I think his point his that almost every living story feels like a holiday event rather then an actual event. The Molten Alliance for example felt like an actual battle though I still think it could of been done better with some of the world stuff going on. Everything else feels like a holiday with some bad guys. The Aetherblade Pirates just feel like party crashers and not a real threat. They are like clowns gone wrong.
They did say that they wanted to get the holiday rotation down before they moved on to more permanent content. Which i would expect to be much more epic. And Why would theifs crash expensive parties it is where the loot is. What I’m surrprised at is they never attack inforce only one ship at a time.
Yet they physically dump you out of arenas. I see a major contradiction there.
Erza Scarlet could this be Scarlet of Aetherblade pirates?
To be honest, there really isn’t an issue with balance here. I’ve looked over a lot of posts about the gauntlet’s content being too difficult for certain classes, with some even claiming it’s -impossible- for certain classes, but I have to respectfully disagree. While the Liadri fight is certainly tough, I don’t think any one class has it easier than another. I think it comes down to the -player- having it easier over other players. Sure, guardians, mesmers and the like have access to built-in mechanics that allow them to completely ignore damage, but timing is still crucial with these, and many players that main these classes are still struggling.
Me? I main a Necro, and it took me a few tries, but I was able to beat Liadri myself, using only the two dodges my class is equipped with and no other real damage prevention mechanics. Just to note, I never once had to change my build or slot skills for this. I used the same 30/25/0/0/15 set-up with full berserker from tier 1 all the way to tier 3. So, while I agree this content is challenging, I think it’s silly that people are complaining about it being impossible or ‘too difficult’. The current level of difficulty for the gauntlet bosses is what A-Net likely intended it to be. While some people might be able to finish it quickly, it might take others a bit longer. As Chopps said, a lot of people are probably used to instant gratification. A lot fo what A-Net has done in the past has encouraged instant gratification, with many meta achievements being able to be accomplished through a few hours of grinding out content. This is different. It doesn’t involve any grind—it involves skill.
BS… People are complaining about it being impossible or too difficult, because the difficulty is in the entirely wrong place… The content isnt challenging and it does not involve any actual skill… The only skill it required is finding the gimmick, and that’s seriously NOT a fun way to do encounters… Nor are the fights that are purely luck based for certain classes… All of the classes have atleast one of those along the way so it’s about even playingfield for that part, but dont kid yourself thinking that gimmicks are in any way hard skillwise… People expect SKILL based difficulty, and when skill simply isnt enough, because they havnt found the gimmick, then THAT is when people complain about the difficulty… You can tell them the gimmick, and the fight suddenly becomes super easy… That’s not skill…
Wrong the challenge is using the gauntlets(wrong term) to increase the difficulty and reward. The mentioned that the content itself isn’t that difficult it is the added debuffs and conditions that make it very hard.
I notice that games made in North American cultures usually have nemesis are purely evil for the sake of being evil. Like you have this evil dark lord that is out to kill everyone. There is absolutely no reasoning with him, so heros need to stop him.
When you look at games from Japanese cultures on the other hand, the nemesis are not purely evil for the sake of being evil. They actually have a philosophy. They will have a different way of seeing the world, very different from the main character. The nemesis would usually have a long conversation with the main character to express their view on things. But it is still up to the hero to stop them from their twisted ways and logics.
e.g. Nightmare Court
NA version: They abandoned Ventari teaching for no reason. Now they are just purely evil and wants to kill everyone.Japanese version: They abandoned Ventari’s teachings for very valid reasons. And they explained it very clearly: They want to protect and preserve nature from the other 4 races.
The words of the centaur sage Ventari are carved into this stone. More than a relic, the tablet is the moral foundation of sylvari society.
Read the tablet.
I. Live life well and fully, and waste nothing. Yet all 4 other races couldn’t care less about the well being of the life around them, and waste and destroys everything.
II. Do not fear difficulty. Hard ground makes strong roots. Exactly, because we Sylvari are born the guardians of nature. Nature wants us to fight back against the races that are slowly bringing total doom to the world, which we all saw clearly in the nightmare.
III. The only lasting peace is the peace within your own soul. Peace will only come if the other 4 races agree to abandon their wasteful and destructive ways to nature. Else, there is no peace until all enemies of nature are eliminated.
IV. All things have a right to grow. The blossom is brother to the weed.In their greed for growth, the other 4 races consumes everything in their path. They are denying the growth of all other life in nature.
V. Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil or sorrow. The greatest evil the Sylvari can do is to let the other 4 races continue to destroy life in the world.
VI. Act with wisdom, but act. Our wisdom is correct, and we are acting on it
Continue reading.
VII. From the smallest blade of grass to the largest mountain, where life goes—so, too, should you. The nightmare court will bring back the balance of nature to the whole world, as it was meant to be.
One thing i want to point out is is the Nightmare Court had these noble ambitions they wouldn’t be back-stabing and kill each other in Explore.
We know it exists from novels will it come back so that there is a yearly rotation of arenas of different cities?
One thing i want to point out is how can the clock works use dragon energies as destroyers?
Do a force calculation energy at impact is exponential with mass(maybe not) demonstration of relative height fall. Ant falls off table(still alive) person jumps off cliff dead.
The mountain Zitain was on was above the clouds which makes it minimum of 1.2miles high or more(based on height of cumulus clouds).
If you watch myth busters damage from g force of fall is only mitigated by slowing the deceleration at impact and it is physically impossible to decelerate using padding or shielding for example from magic. If Zitain didn’t slow his decent i garentee he is dead cause impact will liquifie enternals regardless of armor or magic.
Cause they want to change the bosses and areas. Makes sense that people you kill you cant fight again.
Spoiler alert
Just saying your brothers and sisters who fight beside you die left and right and return as risen you have to kill. Almost every act of living story is like that people sacrificing themselves so the pact can advance. it is surprising that the army even made it to Zhaitan at all. Just because you don’t empathize with the people dying around you doesn’t mean they arn’t dying in the thousands. The fight with Zhaitan was not without loss is what I am trying to point out. We didn’t even inflict damage on him, we shot of his wings which are the weakest point of dragon and destroyed mountain he was on so he took fall damage->and then supposedly died. Fall damage increases with mass. It was exactly like “How you trained your dragon” ended without the fire.
You do realize that the arenas drops corpses of loser into area below. Like a the roman colosseum the ground is infused with blood. What better way to honor the god of war I ask you then an arena full of battle and blood.
You are hereby invited to Queen Jenna’s Aluminum Decennial!
…
No, it doesn’t have the same ring to it.
No aluminum in gw2 sadly. Hardest metal to purify till electrolysis.
Maybe it is 6 domes for the 6 dragons. Maybe we will see dragon minions boss fights in there eventually. 6 areas too. wink wink
So then the queens pavilion is an extravagant waste of space 11/12 of the year then? Build something heavy on faulty foundation it will fall eventually.
I’m calling it right here that at the end of the Queen’s Jubilee the great collapse happens again. First one was never investigated and what they build is much heavier then the town that was previously there(assumption). This would also explain why the arena isn’t perm content even tough it is expected to be extremely popular to the player base. Also this will let divinities reach return to its previous state before the celebration.
It would be funny if the great collapse happens again because it was never investigated. Would explain why the arena is perm content too. Would be awsome lore wise too.
I love how no one noticed how kiel sucks at her job. Everyone in LA is going to die. not saying Evon is better but Kiel track record as commander is horrible. She was in charged of a festival security durring a terrorist attack allowing flying ships to pollute the skys. We had fireworks we could have shot them down incinerating them before they invaded. Why didn’t you learn from SNAFF if you like someone you don’t put them on the sidelines in committees. I bet EVON now takes over the living story.
And to point out above: humans only can preceve 3 maybe 4 dimensions(time) when the world itself contains many more so what reality is cannot be contempleted by humans easily.
I plan to just keep mine in the collectible tab and never ever use them at all. I’d prefer to not be reminded about how poorly this event was implemented and how boring the story is going to be from now on due to it.
Agreed. Another boring, goody two shoes Trahearne 2.0 storyline where we do things and she takes the credit. Do yourself a favor and just delete her mini. It’s a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.
How is Kiel a Trahearne 2.0? Please explain. If you talked to Kiel you would know that she acknowledges and thanks you for all your help.
Reason they compare Kiel to Trahearne is they are suppose to be epic heros who do absolutely nothing in instances and dungeons . Kiel ha absolutely no support to the players in fighting. The story surrounds them but the feel like a waste of space. This is of courses compared to Rox and Brane who fought epically against the Molten Alliance. This is why people compare the two. Actually it is a good thing she stopped doing dungeons and got a desk job she was on the road to get herself killed.
Q: Isn’t the reason to take away Queens Gauntlet is invalid because creatures in it are clock works. Automation run on their own no additional maintenance required. Death animation itself is they become deactivated on the kill not destroyed. What is the point of having an arena if you aren’t going to use it. Could turn it into PVE: PVP 1v1 arena fights where people wager gold that others can watch. Cost of building arena isn’t covered by one event even world cup stadiums and Olympic stadiums are used out side of the reason they are build.
I find it really sad that the argument people use AGAINST permanent content is “they say they will be doing it”
Guess what they also said they would fix the lacklustre dungeons back in january… Look what still hasn’t happened.
They also said back in November that fractals were easy to add, guess what hasn’t happened.I don’t want temporary content to go I just want some stuff to stay that makes sense, the clockwork arena makes sense to stay, also I doubt it is going to be destroyed as the twitch stream simply said “oh we don’t want it to seem like jenna is having a perpetual celebration” and “it may come back if people ask, I am not making any promises”
Really? how about fun content, I was kitten ed that the abbadon fractal vote was tied to a character that had no story introduction and that permanent content was determined by people who either didn’t know about it or didn’t care because they don’t play fractals THAT isn’t fair nor is it respectful.kitten I hope EQ Next does well, it is looking good so far.
The issue with GW2 isn’t the game, it is the choices being made for the game, a lot of the stuff that can be done can be done with little effort and with a balance but people at arenanet atleast the ones in charge seem to decide “well it is either all one way or all the other way”
One thing id like to point out look at the first dugion they fixed AC making it much much harder which had alot of negative feedback. So they had to re-access their approach probably.
Reason to do fotm is cause fotm wepons will be first to be ascendable in which they will most likely get cooler skins. but that is a little speculation.
Points:
-They said we would get Augest 5th to vote
-updates are on Tuesday
-Probably half of GW2 population got to vote on the 5th
If you have left over votes post them here and who you would have vote for to make point
He never talked about the difficulty of fractal.
He just said that he hopes it’s a fail (story wise) so ppl who voted for Ellen will realize the mistake they did.
Story wise either fractal will probably not have much in them. I mean look at the Ascalon fractal, not much lore there other than you seeing that the flame legion is laying siege to a city. But hey, they could surprise us and make a really awesome fractal.
Fore reference there is alot of lore there it is part of the searing which is when ascalon was destroyed. Get to play a pivotal part of human history from perspective of char. Point out you must not know lore to make this comment.
Just asking did they end the vote early i thought we would have all day Monday to vote cause updates are always tuesday.
I wonder if they will ever show the vote tally to see if Keil actually won
There is some emotional parts even if it isn’t directly tied to the player. The bomb expert dies blowing up the risin ship you have to tell his wife he died. The is a mission where a boyfriend sacrifices himself to save his girlfriend and they he comes back as a risen and you have to slay him. There is alot of emotional stuff that drives people to fight zitan even if it isn’t directed at the player. To point out the npcs would fight him even if the player wasn’t there your role is small in the big picture.
One thing id like to point out is how can any race have an empire when each only controls one city? empires usually span multiple countries which in turn have multiple cities.
Kryta has one capital city but a large number of towns, not all of which you can visit ingame due to space issues. Though Kryta I’d really consider a kingdom, not an empire.
The charr have three major capital cities. Remember, what we can go to is only Iron legion territory. There’s also the Blood Legion and Ash Legion reasons, which are just as large as the Iron Legion territory we see ingame, further north and east. They are a legitimate Empire, only thing really stopping them is the fact they are technically three government bodies working toward the same goal. That and the enemies in every possible direction.
Hardly an empire, when there is no emperor. Empire is, by definition, multiple nations ruled by a single leader, emperor. The charr have three separate legions, which could be seen as acting as nations working together, however, in the absence of Khan-Ur, no single charr rules over them all. None of the nations of Tyria apply, either. Norn and asura don’t even really have a nation, and with sylvari it’s arguable. Technically, the sylvari live in anarchy, as they have no ruling body, not counting advice and direction from the Pale Tree and the firstborn. Interestingly enough, even without a ruler or government, they still have armed forces keeping order.
The sylvari are a monarchy. The pale tree is the ruler.
The Pale Tree doesn’t give commands to the sylvari. Each sylvari is free to act according to their will, the Pale Tree just gives guidance. Though she does act as a representative leader in a sense, she can’t decide, for example, for the sylvari as a whole to fight in a war.
Ok, it’s more like a theocracy. She’s like the high priestest of the dream.
Doesn’t the pale tree program their memories at birth so their personalities are programmed. born with knowledge but not experience. So how they act is partialy determined by the pale tree enslaving the sylvari to its will.
I vote for dragon render only mortal to ever physical wound Elder dragon in a 1 on 1 fight. Battle on epic proportions. Not only did he fight jormag and escape. He took back is tooth as a souvenir which all norn test their metal against. He is the measuring stick of all Norn warriors
I thought voting would end with reset so i have 150 unvoted tickets so sad
I hope they put up a post about this to explain it a bit further before the patch. I belive it was implemented to negate the dungeon farms so that you don’t get the loot from the dungeon champions twice. Open world champions is a bit tricky though, there is indeed quite a few easy ones in the open world. I hope they scale it with the difficulty of the champions just as the dungeons.
I think they did it so you can’t get coin drops from most bosses and use GF to farm dugions which was the only thing it was for. Honestly their will be no garentteed coin drops from kills anymore to use GF for.
GF is gold find not girl friend.
One thing id like to point out is how can any race have an empire when each only controls one city? empires usually span multiple countries which in turn have multiple cities.
I’d like to point out asura are brilliant to a fault. They only think about advancing technology to where they don’t think about experiments to carefully. Half of experiment blow up in there face I think the ratio is like only 1-5% of apprentice live to become masters.
I like the STG parody though. send bombs through the stargate wha wha wha
Hey now, you saying robots can’t be elegant? C-3PO would like to have a world with you!
The mini shows a naked robotic soldier with bolts for n_ps holding a Halibert so ya they are pretty elegant and sexy. I might be seeing things though.
Honestly looks like a robotic poll dancer in combination.
The clock work toys go berserk again
-better yet queen is murdered
We always get a mini seat with each release in BLT so what exact is your complaint?
Still 50k likes away a lot of nice rewards before end of July. I think a lot forgot about it so posting here.
nothing in this game is actually hard to get especially not gold
I just want to point out it wasn’t cannons that killed him it was the fall. We shot off his wings then destroyed the mountain he was on. It is absolutely true larger they are harder they fall. More mass you have greater G force you feel at impact. The Impact probably liquefied him.
Is this Mr. Sparkles and Raving Asura from Fotm?
With this shift towards account-based magic find, and getting completely get rid of magic find that has been added to armor and weapons, it seems a bit unfair to certain people. There are some people (like myself) who have spent quite a bit of money to buy magic find stat items, so it seems as if the money spent on that will essentially disappear… Any thoughts?
maybe they will replace it with karma find then no one would care with infinite karma loops.
It’s still RNG madness. But I have a feeling ANET finally struck a balance between profit and fairness.
I like how we can get weapon tickets all year long, instead of having to stock up on keys and wait for months.
Clame tickets have 25% chance of droping cause they replaced black lion key drops so you must have very horrible luck if you think this is still RNG at all.
Ha Evon come out with support banners in BLT for both parties himself and Kiel he is raking it in for this election. Shows how brilliant he is. You honestly think he wont work in the interest of commerce in LA?
-Vote Evon he will line your pockets with gold
Maybe a dragon will awaken during the election swoop down and drop a ballet for the election by eating one of the candidates. instead of events always being announced there should be sudden and shocking turn of events during announced events.
Story-wise, I’d vote for Ellen Kiel (and that’s what I’m gonna do, probably).
Bonus-wise, I’m indifferent. I neither need cheaper waypointing nor BL keys.
Fractal-wise, I’m more interested in the Reactor, so again, Ellen Kiel.Seems like a done deal, right?
But then my boyfriend pointed out something this morning that I hadn’t considered. The Abaddon fractal might come with new models/textures while the Thaumanova story wouldn’t require them. But I would like to see new models and textures. It’s still speculation, of course.
Anyway, before you lot welcome me to the dark side: I’m still going to vote for Ellen; however, if Gnashblad wins, I’m going to have fun with the new content anyway. And PS: waiting for him to d evil things and eventually removing him from his position will be fun, too.
If you mean new models and textures for the gods themselves, I will be really disappointed.
As WoodenPotatoes (lore guy) pointed out in his video, no mortal can look at the gods without going blind, and that is what made them mysterious. You can’t look at them.
There was only one mortal who could see them and that was Malchor the Sculptor.
So, I’m torn between wanting this fractal or not. Battle with a god sounds fun, but remember that the fractals is a small thing that you repeat over, and over, and over again.
To battle with a god should be special, and not something you do over, and over, and over again that you don’t even want to do the fractal anymore.
This also leaves me wondering if ArenaNet remember things like these, that the gods can’t be seen, and that the fight was over the Crystal Seas, and that makes me wonder how the fractal will be done if you can’t see the gods.
So you are throwing away what may be your only chance to witness battle the gods because it is repeatable. Why don’t you just do it once and never do fractals again. There problem solved.
Maybe they cant be seen from a first person perspective but we see the world through a third person perspective so we should be fine. maybe they only couldn’t be seen when they first appeared cause they didn’t want gawking believers following them everywhere. Your points are nulled cause you never got to meet the gods in GW1 for confirmation of rummer of what other npcs said.
4 weeks.
at 20% discount, you’d save 6g in those 4 weeks if you do meta/cof;arah dailies
A conservative estimate and if u do that you will make 145g so is 6g is that much of a discount to sway your votes. u can easily make 400g durring those two weeks just by sitting your characters in COF with 75%GF using no waypoints. You should be doing cof before they impliment that champions no longer drop coins in dugions won’t be able to grind COF path 1 anymore.
Leave Kiel as a living story hero. Vote for Evon
I ran across Gulik Oddson at Killeen’s grave in Fields of Ruin the other day. I haven’t read the GW2 novels, but his dialogue heavily implies that he was romantically involved with Killeen, making it a Norn-Sylvari relationship.
I read it and Killeen was a nice and sweet Sylvari who did everything she could for the group. When the Branded came she stood tall and fought as best she could until her end.
Gulik Oddson lost a cousin, Gyda Oddsdottir, thanks to Dougal Keane’s expedition to Ascalon City. He met Killeen while hunting in the Caledon Forest. They were good friends, but not a couple in the romantic sense. So I think his comment was more about losing yet another person close to him than being close to her.
Spoiler:
He also felt responsible for her death she died healing his wounds saving his life at the cost of her own.
Gods won’t set foot in our realm till all the Elder Dragons are dead. 1 reason is they hold a lot of magical power that the dragons want to consume. So they are Elder dragon magnets. Dragons from mythology are resistant to magic to logically any magic the gods use against the dragons will simply be consumed. Consequently, bones of dragons can be used to slay gods. Taken from literature and mythology.
There is a reason the great sword godslayer is made from jaw bone of a dragon.
As far as integrity goes Evon would be the first non-pirate on the council. I bet he will decrease taxes on trade would be one of his first initiatives to improve his own business. Which would put more g in our pocket.
