Hey ya’ll. I’m actively leveling a Mesmer, and am wondering if anyone can give me a hand with a Male “GW1 Mesmer” outfit, as I religiously played a Mesmer in GW1. I finally caved and rolled one here (even though they’re pretty different).
Similar to the one he’s wearing below. I know I can use the “Aurora Boots” as the shoes, but the Coat and Gloves are what’s hard to figure. I have no “Veteran Rewards” or anything of the sort, so I can’t get the HoM outfit.
Appreciate any help, guys! Thanks!!

Does the Flesh Golem “Charge” ability proc the 6-Krait Rune bonus?
What would be a good weapon combo for Solo-Open World, if you’re just killing stuff, clearing maps, etc? I assume Sword / Focus based on what I was reading.

lol , that engi reveal is pretty rough. 1vX/roaming just got really hard mode if there is a engi in the fight.
most engis (like myself) trait for steamlined kits over the stealth reveal trait for mobility so i don’t think it’s huge issue unless in a duel.
yeah, it’s very hard tho. just imagine being in the middle of the fight, getting random revealed proc and wondering why revealed is so long. thief needs to be extra careful now on d/p when seeing other engineers
I catch a “Revealed” debuff, I also catch an extra 200 Power (Revealed Training). So I always think “Lock On” is a fantastic investment after I Pistol-Whip the kitten out of them.
Frankly I can’t think of a better Thief Trait than “Lock On”. So I thank any Engineer that’s stupid enough to use it, as it actually buffs me.

What runes and gear you using?
FT seems to be working great for me (open world PVE), at least with the traits that I have chosen.
Curious as to which traits those are.
Care to share?
I don’t know where you got your number but before the patch I had 1899 condi damage with full rabid gear, pizza and crystals. Now after logging in with lingering curses and same setup im up to around 2.1k without might. Bleeds are ticking way higher then usual. On lv80 bosses I could maintain 5-6k bleeding ticks en have seen spikes as high as 9.4k ticks. When vuln spiked above 20 and full might stacks. I’m ready for my first 5 digit bleed tick!
Was doing SW event and was abusing Epidemic on targets with massive bleeds and burns, saw some burns ticks well over 12k…
Pretty much my exact experience here. Been working Epidemic like it’s…an epidemic…
Curious Gex, what’s your build and Utility Skills set up? I use Epidemic, BiP, and Spite Signet (due to Signets of Suffering in the Spite Line).
This thread’s about PvE, which D/D is the best possible thief weapon set combination for in regards to bosses, and one of the best in the game in general.
If I were into speed runs enough to care to change my build, I’d probably try something like this:
Skills and Gear:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQRAoY8al0MpvpFOx7J0PJBAAsN0GA-TVCBABVcQAqZ/hKV/5MlgYp8DgHAQe6HY4IAEwJAAA-wTraits:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgcB3ALkBeg~Huge might and permanent fury access through the trapping traits with Shadow Pursuit off of Shadow Trap for 15 stacks of might with permanent fury from NQ, reset trap cd’s through steal/thrill and maintenance of high might from Sigil of Strength maintaining what is likely to be around 12 from itself.
The build should be maintaining permanent 12-25 stacks of might and permanent fury uptime.
kitten . Strength Runes are hella-expensive too. Guess I’ll start saving, because the skills are almost exactly what I run right now, except I use Blinding Powder instead of the Trap (I also use Thieves Guild…). So it’ll be almost the EXACT same thing, save for one or two traits, really.
I thank you very much, as well!
The new meta D/D build is going to be D/D in the garbage can where it has been for months upon months.
Whatever you say…You must be a hoot at parties.
The party don’t start til’ I walk in.
Yeah…it must be that charming personality you have…

if u mean pvp it doesnt exist if u mean pve something like this http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgcBfAJkA6g~
critical strikes adapt and master and even gm depend on the situation
and shadow arts vs other trait lines depend on use for the thief too (stealth for skips vs evades for solos/hard encounters) but im not a theorycrafter
That’ll get me started. Thank you very much!

Just wondering what the new D/D “Meta” PvE build is going to be come Tuesday. I figured I’d ask the professionals who play and know so much more than me.
Thanks!

A Thief with an Environmental / “Heart Quest” weapon or a bugged out Harpoon Gun doesn’t confirm anything.
(edited by Faction.4013)
I see this topic sometimes discussed on the forums, but I never seen it discussed in detail.
Just wondering how this would work. I assume Thrill of the Crime & Furious Retaliation with the +Fury duration runes.
Anyone able to elaborate?
Hmmm…just goes to show how long I’ve been away BECAUSE of the terrible Condition Mechanic. Would’ve kicked me in the kitten if it was any more obvious.
Thanks guys.
I’m seeing comments across this forum about Conditions being “fixed” in the expansion but can’t seem to find any evidence of this LOOOOONG overdue mechanic rework.
Anyone by chance able to link or confirm what exactly is happening with Conditions in the future? Or is it all just a ruse, and the current Condition mechanic remaining as THE dumbest thing I’ve ever seen implemented in a game to date besides the RMAH in D3.
Appreciate it.
Forestnator—
I’ve heard it’s only slightly weaker and very viable, not that it’s game-breakingly impossible. Can you throw us a little math or something to back this up? I’m a little skeptical that it’s truly THAT bad. I’m not the only one that’s tried this.
I’ll just post my past experiences, and let it go from there:
I went for a spin in the Mists with a Zerker Amulet using an HGH – FT build, and was pretty underwhelmed…
I was at 25 stacks of Might, and was still hitting Flame Jet for under 3600 across the 2 1/2 second cast time on the light & medium target…I can do almost triple that damage with Grenades in the same span of time. Grenade #2 hits for that alone, not counting the Bleed damage. I can squeeze out 3 tosses (Grenade #1 twice, and a Grenade #2), and score 8400+ with Grenades in the 2 1/2 seconds it takes to cast one Flame Jet, and I can sit at 1500 Range.
As much as I wish & pray otherwise, the FT is still not a good weapon choice. It really does irritate the kittening kitten out of me…but it’s just vastly inferior to Grenades & Bombs, sadly.
The Flamethrower is among our LEAST viable kits that we have in terms of both Damage, Defense and Support. Bomb, Tools & Grenade Kits do better damage (by a mile) and the EGun is much better support. There’s absolutely NOTHING that the FT can do that another kit cannot…Smoke Vent > Smoke Bomb / Flash Grenade, Napalm (Fire Field) > Fire Bomb, Air Blast > Big ol’ Bomb, etc.
As much as it irritates me to say, the FT is just a garbage Kit. Until it’s buffed in Damage or other Kits are nerfed, it will remain that way.

Very nice. May have to try this on my alt.
Thanks.
Making Turrets viable with the current game mechanics is almost impossible.
You’re going to place a low-health, immobile, easily destroyed Turret on the ground with no taunt or threat-generation mechanic?
No way.
Gadgets and Elixirs will always be superior to the Turrets unless they add some kind of taunt / threat mechanic to Warrior & Guardian Shield abilities or something. Just buffing Turrets isn’t going to matter if they’re focused for more than 2 seconds…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/Warrior-Discussion#post2763830
Fantastic…considering I’ve literally played all of 2 hours in PvP, should this affect PvE at all, I think that’ll be the final nail in the coffin for me & GW2.
Conditions are actually very strong in the very low levels. But they quickly drop off in effectiveness. Wouldnt ever recommend condition builds for dungeons though.
This guy is right and wrong.
Leveling conditions is definitely an issue, I did it, and when I realized how much easier running Minions would’ve been, I was beyond kitten ed off…
If you want pretty much the easiest leveling process in the entire game, across any class, the Minion Master Necro holds that title.
Now, being a Condition-Build in Dungeons can actually be one of the best builds, honestly. Simply because of Epidemic. Whereas the MORE Condition-Based players you have in your group, the better it is. Only in Boss Fights where it’s ONE BOSS will you have an issue. Mossman, Blizzard Fractal, etc. Otherwise, you just run towards a crowd, hit DS, hit 5, then 4, then Epidemic and watch the damage roll in.
Everybody seems to love the “Black & White”…
I went ahead and separated myself from the rest of the trendy “Black & White” Hipster crowd.
Sapphire, Iron, Sand, Tangerine, Lifesblood, Gray, Antique Gold, and Dust.
8 different colors.

Nemesis, you kick heavy amounts of kitten . I thank you VERY much for your fleetlined presentations and all the effort you put into them.
Definitely the Champion of the Necromancer community. For sure.
What they need to do is give each player his / her own individual Bleed & Poison Stack. Just like some other games with their DoT effects.
Take WoW for example: Each Warlock player had their own Corruption, Immolate and Unstable Affliction slot on the boss, as well as other classes. Each Hunter had their own Serpent Sting, etc.
It really is nuts how restrictive it is for a Condition-Based spec. Especially for me, as I’ve put a TON of time and effort to getting my Necromancer geared with Ascended items and whatnot. even moreso when you break down the time needed to do optimal damage in Dungeons and Fractals.
It’ll take about 7-10 seconds to get my Bleeds rolling, I can score 25 stacks in about 10-15 seconds on my own. Imagine what damage a Warrior or even an Engineer can do in that time. THEN you have to take away from your overall damage based on other players and their bleeds: Warriors & Engineers bleed-on-crit, Rangers, Mesmers, etc…So I’d be cut down to maybe 15-18 stacks of bleed, which is pretty terrible damage when you’re decked out in BiS items and the Zerk’ Warrior in your group does over 12.000 damage with Hundred Blades in a fraction of that time.
It’s just insane, frankly. But with Anet, I’m not expecting anything special for quite some time.
(edited by Faction.4013)
Last I checked, a Greatsword Warrior can put out an unreal amount of damage with Hundred Blades. Exactly how much, I don’t know, but at 60 in AWFUL gear, I’ve put out over 5.400 with crits and “FGJ” sometimes. Which is slightly more than my Flamethrower Engineer puts out at 80 with ’Zerker armor (No ascended items). So I can only imagine what the GS can do at 80 with a pure ’Zerk Exotic set.
(edited by Faction.4013)
I’ll be honest, I don’t know that Warriors are capable of solo-ing Champions. I’ve never heard about it happening at least…
Especially with the common Greatsword build that just…blazes through anything else, really.
But then again, I’ve been away from the game awhile, so things may have changed.
Take your time with the LFG tool, as it’s only going on a Year since launch…
Nothing beats having developers gloat and embrace having Cross-Realm Dungeons, but no in-game tool to communicate with other servers to run said dungeons.
No problem though, I’ll just Alt-Tab out to another Website, jeopardize the security of my account and spam F5 for 10 minutes…
Right on!
(edited by Faction.4013)
Just wondering if anyone has ever tried this combination for an extensive amount of time.
I’ve been running it all week on my alt and have had rather great results.
I’ve used a traditional AH build (0/15/30/20/5) and took “Mace of Justice”. My stat sheet with a Hammer is ~2700 ATK. With a Mace / Torch it’s at ~2500, but the Support is much better and it’s definitely more tanky & survivable. The power of the Torch is impressive, as well as the heals and protection that the Mace gives. I’ve also crit for over 2000 on my Mace AA…which is crazy. I also get 5% more crit chance, because I can stack 2 Accuracy Sigils.
My Armor is all Exotic Knights except for the Chest & Gloves (Berserker) w/ Soldier Runes, and my Weapons are Exotic Berserker with Accuracy Sigils. My accessories & jewelry are garbage right now though…
Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Or am I just missing the gap that opens with the Hammer as you gear better? Anyone who HAS tried this and committed to it, what is your overall opinion & suggestion?
EDIT: I recently ran a 10/30/0/30/0 build and it was even better in terms of damage (I switched out the Accuracy Sigils for Force Sigils), and the loss of AH is overshadowed by the Soldier Runes & Pure of Voice.

I have been playing a P/D caltrop build for a long time and love it. This is a very cool addition.
What’s this P/D Caltop build you speak of? I’d like to give it a spin.
I’m just about to hit level 80 on my alt Thief, and Conditions are a preferred style of play for me.
Thanks!!
What about taking the “Terror” trait, and using Shackles and Fear at the same time?
I imagine that would cause a TON of Damage.
As we’ve said before, the releases this month include content that will remain permanently in the game (not all will, but some).
So…are we talking an actual activity to keep us interested? Or another NPC who’s still collecting the equivilent of Sonic Periscope Parts?
(edited by Faction.4013)
Is this right? The last long-term content we’ve seen since launch was the Fractals in November…
Since then it’s been all temporary content / events that only interest a certain amount of people at certain times (I loved the SAB, but detest the Living Story). When some of us don’t care to participate in the Living Story, we have nothing to do besides the same old content.
Can we at least get some new Fractals based off of the old events / content (SAB / MF Fractals) or something?
Reduce the Stack to 15-20, give each player his own Bleeding Debuff on the Target.
Buff the Condition Damage stat to the point where classes with Condition Damage builds do as much as / a little more Bleed damage then they have with 25 stacks, and call it a day.
You solve the cap problem, balance the classes, and buff Condition Specs to equal out with most classes in sustained Physical Damage.
Done.

They reset with the dailies.
K, Thank you!
A simple piece of information seems to be nearly impossible to find…
What time do explorable instances reset?
Same time the Daily’s do?
Or do they reset 24 hours from when you completed them last?
Thank you…
Anything and everything you need is in this Video or it’s links.
Nemesis is among the most informative Necromancer players on the planet. You do what he says, and follow his advice, you’ll be a powerhouse in any & every aspect of the game.
Come back? Was it ever available anywhere but PvP? I really like the looks of that armor, but I always thought it was PvP-only.
At one time in Beta, it was. But they took out the vendor who sold it before launch.

does race matter?
Besides appearance reasons, not really.
There’s some nifty Racial Utilities, Like the Sylvari Seed Turrets, the Human Hounds of Balthazaar, or the Asura Golems, but I’ve never heard of people choosing a particular race just for those.
I chose Norn specifically for the Tribal Tattoos (that you can no longer see with the current armor…), as I see my Necromancer as more of a Witch Doctor.
(edited by Faction.4013)
any weapons of choice?
Again, anything really. Your minions will be your prime source of Damage. I’d personally suggest an Axe / Warhorn. Axe will stack Vulnerability so your pets can do more damage, and Warhorn will give you some moving speed.
However, I’d suggest getting a Staff in one of your 2 weapon slots. Staff is required in almost ANY Necromancer build. And the Blood Mark (#2) gives Regeneration when triggered, which is good for your pets.
Best of luck, champ!
If you need anything else, feel free to post. I’m sure people will help in any way they can.
(edited by Faction.4013)
Use Minions and the Supporting traits for them… you can pretty much arm yourself with a Bag of Oranges and be unstoppable.
You’ll have one of, if not THE best leveling spec in the game.
Hay! C’mon guys!
