It’s been talked about over and over. I don’t think there is one person at this point that would agree that Anet lived up to their hype of “an expansions worth of content” that they were spewing a year ago.
remove the /r from the url, or you will be taken to the results.
I can’t help thinking that the mean girls meme would fit here perfectly.
I think every server has beaten her at this point. It’s being beat in overflows all the time.
What do you guys think? I believe that by the end of this living story “season”, Lion’s arch will be rendered useless by either being destroyed or by some other disaster.
I agree. Waypoints make the world feel so small.
I would rather see better armor first.
I can see it now:
“But wait, there’s 3 more patches after this. You have to be patient. They’ll be epic!”
“But wait, there’s 2 more patches after this. You have to be patient. They’ll be epic!”
“But wait, there’s 1 more patch after this. You have to be patient. It’ll be epic!”
“But wait, the next LS season is coming in a few months. You have to be patient. It’ll be epic!”
I think this is a big problem with Gw2. People are always waiting for something to happen to make it worth playing. Here we are a year and a half later still waiting.
I logged in again to try it out. Not a fun update for me.
It’s kind of funny. I really like how my thief plays, but the world/content just isn’t fun to play it in.
Mmos tend to talk about population when its at a good number.
We knows sales have gone down every single quarter since release and there isn’t any popularity when it comes to twitch or xfire. There are currently 125 viewers on twitch watching gw2 right now. Eve has 250, Ps2 has 700, Wot has 1200, wow has 7000 and headstone has 15000. Gw2 only averages 200-400 overall.
Take what you will from that, but it doesn’t look good.
Dueling will likely be added as long as people keep asking for it.
Just add an option to always decline duels and call it good. Hell, it even fits into the game immersion wise.
I’d argue crafting isnt nearly as effective as it used to be and that WvW leveling is actually faster, pending your server and its WvW activity.
You can level in a few hours with crafting.
Crafting is by far the quickest way to level. It can cost quite a bit of gold.
It’s in a bad state for me right now. I’ve actually gone back to WoW and GW1 because GW2 just can’t keep my attention for more than a couple minutes at this point. I can’t think of anything I would find fun in the game, so I just don’t log in. Although, I am looking forward to this huge feature update they are talking about.
Didn’t log in to check, but I’m at like 500 hours played and played during the headstart.
I truly believe over half of those hours are me sitting afk. Between leaving the game running while leaving the house and tabbing out to do something else.
If you want a specific dye, just convert gems to gold and buy it. I don’t see why that doesn’t work for you.
Because the item bought is random. Kinda the point of the whole thread.
Haha, I should have actually read the post.
I completely agree with the randomness being bad.

I haven’t been playing for awhile now and this update won’t get me back into the game. I can just hope that this big feature update is actually decent. I won’t hold my breath.
Haha, that’s awesome.
As far as I know, the server population level is determined by how many people are on at that instant. That’s why sometimes servers are “very high” and sometimes “high”.
How many people make it “high” and how many people make it “very high” no one but Anet knows so they are free to manipulate as they wish.
It has been confirmed by the developers that server population is based upon how many accounts are at “home” on a server.
Not how many are active.
Common knowledge by now, look it up.
Then how is it possible a single server can sometimes be High pop and sometimes low pop?
The same reason some servers say “very high” and there’s hardly anyone around.
Some servers are very active on the PvE side. I wouldn’t ever advise buying this game for its SPvP, it is almost completely dead. I’ve heard WvW is active, but couldn’t confirm that myself.
I also heard that GW2 broke 700 viewers on Twitch recently. Not sure that has happened since the pax event.

Do we know when they will release the information on what this big thing is?
Most would say that the game gets worse at higher level. I personally enjoyed 1-30 the most.
I see a lot of complaining in-game so what’s the point of this thread? XD
Although: Yes, GW2 is the best, despite all it’s flaws, but we’re supposed to find those flaws and bring them into attention so that the game is improved. Would be nice to get all my friends to actually want to play again instead of telling me there’s nothing to do anymore or that their frustrated with all the bugs, temp content instead of perm content and the creeping grindyness.
The logical problem with your thought process is that you assume the complaints are correct and that listening to them will make the game better. Players aren’t developers and often what they want and ask for would be worse.
The problem is people don’t know the difference between their opinion and objective fact.
The difference is the people complaining don’t have nearly the stake in the game as the company who financed it or the developers themselves.
So maybe they make the changes and your friends come back and they lose an half a million people in the process.
Just because you and your friends like something a certain way, doesn’t make that way better. And it doesn’t mean there aren’t tons of people who would hate that game and not want to play it.
Anet made a game. If you don’t like it, by all means, don’t play it.
But too many suggestions are out there that either won’t make the game better at all, or simply aren’t compatible with the game as it stands now.
Didn’t I kill you in Final Fantasy 12… its been a while. Always liked your hair…
Pretty sure it’s a LoL name.
Hate: The game, it is simply not very fun.
Like: Some of the scenery. Just wish there was more variance, like forests and deserts.
(don’t “hate” the game, just dislike how un-fun the game really is.)
“I can confirm I am not an Anet dev. kitten . I can also confirm this has been blown WAAAY out of proportion. Still, fantastic theorycraft everyone!”
Quote from the Lewis guy. Maybe it won’t be gamechanging after all. Probably end up being a decent novelty like player housing. Not sure how that’s better than an expansion though.
are we dere yet
Colin meme pics never get old. lol.
Besides, don’t get too excited everyone. LewisB runs a fansite, and he’s not a dev.
That is the only reason I am excited. If Anet said the same thing, I wouldn’t care or believe it. The fact that a player is saying that it’s better than an expansion means so much imo.
Everyone needs to keep in mind that it isn’t Anet hyping this up, but a guy from a fan site.
I dunno why any of you think a third party not at all affiliated with Anet would know anything….
The last time hype like this started up it was to reveal scarlet….and well that wasn’t better than an expansion.
It wouldn’t be the first time that Anet released information to the press before the public.
I am extremely interested. Something more exciting than an expansion being released!? Whatever it is, it sounds like it will be completely game changing if it’s better than an expansion.
Well, I double checked those numbers and you can download the financial reports here: http://www.ncsoft.net/global/ir/earnings.aspx
According to the financial reports, Guild Wars 2 sold 256,000 copies since Sept 2012. That doesn’t add up in any way with the statement below (from GW2’s wikipedia page)
As reported by NCsoft and ArenaNet, by September 13 (about 2 weeks after launch), despite temporarily halting first-party sales, the game has sold over 2 million copies. By January 2013, over 3 million copies of the game have been sold. By August 2013 the sales have shifted 3.5 million copies.
It is likely
Maybe a dev can step in a clarify things *cough *cough
It is likely only counting digital sales directly through Ncsoft/anet.
Here is a stream of it going on right now.

Oh that stinks. My beta app hasn’t been responded to yet so I couldn’t have known that. There’s videos all over YouTube right now so I assumed it wasn’t NDA. Anyway, I was just hoping to hear a GW2 player’s perspective on the game.
You can occasionally catch it on twitch. Players just playing the game. Doesn’t appear anything is being held back.
I haven’t had a chance to play it. It looks pretty fun though and I have only heard great things about it.
You received an expansions worth of stuff in the first few months of the game being live and you still want more?! Maybe they will release another expansion size of content here in the next couple months!
You’d be BIS in WoW for a couple months only, after a horrendous grind and begging your friends and guildies to run last tier’s raid to grab those last few essences, at which point they release a new patch and you throw your legendary on the scrap heap with all the other useless tinkertoys of obsolete stat sticks that you can’t even use as a transmog.
Here my legendary is truly Legendary, BIS forever. GW2 respects my time investment, something I never got from WoW.
GW2 is very grindy compared to any of the mmos I’ve played in years. When I say played, I mean games I actually got into and played for more than 10 hours.
You sound jealous.
I would like to know what those MMOs are..
WoW, Swtor, Rift and GW(not a mmo blabla). I haven’t played Swtor or rift in a long time, so things could have changed. Grind seems to be a very subjective subject nowadays.

They sold out.
Sites that are not listed as an approved retailer are fine. I would just check on the reviews of the site. In this case, I wouldn’t trust this website you listed from a quick google search.
I think it made them look bad by presenting that goal and not coming anywhere close to meeting it. With that, I would never have expected them to still give out rewards.
I resubbed to WoW yesterday and leveling my pally healer(87) and a DK tank. I definitely prefer the trinity over straight dps.
The goal was to get a million likes by a certain time. The goal wasn’t made by months and months.
It was done with the SPvP population after they reset the leaderboards. I don’t see how you would be able to tell PvE population by their achievement points though.
I think you’d just have a very wide range ballpark figure with PvE achievement points. It looks like they only tell you your in the 90th percentile before you become part of the top 1000 ranks. However you might be able to do some analysis on the trend in the difference of rank points from the top ranks to the bottom ranks in order to gather a more accurate number.
We won’t be able to determine the active population though. We know that there was over 3 million copies of the game sold, but will likely never know how many of those are active players.

I’m actually expecting a big release to compete with eso. Thinking either something Cantha related or the crystal desert.
Didn’t they already confirm that they plan on adding vertical progression with the inclusion slots?
Kind of odd. Gw2 was also massively’s runner up for the most disappointing game with its living story.
Considering a quarter of 2014 is going to be dedicated to more Scarlet, I will just wait and see.
