Though for this specific problem, there is no reason to take the time as it is already very evident while working with the community that there is indeed a big problem with this match making.
It’s def a problem depending on who you are match with/against for that matter. If you have a noob on your team then it is; if you don’t have one then it isn’t. Starting to make sense why lol doesn’t put all of its player in the same bracket because I have seen diamond player struggle in bronze. But you are right, there I def a problem if you end up being the one who is suppose to carry every game.
I knew this will happen, even in amber u compete like a legendary player… I was diamond last season, I’m in division 2 now and there is a competition like in legendary division… I’m not saying that I’m bad, but sometimes a freshman is dead in 2 sec 1vs1..that’s normal?! How should I go up more in divisions when idiots like these players end up in my team?
Maybe it’s because you have a low MMR.. Kappa. Saying this because some people have being advocating that MMR is still used, which is true. But they should specify to what extent.
It’s not that bad. I’ve lost 3 and won 4 so far. Had a thief in foefire “lost” at start of a match cause he said he’d never played this map before, made me chuckle a fair bit. Got belted, least it was quick.
Well, how low is your MMR? Kappa
I agree with rancid but the OP point still hold. And Op have you tried duo q ing or something. I am currently solo q ing and I have encounter the problem first hand; but yeah you are better off teaming up with someone else instead of solo ing because your PIP range overrides your MMR now. First two games, I had were solid. From there on, I felt like I had to carry my whole team.
they ARE being used for matchmaking
you’re getting matched with teammates of similar mmr, you’re simply not getting matched against opponents of similar mmr now.
bs i had 4 ppl in my team who didnt even know how to capture points (total newbies) while the other team rolled over us like we were nothing. So pls dont tell me this nonsense. Matchmaking is broken even more than before end of story. You can say what you want but ppl here are having 20+ loses and thats not a bad luck thats something else.
They are being used but not to th3 extent you wanted them to. Idk how to say it but the pip range overrides your MMR now.
I played 9 games last night and won all 9 of them (the minimum to reach Emerald). I was queued with someone who reached Legendary last season. We also picked up another guild member later on. Only the later games gave us the slightest bit of trouble when one party member reached Emerald.
This is show you that you are fighting players who do not belong in Amber. Anet added the win streak feature so that players who are suppose to be in higher divisions get out of the lower ones sooner.
Now, not every player who isn’t suppose to be in Amber got out of it last night. They have lives too and may not be able to play enough to get out for the next few days. Also, some players might deliberately wait, either to troll or to try and keep behind the other higher tier players so they can advance without as much trouble. (Can someone confirm whether that could work?)
Give it a few more days for the highest level players to get out of your way. Things should change by then, and you’ll hopefully be back to fair fights.
Lol you duo queue, maybe the OP is solo q ing …. solo q just got cancerous barely holding on my 50% winrate. But wasn’t expecting otherwise to be honest, OP if you want better outcomes q up with a friend. Solo q ing is a pain, but at least it allows you to look at the gane or yourself from a different angle.

This^^ .. hell I would be saphir re by now if I had a teammate who knew how to hold points or rotate for that matter. FYI., I am thumbing up what kuroro said; somehow his text is not showing up.

I have both selections ‘selected’ – others are also reporting it is happening for them in ‘conquest’ mode.
That’s no longer true, seijwa said he clicked on unrank instead of rank. As a matter of fact, it happened to me twice yesterday. So yeah, this only concern stronghold players.
@Yak I main warriors, and I have done so countless times. The only match up I have issue with are against engi but I win those 40% of the time. So, what is there to balance? Fyi: you balance some5hing that’s broken, not powerful. So some classes are always going to be more powerful than others. As it stand now, there are no broken class … although, tanky reaper are no joke (lol those kitten tards are OP but not broken)
@Trepidation Lost .. didn’t we get one?
Promised balanced changes?? Who made the promise?? And what is there to balance??
I wouldn’t mind if the OP got insta banned, less troll on the forum.
Again somebody who asks to get his money back cus it’s not ‘balanced’ enough…
If you feel so bad about it, simply don’t play the game then.
Ikr… OP stop playing the gane or hop on something else if you don’t like the current state of the game.
(edited by Fivedawgs.4267)
Lol @wilson, I guess you can always play warrior till diamond.
Might feel one sided or whatever, but it’s player responsibility to turn it into what they want. As far as reddit is concerned, I tried to stay away from it, it’s utterly negative and opposing opinions do not get to be seen/heard/read.
Can’t wait to rekt revs!!
Couldn’t agree more, nic3 post OP.
I don’t need a team, I ll solo queue my way to legebdary. ???? . Just a thought though, wouldn’t it be better for folks to recruit on the forum instead of reddit?
Horrible idea, everyone of those cc has a cd. So this is pretty much a horrible idea, it would totally kill condi heavy builds, etc…
And Op if you are having trouble against condi consider taking 2 condicleansing utility skills instead of 1.
And you also want to get rid of stability?? OMG. .. L2p. Issue. And forcing people to.play with defiance bar isn’t competitive at all. No game does this. It’s like giving a death shroud to everyone else. Way to worsen the state of the gane.
No, I won’t even though I main warrior. Doing the same thing over and over gets boring after a while.
Lol, this has got to be a joke. You won’t survive a tf or let alone a 1 vs 1 with this build. But A for the effort Op. Lmao
Does it start at midnight?? I thought it would start at 2 pm ct tomorow?
Classes used in Unranked now:
-Scrapper
-Dragonhunter
-Thief(mostly high burst power, some decent condi builds sneak in)
-Bunker ele(High End pvp because bad players get punished now)
-Reaper
-Rev(both condi and flat damage)
-Killshot warrior, wildfire warrior is “Safer” because it cant be reflected, but both seem viable in low-tier pvp(amber-saphire)
-Druid is good in teamfights, but isnt used very often
-Mesmers are really challenging to fight (if they are good) in 1v1’s, when outnumbered they tend to get focused down quite quicklyNot my experience.
Dude don’t forget the double mesmers well, the cc that they bring in tf is insane!!! But yeah, most of them switched to condI PU mesmer but the chrono mesmers are still strong in tf.
The first sentence of warlord paragraph. And also it doesn’t matter how you cut it at OP, people will always be drawn towards the OPEST build. And warrior have like 5 viable builds atm.
Fivedawgs you smooth mother kittener.
Lol stop please, best warrior NA. Stop humiliating me!!! Please Senpai
I don’t know much about LoL and i don’t care much about this game. I just know, it hasn’t much in common with Guild Wars.
Toker switched to rev during the season (and let’s be honest, there is not much competition for Abjured in NA – he still changed class). And again, just because balance will never be perfect, it is not a reason, to not constantly try to improve it. The opposite is the case. BECAUSE balance is never perfect, anet should constantly work on it …
Ok maybe you missed what I have said up there. But during the pro league toker used a thief instead of a revs. If balance was solely affecting diversity or whatever he would have either stayed on his rev or picked a DH. Him picking a thief during a pro game shows that preference is a factor when we talk about balance/diversity. But I’ll elaborate more on it later.
What I expect from the balance updates is that there will be a change up in the meta and that new classes will become powerful and others will become weaker, preferably the ones that were OP in the previous meta.
The problem is, that not everyone enjoys multiclassing, and it certainly isn’t fun to see your favourite class being close to unplayable for months or even longer, just because it was strong in the past.
Roles and classes are definitely set in stone in high elo. A bunker thieves is crap compared to a dps or decap thief; or a healer/support/bunker ele is more effective than a dps ele. Granted that some classes can hold two roles at alternately equal standing, most classes do not reciprocate. To sum it up, at least 90% of classes and roles are set in stone.
Uhm, maybe we are talking about different things here. If we only look at a certain (balance) state of the game – then yes, you are right. But the game can change (it did in the past and will so in the future). And so can classes and roles. Just take mesmer as example: It had always a similar role to thief (burst/DPS/mobility). With HOT it became the most op bunker the game had ever seen. Now it is mostly … useless?
2- That’s not balance, that’s preference. We saw a mesmer at the tourney, Marvin ran mesmer because it prefer mesmer or druid or ele. Just like Vermillion ran druids instead of ele because the druids user prefer druids over ele. I.E. […]
Some people will always play subpar builds. Does this mean, it doesn’t matter how strong or weak classes are? Because some players will play them anyways? It was pretty obvious that mesmer or druid weren’t as useful as rev/ele/engi/necro (And still better than some other classes).
On your engi example: If engi would be still good enough to compete at high level tier, then he would probably stick to it. But what if this is not the case? He can switch to an other class, keep loosing games because of weak engi (and get kicked from Abjured :p) or stop playing the game (i think, 1. option is most likely).
Do you really think, nobody plays warrior or thief, because nobody wants to play them? Do you really think, Misha played necro only because he suddenly prefered it over mesmer (which was his main for years, even when it was not meta – still good enough to be sucessfully played at top tier)?
Many player have switched from their main class to a different one – and i doubt, it is only because of personal preference.
4- I agree but Anet has to careful if they are evr going to implement class stacking b3cause we don’t have a large toon player nor a larger player pool to implement something like class stacking.
Uhm, class stacking isn’t something which has to be implemented. It is already in the game. We are talking about a rule AGAINST class stacking. Which currently only exists in tournaments and which wasn’t necessary in the past, because – even if balance was far from perfect – there were enough reasons to play different classes instead of stacking few.
Maybe I should have used toker as an example to get my point across, toker played thief = crap tier over rev god tier last season. So yeah . Just look at Lol, let’s not be close minded here, what has riot done about the crap tier classes in Lol?? And I am not saying it doesn’t matter how weak or strong some classes are. My point we would always have a weak or strong class so balance is this case is not the problem, subjectivity is. If you class get nerf you d hate the balance and vice versa.
Back to your first point, how many players ranted when that happened?? I heard warrior were hit the most by the changes. So, are you actually pro- HoT type of balance?
Thief bunker was viable last season… I know folks who got to diamond with bunker condi thieves. They out sustained yoh with their evade while their condi slowly ate you. And I was just stating the fact. Facts are fact so..
You read me wrong there, I am not saying that’s too much, it’s just that you can’t have two classes on EQUAL STANDINGS. One is always going to be better than the other and preference also plays a huge role on what getting picked in ESL/tourney. For example last season, DH were better than thieves in every way expect decap ping ( which was kind of hard with bunker mesmer sitting on point) but toker still picked thief over DH when not on his revs. Logically, he would have been better of with a DH instead of a Thief since DH were better than thieves last season but he chosed a thief?? Why ?? Preference.
(edited by Fivedawgs.4267)
Not sure, if i get your point. Maybe we have just different opinions about what “balance” means.
Just a few notes:
1. Roles and “tiers” of classes are not set in stone, many classes can be used (at least theoretically) for multiple roles and most roles can be divided into “subroles”. Thief and guard for example – while both being able to fullfill a dps role as you have stated – are used for completely different reasons: mobility/decaps/+1 vs teamfighter/aoe dmg/point control.
2. If it is optimal to use a class multiple times in a team, while other classes see (almost) zero use, this is not what i would call “good balance” or class diversitiy.
3. We don’t know, how diverse pro teams would look without a class stacking rule (which already exists for quite a while). All you can see is a forced diversity, but not a diversity created by balance.
4. Yes, “perfect” balance is impossible. But you can and should try to come as close as possible. This is why i see balance more as a process and not as a (final) state of the game. And a rule against class stacking doesn’t benefit this process.
2- That’s not balance, that’s preference. We saw a mesmer at the tourney, Marvin ran mesmer because it prefer mesmer or druid or ele. Just like Vermillion ran druids instead of ele because the druids user prefer druids over ele. I.E. let’s say a new tabky/bruiser class was added, whom taknyness/ bruiserness was on par with engi. But the new class had 5% advantage over engi. Which class do you think chaith would chose?? The Great tier class = new added class or the Strong Tier class= engi?? I ll bet my money on engi because someone preference always override the balance. So I wouldn’t link preference to balance.
3- That’s what everyone has been doing, Lol, Dota, etc.. I have yet to see a game ( MOBA , SPVP MMO) where the balance solely fixed the game. Lol for example doesn’t elo mirror teams and also ban op champs in champion select.
4- I agree but Anet has to careful if they are evr going to implement class stacking b3cause we don’t have a large toon player nor a larger player pool to implement something like class stacking.
I expect other rules in the coming months, like forbidden traits or skills, restricted profession/amulet combo, anything to compensate for the complete lack of balance.
By the way, today is one of the 8 days anet discuss balance in a year. Morning is dedicated to watching season 1 finals. Afternoon is for analysis and, if time permits, some number tweaks. And please, don’t feed them bananas or peanuts, they need to concentrate.
What I expect:
- DH —> Increased trap damage and invulnerability duration (0 DH in finals).
- Druid --> Increased pet damage and immobilize on pet’s auto-attacks (1 druid out of 20 spots).
- Thief —> Increased staff damage coefficient, energy regeneration and mobility.
- Mesmer --> Halved CD on Signet of Humility.
- Warrior —> Bugfixed tooltips.Crossing fingers
Lol, this I exactly why I can’t take anyone who post on this forum seriously. Lmao at those suggestions, definitely a L2p issue.
(Problematic)
With the trait changes last year it was suddenly possible to take more and stronger traits than ever, which allowed to cover more weaknesses and create builds which could do basically everything – hello d/d cele ele …Even if other classes are only slightly weaker than the top class – which was imo the case pre HOT, theoretically every class was sort of viable – there is no reason to take them because … well, why would you take something weaker if the strongest class can already cover all your needs?HOT just added more powercreep, therefore the problems remains/became even worse.
The best solution imo would be (more or less) heavy nerfs to basically everything. Creating equally strong-at-everything classes is not possible – but achieving more diversity through individual strengths, which should always come with certain trade-offs, should be possible – it was in the past.
But of course a rule to prevent stacking is a much easier way to pretend, balance and diversity are fine …
So how is the current meta any different from what you have listed above? The way I see it, there are no strong at evrything classes and the classes themselves are pretty diverse. Let me break it down further, down below I will delineate the roles of each class and their respective tier:
1- DPS
In this category, we have Warrior ( my main), Revs, DH and thief. Revs are stronger than thieves which are stronger than warrior. Revs= GREAT tier .. DH= Upper strong tier …Thieves = Strong tier .. Warrior= Good tier. No matter what Anet does, the discrepancies between those three classes is always going to hold true.
2- Support/ Healers:
Under this category, we have druids, mesmers and eles … like I said again between those there, one is always going to be better than the other because they accomplish the same goals. So here again someone is going to be left out.
3- Tank/ Bruiser =
Engineer, and I can’t think of another class. Might as well insert Druids in here or Bunker guards. But engi do a better jobs at tanking, etc….
4- Condi
Warrior, Necro, Mesmer, Ranger (non-druids). Here again necros outperform anyone and No matter what Anet does; necros will always outshine every other class when it comes to cobdi.
My point being, the balance and the diversity are there. It just in each respective tier some classes outperform others.; and due to human psyche, they are bound to be taken 90% of the time. So it has nothing to do with balance, and I like to believe you d agree with me since you have mentioned rule against class stacking at the end of your post.
(edited by Fivedawgs.4267)
@ Crinn, Well at some point, majority of the classes are decently balance, but now it’s half of the classes are OP and the other half is completely trash. As a player, i just want most classes are on the similar power level.
But that’s not possible. I belive that was crim’s point,no matter how you cut it some classes are always going to be OPer than others. It’s true in Lol, Dota , etc…
And just to be curious OP, what do you want Anet to fix. And FYI, Anet won’t fix or tone down revs, even though they are Op I still can beat them with my warrior, but what exactly do you want them to fix or tweak?
In line? you’re kidding right? Aegis, you seriously contend that’s worth anything?
Shield got multiple nerfs.
Alacrity has been crushed so far as to be worthless in pvp, though I run it in dungeons sometimes. I run teaching paths and the noobs need that and the double tw and /or [FeedBack] sometimes.
Rev has a block comparable to old shield, as does engi. Hell… some of the guardian blocks are close. Warrior probably has similar though I don’t play it often enough to know for sure. Daredevil has perma evade and a killer auto attack. In the case of engi they also have an elixir that does basically the same thing. Oh and they have better tanking than a pre nerf chronomancer.
How was shield or well bad again?
The other thing is this. ANET destroyed most of what Mesmer had. Witness the pro players.
Chaith mocked me pre patch saying I was paranoid and that Mesmer would be strong post patch. He was dead wrong. I Abjure his statements.
ANET has a long history of nerfing Mesmer very hard and leaving it broken for months or in some cases literally years.
Dude, I hope you realize that we have prepubescent kid who have yet to develop their frontal cortex. I mean, it doesn’t take rocket science; this game has 9 class so , at least , 4 classes are garanteed to be left out.
so, in other real esports games like Dota and LOL, how many champs/heros do they have? Are you saying it’s norm that always the same ones that wins championships? Both games have better balance with more variety to heroes/champs, but Anet only have 9 to work it and yet they cant get their kitten together to have proper balance.
A copy paste of a comment I made earlier. Hope it will enlighten you.
Willfully ignorant?? Ah how nice of you, but let me ask you this if Lol dint have the ability to ban , out of those 70 toons, how many do you think we would have seen during the world?? Or better yet if Lol didn’t have a system where each team cant pick the same character, how many profession we would have seen at the world’s? ?? Uhm??
So this has nothing to do with classes/ balance; it just that Riot, due to their large pool of players and characters, can implement rules that Anet can’t. Had Riot not had those rules, their world’s would totally mirror ours.
I have no idea how you think it wasn’t great to watch. There were so many kills, there were actually some comebacks (including one absolutely incredible one that even if all other games were awful it would have made the finals worth watching), and there were close matches. I also loved seeing the search and rescue play in the second semi final(I really don’t want it nerfed now just because of how awesome it was to watch in the pro league even though I did before). I will admit that the first semi final could have been more exciting and close but the other 2 matches were awesome to watch. Maybe people say they don’t like it because they simply don’t like the concept of gw2 e-sports but as someone who does really like watching the e-sport events that are held, the finals were amazing and I quite literally can’t wait for season 2 which will use the same meta.
Question for you, what happened to that caused the come back?
The one on temple? Vermilion got a load of kills on abjured players and managed to decap all their points so with about 1 minute left it was 1 cap to 0 in favour of vermilion and they also got tranquility and held a 3 cap for the rest of the game to win 500-477.
In total it was about a 200 point comeback. This is exactly what I mean, you have no idea what exactly caused the come back.
What skills did they use during that key moment? How much was the damage? How much was the sustain? Was it good positioning? Was it bad positioning? What mistakes were made?
Dumbest post NA!! Like was it supposed to know it after one watch? ? Get you asinine logic out of here. Like who has that great of attention span to know who what went wrong.
And I also agree with the OP the finals were awesome.
“It was awesome! I don’t even know what happened! Literally, I had no idea what was going on, some people where hit by something, some died, some didn’t die.”
~ Fivedawgs.4267You see why so many people treat Guild Wars 2 Esport as a joke?
I can watch League of Legends or even Super Smash Brothers and can tell you what is skills and strategies are being used. Guild Wars 2 PvP is reduced to a spam-fest with 3-4 traits proc’ing every 10 seconds.
Who said I didn’t know what happen?? Abjured sent way too many people to tranquility and couldn’t keep their home point .. that’s what cost them the game. Wait, how long/often have you being playing smh bro and lol?? Anyone who has, at least, being playing gw2 for a year or two would have no problem knowing which skills were used etc… And also Lol esport camera doesn’t show which skills are being use, so I don’t know what you are getting that. And here are my suggestion to you: learn the game and learn the classes.
Learn the game, coming from a Ruby player? HAHAHAHA! Get on my level. You can get to legendary by grinding matches on a Dragonhunter, yet, you’re in Ruby?
Also, who went to tranq? How did they lose tranq? You don’t even know.
If you actually reread my post, you d know that I ONLY PLAY Warrior.
(edited by Fivedawgs.4267)
And lol is not broken?? They even have tier for that matters. Strng tier god tier ect… or are just being selectively biased against GW2??
No, its a matter of proportion, lol has now what over 70+ playable characters, there are bound to some marginally stronger than others and it is mostly due to a rock papper scissors situation where you counter what you expect to run into the most.
In contrast GW2 has 9 clases, not even double digits, and of those there are a constant 2 or 3 meta builds that obliterate every thing that comes their way.
So no, i not biased against GW2, but you are willfully ignorant it seems.
Willfully ignorant?? Ah how nice of you, but let me ask you this if Lol dint have the ability to ban , out of those 70 toons, how many do you think we would have seen during the world?? So this has nothing to do with classes/ balance; it just that Riot, due to their large pool of players and characters, can implement rules that Anet can’t. Had Riot not had those rules, their world’s would totally mirror ours.
On that point, it’s funny seeing people calling Anet lazy for removing amulets or preventing class stacking when Riot has been banning entire classes for quite some time.
^^this … and they say they aren’t biased.
I think esports is necessary. It tells us what builds needs a nerf or not.
Not in the slightest, because some classes are overpowered in PvP matches, while these strengths are meaningless in the actual game, while others are very weak in PvP, and so get buffs, but these buffs make them OP in the PvE content. Balancing for one is meaningless to achieving balance in the other.
Esport Leagues have shown the highest potential a class can have on a game. Random SoloQ Heroes have shown how easy a class’s effectiveness can be in lower tiers. Ranked Leagues, a mixed of competitive and casuals, show more or less where balances lie.
Every game has this trinity.Anet needs to completely seperate PvE from PvP. Nerfing Symbol dmg multiplier to 10% on Guard in PvP because it was OP in Pve? Are you serious Devs?
Lol at stuff being OP in pve, Anet shouldn’t separate pvp from pve or wvw for that matter. I’d learn to adapt guys!! separating both mode would make it harder I’d not impossible for pve er to transition ot pvp or wvw or vice versa. I had to have to relearn my entire class just because I wanted to farm gold. And finally, some skills have different effects in pve.
I have no idea how you think it wasn’t great to watch. E-Sports is a waste, there’s not so much skill involved in the matches, they had the same team composition and there wasn’t any Thief or Warriors, but tons of Necros and Revs with the easiest rotations. I mean sure, new people will be amazed, but when they’ll play I don’t think so, sooner or later people are gonna leave…
Says the amber… why would anyone take or thief or warriir if they don’t like them?? It doesn’t matter how u cut there are 9 profession and at least 4 always be left out.
It is downgrade because it dictates what I should play, not what I want to play, for a thing that %95 of the population does not care.
And that is Anet fault. I used to play GW1, MTG, LOL, and so on competitively, i would not say i was a pro, but i cared. What did those games have in common? there was a real strive to balance the game and they where not blatantly broken. GW2 has been broken beyond belief from day 1, i just dont care any more.
And lol is not broken?? They even have tier for that matters. Strng tier god tier ect… or are just being selectively biased against GW2??
Those “explanations” were excuses for using a gimmick to farm pvp. I’ll mention here that anet gave me 5 separate demerits on the same post for daring to disagree with Chaith.
This game is customized for the pro league players and they get special priveleges. That’s a sure way to create an inbalance and ultimately, to fail.
Pfffft, you think Toker liked giving up his thief to play Revenant? Or how Nos was forced to play bunker Mesmer?
I liked playing thief as well as my ele, but Revenant is just easier and significantly more forgiving.
Here is what is going on: Whoever is in charge of combat design, IS BAD.
There is nothing more to it.
Bad for what?? For allowing other professions to make it into the meta?? Is there something that I am not understanding?? So your barometer of a good meta is having thieves or warrior in the game?? The combat developer are doing a GREAT JOB. Why? Asking 99.9% of new players why drew them into the game? Their answer never changes : The combat system/mechs .

The finals were lame and boring. 10 players playing a game that has been customized to there personal preferences. Not only that, the pretentiousness of the trappings was just painful to watch.
GW2 would be a better game without the pro league, imo.
Pro league is what keep high end spvp player in the game. So it’s needed, without it spvp would die because there would be nothing for pro players to look after or that would keep them interested in the game.
The fact that the best two teams in the finals yesterday had exactly the same team composition illustrates the problems this game has perfectly. People are not really motivated to compose their own teambuild because soon after a game-update/patch its already clear which builds are going to be good and which builds not. The creation of a so-called meta is too simple and too fast.
This has everything to do with the lack of appropriate traits, utilities and weapon skills. For example: who needs a trait that triggers when taking falling damage? No one, so the other 2 traits are the 2 options that are left behind. Who uses necro’s axe, while all of its skills are mediocre? No one will, because scepter and dagger are better. These are just 2 examples of narrowing down the possibility to create different builds and playstyles that are or might be effective enough in pvp.
In my opinion, Anet needs to do everything to create a more diverse PvP environment so it won’t be boring to play OR watch. Think about some dramatic changes they could make, for example; why does the race of the character not have any influence on its abilities in pvp? Has it been a good step to make players only choose 3 out of the 6 traitlines, instead of the old system where you could choose traits from all different traitlines? We need diversity! I don’t want to know exactly what build someone is playing before I even fought against him. It should not be an objective to try to give every player or team exactly the same possibilities and try to balance everything out. The trials so far to obtain a good balance have failed. Leave that to shootergames.
You just don’t get it ?? Do you. Even if they HD diversity, most players would always end up using the same OP builds. It has nothing to do with balance or whatever you want to call it it’s human nature. The way th3 system is setup gives you a choice to create diverse builds; people don’t do it because there is always one build which is going to be stronger than others. It’s the same very where, on league of legebdary or Dota peoplease uses the same build over and over depending on were they are going.
Nope, it’s not the gane fault either. It’s your fault!!! Get it right. You are complaining about minor technalities. Don’t blame the game, the game doesn’t run itself.
I guess one man trash is another treasure, because I have been having lots of fun since HoT.
And FYI, this is a team game. So if you are not running any condi clear at least have someone in your team camp who can help.
Wait, sustaining yourself isn’t an exercise? ? Correct me if I am wrong but in order to sustain yourself you have to give up dps. So, why are you complaining if you are running a Yolo build ( which I am assuming) then whose fault is it??
Great blaming losses on being countered, just because someone counters you doesn’t mean you are garantee to lose that match up.; and a game such as GW2 counters means nigh nothing. E. I. DH pretty much counter melee warrior right?? However changing on of your utility skill with signet of might favors the warrior because you nullify DH blocks and stuff.
Whenever I win a fight, I don’t feel skilled anymore, using a metabattle build literally feels like cheating.
Mind blown, Granted that I don’t use meta build myself,I mean from what I have heard most pro players don’t, but still how does it feel like cheating?? Using this logic 100% of lol or Dota players ought to feel crestfallen. Futhermore, if anything using a meta build, at least in high elo, is a garanteed loss.
Some5hing not being fun to isn’t tatamount to bad balance. Learn to work with or around the balance because there will never be a perfect game. And what are those bad decisions you referred to above?? Because since the end of the season or HoT for that matter, everything insanely broken has been tone down.
I can agree with you about the camera not always being in the right place. It sometimes even switched away at an important moment and the pro league would make better watching if this was changed. However I don’t think showing all 3 cap points on the screen at the same time is the answer, the camera control just needs improving slightly and to stay on the most important fights.
Although I have recently found out I am in the minority on this, I think showing what skills are used on screen should be a mistake, it would just clutter up the screen too much in my opinion and when they go to a certain player’s PoV, you can see their skill bar anyway. Also, I know most people disagree with me but I quite simply couldn’t care less what skills people are using at one time, it is what happens as a result of those skills that matters to me (do they get a decap? A kill?) so I think the only thing that needed slight improvement on the stream was the camera control, but even that wasn’t bad.Absolutely awesome competition and I am so hyped for season 2 to start. I hope they continue with pro league for many more seasons as well.
I agree with everything you listed, complaining about petty things such as camera angle just seems silly to me.
@OP i will tell what having 3 camp on screen is a bad idea. First which fight are the viewers going to focus on?? Second: which ones are the caster going to comentate on?? The current system is fine.
Is there any point to pretending this is worthy of being a competitive game any more?.
So how is it a mess can you please elaborate?
PvP is a massive improvement from season 1.
In some ways sure but not by much.
I am guessing you either missed the word massive or don’t know what massive means. By I’ll be helpful:

The first sentence of warlord paragraph. And also it doesn’t matter how you cut it at OP, people will always be drawn towards the OPEST build. And warrior have like 5 viable builds atm.
ANET is apparently making balance decision based on pro league player opinions. The result is a game customized for a small group of players.
It also means Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer and to a lesser extent thieves are just out of luck. Revenants on the other hand can look for a halcyon time of being blissfully OP.
No, more ESL player feedback is definitely not desirable.
What?? Out of luck?? Dude by design, or like every other games, at least 4 classes are left out. So it’s not Anet fault, it all boils down to preference.
In line? you’re kidding right?
This is just sad. Sheeps ,!!! You can’t do anything on your own. These pro were kind enough to share their builds, and now you want to know how they use it??? OMG. Just sad. If anything this would totally make this gane UNCOMPETITIVE! !!
The truth is that either Anet doesn’t want to all the classes to be balanced or they simply don’t have the expertise on their staff to achieve this goal. The last balance patch was clear evidence of this fact as the chose to remove so many amulets with defensive stats from the game to achieve balance…all they really did was eliminate bunkers and place more emphasis on classes with both strong offensive & defensive capabilities, with the exception of Mesmer who get beat with a nerf stick. If you played a poorly balanced class before the patch…then life still sucks.
No matter what anet does, all classes will never be balanced. Get that idea out of your mind. We d always have a god, strong, great and good tier.
In any of the semi final games. We saw 1 mesmer and 1 ranger.
7 Revs
4 Eles
4 Necro
3 Engi
1 Mesmer
1 RangerLOL funny
And this is exactly what happens when ongoing profession and “role” development is mostly ignored.
Players have been begging from beta for the devs to seriously work on professions, weapons, skills, traits, roles, certain combat mechanics… but it’s not a priority.
GW2 could be the top fantasy game for classes and combat, but that will never happen. I’ve never seen such potential wasted.
Are you serious or kidding? ? No mater what anet does, we only see 5 classes used per game dude. So class poyential/traits/skills has nothing to do with what people would rather run. It all comes down to preference/ synergy.
And how do you know it’s not Anet priority?? Do you work them or have you been breached about something we aren’t supposed to know?? Finally, what do you think the patches are about?
People came back because the league is about to start?
Speak for yourself friend. I mean a few people include myself who can down 2 necro let alone one. And I always go mid/tf because of my build. So yeah, try to adjust a few things on your build.
I predict some challenges to duel coming your way. If you’re regularly downing two competent necros on your own, then you’ve either discovered something nobody else has or the necros aren’t being played competently.
If they’re both condi necros who group up and forget to boon corrupt and kite against your Berserker Stanced power warrior, then sure. But, beyond that, the size of their health pools combined with their damage output (including from range) shouldn’t allow you to down them both (and that ignores their debuffing outside of Berserker Stance).
Can as in 55% of the time, but any warrior can 1 vs 1 a necro if he plays right. I almost killed 2 of “HoT dog society guild” necros yesterday. Maybe I went over the line there, but my point still remain we have sustain RR paladin/ marauder/ mercenary is sustain. And the majority of folks who ask for sustain runs bezerker without RR.
