Am I good?… I’m good.
Yeah Druid can in PvP due to limited fight area. There is NO WAY a good Druid would die in a 1v1 in WvW.
Am I good?… I’m good.
Without these pets druid would never kill anything unfortunately.
Am I good?… I’m good.
It’s bugged.
It only cleanses one “stack” of each movement impairing condition on you instead of all.
so let’s say you get immobilized by net turret and net shot and use staff 4, it will only cleanse one of the two immobilize stacks.
This makes sense to me. I will test later
And confirm.
Am I good?… I’m good.
Walk Forward and Cast it forward
or
Walk Backwards and Cast it BackwardsI also got cleansed from immob just by casting it in front of me, can’t recall what criterias were met though…
Buggy indeed.
So far I believe this is correct. You have to walk in the direction you are casting, I believe moving at all in variation from that direction can cause it to cleanse or not cleanse… Anyone else?
Am I good?… I’m good.
So I know I have done it before but can’t consistently do it. I figure there is some wonky way to do it consistently as that is how this wonky game is often coded. So does anyone know how to cleanse yourself with staff 4? I don’t think its possible to do while immob’d but what I am most curious about is how to do when chilled. Anybody know how to consistently pull it off?
Am I good?… I’m good.
I watched a bit vs DH and the War. Not bad but I do see room for improvement, there is always some. I think you should consider timing your pet bursts with your lockdown or other skills like rapid fire (for the added damage from vuln) when the enemy doesn’t have their defensive cds. You could use your celestial form more offensively at times in order for big damage from CF 5 or well timed interrupts from CF 3. You can also spam CF 2 between skills or at least at the end of your CF for the blind/condi clear if you’d like. You can also cancel CF 5 for stab. Against things like warrior that comboing into your smoke scale F2 can be super helpful with blinds or just stealth to reposition.
If you are fighting a good mesmer (I didn’t watch these) you can stealth at the right times off of their clones with hunter’s shot at key times in order to help mitigate damage. Things like they sword 3, you stealth off of it, you dodge, they shatter and you aren’t there. If you know when they will use their sword 3 you can knockback the spawned clone if you have great timing and/or the new retarget mid channel option. That causes them to port away from you if it isn’t fast enough. Also, seed blinds can stop shatters/blind phantasm summons. Likewise, you can immob the shatters coming at you with staff 4 to help mitigate damage. I didn’t watch your fight vs chrono, but i’ve dueled the best soo many times I’m sure some of these tips might be helpful.

you get 2 procs of prot from the rune (shh)
Because of your heal. Not cause of the rune.

Gonna bet on Countless for this one.
Am I good?… I’m good.
I disagree
Druid support is awesome right now imo.
Ele can still work just got to be careful.
Mesmer still works.
To an extent scrapper is even somewhat of a support.
Am I good?… I’m good.
In PvP druids who use runes of the soldier and use shout utilities are only cleansing condis from themselves and not from their allies. This is a bug as the runes should also clear a condition from nearby allies (or affected allies, which allies are affected as Resounding Timber makes it so).

Difference is you can 100-0 a Druid in a CC chain in a second or two, can’t do that with a bunker mes. Meanwhile the diamond skin change was just the removal of really poor game design for an overrall healthier game.
Am I good?… I’m good.
I think Empathic Bond should be removed entirely and a new trait of any kind should just take its place.
Am I good?… I’m good.
I’d love some Spirit Watch love to get it into ranked games!
Am I good?… I’m good.
You can just kill the bristleback… then you don’t have to fight it for a full minute. You can kill a druid in a minute… this is a learn to play issue.
Am I good?… I’m good.
Given its a stunbreak, has no tell, and a lower cd protect me is better because of how tanky bristle back and smoke scale are. Only drawback is point capture but you can cancel protect me so that shouldn’t be an issue. Of course this will all change on the 26th.
Am I good?… I’m good.
Based off of current projected changes, thief or reaper should be able to 1 v 1 a “bunker” druid of equal skill as they currently have this possibility and are only getting stronger. In a team fight druids are easy to kill regardless of build. As this is the case I do not believe bunker druid will be anywhere ANYWHERE close to current bunker mesmer.
Am I good?… I’m good.
Though staff over longbow is probably better in retrospect.
The pet heal is just to help on Celestial Force regen because and the other two (master beastmastery) traits don’t do anything for the build. SotW is just to make sure I get to use Celestial Form as soon as possible for the stunbreak/condi clear/stealth.
If you change LB to staff you would probably also change amulet, no reason for marauder with staff. Do you find stealth a good trait for top tier pvp? always thought its causing to much unintantional decaping.
Marauder staff damage isn’t terrible. I’d probably keep it just to have that little extra oomph to kill things? Not 100% sure though. I find stealth almost mandatory. It is just way too easy to kill a ranger currently and it can provide great peels and has good utility for like downed bodies. Unfortunately revs have reveal on their best set up so that makes it not as useful. I don’t think it decaps me very much as in 1 v 1s I can usually just end it and hit them quick enough to not lose caps (especially with instant cast signet) and then for teammates on point I can just walk away from them before stealthing so they don’t get stealthed.
Am I good?… I’m good.
2 > 5 > 3 > 2 > 4 > 2 leave (if you are doing it for more offensive)
or for defensive usually 2 > 5 – cancel > 3/4 > 2 > 3/4 > 2 > leave.
Am I good?… I’m good.
I think sword and maybe s/d is our best bet for pvp. It is our only way to mitigate unrelenting assault reliably. Without it we just take too much damage in the current meta. Normally, I would prefer greatsword but the block doesn’t do anything in this meta, talking about pvp of course.
Somehow we’ve completely swapped positions. You used to be the biggest GS fan and me the sword fan. Now, if you’re using staff + sword/dagger, I just don’t see where your damage is coming from. Exclusively your pet pretty much, and maybe rabid (??) (edit: Actually they aren’t removing magi, I intuitively thought they would. All the pure condi amulets left suck though, and none have healing power.) for the poison damage makes sense after the upcoming changes.
Although I do think that could be our role now that eles and mesmers are taking a hit, and especially if shouts pan out, we may be the obvious choice for teamfight anchors.
Its just that Unrelenting assault, rev staff 5, necro marks, mesmer clones, all break the greatsword block (+ all the unblockable stuff out there). I would use marauder or zerker ammy (or whatever the equivalent is) or probably the new power/precision/healing power/vit one. Greatsword might work? But I think in the current meta with the way other classes do damage s/d just has an advantage. To be perfectly honest though, I don’t really know. There is just so much fighting uphill in the current meta its hard to figure anything out.

I have the 2 best shatter mesmers in the game on my team. I’d rather have balance before class stacking bans. All we do by opting for no class stacking is settle for mediocrity.

ArenaColin, “In regards to balance – balance is NOT driven by our PvP Pro League, the pro league is a marketing effort that has almost zero impact on our dev team. Drawing parallels between the two is at best disingenuous.”
So yes. You are correct OP. The game is not being balanced to be competitive.
Am I good?… I’m good.
It was a 4 man queue, where 3/4 lost 1 pip and got dishonored and the 4th did not get any dishonor and gained 2 pips. The 5th (a solo queue) also lost a pip. Despite the fact that we won.
Am I good?… I’m good.
How does that work? We were 4 queued, 3 people lost a pip, the solo queuer lost a pip, and I got 2 pips. We won 580 – 256 or something. The enemy team all lost 2 pips.

Thoughts?
Personally, if they are trying to market the game as an “esport” then balance should heavily consider top tier game play as every other successful esport has done, so there should be parallels. PvE should be balanced via NPC mechanics and WvW should be either left to its mayhem or balanced via consumables.
I appreciate the post from Colin. It is nice to know where we stand, although I wish this was clearer years ago. I guess I only have my foolish optimism to blame.

You guys/gals find that you are facing the standard pre-made and group composition now and more difficult to win? Like hitting a wall because you are not joining the easy mode classes?
Besides a couple VERY select metas ranger has always been a against this wall. Its nothing new. Granted I think its a little less intense now as there are viable options they just aren’t as optimal. Hopefully there will be a mid-season balance patch to even things out. Then ranger would be in a good spot again.
Am I good?… I’m good.
Mostly solo, second most duo, and a few premade queues playing a splattering of stuff. But mostly when solo/duo i run this for fun: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQJATWnUqA1CiVsAmsActgFGBDupOV7qPPhhVLjJc9tCAl8s0A-TZBFwACuAAEOEAF3foaZAAPBAA

Bunker mesmer by far.
Am I good?… I’m good.
They don’t beat everything thrown at them. In fact the lose quite often. Fortunately for them they have the ability to practice as a team together very often and are usually only losing in scrimms. When game day rolls around they have adjusted and are ready to beat what has been ailing them. Fortunately for them they also have balance in their favor as none of their classes are inherently weak or completely useless in this meta. Unfortunately for them, there are now teams practicing consistently, namely PZ, and rumor has it PZ is destroying Abjured in scrimms (running the meta). Meanwhile, other top teams just don’t have the experience to match up against Abjured at this time. My two cents.
Am I good?… I’m good.
I understand they won’t fix it on the weekend I just want to keep the awareness going. They could fix it before mid-late December because bug fixes can happen at any time. As proof I would suggest taking a gander at the myriad of ranger bug fixes over the past few months.

Why would anyone want an unblockable on a pet anyways, you cant control when it happens so its completely unreliable.
With experience you can learn to anticipate when it is available and when it will be used. Therefore, you can psuedo-control it.
Am I good?… I’m good.
Yes it is. Can’t let rangers have counterplay though! NERF IT!
But really don’t. We need this.
