Run speed is the same for all professions. Some are faster by using traits or utility (warrior can), if not then by putting a swiftness boon on themselves.
Guardian does not shine in the speed department, unfortunately. There’s options, but few, and it boils down to swiftness.
I love guardian, but I don’t PVP so I can’t help you there.
Anything you do gives you experience. Most people do indeed try to get 100% completion on maps to progress, as it works very well. Do heart quests, find vista’s, points of interest and hero challenges.
Grab yourself a gathering pick, axe and sickle and gather any resource you come by. And if you hit the requirements, go do the dungeon stories. Those are big exp bombs.
Another popular leveling strategy is to go to the Edge of the Mist map. This is a WvW zone, so you’ll go up against other players sometimes, but usually there will be trains, leaded by a commander, which focus on claiming points. This gives good exp.
However, I would suggest this for follow up characters. I think exploring the world is a very nice experience, I would suggest savoring it as it lasts.

You get magic, You get magic, Everyone gets magic!
Angel McCoy’s magical interview
Apparently it’s just an extra character slot on your login screen, labelled as beta.
I see. So we are in the red-light district, after all.
The waypoint you have selected has become contested. Would you like to be moved to a nearby, non-contested waypoint, or remain in purgatory?
New character has unlocked one trait line slot, I want to switch to another trait line but can’t because used up hero points in the useless trait line by accident but cannot reset to get back limited hero points. This is a broken system, please Fix it ASAP.
So you get a few more hero points from challenges, unlock traits in a different trait line and then switch trait lines. I’m sorry but that’s no big issue.
Also, all trait lines are at the very least beneficial, when not optimal. Stats aren’t linked to trait lines anymore, so you’re not losing out.
I can’t check in-game, but Spidy says the recipe doesn’t even cost 50s. I doubt making one and then MF’ing it is cheaper.
In short, just buy the recipe from the trading post, OP.
It’s probably something stupidly prude like promoting sex through playboy bunny ears.

Shame too, my Charr is ready for his makeover…

Verata recipes are only available in the Silverwastes zone, west of Brisban Wildlands. You can find them rarely in Lost Bandit Chests there, or alternately purchase the recipe from the Trading Post from another player who’s found it.
And with rarely he means almost never.
I suggest upgrading any T5 blood you have using the Mystic forge, I don’t think it’s cost-efficient for all the other T6 materials.
Yea, I also think Silverwastes is the best place to farm at the moment. Slay those Mordrem like you slayed the English language!
My suggestion, if you happen to have some mystic forge stones from your dailies, make yourself a mystic salvage kit and salvage all the rare drops you get. Ectoplasm is a rather important ‘end-game’ material. It’s pretty much used in any recipe for exotic or above quality gear.
So, basically, yes you want a lot of ecto to tap into later on. Now you could buy some, but salvaging rares gives you both ecto and materials, which you’ll want later too. So definately salvage.
If you can’t make a mystic salvage kit, use the master salvage kit. If you happen to stumble upon a black lion salvage kit, don’t waste it on rares, save that gorgeous thing for exotics, so you can get some dark matter.
Most people make money by running dungeons daily. Chest farming in the Silverwastes is also popular. If you’re going to sell materials, decide on your immediate goals first, because if you’ll have to buy them again later, you’re probably losing money in the process.
(edited by Evans.6347)
That’s way to cheap to begin with. It’s much more expensive to craft your level up to max.
But i agree with Jordo. The current system is in the lines of
‘Ok, you play your other characters daily, but we’ll give you some tomes over this time so you can skip another character to a higher level.’
And I rather like that
Have they answered certain questions about what happens if you are playing your beta Rev and you get daily rewards? Can they be put in the bank or are they going to be lost. What if you get the chest for the 20 laurels while playing on your rev because you didn’t notice the time? Those daily chests are character bound and they did say all progression would be lost. Can you even get daily/PvP/dungeon rewards while playing on the beta char?
Whatever you do on revenant, it wont matter. Progress from beta slot inst saved on your account. You can burn all you trasmuted stones if you wish on rev and when you log in to your “live” chars you will still have them.
I don’t care about the transmutation charges here. What I’m caring about is if I’m on my Rev and the daily reset time ticks over and I wasn’t paying attention, what happens to my daily log in reward chest? It’s char bound so I can’t transfer it to another char and if I open it, do I lose the item inside, including up to 20 laurels. Or does it appear again on a regular char if I switch after I got the daily login reward on my Rev, since no progression is kept.
I’m not going to try it personally, but if your beta account isn’t saved, I would assume you’d just get the chest again on your real account. It makes sense that if it doesn’t sync up your other stuff, that it would do the same for the daily.
:( I like that confirmation, helps me stop salvaging when using kits to salvage tons of greens. I can’t quite see the yellow border when in “salvage mode” as well as others might be able to see. Don’t remove, please.
Doubleclick savalge kit, type ‘masterpiece’ or simply ‘master’ in the inventory search and you’ll have all green items to doubleclick.
Good lord, you just saved me hours of my life!
…thats kind of sad when I think about it.
Why would they mind, it’s mighty convenient.
Once you’re doing the achievements a couple of times you’ll easily spot the very simple pattern, at which point you don’t even need to bubbles at all.
The rock achievement was the most difficult by far, because of random hits or overconfident movement.
True, but still the same mentality.
Besides, my personal experiences weren’t the essence of my point, but it matters not.
Yes, but remember, anything you post will be deleted at the end of the event!
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Gw2 is eSports
So no buffs for You…
Bravissimo, darling!
I’ve never gotten it from any other way, however, you can get armor boxes from finishing events in the SW. I have gotten at least a shoulder box like that.
The VW is still your best bet however. You are pretty unlucky actually, you should have had one by now. But don’t give up, at least you’re getting some nice spoils in the meantime!
Also, try to join SW events that are already on their way, to save some time getting to the VW.
To be fair Serenke, aside from the turret at Tequatl, there’s a very slim chance that one person can make an event fail. And people not way-pointing out of boss combat, thus scaling it up, is done just as much by ‘experienced’ players.
It’s that whole mentality you’re showing that has kept me from getting into Fractals over the last years. You can read and ask all you want, but in the end experience is still king.
The boy kitten eh?
I’d like to know what’s censored, but then again, curiosity killed the cat…
Lovely to see that you’re having such a good time!
Well, discarding the whole 4 thing, which I seriously hope is wrong, I still don’t think we’ll go up to the Isles. However, fingers crossed.
I would swear I read them saying 4 somewhere, but I can’t go looking for it now so…
But, they did however say in interviews that there would be few maps, but with vertical space.
I use mine on my S/S – GS Silverwastes Warrior.
Likely not the best, but it works for me.
Basically, Sinister is the condition ‘zerk’, so use them on something which abuses conditions.
I hear the Blood legion has a Tribune who is a Revenant.
I think it is wishful thinking.
Remember, 4 maps only. And they start right left of the Silverwastes. The guild halls are situated below that, and there’s action in the Falls. So it’s unlikely that the maps will go up much, let alone to the Isles of Janthir.
For what it’s worth, it’s probably one of the most interesting locations to actually go to for me.
Wasn’t the general consensus that they smothered us with info during the pre-purchase fiasco, so now they have to spread out the trickle more so they don’t run out of things to show off?
Thinking about it, that sounds pretty horrible =/
This is why my charr had a sexchange actually
And yet people still dont understand..Will you demand loot to keep while playing in new maps on beta toon? Nobody force you to make revenant and play it, if you cant handle the fact that you wont make any money during playing rev on beta slot then tough luck. Wait for release.
Oh no, i’m not asking anything. Like I said, I’m going to mess around with it somewhat, but they’ll get no useful data from me.
I don’t think people will demand drops from unreleased zones, they do however expect to get the same reward they always get from doing the same thing over again. Playing the revenant in a dungeon is not a reward by itself, and serves no gain in the end. Thus, few will do it.
Sounds reasonable at first, but what about new players that pre-purchase HoT with fresh lv10 character, should they also able to gain lv80 relevant loot (for example arah token) with a fully geared lv80 Revenant beta character? There are actually some rewards that is out of reach for newbie players, but they can bypass the inaccessible restriction by playing a lv80 fully geared Revenant somehow.
So what? No really I don’t see the issue…
So the newbies luck out and get a couple of tokens that are absolutely useless to them until they manage to get a lv80 character. Not going to pull Tyria out of balance, will it?
…most of the traits are in really awkward places these days.
Ikr? I was messing around a JP with my thief and I couldn’t find it for the life of me. It’s a bloody grandmaster trait! Grandmaster!
Granted, that doesn’t mean much anymore, but that really threw me off.
You know nothing, Jon Snow.

It is kind of a silly move, isn’kitten I’d think they’d want to encourage the use of the revenant in as many aspects of the games as possible to get good data. Instead they’ll have many people try out a couple of skills in a world map and ditch it to get rewards with their old characters.
Seriously, whats wrong with getting drops and currencies? Just flag the equipment that we get as ‘karma’ gear, so we cant salvage or sell it. What else do they need to cover anyway?
It’s an interesting concept at the very least, being able to somewhat link the Six to the Elder Dragons, without needing a direct link in this version of Tyria.
Why would you take away my ability to bluff about being a nice guy?
There’s 2 parts to dungeons, story and explorable. I suggest you do the story instance as soon as you’re allowed, because they are good experience givers and people in story are rather mellow.
The explorable version you can do before you’re level 80, but i’d advise against it. They are significantly harder and the people who run them are often much less forgiving to less experienced players. Also, the tokens you gain from explorable are really mostly used to get max level armor and weapons.
As for the scaling, that’s something people like to spout nowadays, but it’s a fallacy. A maxed out character will always do better than a low level character, maybe not in raw stats, but because they have more tools at their disposal.
However, you should indeed always try to keep your gear up to date. Like every 5-10 levels, get something new, especially for squishy classes. You don’t need rare or exotic stuff while leveling. Get cheap fine or masterwork pieces so you can keep updating it longer.
Finally, drops you get in dungeons I believe scale to your actual level mostly. The reward you get for finishing the story dungeon, however, is the level of dungeon.
Oh yes, on warrior you hit hundred blades, on guardian you hit whirling wrath.
Different experiences. I find that a guardian can survive an unexpected encounter far easier than a warrior can. Warriors need to kill before being killed, guardians can whittle down while staying healthy.
They don’t want you to buy skins.. they want you to buy keys for a % chance at a ticket scrap for a skin.
Guardians, Rangers, Engineers, Mesmers and Necros will be buying skins…
But yeah, the whole black lion chest thing is just profitting off gambling problems. It is not cool.
Oh yes, I’m all over those Wings of Dwayna
Most people will say that and I always disagree. I find that warrior can be pretty challenging while leveling solo. You’re not nearly as durable as you think you are.
Tbh, Guardian is likely much easier to start with. They’re naturally more tanky, have lots of utility for regeneration, stability and blocking. They also have adequate offensive power.
Now that said, warrior will teach you a far better gameplay style than guardian will.
If ‘The All’ is a general law for reality in the GW universe, isn’t there a possibility that the Six are in fact the “Elder dragons” from a different reality? One where the balance was broken, with disastrous consequences, leading the Six to finding a different universe for humans to live in?
Well, admittedly, I have encountered some of these problems with my partner too. But it was a ‘only happens once’ kind of thing. And also to blame on our own inattention.
Afterwards you know to watch out for these things.
I think you already answered your own question eh, if you want to explore and have fun, do just that! It really is a beautiful world to explore!
As for currencies, well…
For now you should look at gold first and foremost. That’s what you need to buy new stuff. Then there’s Karma, which you can use to get equipment and consumables from the ‘heart’ vendors which you unlock after finishing their quest in the world map. They can be useful actually, if you don’t have the money or luck with drops.
Finally, laurels will be something you want to save up until you hit lv80 and think about getting top tier gear for your character. You get those from daily log in rewards.
Those will be your most important resources during your leveling.
All right, I concede!
Linking the trivial nature of the problem to a lack of importance to people was clearly a fallacy of my part. I’ll kick the dirt, unlike your female human characters…
Define ‘many people’. I’m willing to bet that this is a non-issue to the large part of the community.
As to my contribution, touché. It was meant as a cynical joke, more than anything. I do apologize if I hurt your feelings. It was really insensitive of me, with all the distress this missing animation is causing.
No what I mean is that an idle animation is quite possibly the least important thing they could ever delete to me. Mainly because it serves no use whatsoever other than to break some very minor level of tedium while you stand there doing nothing but stare at your character.
The only way you can put any weight of importance on this is by making it a matter of principle, in which case there are still much more worthy subjects to moan about.
And yes, I do love to use the word asinine. It makes me feel rebellious towards the censor.
“Dragon Loaf bread”.
Recipe :
5 dragonite ingot
1 chilli pepper
1 loaf of bread
10 jugs of water=
+60 Ferocity
+60 power
20% chance to apply 3 stacks of burning on critical
+10% Experience from killsAdd that to the chef and i’m happy.
For the millionth time, there are no culinary applications for Dragonite ore. None. No good can come from feeding it to living beings.
