Well. Maybe you’re not the sPvP type?? There is a reason why I spent most of my time on spvp. I literally have an orgasm everytime I killed someone or win a game.
The matchmaking in unranked is so bad right now, last night in one of my matches one of the people assigned to my side disconnected during the 90 seconds before the match started and never came back, and in spite of a 4v5 my team won (though it was a very close match). The other team was full of bad players, whereas I got to Legendaryx2 in season 1 (and while not ESL level am clearly not “new” or “bad”), and at least one person on my team is a stronger player than I am (I’ve grouped with him many times). I appreciate that we won, and I enjoyed the challenge, but that match-up was in no way shape or form “fair” or even close to fair if we were able to win without a player (even if he likely was our worst player).
That arrogance… What makes you think the other camp was bad (Skill wise obviously )?? Have you considered that they might have been trying new builds??? After the matchmaking tweaks, my first 10 games were a bit easy so I was able to win them all, but after those I was pretty much back to my spot; as I was able to fight against PZ and ez pz.
I also got in a match with 4 mesmers + me (ele) … that was before new queuing patch. My guess is that they are trying to make the most battles with a single player per class, but since there would be always a remaining group, a match is punished (takes the bullet for the team) with the class in excess. … this is just a theory of mine tho.
We all had our share of those . Which is ok, however solely blaming Anet for it is wrong since most people can switch toon in game. Tbh, it less of an issue in high elo. To follow up on that,I believe the matchmaking tweaks kind of fix it a little bit; as I am seeing less of them. My games thus far have pretty much being diverse .

From talks with friends, matches, etc. This season is probably going to be tempest, druid, herald, scrapper, reaper.
All other classes should hope for the best when it comes to innovative team comps. But beyond that start considering a class to play for the upcoming league.

Well, the op is probably a noob or nee to the gane 0r someone who just got back to the gane. I mean warrior and 8 was able to beat team pz and ez pz today with my warrior won 15 out of 20 games today. So, I belive the Op is just venting.
Started that way, then 10 games (wins) down the line I have started getting pz and ez pz players.

We got this instead:

We’ll also be taking another pass at improving the berserker elite specialization, focusing on increasing its usability in various game modes and promoting more active skill use in trait design. Lastly, we’ll improve the warrior’s ability to sustain themselves in combat.
Delete them from Utility skills.
And instead add them as new Burst skills.
Example:

F4 Balanced Stance
F5 Berseker Stance=====

Why wouldn’t you want to see this change if all we lack is team synergy? Changing warrior stances thus would free up three utilities slots. That makes room for other utilities which might actually synergize with your team.
And about the other part, asking me whether I fought Wilsonstorm as an indication for warrior balance is a bit amusing. Almost as amusing as you taking a duel against him as an indication.
And anyways, all I know about Wilsonstorm is that he has a stream. I take it you consider him one of the top warriors out there.
Then the question should be whether he ( or any top warrior ) fought other top players and how that ended.

So there’s a learn to play issue with the pro ESL players? I mean, they only implemented a new rule where there’s no class stacking, maybe it’s because they suck.
Maybe that too. Just to clarify l2p doesn’t solely include winning 1 vs 1 and learning the other class tricks. Rotating the maps. Knowing who you can an can’t take also constitute L2p. But I am going to back down because I don’t know what the mesmers were running.

Given that Anet just released/announced a new matchmaking system, We will see if unrank will stay as bad as it is now.

I got into a match against two members of PZ. Got stomped. Does me getting matched with them mean I’m almost as good as them? Because that’d be awesome. xD

It would be nice if other maps were added to the rotation; however, most people refuse to play them and they demand that they be removed from the ranked scene.
E.g.:
-Court Yard
-Sky Hammer
-Strong Hold
-Spirit Watch
-Raid on the CapricornEven if they introduced more conquest style maps, you will end up with the same teams complaining that it shouldn’t be in ranked and anet will bow to their demands.
Deathmatch isn’t even an option to queue for which tells me that have abandoned that game mode.
Until they introduce Stronghold into Tournament play there is no point in pushing out more maps of that game mode since it will end up like Deathmatch.
It’s a real shame too.. so many interesting maps that can be done with any of the game modes….
Team Death Match:
-Hall of Heroes (gw1)
-Ascalon Arena (gw1)
-Crown Pavilion (gw2)
-Some Orrian Style map
-Bandits Rest (GW2 Raid) lot of neat places to snipe and hide from sniping, that part of the raid is a nice box shape to begin with. Just need to work out a red and blue spawn section.Conquest:

One team is done in a style of a char camp, the other team done in a style of the Orrians. Charrs objective is to break their way into viziers tower to kill the Vizier. The Orrians objective is to break into the charr camp and kill the charr commander.just some ideas ._.
would love for 1v1 best of 5 fights to be added as a game mode. Rather small arena to fight in, add a 5 minute timer per fight. First to win 3 fights, wins.

You are overreacting most competitive games have no more than 3 maps: Lol Dota and stuff. So this idea of yours will completely hindered GW2 competitiveness .

LOL you can not say this, i saw you in a match and i was impressed since you timed your defiant stance really nice but you lost a 1 vs 1 to my teams necro and DH. I was playing warrior and it was a close fight between us but a thief from my team came in and downed you instantly but you can not honestly say this.
If it was this week end then it was my ping. I usually play with 140 ping on weekends there is not much I can do. But on weekday it’s a different story. So I stand by my words.
I stream unranked, and it isn’t the end of the world once your volatility and matchmaking settles.
It’s really just halting any sense of progression for the average player, and isn’t that what we play MMOs for? I don’t see why the in game seasons aren’t back to back. Has any MMO done this before? Very strange indeed.

Well. That’s because it a bad idea, I wouldn’t want them to separate pvp from pve. I mean in pve all you have to do is learn the boss mechs. Like how hard is it?
And about the eles being strong in PVE or PVP,that has nothing to do with balance. They might be strong but they are as strong as necro, engi,revs and maybe thieves so they are pretty much balanced in their tier. Seeing that balance equates to having everyone on equal standing.

There should be a competitive alternative. Like a soloqueue ladder that does not use the league system but displays in leader board. If something like that is not possible then they atleast should reduce this month to like 4 weeks. You really think the month will make them balance the game better than if they watched closely for 2 weeks and actually reacted with small balance changes? Inb4 no balance patch at all. If you are pro, 2 weeks are enough to adept. If anything it would be more fun to watch a meta that is not completely set in stone yet with a few surprises.
If you think a month time will increase meta quality then I would just like you to remember last seasons meta and prove you wrong.
First you are ok with the break being 4 weeks long = 28 days but you can’t stand a 31 day break?
And also unranked can be competitve given that you have a good winrate.

Right after patch, when the balance is suppose to be tested, and you can’t test balance in Unranked, cause the amount of bad players in unranked is extremely high, even with good winrate. How many other actual Esports games do you see disable ranked queues for a whole freaking month??

Actually that is problem of gw2. GW2 seem having huge balance issue everytime they implements something new patch due to so many classes and so many build diversity.
BnS is quite simple as compared to gw2, but idk, i found that game no depth as compared to gw2, but much more balanced than gw2. Becuz it is hard for ncsoft dev to balance as long as their game remains simple.
If you were dev what would you select?
1. Implement diversity, and have balance issue everytime you implement something new, resulting in people quit the game. But generally, game with diversity is more fun than simple game when balance is perfect.2. Make game simple, less build dependant game like BnS or LoL.

No they didnt hype it up as “free to play”, they very specifically choose the phrasing “play for free” for this exact purpose, to stress that it is still a buy to play game, and you CAN play for free to try it out
And not only that, but the official post from anet where they announced play for free also specifically says that the reason they are doing this is to let new players try the game so that if they like it enough they will BUY HEART OF THORNS. It says right in the official announcement that they intend players to buy the full game if they plan to stick around

Ranged attacks -> Reflects
Power build. -> Lots of healing, toughness. Will outlast you.

I still run a burn Engi when I’m bored. Gets wrecked easily by condi removal, but it seems some people take little to no condi removal, or blow their condi clear just for that 2 burns and some bleeds, and then of course proceed to tell me how condi is op.
And the crazy thing is, I could have much higher survival if I just took the meta Scrapper build, but whatever.
A fair percentage of players take no condi removal, stun breaks or stability and complain about condi’s, “constant cc” and always stunned. I’ve always thought that condi removal, stability and a stun break are the 3 things a build must have. After that you get creative.

What would have been unacceptable is to start the league without giving time to those classes (buffed or nerfed) to adjust to the meta.

but something that is written on a paper, not always is the same in reality.Like I said before, people were too busy with bunkers (Durability rune + w/e).
Every match there were at least ~3 bunkers per team(druids,eles,mesmers)
Now that pretty much every bunker is dead, it is possible to see how ’’effective’’ DH really are.DH is like a virus, which you dont seem to notice it at first, until it starts moving up the stages,

Remove berserker marauder valkyrie viper amulets
DH and revs might be ballanced in pve were they Maybe need sustain stats. But with theese dps stats it gets to much in sPVP , wvwLike thiefs gaining more dps so they can spec sustain. Problem is they just go more dps and hit to much like DH.
The reward on taking more sustain on classes like warrior isent viable and war dps also to much on berserker amulet. Like kill shot. To stupid

The op is dying to DH because they either counter his class or he keeps on running into their traps alone. I would respectfully disagree. The necro buff was needed because they always get targeted first, at least in high elo. The survability of a necro on the battle field is less than 30 sec (depending on the necros and his opponent skills).

My bone of contention is that there used to be: bunker and burst (that branches more). Now, there is just burst. There are literally necros who charge you and you are dead in 5-6 seconds. And you can’t do anything about it, because they lock you in total fear. Thieves just have to press 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 and occasionally teleport away and stealth. Revenants just come to you, troll you around, and when you get them to 1% they press their magic button which fully heals them and on top of it they give you chill and run away (trolling level 9000).
Yeah, this is what I don’t like. And it DOES seem that there are just mesmers necros and thieves…. I used to think the same but no, dragonhunters don’t have too much of everything, they are severly lacking in condi clear and sustain, all they give is might and fury with rune of the dragon hunter, they have almost no answer to cc and are weak to conditions. why do you think reapers have such an easy time with DH.
The only high end damage dealers are true, shot and procession of blades. everything else doesn’t really stand out compared to other classes unless u build up might first. nerfing true shot as said above would simply be too much. DH is fine as it is now. Also True shot is such a telegraphed attack that u really stand an fair chance of dodging it.
dragonhunter is a spec that just like berserker sacrifices sustain for pure burst. if that’s the case it should capable of dealind good dps. they already nerfed traps and their cc.

This is such a dumb thread, its a shame people would rather argue semantics than discuss the actual issues surrounding sPvP and its very much unarguable pricing model.
Almost everyone calling for improved accessibility to elite specs own HoT, but want to see GW2 sPvP compete with bigger, more profitable competitive multiplayer games.
Unfortunately people seem to be focusing on comparing sPvP to WoW.

You are the one who is dancing around the bush HOT is GW2. And GW2 is an MMO not a MOBA due to PVE. Lastly,let me remind you that gw2 is spvp. Wvw and pve together.
1. Anet made core part open to f2p users and HoT for p2w users exclusively. This will never make new players valuable but become a feed of p2w users. Thus it makes f2p meaningless cuz under this logic anet cannot welcome their new users.
Really? Pay to win? You should go and check the difinition of the words, before you throw them around in forums. F2p is nothing more then a glorified trial, as it should be. The game is still very much PAY TO PLAY and not PAY TO WIN. It was said thousand times already – an expansion is NOT pay to win. Also you dont actually expect users who haven’t paid anything to have the same benefits as paying users, do you? If anything f2p did imho is bought more people into the game, because now people have the option to actually test the game, before they decide whether to purchase it or not. You didnt get that before, and it was in a way a leap of faith.
2. They mostly balance their game with their guild chat with their restricted esl players or reedit (from my guess). And i see many opinions going there is biased. Resulting in game unbalanced, therefore many thief, warrior players quit the game.
Did you slept over the last patch or something? Thiefs got nothing, but buffs in the last patch, and I dont think anyone can complain about them being not viable right now. If anyone still complain about thiefs, its marely a l2p issue.
3. Too many changes, in last 2 years they kittened shoutbow, dd ele builds as well as lots of new builds came out. This changes made many common user result in exhausted in this game, cuz they don’t wannna spend new more time to be familiar with new build.
If a game doesnt change for 2 years, then you know the devs are doing something wrong. Of course new builds will come into play, and old ones will drop off. Its up for the players to adapt around those changes. Those who do not want to, or are incapable of doing so gets left behind. Simple as that. It’s an mmo game – for every 1 player who quits, 5 new players are introduced into the game. And the game is very, very far from dead. Quite honestly I am getting a little tired of reading all of you doomsayers around the forums.
4. Pro league with tier system. this is honestly just fail. This will never work. I saw many twitch streamer quit gw2 for this reason a lot, and what they say is mostly like “idk, i just don’t play gw2 becuz of anet starting esports or whatevrr, i don’t want to esports…” this kinda thing.
As with pretty much everything else, this is purely subjective. While a do agree season 1 of the leagues was very bad executed with all of the exploiters, bad matchmaking and the terrible bunker meta.. I don’t believe the idea as a whole is flawed. It has potential and time will tell if the changes they bring with season 2 will be successful or not.

1. Yup. You have to have hot to equally fight. With core you cannot win. It becomes obvious when you 1vs1.
2. did you miss i put during season 1, which is before recent buff?

The game is HoT+Core now, you cannot get Core alone any more. There is only the big circle and those who have yet to buy or upgrade.
