From my experience DH are easy to kill, i went from a 90% loss ratio against them to a 65% win ratio. As far as scrapper are concerned, you shouldn’t lose against one. Since the season started , i have yet to lose against a scrapper in 1 vs 1. Killing one is another story, but you should be able to drag the fight.
And i use power warrior btw…

If you like pvp gj I guess, you used the build everyone else is using better than they have i guess is what it means.
As far a build are concerned, i seriously believe, mad martini’s build or valnor build (Rifle/ bow) should be meta.
I disagree, because people would complain about warrior due to the buff in our defense line and banner or hambow or shout warrior would be Godly. And if I were you I’ll forgo this whole notion that pre-HoT pvp is better than what we have now. HOT SPECS have been tremendously NERFED. I repeat HOT SPECS HAVE BEEN TREMENDOUSLY NERFED. Your argument no longer hold ground.
Edit : the OP is guardian who just happened to have been buffed (core line) this season, how ironic.
To further elaborate on my point : Let’s look at core guardian which are hard to kill even with elite specs. Lots of class ( with elite specs) are having trouble killing them. How will this affect the game once elite specs are removed??
So this idea of pre-HOT pvp being better than what we have now is a myth.

They had also to add MORE Elite Specializzations, as they said. And that, yes, would improve the build diversity.
Anyway actually there’s a lot of build diversity. I belive that only the Necromancer is forced to play condition and the guardian direct damage, all the other classes have meta or good builds for both the damage sources, sometimes mixed. And some have also other builds than dps. For example the guardian have the dps and the bunker, the mesmer have the direct and the condi, sometimes also the supporter with wells. Thief have different good builds to use like the old decapper and the new total dodge builds 8really strong to hold a point, survive for a incredible long time and inflict really good damage).
If you look only metabattle there’s few to none build diversity, if you look at what the players play there’s a lot of build diversity.
i play Necromancer and I can say that there’s different builds that really work (still counting the bottom tier of the necro in this meta). I played with the “meta” symbol build, with a Corruption build (that frequently is better to help the team, with only little lesser boon corruption and damage) and even the minion master build. more or less they have the same focus: boon corruption and +1 player (with the Mm that have better damage with lesser boon corruption, but also spam poison with minion death).
Anyway, the F2P Experience have not to be the best experience of they’re life.
They’re F2P and they Have to Know that if they Buy the game they obtain something Better than what they actually have!Answer me: If you will be able to play at the exact same level of a player that buyed the game, how many reasons will you have to buy the game?
If you’re a F2P you can TRY the game and BUY it if you like.
If you don’t buy it, you will always play a TRIAL VERSION of the game.
This pretty much … what jourdeline doesn’t get is that WoW has the best monetary system when it comes to MMO. Anet is sacrificing a lot since they are b2p not a monthly subscription based game. MOBA are slowly dying, and it 3asy to gauge by looking at the tactics Lol is using. They went from skins to chest to comma or whatever they are using these days. Most F2P players on MOBA never spend more than 40 or 30 bucks on the game.
And how would they make their money?? I mean Lol is coming up with thousand of rip-off under the umbrella of new ideas to make money. That should tell you the market is dying!!
Since we already have WvW, I’d rather the Devs spend time and resources on something else.

For Free to Play, spvp only account would help raise the population that don’t want to get 40 gig of data that many people in the world pay with “cellphone internet dataplan”.

Well, we have a leaderboard in legendary. I am assuming those folks are the best players. And also there is no title this season ( I might be wrong though). And the pup system is a lot better than a leaderboard imo for know reasons.
I like the idea of the legendary leaderboard but it is still just like the divisions themselves- nothing to do with skill. I am number 5 on the leaderboard (tied for 1st but 5th person down) and I am not even close to being good enough to win the world championship, which is what being the 5th best would imply. It all comes down to who can play the most- the best players are lower down in legendary division than me because I play more than them, not because I am better than them. That is the problem.
I think the pip system should stay as the way for casual players to get rewarded and feel a sense of progression in pvp but there should also be a truly skill based leaderboard that is reset at the end of every season with the top players getting exclusive rewards and titles that there is no other way to obtain.
Divisions really do not have to be skill based for competitive players to have motivation to play, but there does have to be SOME way for the very best to get things that nobody else can get and a leaderboard (not based on pips) is a great way to do that in my opinion.
True but we all know how people are. Leader-board doesnt correlate to skill either, just like the pip system it depends on how often you play. So a high skill player who doesn’t play that much is better-off in this pip system. Just imagine how many people would think they are better than this pro because he is 1000 on the leader-board.
The main problem is boon duration stat. Zerker stance for example needs to either clear resistance when the buff ends, or it’s CD needs to be upped to like 80s, or it needs to be reverted to what it was.
You don’t know what you are saying. Resistance is very balanced… this is a L2P issue.
As a main warrior, I d welcome reverting beserker stance to its original form (I. E couldn’t be corrupted).
I would pick whichever system is competitive. Which sure as kitten ain’t today’s.
Competitive systems by their very nature mean the majority “loses out”. But that’s why u have unranked. What’s the point of ranked if any pleb can achieve the same thing by spamming games or getting carried by a group while matchedriving vs randoms?
Because it is Casual Wars 2. The only remotely competitive thing in this game is pro leagues.
Don’t get me wrong, i am not defending current system – i found it stupid since i started to play this game (which was years ago) but it would be delusional to expect devs to create actual skill based leagues w/o some kind of “help”, so your average Joe can also succeed and collect his wings.

Melandru is better solo sure due to more condi conversion. But it is all about team play at this point. Taking condi from teammates is better I think.
The stats and the boon duration is better for berzerker. Precision is not much helpful with zerker amulet or demolisher.

Funny how crysis suddenly drop out of the best warrior convo. But Tarcis is def the best warrior atm no question asked! However, he is only as good as the class allow him. A pro mesmer would kitten on him though.

Second, Power Warriors have more mobility, plenty of damage pressure, plenty of condi clears, Reflct on block, Stability, Healing over time, and two Invulnerabilities to direct damage, a block on a relatively short cool down, and Plenty of CC to level the playing field on a DH in a 1v1. On point, it’s a different story, Out sustianing a DH on point is not going to happen, even if they have lower skill level than you. unless their entire team is crap, you will fight them, until they either kill you (because you have to try and contest the point) or their team shows up.
That’s my point. Yes DH is very unbalanced in sPVP. We all kow that already, and we did not need you to put on the captain obvious cap in this case.
To answer people who actually asked useful questions…..
The reason DH seem more powerful now is because during the off season, people are learning team comps and class builds. Maybe a pvp team is practicing or whatever. what you are seeing now, is team comps that incorporate the DH far better than unranked solo queues. Not only that you may have noticed Metabattle has changed recently. What was working for you just fine in Unranked, may not work as well in ranked now simply because you are now fighting people who care about getting ranks.

Warriors CAN out sustian a guardian, but it takes o long to do that on point, that the guardian’s team will show up and turn the fight in the guardian’s favor.

how can you tell this is broken? simply look at their traitlines. every single investment is defensive and yet they still can output damage on-par with thieves, who have to invest heavily into damage modifiers. thanks to this, Dragonhunters now have almost zero windows of vulnerability.
this is just how stupid the current symbol build is:
Shield of Wrath ? Aegis ? Aegis ? Shield of Courage ? Purification (heals them back to full lmao) ? Aegis ? Smite Condition ? Wings of Resolve ? Shield of Absorption ? Aegis ? Shield of Resolve ? Aegis ? Renewed Focus ? Shield of Courage ? Shield of Wrath ? Purification (another full heal) ? etc.
and this is all why outputting severe damage, particularly AoE and CC, and maintaining a good amount of stability to boot. they have so many sources of sustain that you can rotate through them incredibly easily without ever not having something to fall back on. the concept of skillful CD management goes out the window.

A good bunker guardian would have killed 100 time over during S3. And i said AS A BAIT, so whist your focusing him his teammates are focusing u.

They gained new damage with sword and scepter on their symbols and mace 3 was buffed. Otherwise most things were unchanged in the damage department for them traps remain the same. The virtues were buffed the spear now applies cripple for 1.5 secs be mindful of that and virtues of resolve baseline removes 2 condis and when traited an extra 3 so that’s a 5 condi cleanse on a 26 sec cd so condi warriors gl and shield of courage now gives them stab at the start rather then the end so time cc better and If they trait for meditations they can have a full condi clr on a 36 sec cd.
Pretty much this patch gave guardians much needed sustain in condi clearing and more on point damage. Some very dangerous combos now are being pulled with spear into possibly 2-3 traps then into a sword/focus combo. Or bow 5 into traps, weapon swap to something like sword/scepter or mace and lay on the symbol damage. My personal fav so far in team fights is bow 5 with 2-3 traps depending on what I’m facing and hammer 5 for well near total lockdown on called targets.
Don’t go in with the mind set that they can just be steamrolled anymore be it through condi or power, another thing to note a great deal of them are most likely running that trait that removes condis when they block with aegis 1 sec icd and when they have none they take 10% less damage.
You don’t know what you are saying, you can’t out sustain them with their current build. Heck, you d be lucky to kill one since most are going bunker in high elo as a bait. I believe K pop gave the best tip interrupt ot headbutt them when the leap..
Is it actually “grindy”?? It seems more like it’s setup to stop progress completely for anyone who’s not tanking their MMR.
If you’re SoloQ and don’t cheat by deliberately throwing games, you won’t progress period.
Stuck in T2 ruby since day 2 so august 11… working on a new build though.
Not going to lie matchmaking is pretty grindy at the moment.
But I would play with the most terrible matchmaking if they could somehow implement no class stacking in the ranked matchup.
I would deal with perma downstate all day knowing that there is no stacking.If you implement such a rule for your highest level of play and do not carry it down to your “casual/lower levels” how do you expect players to enjoy the game the same way?

I use gs mace shield these days, but I have arc divided a few times without pressing F1.

While in berzerker mode, say I use the f1 skill then swap weapons with sigil procs.
Now I am at 10 adrenaline again and the game seems to automatically use my f1 again. At first I thought I was button mashing, so I tried using a different skill after swapping, but it continued to happen.
I am not sure how to describe this bug, other then double burst skill activation. It is like it thinks f1 is in a que to activate and fires it once I reach 10 adrenaline again.

S3 had the best balance or MM if you ask me.
As solo all my matches are premade (3-4ppl) vs solo pug party. Feeling like a free pip to farm.

As a soloQ I have faced almost entirely 5-man premades that are quite blatant (all from same guild, with a few that all have very similar names, have literally had one match where the characters were named “Guy1, Guy2, Gal1, Gal2, Charr1”
ANET only promised that a FIVE man premade will never face a FULL 5 solo q team. .
Read it carefully. That means if you are solo in a group with a duo premade and 3 solo players you can be matched with a FIVE man premade. And if the enemy team is a FOUR man premade it can be matched against a full SOLO q team.And what I’m saying is that AS A FULL SOLO QUEUE TEAM as in all 5 of us queued separately, we are facing 5-man premades.
How did I not make that clear?

Started in Emerald and the first 5-6 games were win-lose-win-loae. Then I tweaked my build a bit and won 9 in a row. The only games that were blow ours were when there was an afk. The others have been way better than the past 2 seasons. Out of my 15 or so games 2 where right down to the wire. 501 -499. 500 – 496.
Don’t know why I’m having good matches when apparently everyone else is having horrible ones?
This season is way better than the first 3. I think that’s mostly cause the balance is better. Not good, but way, way, way better than before.

It is season one all over again. Im out. Was giving gw2 pvp a last shot the last few days, but matchmaking was absolutely horrible.
Getting matched with players that actually WAIT FOR BEAST SPAWN on forest map, double capping home node… nah… Im too good for that kitten. Im done.
Someone else can carry those, my time has gotten too valuable for this kitten.

It happened to me quite a few but I always though it was due to either leeching or vampire rune or one of their trait. I should def look into it though, but I remeber someone telling me that they had a trait which allowed them to go through EP.
Idk but have you consider defiance stance? Although I won’t advise it against a skilled DH but it might do some wonder against low skilled player. So you engage the dh normally and wait for your second endure pain to trigger and once you have about 10% Hp left. Active defiant stance to refill all of your hp, work great with marauder since you get all of your 24k hp back and get to literally restart the fight. If time right your first EP should be at 25 cd . Hence prolonging the fight.
Or you can use the typical warrior build and watch their icons, most DHS have 3 blue icons. So, the strategy is to save your utility everytime you see a fourth one or aegis and pressure them when they have 3 or less blue icon and the aegis icon is pretty easy to recognize and can easily get rid of as well.

While the bigger changes we’ll be making to leagues won’t be ready in time for Season 4, we’d like to let you know about a change that will be in effect for this upcoming season.
With the start of Season 4, we’ll be returning to Season 1’s style of matchmaking which focuses on creating the most balanced teams from the players queueing within your pip range. This change may widen the skill range of players in each division, but we feel that increased match quality is worth the trade-off of reduced prestige for this season. During Season 2 and 3 we added two league features that greatly impacted your ability to climb: start-of-season division placement based on previous season performance and win/lose streak pips, and both of these features will remain enabled for Season 4.
We’re not at a point where we’re able to discuss the changes we’ll be making to PvP Leagues for future seasons, but making rewards more accessible for casual players and making divisions prestigious and a more accurate indicator of skill are among our highest priorities.

Lol, thats nothing, any team which can focus will take you down in second. It’s easy to spot both EP and rock guard.
He has most of the defensive traits available to a warrior, two of the most defensive weapons (plus a high mobility weapon), and all three of his utilities are defensive in one way or another.
Is it just the lack of toughness or vitality in his amulet choice that makes you say he has “no defense”?
Yup, it’s the lack of toughness, you know just like Noone use zerker in pvp even though it as defensive ( trait wise) as marauder or demolished.
@k pop exactly that’s why you have a watch their icons landing one cc at the right time with enough pressure , which mace shield/ gs provides, is a garanteed kill. They might to leap of faith back and forth but you are a pretty good chance of winning if you just focus on their icon/ defensive skills
Signet of might is a gimmick, a good DH shouldn’t lose against a SM warrior unless you manage to pressure him enough… can always be wrong though still I ran SM during S2.
Honestly, I don’t remember playing it before in PvP (maybe a rifle thing?). However, seeing all the blocks being around (DH, mesmers, revenants, warriors), I’ve given it a chance since a few weeks now, and have been quite happy with the results. I’ve even tried Arms / Defense / Discipline (but don’t do it – it sucks).
The passive helps the damage output, and the active can be a nasty surprise to opponents. It’s actually often lethal when you proc it when the opponent’s HP is below 50%, because you can also benefit from Heightened Focus.
DH are tough to deal with though – way too much active defense. The Signet of Might makes fights a bit easier, but does not offer a free win.
Nope used it on my melee warrior, it only worked with str def zerker + paladin amulet. Any alternative will either suffer from a lack of dmg or sustain … Used it up until diamond any time i was up against a team of 3+ DH, but the zerk def disc + bull charge is far superior since you can always disengage. Signet of might has way too much visual noise for it to work in high elo unless you are running a rifle build.
DH are def tough, but i was able to beat wakkey or some PZ member on their DH by paying attention to their icons. When timed right, once CC/ followed by a cc chain is all it take to take down a DH. So, all u need is that one opportunity.

But… it’s loaded with defense. It has the defense line, double EP, reflect on shield, mace, and shattering blow, Berserker Stance, CI and BR for condis, Dead or Alive and Eternal Champion, three stun breaks (one auto-procced).
Lol, thats nothing, any team which can focus will take you down in second. It’s easy to spot both EP and rock guard.
