Looks like he already stopped playing. Maybe he will pick it back up when the expansion launches.
I’ve never teamed up outside of doing dungeons and I’ve been playing this game since beta.
The game works in a way that you don’t need to team up outside of dungeons/pvp. Your buffs will buff other players around you even when you’re not in a group. I do believe that your buffs will give party members priority over non party members in the open world though.
The hearts and dynamic events are always very easy, even up to level 80 zones if you keep your gear updated to near your level. Even the newer zones that most would classify as being the hardest, mobs die within a few seconds when properly geared in berserker.
If you came from any other mmo, you will realize that the PvE is very easy in GW2.
I think the latest build fixed it. I think.
I can confirm this, I was at 88 power and 24% crit chance at level 9 downscale in queensdale yesterday and today i’m at 150 power and 46% crit chance.
I don’t think it is as high as it was before this patch, but mobs are now being one shotted again.
I would avoid spending gems on anything random. You will quickly learn that the odds are so greatly against you.
Sometimes bugs are fixed within a day and sometimes they take over two years.
haha… it all makes sense now.
Kinda funny how people only notice that their power is reduced.
The least Arena Net can do is say that they changed this.
Well, most people who are checking that kind of stuff are zerker build so yeah power is the first thing to pop out
And yeah… it’d be nice if they put in patch notes for stuff like that, but at this point it’s safe to assume that there are at least a few things that they leave out for dungeons each patch.
It’s affecting low level zones as well. At least in Queensdale I’m seeing a huge nerf. I’ve lost something like 50%+ of my total power and 25%+ crit chance.
Logged multiple characters in full berserker to check it and they are all the same way.

I know mine was at least 900 MB, I tabbed out after that.
I think it was like 1GB.
Yep, this patch is beyond buggy.
There is no best or worst profession, there is only personal perception, only play what suit you the most
Are you really saying that the game has perfect balance? lol
I actually liked Silverwastes for the first few hours. It got worse very quickly after that. Just like Drytop, silverwastes has to be my least favorite zones of the entire game.
The zone just feels like it was made to grind. There’s nothing of interest and almost zero replayability in terms of fun. Sure, it’s a great zone if you want to grind away for gold, but that’s about the only credit I will give it.I want zones that are FUN to replay. I don’t want new spots to grind.
And that’s where opinion comes in because the Silverwastes is one of my favorite zones to replay. I like the fact that early on before you get close to a breech event, there’s some actual challenge in trying to take back forts and protect them. There are very few events in the game that are that hard, with that few people around.
I think I’m in a very small minority of people that don’t enjoy the zone. It always appears to be one of the most populated areas of the game. There’s just something about it that I don’t like.
It’s kind of funny because my favorite zone in the game is queensdale. Maybe because I’ve spent so much time there doing the old dailies or something. I really enjoy the conversations that happen in the zone as well. Helping new players and just kind of relaxing is always fun for me. Being in a guild by myself doesn’t give me many people to chat with.
Implement a decline duels toggle and people shouldn’t be bothered.
I’d rather not have to deal with whisper spam “duel me fgt.”
No to open world dueling. I’ll straight up quit if it ever happens.
Yeah, that is such a problem in other mmos.
Where exactly does this irrational fear of yours stem from? From playing other mmos with open world dueling.
Give people more means to be irritants, and they will use those means.
No thanks. Go somewhere else if you want open world dueling. This game doesn’t need it.
I guess I do understand why people don’t want dueling implemented this way. I am just being selfish. If it’s not in the open world I really wouldn’t benefit from it.
I won’t be upset if its never added to the game.

“Its kinda I would want to avoid actually. It can get annoying if people do spam a duel invite.”
That’s what I’m saying. Auto decline duel option in your settings. It’s been in an option in every mmo I’ve played with dueling. You can peruse the forums in all the other games with this feature and its a non issue.
I would benefit the most from dueling in the open world, specifically when waiting for world bosses etc.
Implement a decline duels toggle and people shouldn’t be bothered.
Anet should also mention that the game won’t be balanced around 1v1(like every mmo out there that has dueling???) because some people think that the game can’t have dueling unless it’s balanced around it…
Sodapoppin probably set a record for fastest acquisition of a legendary weapon without spending cash. Less than a week!!
It certainly feels like a large patch or DLC. It might end up being awesome though. I will remain a skeptikittenil I see what is actually being delivered. This is brought to you from the same guys that delivered “an expansions worth of content”.
Calculate the cost for a full set of ascended armor. If you think that’s acceptable good for you. If you think it’s excessive I agree with you.
I couldn’t agree more. I’m currently working on a light set(one piece done so far! lol) and it is so expensive. I really shouldn’t have started with light armor when my “mains” wear medium… haha. I don’t plan on crafting med/heavy after this unless future content requires ascended.
There are a couple different interviews back from 2012(before release) where Mike O’brien talks about not having grind to get the best gear. If people are to grind it is for only cosmetics.

I think it’s a very positive thing for the game. There will be tens of thousands of people that will be introduced to the game because of him streaming and enjoying it. I believe this to be a huge amount of free advertisement. No better time than right before an expansion too.
Yeah, he wasn’t banned from the game, reckful was. Sodapoppin was bored of the game and has been playing a bunch of new games, mostly H1Z1.
It’s well worth the $40 too.
I’m thinking it will be $29.99. Mostly due to what appears to be a lower amount of new content I would expect from an expansion costing $40-$50. I do think it’s possible that it will cost $39.99, but no chance of it being $49.99 or higher.
I also think they will give the original game free with the purchase of the expansion. At this point they are basically giving it away with their $10 sales anyways.

This is an awesome thing for GW2.
I’ve been worried about this too. Them saying that there will be very few zones sounds really bad to me. Them completely avoiding any talk(unless something was said in the last little while) about dungeons has me completely blown away. I can’t imagine they release an “expansion” with a couple zones and no new dungeons etc. It’s starting to sound like a big feature pack with a DLC.
Low amount of zones can work assuming they have a high replay value. As it stands, the new zones we’ve received since the launch of the game has had some of the worst replay value for me, so I can only hope they are vastly different from those.

I’m guessing they have some pretty big things to reveal. I can’t imagine Arenanet would fly in a bunch of youtube/fansite people without providing them some things to share. It sounds like hype is the exact outcome anet expected from doing something like this.
I’m guessing we will see something about the new specializations. Maybe something about how the living story will work post expansion. Condition rework or seamless world(hot zones for now) in the works would be pretty cool too.
I guess people were saying not to expect much at the convention when they announced the expansion too.
The people who attended already said not to expect to much. Why would you think that they’re lying?
I don’t follow them on Twitter ot anything. I didn’t know they were saying not to expect much. I actually thought I saw something from one of them a couple days ago on reddit talking about how excited they were to release a YouTube video about what they saw.
If they are saying not to expect much, I wouldn’t expect much then.
Anyone specific talking about lowering expectations?

We’ve already had cosmetic mounts added to the game. What do you think the broomstick is?
This is definitely a matter of quantity over quality in my opinion. They appear to be taking the route that will make them the most amount of money for much less work than creating an entire armor set.
I can’t really blame them for wanting to make more money for less work, but I think cosmetics like this isn’t something that should be skimped out on, especially in a game that focuses on cosmetics being part of the endgame.
I’ve never been a fan of systems like this. Games like D3 greatly improved by removing theirs.
Yes, space is far too expensive. Yes, it should never have cost gems. But good luck convincing the fanboys who bought space 2 years ago that it needs to change.
Oh and evidently in a game about collecting stuff and cosmetics, you are not supposed to ‘hoard’ things. Oh unless you buy overpriced space that is. Then you are allowed…
/rollseyes
I would rather spend $10 for space as I need it, instead of paying $15 a month to have access to all the space, and if I stop paying that $15 a month I lose access to that space and the MMO.
Call me a fanboy if you want, but they are not charging us $15 a month to play a game we bought, having to pay $10 for bank space when needed is an excellent trade.
It would cost you $450 in GW2 to match the amount of character slots given in WoW. That’s 3 years of paying a sub in WoW.
You also don’t have to pay cash to change hair style/color(as many times as you want), cosmetics/wardrobe, to play on a different server, to expand your bank slots etc.
I don’t really have a point other than there are very obvious perks to both sides.
I’ve always preferred a subscription fee in mmos. Games like GW2 feel like they are built around ridiculous RNG that forces players into farming or grinding gold to obtain anything in game. It feels like everything revolves around that gem to gold exchange.

Just like every other profession I play in PvE, it will be in full zerker.
I think the backpedaling bothered me more than anything else.

I’m in a situation where I can’t spend a great deal of time or pay too much attention to the game I am playing, so the difficulty and gameplay that GW2 offers is really working
out for me right now.
Fortunately it has given me the chance to play through some of the personal story/living story, which I neglected previously. I’m actually really enjoying the story.
I would probably be playing the game a lot less if I could put more attention/commitment to some other mmos that I’m into. With that said, I would still say the game is in a great spot right now and would highly recommend coming back to get ready for the upcoming expansion.
Because you cannot gather Cloths reliably except for salvaging light armor.
I was getting a ton of silk from salvaging rags earlier today.
PvE side is probably what they meant. People are fantastic in PvE areas.
PvP is just as bad as any other game with PvP.
WoW comes out with an expansion every 1.5 to 2 years with almost nothing in between…and you pay a sub for that. And there’s a cash shop.
I don’t even play WoW and even I know this assertion to be false. Or are you going to play the “well I consider content patches featuring storyline continuation, new raids, new in-game armor sets, etc, to be ‘almost nothing’”?
You should talk to some wow players. They go in for 2-3 months, do the content and unsub till the next expansion. I have two of them in the house.
You should talk to some Gw2 players. They go in for about 1-2 weeks, do some of the content and stop playing altogether because they found the game to be boring. I have several of them that were coworkers/friends/family.
Then you weren’t paying attention a few months ago.
You saw people say that they want only an expansion with zero living story or feature patch updates or balanced updates in between? If you really did see someone say that, it was likely an isolated case.
I thought people wanted the expansion and nothing else. Living Story and feature packs suck, remember?
Is that really what you remember people saying? I remember people asking for both expansions and updates in between the expansions. I don’t think I have ever seen someone say they didn’t want both. Many people said the living story and feature packs suck without expansions being released as well.
I think them specifically mentioning a small amount of new zones being added is a little worrisome. Them not even mentioning anything about dungeons is a little scary as well. I have a feeling we won’t see new dungeons added, especially with them willing to remove the dungeon forum not so long ago.
I think this expansion will be a light expansion compared to some other mmos. I think the cost of the expansion will make up for it, though.
I meant my post was going off topic.
“Playing an MMO takes you online. Using the Internet isn’t the same thing.”
“He’s not even playing an MMO on the Internet. He’s playing an MMO online which isn’t quite the internet.”
Is what I’m mostly referring to. You are literally using the internet to connect to the game and to continue playing the game. I completely agree with all of your other points though. I just wanted to point out that these parts are 100% false.
I have a history of Cisco networking, so just being nitpicky. You’re still missing the point. I’m not saying he’s not in the Internet, I’m saying from his point of view, he’s just playing a game. The Internet doesn’t enter his mind. That should be inferred from the rest of what I wrote.
My sister plays Facebook games and has no idea she’s playing a game on the Internet. She goes nowhere but Facebook. As far as she knows, Facebook is a separate thing. I had a conversation with her where I explained that Facebook was a single site on the Internet and there were tons of other sites out there, and tons of other games.
Her response was that she heard she could get a virus if she went on the net, which is why she only uses Facebook.
It’s scary but there’s more people around like that than you think.
Some of those people play Guild Wars 2. What would THEIR common sense be? Common sense is all about points of reference. It varies from generation to generation and from location to location.
I understand what you’re saying and agree with everything you said. Im just typing on my phone and leaving out a lot of information.
I agree with everything you were saying about players and the internet when it comes to games. I don’t agree at all with the poster you were replying to.
You can play an mmo or any other online game without having any knowledge of the internet.
I just felt the need to point out that people are using the internet whether they known it or not. I read it as you thought the internet is different from what is being used to connect us to the game etc.
The main reason I was saying I was off topic.
Im using some old-ish hardware and get about 60 fps in pve zones unless at a big boss or if there are lots of other people around. That is with everything at max except supersampling.

DoTs in GW2 also constantly update based on your power, whereas in other MMOs, they tend to be static at the time they were applied.
This was changed in WoW with the new expansion.
Um . . . Vayne. He’s playing a MMO on the Internet. That excuse isn’t going to fly.
Playing an MMO takes you online. Using the Internet isn’t the same thing. SOme people still reach for a phone book because they don’t realize you can get the white pages. He’s not even playing an MMO on the Internet. He’s playing an MMO online which isn’t quite the internet. He didn’t have to open a browser to play this game which he likely bought in a brick and mortar store.
Intolerance is intolerance, no matter how you slice it.
A bit off topic.
I think you are confusing the internet with the world wide web(www).
Mmos are 100% played on the internet. Unless there is an mmo played on a wan, lan etc, you are playing a game using the internet.
Takes you online sounds like another way to say connects you to the internet.
You don’t have to open up an internet browser to be connected to the internet.
This is a really bad idea. I understand they don’t want to fragment the tiny PvP population, but they need to come up with something other than this.
I’ve been playing since beta and I’ve had like 3 exotic drops in total… lol
I think Anet would have liked to stick with just the living story and no expansions released at any point. Earnings dropping every quarter likely gave them no choice but to do the same thing that other mmos have done and release a traditional expansion. What happened to their spiel about changing the way that mmos are expanded upon yada yada yada?
How many MMO expansions have no new tier of gear and no raised level cap. Not too many from my experience.
You can change the way expansions are done and still charge for an expansion.
Again again, NcSoft has been talking about an expansion from the first year. In my opinion it was always the plan.
“setting up a new framework for how an MMO can grow its universe. The Living World was just the beginning.”
All that for no level cap increase and no new gear tier? I was actually expecting something creative and unique. Some kind of expansion that releases a substantial amount of content over a 6 month period or something. Not just no new level cap or tier of gear, which has been done before.
I’m probably just reading too much into it.
Either way, I’m happy with how things are going. I can’t wait to explore Maguuma and venture further into the story. The new zone from the PoI looks spectacular.

I still want to know what happened to their spiel about changing the way that mmos are expanded upon yada yada yada? From what I can tell, this expansion is the exact same type of thing that other mmos expansions do.
