I win at least 90% of the time.

I’m a pro.

We need to be able to race friends only.

Hello.

Yes, this is something that really needs to be done.

Sanctum Sprint sure was fun in the start, but when I have done it over 10 times with strangers, it’s not as fun anymore.

It’s not that I mind the strangers, but I do mind that I am not able to race against my friends only, or able to join them in an easy way.

I like to compete, and I have done so my whole life against my brother in many games, I don’t think Guild Wars 2 should be any different if you want to play with friends only and no one else. The Minigames doesn’t even need to give rewards, I just want to be able to do it with people I know only.

I don’t know what ArenaNet’s thoughts is about this, if it is something like ‘’You should not see other people as a hassle and you should play with them’’

As said, I don’t know what it is, but it sounds almost as bad as the ‘’No first person camera because of immersion’’ explanation.

I don’t dare to use abilites fast, as in be quick to press them, because if I do, I end up falling and teleporting all over the place and then crash on a planet I have no idea where it is.

I still almost win every sprint I enter, if I don’t end up teleporting all over the place.

Almost the exact same trait set up I’ve been using in WvW lately except I’m running increased retal duration since the 25th patch.

So why 3 water and 3 monk and not 2 of each with 2 major sanctuary? Do you believe 100 healing power is better than 10% boon duration?

As he said in his post, you may change whatever you like to, this is just what he has been going with. Try to go 2 monk, 2 water and 2 of the other and see how it works!

The Berserker way are for people who know what they are doing, (I do not mean non Berserker people do not know what they are doing) they have learned the encounters and they can dodge when the time is right.

That is why we get so many groups with people dying and wiping all the time, because there are players who go the full Berserker way without knowing when to dodge, and how the encounters work, they just go Berserker because they have heard it’s the best, which it isn’t, and then we have them whining on the forums how everything is hard because they can’t advance somewhere.

That is why, the Berserker way are for people who know what they can do, and what they can’t do. They know they have to kill enemies swift, otherwise they will take to much damage and get downed.

I myself are a Healway Guardian. I usually roam WvW alone, looking for 1vs1 fights, and often end up 1vs3. I got so much healing power that I regenerate faster than what opponents can damage me, they either have to stay and die, or retreat, or wait for more friends to come.

Isn’t that bar brawl just a dynamic event in the new area? Just because it’s named bar brawl doesn’t mean it has to be the mini game bar brawl.

We already got the race mini game which looks awesome.

No Bar Brawl is actually a full blown minigame, it is not related to any dynamic event in the new area.

So ArenaNet added 3 new mini games in the next patch? The Sanctum Sprint race, the Belcher’s Bluff drinking mini game, and a bar brawl?

I thought the bar brawl mini game was saved for Divinity’s Reach.

Edit: I don’t see anything about a bar brawl mini game in the July release patch notes, only about the Sanctum Sprint and the Belcher’s Bluff thing.

Edit 2: Leif on the Guild Wars 2 stream doesn’t mention anything about a new bar brawl mini game, he just says it’s an event that will occur if some supplies doesn’t come up there fast enough and a fight between the patrons and the instigators will start.

No, the bar brawl was something that was being talked about since before the game release.

You can already see the achievements in the same tab that Keg Brawl, they’re just giving those unused achievements (because the minigame doesn’t exist) a separate tab. That’s all, they’re not adding it, just separating each activity in the activities pannel.

That I already know about, I just thought they meant that ArenaNet added another bar brawl mini game to the game :p

I’m having a blast with this build in WvW when I solo roam when I just want to have fun and not support others.

I’m able to take on at least 3 other players that is not down leveled, though if any of the opponents are skilled I will most likely not succeed, but that’s how it is!

I was going with a 0/0/10/30/30 build from the beginning, I just needed to change the weapons and gear pieces!

The build got so much variety.

EDIT: I can’t see the name Celestrial anywhere, here’s a picture I took from Bogotter’s review.

That’s a typo most likely. Just like the old “Glacial Lonestones”. They ended up fixing the name on Glacial *Lode*stones, however if the typo only exists on the recipe, then it might just remain there forever, as it isn’t as noticeable as one of the lodestones not being called a lodestone.

But there is Celestial Dye

Celestial is not something you go full for, but just some pieces. Celestial is something you go for if you know what you are doing with your attributes, like if you want to balance some stats out instead of going full damage, healing, toughness, vitality etc. etc.

Celestrial (yes, that’s how it’s spelled)

I can’t see any spelling anywhere like that, nor on Google, or on Guild Wars 2 Wiki. You sure that is what the new armour stat is named?

Guild Wars 2 got a really good RP world.

I have myself not roleplayed in Guild Wars 2 seriously (I have only guested on Piken Square and check other people roleplay because I think it’s fun.)

The things Guild Wars 2 needs though to get better and enhance the roleplay more is to have more interracting world, that meaning being able to sit on chairs with a click, improved chat options and channels, and also smoother emotes (smoother emotes being that you should be able to go from /sleeping to /standing in an animation instead of blinking up, and that your weapons are still shown on your character instead of disappearing the moment you do your emote.)

Farzo.8410

I don’t understand what this thread is about-are you asking for the best utilities per profession? Or utilities that aids in countering popular specs from other professions? Or utilities that people expect/demand you have for dungeons?

Also an apostrophe doesn’t denote sarcasm, the title and OP doesn’t really address any actual issue so there’s nothing to mock or ridicule in the first place-result sarcasm is impossible, " force’s" is an apostrophe; ‘forces’ are quotation marks. Once again your post is basically ‘what utilities do you always use?’…I cannot fathom how you could find anything to taunt/ridicule/mock from that-at best you could say you used ‘force’ ironically…but again without proper context (e.g. a post investigating why dungeon groups ‘force’ profession x to bring skill y; or why guilds ‘force’ their members to bring skill z in wvw) it’s just poor choice of words imo

No? I’m asking what utilities people feel forced to use, or more like, what utilities they feel like they must have on their slot.

It feels like you try to see the bad in everything. Don’t overanalyze stuff.

I think too many people think that professions have a set role.

While it’s true that some professions are better at something than the other, that is not always the case, especially not with the Guardian.

Guardian is more than bunker, we do really good damage if traited to it, and we have really good support too. Guardian is really balanced, we can do almost anything, that being damage, support, or bunker.

Ranger – Definitely Signet of the Hunt for +25% move speed
Guardian – Shouts in general as far as WvW goes. I love the idea of Consecrations (Hallowed Ground stability sounds awesome) but shouts allow for much more versatility in the open field. Consecrations such as Sanctuary have crippling CD even when traited too.

OP I would consider changing this topic to Utilities that you feel are a “staple” to their respective professions. Feeling “forced” is a bit negative
Also, maybe expand the topic to weapons or trait lines as opposed to just utilities?
Just something to consider, good post!

I could rename it, but I named it like this because the more ‘dramatic’ the name is, the more people will get their attention to it, that is also why I put the apostrophes on ‘forced’, meaning that I was sarcastic, because people aren’t forced to anything, it’s their own choice on which utility they take.

I think I will stay with the utility topic for now, but people can post more things if they feel like it ;P

Are there any utilities for your profession that you feel ‘forced’ to use?

As an example, I just can’t play without ‘’Retreat!’’ on my Guardian. ‘’Retreat!’’ grants me swiftness and an aegis. I do WvW a lot, and my Guardian feels so slow without it. Especially if I somehow end up in a 1vs1 fight. Every profession outruns me if I don’t have swiftness.

There was a person working at NCsoft who was Korean I believe, and he didn’t like that ArenaNet mixed cultures. That pretty much means that Cantha, and such, is a mix between Asian cultures, both Japan, China, Korean, etc.

TDLR; Cantha is a mix between different cultures and someone who, at that time, worked for NCsoft didn’t like that so they scrapped the idea for Cantha at that moment.

My story is not 100% correct, but it was something in those lines, about mixing cultures.

Guardian Weapons: When to use what?

in Guardian

Posted by: Farzo.8410

Farzo.8410

You can pretty much take whatever weapon you want to any build. But, I can give you some example what I use what weapons for.

Starting with Main-Hand Weapons.

Sword; it’s a strong damage weapon, with a blind and a reflect ability. I usually use sword for strong damage and AoE damage, since it hits foes around it as well, and to support my allies, by blinding the enemies and reflecting projectiles. The sword is also very good for roaming (as in, running around, since you can target any enemy and teleport forward.)

Mace; this weapon I sometimes use in a dungeon if the enemies take a lot of damage on my allies, I don’t really need to say more. The symbol applies regeneration, your auto-attacks heals yourself and your allies with the third chain, you also get a parry attack.

Scepter; ranged weapon, nothing more, nothing less, good for fights where you can keep your targets away from yourself or allies by using the immobilize skill.

Let’s continue with Off-Hand Weapons.

Shield; my favourite, and this is what I use with the sword, you got skill that does damage and applies protection to yourself and allies, and also a very good knock back skill to interrupt anything.

Focus; a weapon that protects yourself from damage, and also gives you a ability to cure condition, apply blind and heal. The focus is pretty much a weapon that mainly ’’focus’’ on yourself, and not the allies around you. It’s good to have if you need to shield yourself for some seconds from heavy hitting attacks.

Torch; a damage off-hand weapon, it works great in dungeons with the burning, the burning condition is really strong. It’s a good AoE off-hand.

Going for Two-Hand.

Greatsword; everyones favourite it seems. It’s the strongest damage weapon in the game for almost every profession I would say. For Guardians it’s a great support weapon too because of the symbol it places, giving people retaliation, deflecting damage back to the attackers. Overall it’s just a weapon that does great damage, and a little bit of control because of the chains, great for interrupting or pack enemies together to AoE down.

Hammer; a great control two-hander. It controls your enemies with symbols, and wards and heavy AoE blast damage. It works good pretty much everywhere, mostly in modes where you meet other players and battle against them, since many bosses or similar can just run through everything since they got permanent stability. Otherwise a really good AoE weapon with support abilites, since it applies protection.

Staff; a great support weapon, and a great AoE weapon. The staff got some healing abilites which works great anywhere. The might stacking is also really, really good. The AoE auto-attack makes it awesome in zergs in WvW or enemy packs in dungeons.

That’s pretty much it..

Female asurans and male Aetherblade armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Farzo.8410

Farzo.8410

I don’t know the reasoning about the Charr but I gather they didn’t want sexy armor on a character that looks childlike. So they made the female Asura wear male armor only.

Edit: not saying because this armor is sexy but its a general ruling they made iirc.

The reason is because of lore.

Asura and Charr, both male and female are considered the same. There is no discrimination between the genders.

A female Charr is seen to be just as deadly, scary, cool, yada yada, as the male, they do the exact same work as a male charr do, they can do anything a male charr can, and vice versa.

Same with Asura.

That is why they do not have different clothing options, just to show that, that the genders have no meaning in their society.

Events are just too similar.

Hello.

I think these events we get are far too similar to each other.

I’m mainly talking about the achievements you can go for. They feel all the same for all the events, them being ‘’collect these many’‘, ’’kill these many’’, ‘’do these stuff x amount of times’‘, ’’gather this’’ and so on. In my opinion, I feel less motivation to log in when all the events we get are getting similar.

I don’t know how you others feel about this? Do you think the achievements, ore the events themselves are getting too similar and it’s getting stale because it’s not interesting?
