Usually I’m not that guy, shrug but isn’kitten bit silly to apply real world physics to the world of Tyria?
…Oh who cares anyway.
This topic entertains me and I learned something new. So +1
But in the end it was the Pale Tree herself that was the final barrier protecting Caera. It was only when she pushed past her, that she lost her mind.
In contrast, the Soundless might block themselves off from the Dream, but it’s also stated that the Pale Tree can still contact them should she want to. I think it’s questionable that being Soundless immediately removes any form of protection from you.
Whatever the Master of Peace did to Aerin broke his mind, not becoming Soundless. The whole mantra is a red herring imo.
They just don’t give a cluck
So is it Aerin or the Peace Master who has flipped and gone bad? Or is it a bit of both and the other?
Also it’s pretty interesting in itself that a majority of important Sylvari that have been corrupted or did not come from the Pale Tree (such as Malyck) have been engineers.
I also believe that at some point the Ree Soesbee commented that engineer was the least common profession for Sylvari.
I said this before, there is a real chance for the story to tie to the Fall of Abaddon somehow, which presented itself during cut-throat politics.
We “chose” to see the Thaumanova fractal, which explained to us that Scarlet was researching the ley lines under the Tyrian soil. However, had we not “picked” Kiel, but instead have ended up with Evon’s fractal, than the Fall of Abaddon would have had to present us with comparable information on the ley lines for the story of season one to continue towards it’s already decided conclusion.
However, I have absolutely no idea how they would add Scarlet herself into this situation.
In any case, I’m not sure the Master Of Peace is a Sylvari…
That would be the Master of Peas.
Hahahaha ha ha ha…. I’ll stop now.Glad to see you turning over a new leaf.
High five!
CONFIRMED: Ventari and Ronan had kids…. Wait.
“Ronan never was one to look a given horse in the mouth.”, said the mysterious figure with a long face.
I get the impression that everyone always assumes Glint’s offspring to be benign. As far as I know there’s no indication that it is.
In fact, if the child has it’s mother’s powers, it’s just as likely that it is manipulating the Master into doing “something” instead. It would explain his odd behaviour.
you meen this painting? It looks more like the Realm of Torment
It really does, but I see no way they could connect the two.
Considering they tied the Thaumanova to Scarlet, you could assume they planned on tying the Fall of Abaddon to her as well.
What I mean to say is that regardless of our choice between Kiel and Evon, and thus Thaumanova or Abaddon, the story had to play out to the same conclusion, with the Ley Lines being an important factor in it. The Fall of Abaddon would have had to provide us with the same information. This might just be a bit of art which was created at the time when the choice was up in the air.
If there really was a choice to begin with

Yep. Everything sounds much better in English al right.
In any case, I’m not sure the Master Of Peace is a Sylvari…

After reading the first half of the OP, I seriously thought you were leading to the true nemesis being the Steam Brain. Her first machines were crude, but after the Brain was able to expand on the steam creatures’ intelligence on its own, her machines were able to advance at a much faster rate, since she was probably using the Brain’s own designs.
Hah, me too. I’m kind of disappointed that it wasn’t his conclusion actually. I approve of the image of Scarlet arguing with the steam brain
Wouldn’t it be an interesting turn of events? Considering the alternate reality we’ve seen in the magic 8 cube, which we prevented, that instead of the Asuran playable character it was now Scarlet who discovered and in time was twisted to the will of the “Steam motherbrain”
Every race has it’s bad seeds.
Pun totally intended
Omg we have one zone that is focussed around using movement skills. Quickly, raise the pitchforks!!!
Actually, I’ve come to expect this twisted form of entitlement, so I’m more offended by the comparison of GW’s extremely basic jumping segments to Super Mario Brothers, which still has one of the, if not the best platforming fun ever. It’s blasphemy really.

As to the Elite Achievements section, this quote is troubling: " He gave examples like keeping all NPCs alive throughout the encounter or never falling to the boss." Never letting NPCs die? When has that ever worked in an MMO to the point that it was a fun thing to do? I am not talking about it mechanically working. I am talking about players being super stoked to do an escort mission and really enjoying it. Keeping NPCs alive has always been a chore in MMOs. Can we please do away with this notion that players find it enjoyable?
“Elite” achievement. Get good. Besides, most GW2 NPCs are pretty boss, so it shouldn’t be that hard. I remember when Teq was first updated, we used to kite the champs attacking the turrets to Rox and watch her kick kitten . She’d go all Mama Bear mode on them.
I did say, “When has it ever been fun?” and “I am not talking about it mechanically working…”. The point was, when has that ever been something players look forward to? Do you ever hear a player say, “Boy oh boy, that escort mission was a real hootenanny!”
I like escort missions. I’m sure some other people do as well. I’m also sure some people hate them. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad design.
Any excuse to equip a mace and shield on my guardian is a good one
I’d rather they make Zealot (Keeper) stats more available if they’re going to push this whole healing thing. Honestly, 200g just to get all the recipes…
Along with the added area, new mobs, and additional story content, the first episode of Season 2 introduces a bunch of new rewards, such as the new Adventurer’s Spectacles and Adventurer’s Scarf (which can be combined to create the Adventurer’s Mantle).
Queue the angel chorus?
These kind of topics always bring a single thing to mind for me.
I do dislike the fact that you have plenty of useless levels now. Basically between most later levels, there is absolutely no satisfaction in a level up. Even if it was just a really minor thing, being able to spend a trait point for a minor boost made you feel somewhat stronger.
Now level 67 is just the same as level 68 and 69 and 70 and 71. Sure, you get stronger, but they never show you those numbers anyway.
As crabs were my favourite GW1 pets, I support this message.
Please give me back my Mr. Pinchy!
Hey I’ll have a go at it too. It would be a wonderful gift to my bf, my moon and stars.
Snowden Drifts and Dredgehaunt Cliffs have event based snowstorms that really hinder your vision. I always thought they were a nice touch.
Well Faolain must be alive and ‘findable’ considering Scarlet threatened to ‘go tell on Caithe’ to her.
Priory has all types. A lot of Norn join it for various reasons like exotic travels and hunting. One Norn in fireheart joined because the Priory has the beast cooks.
They also all apparently do most of their research at the pub.
Desert drake / dune lizard please!
Hearts give you a chance to slow down and take the story line in and help common folk with their issues…
I whole heartily agree with this. <snip>
Hohoho, I see what you did there!
If by mature you mean desert, then yes. It will be the first desert map I suppose.
Apart from that there are plenty of dreary locations to be found in the game, including but not limited to haunted misty forests, snowstorm infested mountains and full out decayed undead lands.
Mommy feeling, from a Charr…
Well, better send Braham back to the fahrar ¬¬
I’ll be riding the popularity wave of my Greatsaw to the very end
If you want to be a special snowflake, most legendaries ironically are not the way to go. In fact, they’ve become so common it’s getting annoying (like half the screen turning black from 20 Twighlights).
So unless you really like the skin, be it part of some theme you have going or whatnot, or it’s the “equip a legendary” icon that bothers you, I would hold off on them.
In the end they are still a huge grindfest to get.
That’s not the point Revenant is making. In your vision all of our characters must all have a permanent banker golem in order to do any useful and fast trading of gear. That’s just not realistic.
I had a similar idea before, when they released the royal passes. I would gladly pay gems for a permanent royal pass, which appears as an icon in my inventory tab on all my characters. And it should of course work like the HoM stone. Fast loading map with all services, leave to return to your first location.
It gets really annoying to have to transfer your convenience items in the inconvenient way we have now.
I understand his concept quite well. There is a thread about this every so often. In fact, two on the front page today.
The point is…unless it costs about what ArenaNet would get from several Banker Golems (which actually can be acquired free with a disposable character slot…for a limited time), Permanent or otherwise, I doubt we would see it offered.
Maybe they will……….some day. =)
Are they? Forgive my ignorance but I’m certain at some point these were soulbound.
I would say that the value of ascended weapons, but mostly armor is directly proportional to the amount of characters of that armor type you actively play.
For that reason I think berserker heavy armor is a good investment as most people play guardian and warrior, both rather wanted classes. And both of those usually wield a greatsword.
In PvE I inmobilize so much that i couldn’t play without it. Examples of useful scenarios.
4: It’s also useful to Rez people if you are the last guy standing and there’s a boss trying to kill you. Immobilize and get some times to rez.
I use it in my warrior and those 4 seconds are just really useful for me.
…. What boss can you get the full 4 seconds on?
Ralena Stormbringer and Vassar
And for the record, you can stop calling yourself stupid.
Anyone who asks for help with the things they don’t know is a smart person.
It has been a while I played Gw2 for personal reasons.
I just wanted to know if anything that was suggested by players ever made it into the actual game.
Thank you for your answers
Why exactly do you ask this? Is there anything in particular you want in the game?
Cultural armour and weapons – enough said.
Not everything should be soulbound, but their are items that need to be..
Well aren’t you the smart cookie. You’re absolutely right, apart from the bit where you’re terribly mistaken.
It was perfectly possible to transmutate the cultural skins on items of fine quality to make them account bound. I still have a couple of Charr armor skins in account bound state. It’s most likely still possible with the wardrobe on low quality gear.
Just a little bit of nitpicking from my end, enough said.

The only materials you cannot buy in any form are the ones needed for the vision crystal. In order to get those you’re going to have to farm champions, dungeons and world bosses. You can use the gold, tokens and materials you gain from that to start leveling up your crafting discipline to lv 500.
You already realise it’s going to be a long journey, so I suggest you pick it up with what you enjoy doing most and generally work towards your goal. If you are bent on getting ascended quickly, then crafting is probably the worst way to go about doing that. You’re better off at high Fractal levels for that, even if the drops are random.
As far as I know, Rune of Hoelbrak is the cheaper alternative of the Rune of Strength.
I like Rune of the Pact and in fact I use them on all my 4 characters, I’d say it’s a decent damage modifier, not as good as Strength but for the price it’s worth it imo.
Eh?
The whole appeal of the Superior rune of Strength is the flat +7% damage with a very easy requirement. The other 5 bonuses aren’t why these runes are ridiculously demanded.
The comparable one, and previously overused rune is the Superior rune of the Scholar, which gives a +10% damage when your health is over 90%.
The cheaper alternative you can craft yourself is the Superior rune of the Ogre, which has a flat +4% damage.
I see no reason why they wouldn’t work together.
I find a Centurion claw to match with most stuff to be honest.
Guides are easy enough, just google it.
Though it has become substantially more expensive to craft your way to the top, with ascended crafting upping the price of metals and fabrics. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Alas I have no experience with PvP levelling, so I’ll take other’s word for it.
They are simply there for atmosphere purposes. It could have been simply the cash value of that item, but these things are meant to make it look a bit more believable.
“Wonder what’s in this ancient chest! Hmm so sort of damaged crap, doesn’t seem to have any value. Bummer.”
They’re a minor hassle but without these little things the world would be far less immersive.
Why should these materials be tied to a way of playing anyway? Shouldn’t we be stimulated to play how we want to?
So do away with the whole thing and change every dust/fragment/ore drop into an ascended grab bag that generates an amount of a random selected material.
They can still adapt the amount of bags you get per piece of content, or make small/medium/large versions. At least everything has a equal chance to contribute and we won’t have these outrageous differences in availability any more.
You think dragonite ore should drop from the sky on an hourly basis in order to accomodate the players that only wish to stand in Lion’s Arch and chat.
That would destroy this game if Anet did that. I don’t understand why you think people should gain loot just by standing and chatting in Lion’s Arch. Really, you’re taking the “play the way you want” thing way too far.
Don’t be ridiculous. You’re pulling my first sentence completely out of context to make an asinine point. Did I say you should get everything for free? I did not.
The ascended raw materials are far from the most limited factor of ascended crafting. What I am suggesting is a way to balance the ways of gaining all three components. Yes that would make dragonite ore more common, but it would also make bloodstone dust less common. You still need to play the game to gain them, but you can choose what you want to or can do.
Champ bags would give little materials, dungeons would give more and high end world bosses would give the most. But if you can’t do those because they smoke your pc, or you can’t fit them in your schedule, then at least you have other options.
So, let me flip the questions around and ask why it should be that dragonite ore should be much more limited in gain than the other materials, effectively shutting some players out of that source?
(edited by Evans.6347)
I believe I’ve been really fair to the “manifesto” in the past and I still am. That quote has been used far more than only in that beaten old, dead horse.
But thanks for sharing your opinion in the most dense way ever.

Sounds like the story missions from GW1 to be honest. And that’s not a bad thing.
I said my piece, I don’t expect anyone to agree with me.
Luckily it seems season two will be avoiding such drama with their new system. No more “blackmail”, wink wink
This is rather amazing actually. People are complaining about not being able to fully experience the Living Story. Probably the most hated thing ever to happen to the game. Well it’s worth a few chuckles.
I agree with lordkrall by the way. In fact, having a few weeks to experience every part of the living story was already extremely kind from an MMO point of view. You actually have to spend a ridiculously small amount of time at this game to get the full experience. All the time wasting goes into grinding achievements and getting spiffy rewards. Calling this blackmail is just laughable.
Basically every update they sent you a mail with the darn story instance shoved in your face. There was mostly absolutely no exploring or searching to be done to follow the story. You could in fact follow up on everything by spending 30 minutes every two weeks.
It’s understandable if you didn’t want to do that because you didn’t feel like it. However you made that choice and I personally don’t think you should complain about it now. Sometimes you just can’t have everything, game or not. If you truly wanted to follow the story, there are plenty of means to catch up, from wiki’s to youtube guides and whatnot.
But that’s not the real issue here. This is about getting everything catered to you with minimal effort and dedication. Or at least that is the message I too am getting out of this.
…EVERYBODY would pick #1. That’s not an option we have, though.
Only because it isn’t given to us. It’s surely possible though, regardless of vague claims we’ve heard.
