat well doesn’t really cut it as a major class tactic. It drags out the fight and is just annoying for the other person more than anything. Their stealthy retreat allows them to pick at a solo defender until they die without a major threat of death (unless someone else shows up). I like that they have this advantage because lord knows I have plenty advantages.
In PvP as a Guardian I can hold down a point by myself against multiple enemies for quite a long time: longer than pretty much any class. I’m not going to win the fight but I can keep the point contested long enough for the rest of my team to capture theirs and come back to help defend. Necros are good at this too. Most classes are good at something, I don’t think it’s fair to take away or reduce the effectiveness of the Thief’s limited advantage. They really do need it.

If it doesn’t make sense on paper let’s just agree magic is somehow involved and move on.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Part of the reason behind downleveling is to combat this, I thought? Yes, they wanted to enable you to play with low level friends, but they also wanted the zones to be still somewhat interesting and a small challenge. Unless they do indeed intend the zones to die. If thats the case, then the core concept of this game is dead to me and I’ll delete it today and look onto the next game completely. Im still holding out that one of their top priorities is making the entire world feel alive, which they have not done yet.
That is definitely what they intended for the game, and is a direct reason why QD is filled with level 80s. They can still get benefit from the zone. The problem is that there are lots of zones, and if you down-scale to each zone then really each zone you can consider to be equal: so if you have 20 different zones you can play (as a level 80 we are talking about of course), how can Anet ensure that all zones are played equally?
Each zone, although equal in the sense that it is accessible and beneficial to 80s, are unequal with their terrain, DEs, mobs, etc. Some will be considered better than others. I can tell you that I don’t like Dredgehaunt Cliffs, there are too many windy paths and mountain terrain I have to work around rather than big open spaces (other than the southern area). If I had the option I would choose something a little easier to traverse. Most feel this way as well. And since you gain rewards regardless of level, why wouldn’t someone just choose the lower level zones for faster killing since they tend to be easy to navigate and have lots of events to do?
The LS is their attempt at getting people into other zones they normally wouldn’t. Scarlet Invasions are a very specific example of their attempt at this. The only problem is the novelty has worn off and now no one can get enough people in the zone to actually finish fighting off each Wave. Have you ever seen the message "Scarlet’s minions are attacking XXXX " and thought to yourself “Eh, I don’t really like that zone” and then not gone? I know I have. Honestly when I see the message now I say “That’s still going on? I wonder how many people are even participating.”

The mat requirements are a lot but they don’t account for those prices. The pre-cursor is the hardest to get and most expensive. Everything else you can obtain relatively easy if you actually seek it out. If you are like me and don’t do really any gold grinding: I make maybe 10-15g/week, then just pick what your minimum gold threshold is (mine is 100g, I don’t ever want to go under 100g in my bag), and then anything over 100g spend on T6 mats/lodestones, etc. It will be slow going but it is guaranteed progress. Ori you can grind on your own, so don’t waste money on that, but T6 mats, those are very difficult to farm, so I just buy them when I get the money to do so.
I also set aside $20/mo to spend on gem store to support the game. Not everyone can do this, I understand that, but if you can afford it, I say go for it. Each month I take a look to see if there are any skins or items that interest me, then I will buy them. Anything left over I convert to gold because gem to gold rate right now is pretty sweet.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
To be honest, as someone with nearly 10k AP, I would not care if they reset the number as long as I kept all of the items I had acquired up until now. It’s just a number after all. The titles and loot are really all that matter from the AP.

Dude, nothing angers me more than when I’m almost dead, I hit my heal, literally see my health fill, I have a split second of relief, then bam downed. This happens to me on a daily basis and I die a little inside each time it happens. An obvious solution for me would be to heal sooner, but I like to live on the edge. No joke though, I see my heal land and heal me but it doesn’t seem to take. Only happens when I’m really close to death and my heal would be making it in the nick of time.

I don’t know if anyone has ever suggested this or not, but in GW1 there were outposts in every zone and cities in many of them. We also had “city like” areas that were challenge/competitive areas like Fort Aspenwood and Remains of Sahlahja.
You didn’t always have to port back to one of the BIG cities to do most things like we do now. I know most of the content was instanced in GW1, but if we had some outposts in those areas, maybe it would encourage more people to stay in those zones.
I believe almost every zone has an outpost like you are describing where you can access TP, bank, crafting, etc. I can’t say every zone for sure, but I know a lot do because I’m always pleasantly surprised when I come up on one and I can do my organizing without having to go to LA or The Grove (best capitol, there is no debate, Sylvari are superior to everyone)

LOL Ele downed is your issue?!!! wut?
Down ele, start your Finish, assume he will instantly mist, cancel your Finish, run to where he ends, Finish. Guardiand and Ele are hands-down the easiest classes to finish in their downed state. Guardian especially (I play guardian and Ele as mains btw): Throw up stability, stomp = dead guardian. Or, start stomp, get knocked back, now take your time to stomp them as they are literally helpless. Our #3 (heal) has a pretty long CD from when you first are downed. You have plenty of time to kill them.
Elementalist is just as easy, you just have to move a little bit. Ranger is easy as long as you get on them fast. That pet rez is pretty awesome but takes awhile for it to come up to use.
I’d say Mesmer has the best Downed state. If they are good they can end up hidden behind something and have a buddy rez them.

end game is to dress up your pve doll and toss it with other pve dolls in an arena called wvwvw.
As opposed to? Dressing up your PvE doll farming the same content over and over for new dresses to replace your older out of fashion dresses and then have to farm new content over and over for yet another new dress when the new fashion season comes out?
Yea, I’d rather do WvWvW thanks…

I’d say that in every MMO I’ve ever played with a large number of zones that are level restricted certain zones are just empty. That’s just part of MMOs. Starter zones will be highly populated, zones with the best farming will be highly populated, mid-range zones will be empty, zones with difficult mobs will be empty. This isn’t exclusive to GW2…
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
In sPvP, as a guardian if I see a thief coming towards me I let out a sigh of relief as I know it will be an easy kill. Worst case scenario he runs away. Whatever. Now, two thieves on me at the same time, that’s a problem.
In WvW, on my Guardian again, Thieves generally equate to pop out of stealth, attack, attack, see they aren’t winning, stealth, run away. They really just end up wasting their time and mine. Once I see them stealth and run, I Aegis up and start running in the opposite direction. I just end the fight there because honestly what is even the point. Like someone else posted, they do great damage, but if things go south for them they can stealth and run. That is strategy #1 for most thieves: if start to lose, stealth and run, heal up, then attack again. If you know this is what they will do, just run away from them when they run from you. Don’t just stay in the area looking for them, that’s just asking for them to take advantage. Thieves are opportunists (not the players, but the class design). They are meant to take advantage of openings. Don’t give them that opening.
If you are having an awesome fight and the Thief is almost dead and he stealths so he can turn tail and run, consider that a forfeit, pat yourself on the back, and leave the area. You don’t have to fall for their tricks. We all know how most of them play at this point. They want to be able to reset the fight and start over basically, I don’t have time for that. Don’t give them the satisfaction of you practically winning, them narrowly escaping, and them coming back and winning after its all said and done. They live for that satisfaction and I refuse to give it to them.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I totally agree aswell. If we have fractal leader-board, then everyone should start at level 1. I don’t see how Anet are evening out the playing field by resting to only level 30. Its totally unfair for the competitive players that did not care about fractals before. Please Anet, if you bring in competitions to PvE, please reset everyone to a common starting place.
With a comment like this you better be at FoTM50 because if you are like Erebus that has never done fractals in the first place, this will not affect you and you are just complaining to complain. People over FoTM30 can be considered regular fractals players, people under 30 are considered casual, I think that’s a fair assessment. I’m a casual fractals player and I’m maybe at 23. So if you are under level 30 after a YEAR of the game being out, then you aren’t a competitive player to begin with so you would literally never be in the running for the leaderboard in the first place. SO WHAT IS THE FREAKING PROBLEM!!!!!! If you are over 30 then you can classify yourself as competitive and you are being reset to the same exact level as every other competitive player. You get your wish. The fact you have a problem with the level 30 reset means you are under 30, so really, you know you won’t be on the leaderboard, I know you won’t be on the leaderboard, there are no problems here.
The only ones with room to complain are the ones being bumped down, but your FoTM number isn’t even visible to anyone, it’s an arbitrary number. When I walk through LA, I don’t look at someone and say “Whoa, he plays FoTM80 so awesome!!”. I have no clue, people will still have no clue. If anything you should be happy that FoTM30+ will have a twist now and rewards will be better. I just don’t get people sometimes.

Quick ones to follow is random luck, so that argument is invalid.
Restarting fractals is exactly what it is. It’s not exploiting to restart something.
I’m not sure what you’re getting at.And if you don’t get why they would differentiate between legit people and exploiters… then I can’t help you at all.
Not everyone is getting at something when they ask a question. Read my comment, I didn’t say I didn’t get why they would differentiate, I said I don’t know how they would differentiate. Those are quite different. Read before you respond, sheesh.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I sincerely hope people won’t be rewarded for exploiting.
Doing fractals was indeed fun.
Leveling fractals wasn’t.
I don’t know how they would be able to differentiate between those that progressed through exploits and those that didn’t. I know I was able to progress decently fast because I would reload FoTM until I got the swamp fractal as first fractal. Typically if you start with Swamp you will get quick ones that follow as well. Would this be considered an exploit? I’ve never gone above FoTM 30 though so I’m unaffected by these changes.

Even the forum suppression is getting out of hand. Sometimes I can read and post a response within 120 seconds. Forcing me to wait is lame. I’m all for less spam, but good god Anet, let’s ease up on the suppression or allow for some kind of amnesty system whereas if you’ve never been reported as a spammer or gold seller for X period of time that you can post without fear of suppression.
Sure it could be abused by people who target someone and report them as spamming, but as of right now everyone is being treated as a spammer so what the heck is the difference anyway.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Yea you should use them immediately. They can be used in crafting (kind of) to consolidate smaller denominations into larger ones (for less carpal tunnel inducing click-fests) but in general use them immediately. I’m not sure we’d be able to calculate what the potential loss in drops has been without that MF, but I would venture to guess it is significant enough to warrant a V8 style forehead slap.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Casual players won’t make it past FoTM10. Heck, most casual players still won’t set foot into FoTM. To say getting to FoTM50 is easier now and thus caters to casuals is a bit alarmist for my taste. Casual players don’t want to have to worry about Agony Resist. They will stick to the fractals that don’t require it just like they have been, or they wont’ go in at all.
I feel this update has nothing to do with making it more casual friendly. They are just trying to improve FoTM in general as its been out for a year now and was getting pretty stale.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Seeing the progress on each server would answer this question. Someone do some guesting and take photos! If they are all identical then it is not player-based. If they vary then we can assume it is tied to player completion.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I’m sure some would argue that the fun of playing Fractals was reward enough? If you weren’t having fun, why are you even doing it, it’s just work at that point.
What I do think would be fair, and pretty awesome, is that those that made it to FoTM80 got an exclusive title. Maybe those that made it to FoTM 50 also got a title, but just a less presitigous title. " Fractals of the Mist Expert" vs “Fractals of the Mist Dominator” something like that.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
The fun of the game was in fractal 70+. If they hard cap it again to 50 they are basically taking 30 levels of fun content away from us…
Really? So the 69 levels before FoTM 70 weren’t fun? I find that hard to believe.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
You guys don’t understand.. starting out at square one with nothing… I have to get to level 30 this week or I’ll be behind my friends and we won’t be able to play together? I thought I could play how I want?
Your friend can join you.
But then they wouldn’t be advancing so it isn’t fair to them… I have no choice but to grind fractal levels.
If it is staying the same, which I believe it is. Then you can join your friends on FoTM 30 even if you are on FoTM1. They will be moved up to FoTM31 upon completion, you will be moved up to FoTM2. This is the way it’s been for awhile now. Nothing has changed, so what are you complaining about? If you didn’t have the Agony Resist to play with them before this update (since obviously they are high level fractals players, and you clearly have not completed even a single fractal based on your lack of knowledge on the boss fractal), then what’s the problem? You didn’t play it with your friends before this update, and you likely won’t play with your friends after it. Did you come on here just to complain about Anet and GW2 for the hell of it?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Gear gating? Seriously? You only really need Agony resist at 20+, and what content are you missing out on by not having Agony resist (which if you even do fractals a little bit you will get Agony resist stuff)? The same exact dungeons you have been doing over and over but now slightly harder? It’s the same content!! That’s not content gating. That’s making content available to everyone, and if you seek out a harder challenge you can pursue a harder version of the same exact content, which is completely optional.
FoTM 1-19 can be completed in Rare gear, I’ve done it.
Saying that high level fractals requiring Agony resist is gear-gating is such a stretch, because you can do the exact same content without that gear, just put it on an easier difficulty…
EDIT: Think of it like a single player game that has difficulties Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert. The game is the exact same, but you can adjust the difficulty of the enemies. Would you say that someone who beats the entire game on Easy or Normal, saw all the cut-scenes, saw the ending, literally finished side-quest, every everything, somehow missed out on content because he didn’t beat the exact same game on Expert (let’s also assume there are no secret endings for beating it on a harder difficulty—because there aren’t in FoTM)? You wouldn’t.
If you simply must beat the game on the hardest difficulty, then that will require certain gear and that’s a completely optional venture you decide to take at your own prerogative. But the content is the same.

4. I would much prefer to do one at a time instead of 3, so I can make less time commitment.
You could always leave after one fractal. Just saying. Let everyone know that you only have time for one, I believe other members can jump in whenever, and I’m sure most people would be happy to join with less fractals to do before boss. I know I would.
By the way, the boss fractal is ridiculously easy/short. I find it a relief to finally get there after an unlucky set of long fractals. You run through all the mobs and then fight the boss. That’s it.

Champ train you can jump in whenever. Tower you have to arrange to have a group or be lucky enough to jump in with a zerg, which has been increasingly difficult the last few days. I enjoyed the Tower, I really did, but it’s a big time sink for less reward than can be obtained elsewhere. That is the biggest problem. The Pavillion and Labyrinthe gave a ton of extra MF. That’s a start. The poor scaling is the other problem. Trying to trek up the tower solo is almost impossible. So I pretty much just wait until I see someone in guild asking if anyone wants to do the Tower, then I jump in. I’d much rather spend my time in WvW at this point.
Good content, poorly implemented. We’ve been at ~10% antitoxin injected since last Wednesday. Clearly this shows everyone stopped giving a crap.

But to clarify what I gathered from your first post, the guy you responded to was pointing out that most people who complain about the cost of pay-to-play games end up spending virtually as much on free-to-play games (cash shops, etc). Your reply certainly seemed to be an attempt to contradict his assertion (are you saying it wasn’t?) … in spite of the fact that the costs you list for free-to-play (industry averages and your brother’s example) are within round off error of the average cost of a pay-to-play game. Your opposing contention was invalidated by the data you offered that instead supported his, and I find it really odd that you can’t understand that.
The premise was that people supposedly, via some sort of research, would on average spend more that $15/mo on a F2P game. He was saying that he does not agree with said premise and used his brother as an example of someone spending less than $15/mo on average when you extend his $150 purchase out over 1 year. You then retorted by saying it comes out closer to $12/mo if he purchased $150 once per year over 3 years and then said he contradicted himself.
Sadly I must agree with him that you didn’t quite get where he was going with his comment. I hope this helps.

I honestly thought he was going to tie a Harry Potter reference into his post somehow. Or a satellite radio reference.

The glass cannon argument is poor insofar that one-shot mechanics do not make up a majority of the content. Sure there are bosses in some areas that do, but why make a build for such a small % of the content? If you get one shot you get one shot, I’d rather worry about a build that I like for the rest of the content that isn’t one-shot mechanics.
So I completely disagree with OP’s premise that because some bosses have one-shot mechanics that armor is useless in this game.

Run it with your guild, that’s the best suggestion I can make. Before I even attempted it (I assumed it would not be solo friendly and PUGs are a pain sometimes), I gathered up everyone I could in guild. Got 7 of us and we cleared through to the top without issue.
If you aren’t in a guild, or are in a dead guild, I would highly suggest finding a new one or recruiting. I can honestly say that the support from my guild is what keeps me playing GW2. Having people I can call on to do WvW, sPvP, dungeons, world bosses, literally anything is the difference between me playing and not playing. If I didn’t have a great guild I probably wouldn’t be playing MMOs in general. It really does make or break this game, IMO, whether you have a good guild or not. To me this applies to any MMO.

She’s also using plenty of hallucinogenics on the krait. Could be why they are OK with working with her, they might think she’s a krait for all we know. But as far as the krait gods thing goes, I know if I was a krait and I saw the evolved form of the final boss in the Tower, I would totally think that was a god. Sounds like she is delivering for them.

The behavior of players is shameful. Only a few will try to help. But most will just let everyone die if it will help them to get to top of tower.
It’s pretty difficult to stop and help somebody (However much you want to) if you know your going to die as well.
People dont want to help even if they can. And if i realy cant ress someone completely a will ress at least a little so others behind me can finish it.
I’m someone that will always rez someone that is downed or dead. But seriously, in this tower, it’s nearly impossible. What good does it do anyone if we are both dead, nothing was accomplished at that point. There was a guy that I seriously had to leave behind. I felt bad about it but hoped he realized how many mobs and AOEs were going on around him. I simply couldn’t.
If you die in a bad area, don’t just sit there and wait for someone to maybe decide to clear an entire area and rez you. You need to WP back and run like everyone else. Or wait for the zerg to run through.

Not sure if this was discussed anywhere, but I was speaking with some guildies about Scarlet and all of these story arcs they are putting together.
Does anyone else notice that:
Molten Alliance, Aetherblades, Toxic Alliance = Vigil, Durmand Priory, Order of Whispers? The evil versions obviously. They are even growing an evil Pale Tree. Scarlet is creating evil versions of what we got going on.
The LS up until now doesn’t sound so random when you think about it with this in mind.
