What is the point of gating this content with gold/time barriers? We don’t pay a sub for the game, so I don’t see a reason that you would need us to spend a week plus to level AoW to 5 by saving influence or spending gold. What are going to be the reqs for other guild missions?

Overall, it seems pointless to have these gates.

There are a lot of really cool things we could do with the combat log that would benefit the entire game. This could include making sure all combat events show up, color coding, and even skill links. This polish could be rolled into the death breakdown as well.

Everything is a “could”, when are you guys actually going to implement some of the things into the game? Everything is talk when it comes to Guild Wars 2…

You will want to go to Tarnished coast if you want PvE and go to Anvil for PvP if you are NA. Most other servers are pretty barren in PvE and overall PvP is dead. Not sure what WvW is like on any server though.

I left a game that had this, it was hugely irritating to be endlessy spammed with duel requests. It was one of the many things that drove me from the game.

It was not that everyone wanted to duel, but those who did…never stopped challenging people. A complete PITA.

So personally I hope it does not become a similar system where I must put up with endless interuptions from people wanting to duel.

Would at least need a preference to auto decline duels.

Which game was this that didn’t allow you to automatically decline all duel requests?

Custom arenas, what happened to them?

in PvP

Posted by: Fernling.1729

Fernling.1729

Dude this game is still in Beta. They haven’t finished sorting out the queue formats, the ladder and progression, let alone the rewards. Custom servers are a nice feature to add to a game that’s already fully fleshed out and thriving – i.e not a tiny facet of a game that is still no where near completion and is still leaking players like a busted water main.

Let them finish making PvP playable and enjoyable to more than just us masochists still hanging around (ANet owes us a big ‘Thank You’ IMO for helping them finish their game) and then Custom Arenas will make sense.

I could provide you a thousand links that say they will not release the game until it is finished, “when it’s ready”. Sorry, but this is the game and it shows us what to expect in 6 months time.

Has there been any talk of expanding the cash shop to greatly increase the appeal to PvPers and make the SPvP side of the game completely F2P? I personally think this would be great with a proper rating system.
Not only would this increase the amount of people in PvP, but could also raise the chances of these people to purchase the PvE/WvW side of the game too.

It’s one of those small things that shows A.net really cares about their players. The only time you ever see a dev tag in <that big MMO> is when they ban you, even with cool events.

Don’t overreact. It was just an employee playing the game. He wanted a boost, so he got one. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well … in many games I have the impression the devs don’t even play the game they’re making.

Most games don’t allow any developer working for them to run around showing off the company logo.

Anet does right, it’s obvious that it’s a fluke, because their character indicates that they do wrong.

Why can’t people ever be happy or just let others be happy…

I think his point is that it isn’t a big deal. It doesn’t make them awesome or even get close to indicating they care for their players just by putting up some banners. It’s kind of a “hey, want a cookie?” type thing.

Yes, blues are vendor trash. But what if champs would drop a yellow every time like some people here seem to want. Think for a moment beyond yourself and think how would that effect the economy.

They cannot make drastic changes like that without messing up the economy. Guaranteed blues also means higher chance of better than blue, and it’s a lot better than getting a porous bone.

In any case, let’s just wait for the patch before bringing in the pitchforks and torches again?

The economy might actually be affected in a positive way. Right now everything is so inflated by the lucky RNG rolls that everything on the TP is way more than it should be. Throwing rares into the game could stabilize things by adding all the ectos into the system. I am in no way an economist, just could see this helping things.

I just looked into this. The problem is that you currently only earn the sword if you have exactly 10 HoM points. It might be too late for us to get a fix in for the Feb 26th build, but a fix will be coming.

You’re saying we need exactly 10 HoM points? So we can’t get it for PvP if we have 11+ points? I have like 40ish points and can use for PvE, so must be a PvP only thing.

Yeah, it’s been known, by the players at least, for a while now – we haven’t been able to get it, except a select few.

Give them 8 years.

Terrible argument. Every product out there has to compete with other products that have developed for years. It was the developers responsibility to release the game to compete with other mmos that are already on the market. Anet chose to release a half broken game with bad PvP.
This could have easily been corrected too! If it wasn’t for one of the slowest development teams I have ever witnessed. The game has been out for half a year and they have literally made a mockery of PvPers. The game is going nowhere and Anet has absolutely no intentions on spending anymore time on SPvP.

Thank god for their PR. If it wasn’t for them they wouldn’t have even seen the sales they have.

Optimal melee weapon build for PvE?

I am really struggling to find a profession to play that I can actually enjoy right now. I want to start my thief back up(lvl 33). This thief will only be focusing on PvE content, more specifically dungeons and high level fractals.

I am gonna be going with P/P as my secondary weapon setup and want to stick with pure melee for my main weapon setup. I really like the idea of D/D, but heard that it is not viable at all when it comes to high end dungeon content. What is considered the best weapon setup for PvE right now?
P.s. I absolutely hate shortbow, will not be touching that at all.

Your suggestions nearly mirror mine lol.

1. Less RNG.

2. Duels

3. New PvP modes

4. Less DR

5. Variety in everything. Skills, zones, enemy mobs(tired of seeing blue, pink, green, yellow, white, orange, blue moa in every other zone, changing their color doesn’t make them see like a worthy adversary)

6. More controlled/strategic PvE.

Just a few things I thought of.

Would you pay a subscription to play GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Fernling.1729

Being a rather poor person myself, I’m quite glad that the overwhelming majority of people said no. It goes to show that the MMO market really has changed over the years and hopefully for the better.

People are willing to pay monthly subs for mmos, given that everything is up to par. Take a look at Eve, WoW and Rift. If GW2 was an overall better game(funner, DR heavily adjusted, etc.) I would pay a sub for the game, but its not.

Is it really hard to add dueling?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Fernling.1729

Fernling.1729

Claiming dueling will turn people into invite spam bots is a wild exageration and a silly reason to not implement dueling.
Its as simple as adding an option to auto-decline all duel invites. Duelists will find a secluded place, most likely cool or big open areas like coliseums and hang in there.

Completely agree with you. Most arguments are about people being spammed with duel requests. What most don’t realize is that every mmo that has dueling, also includes an option to decline/refuse all duel requests. In turn the player not wanting to see or duel anyone will never even see a popup on the screen. Immersion wise, dueling is a great thing to add as well. There is literally no downside to having it in the game.

Actually you can expect a level cap raise but I bet that will come with an expansion and not content update. GW1 could not raise it’s level cap due to limitations as stated by one of the developers.

and what exactly does you base this one? I honeslty dont think nor hope so, one of the selling points of gw2 is that it should be accesible by anyone, by raising the lvl cap you do the opposite of that, and no matter how liniaer the lvling curve is it will eventually be very long time consuption to get to max level

I knew there will be people like you. I’ve prepared in advanced enjoy.

Highly doubtful on a level cap raise, ever. GW1 used a level 20 cap it’s entire life if I’m not mistaken. Also would not be holding out for a new class just yet either. Still a lot of balancing before more can be added. I would expect new areas and them filling out currently implemented systems much better.

Other than my personal conjecture it is just a wait and see thing. Devs keep the official plans secret and unless they announce anything (they haven’t yet), we just have to wait for them to make news posts when they are ready.

I’m just hoping for a huge surprise, something that will blow everyone away. I could see some kind of big plan in the making with a release date for Feb/Mar. Would explain why we are getting so little information on all the new content.

What we will get with "xpac of content"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fernling.1729

I know originally we were told to expect the patches that have so much content that it would be equal/comparable to as much content that someone would see in a paid expansion in Jan and Feb. I know that it was changed to Feb and Mar, but can’t find any actual information on what the content is.

Should I expect to see a new class? How about a level cap raise? Or even a new piece of the world? Has anything been said? I am actually a bit worried to see what we will receive. I am worried that they are going to fix more tooltips (they are in desperate need of updates and clarification) and fix a group of bugs, call it their xpac worth of content and be done with it.

Should I stay skeptical or has anyone found anything talking about what to expect?
Thanks guys.

The op is saying that GW2 is funner to watch than WoW. I am simply saying that every single person that logs goes to twitch tv has the option of watching any video there. The thing is that 20 times more people are choosing to watch WoW videos. If GW2 is more fun to watch, then I would assume more people would be watching it. I don’t watch videos of a game that I think is boring to watch.

Beyond this insignificant evidence it is very subjective. I don’t enjoy watching any gameplay videos, unless it’s to decide if I want to buy a game or not.
