It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill"
LOL
Ok im not trying to be the dark horse in this conversation, BUT I do think exotic gear level was TO easy to obtain. I think they should continue to add ascended items but then Stop and ensure that this is the highest gear tier forever (a LONG time). This certainly gives those that want more to do some content and doesnt affect those who dont <— This is because anyone with exotics can easily make it to lvl 10 of the fractals.
there is a problem to the whole ascened project
looking on gw2db some ascended have 40\50% more stats then an exotics, and they are devided on two tiers (normal and infused) and all this without infusion.
This make too mauch unbalance on WvW or simply for dungeon…
the gap between a lvl 80 rare, and a level 80 exotic, is really low and you dont really notice this difference… only the player know this.
But the gap between ascended and exotic is ridicolous and this, create a stats barrier between casuals\normal players , and heavy grinders.
The problems for me is that a hate to be forced to do something to be effective, when its supposed to have fun.
I have to say that gw2 have some boring issue, unbalance, bugs, lack of content… etc etc etc…
but its a 3 month old game, i cant pretend too much… it need only time to grow and fix.
My problem with GW2 is called Ascended tier. (or stats grind).
But i have to say that i prefer to skip the Christmas event and have the GW2 they promise us. Maybe pause the new contents, no… but a little stop on events maybe yes.
Problem is, the reason why we even express our feelings and concerns in the forums is because we really care for this game. 3 months of awesomeness and we want to keep it awesome.
That’s really the only main reason. If we didnt care we wouldnt be involved in the Forum here.
I feel exactly like you too. Its painfull to see how much damage this patch has do to this game.
But if have to say that im loosing patience and hope day by day.
Because it’s not based on forum QQ, it’s based on what the players are doing in game.
Forum posters are the minority not the majority.
I think im done with you, you have 0 arguments so you only can reply with this.
I prefer to have a smart discussion with someone that can prove something and ignore this.
Oh and… you are a part of the minority too… you are a minority, in the minority
I see a lot of uninformed people saying Anet was probably doing this because of the population drop….population drop, that explains why from someone who played since lauch saw nothing but a dramatic increase in population since then.
Also the server population is determined from who is actually logged in playing and after the patch instead of more than 2/3rds of the servers that were full status have dropped to high which tells me a lot of people quit playing. Also this is during prime time.
On sites like xfire, GW2 had like 60% of market play time. At worst it was around 17% with the new patch it’s around 23%.
invi…cof…tational…
Its ok if you want analise numbers… but consider all the variables before!
It’s just pure play time.
Yeah there is allot going on there mainly WoW expansions. But it a pretty big drop in total play time.
So you think that the ascendet move is done by a drop of the players? i dont think so…
If you take this forum as feedback…a lot of player was pissed about:
Lack of content (not gear progression)
Lack of skins (mainly on the cash shop)
Lack of PVP modes (GVG mainly)
Lack of class balance, or strange class nerf
Lack of Pve immersion (worlds bosses are not rewarding, and not a real challenge)
Unbalanced dungeons
Bugs that persist since beta…
and i think im missing something on this list…
But the fact is, that if youy take your time to read to forum, you can see all this things repeated.
Now tell me… how many ppl have asked stats progression on the forum on how many thread?.
I see a lot of uninformed people saying Anet was probably doing this because of the population drop….population drop, that explains why from someone who played since lauch saw nothing but a dramatic increase in population since then.

Logic is a little flawed here, people leaving the game before the ascended gear were a part of one of the following groups:
A. Never really paid attention to what the game was supposed to be about, or the philosophy behind it, just mainly bought into the new thing, then realized later it wasn’t their thing. These people would have left anyway and most aren’t coming back for this treadmill because other games do it better.
B. Avid fans of the genre, and knew what they were buying in to. Bought the game for the no treadmill, no grind manifesto. However, due to bugs, lack of S/T PVP features, or what they perceived as class/build imbalances left the game. This group is HUGE compared to group A. Simply having a Patch Test Server from the start, and listening to the community when they nerf the wrong things, as well as fixing bugs before injecting content/nerfing would have kept many from this group around.
Hit and destroyed the nail.
This game is a failure, of course the events are
That’s completely over-the-top. This game is great. The one-time event just had too many issues to ignore.
This game is not a failure, but some content of the last patch is a really wrong step
Wow People with 600 hours played after paying 60 bucks.
What joke.
You got your monies worth.
Now you want to unpay for it for what they gave you. If you don’t like stop playing and stop spending money. But if you played for 600 hours, They gave you enough.
Personal opinion.
1) You know What I would do if I was a dev company. I would never tell anyone any thing about future plans EVER!!!!!
2) If the second something small changed a bunch of people can roll around kicking a scream after playing 600 hours to get their money back. It’s too risky.
3) This is why game companies lock everything in the vault and don’t tell people what they are working on.
4) The ONLY thing you do is hurt the industry as a whole. It a HUGE risk for companies to build and try new things cause some times they don’t work and they still need to make a profit.
5) GW2 tried to be more then a WoW clone, For that at least they deserve 60 bucks.
lol ok lets take point to point
1) NO advertise, no customers… false advertise, no customers(or worse problems too)… Now if you plan to do somethig that require customers, remember this simple lesson
2) I little change can make angry a little number of people but is a calcultated risk…
a core change, can litteraly divide you customers community, in any case, you split your gain. For the refund, well, law talk, and thats all i expressed myself too much in these days about.
3)its not always true
4)we can debate this… im not accusing anyone in this moment, but its true the opposite.
If you advertise something, and you sell something else, you hurt you customer, and ok, then its the customer thats has right to hurt the company.
5) Gw2 not supposed that Gw2 has to be better then a wow clone… Its was advertised in the net like the “wow killer”, and before this patch i was extremely convinced with this idea.
(edited by Ganzo.5079)
When you have a forum full of angry and upset and frustration…. its not a minority anymore.
Until you have figures showing how many people actually post here, versus those that don’t, you have no business really, saying that it is not a minority
True. However, same goes the other way. We also don’t know if it really is a minority.
but, if we take the forum as feedback, we cant say that the majority of player asked for a new stats tier. and without an in game survey, the forum is the only feedback they can use…i guess.
I mean ascension gear is essentially legendary armor, and its not even blocking you from content.
.So for you its perfectly fine place a huge boost on item that can be aquired only with a massive farm…
on WvW and heavy grinder can have a lot more power then a WvW only player.. this is just wrong.13% higher stats over exotics=/=huge boost. Considering the fact that most people will never see them, I dont expect for it to have a huge effect on WvW.
Open gw2db and search the ascended quality ring, and cofront it with a exotics ring.
Then tell me if its the 13%, and… let me say that even the 13% is a really huge boost!
Silence is the confirmation of worries.
So i guess, its only the beginning.
I really don’t believe people are getting refunds. There is no Proof there is anything past Ascended so you can’t prove that there is even a gear treadmill yet and balancing no game is balacned. So you could get your money back for every game ever made for that.
They got got a refund in 6 hours?? That pretty fast processing if it said a few days from when he asked got one maybe
Sry but, its all about PR.
Pr prelease state something.
Pr after release and pre 11\15 patch say the opposite thing, even if covered with veiled or doublesided words.
Whitout confirmations, ppl have all the rights to be worried about their “investment”
The root cause behind this dramatic shift is financial. They weren’t earning enough money. I have always been willing to pay a monthly sub for this game (before now). WHat if some of us could pay a monthly sub and be given the option of buying this gear or even some of the critical components via gems?
ALternatively, if money is the issue, allow us to buy this stuff via gems. It’s a win win….win (The Office) Those who love the grinds can grind and get rewards. Those who hate grinds can do what they love. ANet makes more money.
lol the actual sistem is indirectly aiming on a p2w model. and in any case…
P2W games, are a plague on the gaming panorama.
You’re right. The purpose of a video game developer is the same as any other business; to make money. And, sadly, when the demographic of people who actually spend a large amount of money on gems is not the same as their original demographic targeted by the manifesto, they’ll change. Because they have to financially. I just hope it can stay moderate and not degrade the game entirely.
But how does Arenanet know that “gear progression” players will spend more money in the Cash Shop?
Have any players received a survey from them assessing this type of behavior? Have they posted surveys on their forums? Has anyone been contacted by a third-party market research company?
I have tried to find analysis on this via the Net. The only things I have found support the importance of “gear progression” within a sub-based game. No one says it is important for a Cash Shop. In fact, whether we like it not, some studies show that people will spend in Cash Shop for “pay to win” items.
Now let’s get to what Arenanet should know. They have had a game in the marketplace for 7 years based on horizontal progression. They have historical data for box sales, expansion sales and cash shop revenue based on that design approach. If that game had failed to meet their financial model projections, they would not have made GW2 with the same approach. They got it right for the niche that loves horizontal progression. $2million box sales is proof. If Cash Shop sales are down, maybe consider improving the items offered. Adding horizontal progression has no direct correlation to increasing Cash Shop revenue.
I suspect that this radical change is more to do with a change in their internal leadership. Having been in corporate America for almost 30 years, I have seen this type of behavior before. It usually happens when a new leader steps in or gains more power. You would be surprised how much one person can change the direction of a company.
and lets say that the estetic item section, is really…really poor. Exactly the section where a lot of player are glad to invest money.
I mean ascension gear is essentially legendary armor, and its not even blocking you from content.
.
So for you its perfectly fine place a huge boost on item that can be aquired only with a massive farm…
on WvW and heavy grinder can have a lot more power then a WvW only player.. this is just wrong.
3. Continue on the current path. Don’s explain anything, don’s speak with the community, try to please everyone with partial gestures.
It’s very unlikely to satisfy anyone but the most pure casual crowd, that doesn’t even buy anything in shop. For grinders it will not be enough, for old community it will be too much, and it will mean losing a distinct game image.
This option will most certainly will lose them the game. There’s no buts and ifs about that.
I comment only this.
Well this is the worst choice, you cant make all the ppl Happy with mid choice or keeping silence.
This is a choice that keep players unsatisfied for a while, and then all leave.
You are just inciting a riot here.
And to compare WoW power creep with GW2’s. I am a 3 years WoWer, GW2 aren’t even a pint close, sorry to say.
I with all the dissatisfaction from the community, I think Anet will reconsider any tier restructuring from now on. So there’s no need to incite a riot around, Anet knows the problem very well.
Im an old wower too, i stopped to play there after wotlk. but if i have choose this game, is too avoid that kind of gameplay even if its minimal ( FOR NOW). so no one here is inciting a riot, is the silence that is enciting it.
they never said they would never add it either so that argument can go both ways. wow theres vertical progression omg worlds going to end because someone has better gear then i do. i really dont care about having the best gear if im HAVING FUN.
And I’m trying to have fun.
And I’m sure the new dungeon is at least as fun as the others.I’m sure I’d even have fun running the dungeon… for a while, at least.
Here is the issue. I don’t like treadmills. I don’t like hamster wheels. I already know this, and it’s why I bought GW2.
Even if the content is fun, I ultimately will despise it. Maybe not this patch. Had I not been so set and so happy to not have mudflation here, I’d probably not be throwing a fit and just jump in and try it out. And I’d probably have had fun, too. I really like this game. It’s been a blast.
But then there will be more Ascended gear. And after Ascended? You can claim there won’t be anything after Ascended, but Anet has never said that, never even implied that. The way gear progression works is.. it keeps going up forever. They’re introducing gear progression. Ascended gear will not be the last tier of gear.
Even if it’s fun, it’s not for me. One day, I’d come to and realize that I’ve felt obligated to grind for this gear to keep up with content and peers, even if it wasn’t fun for me. Then I feel bad because I was playing a game to have fun, but was NOT having fun in a quest to get to some point where I COULD have fun.
So what options do I have? I quit now with fond memories of a great game, or I keep playing and at some point in the future hate every minute I spent in this game running in some developer’s little hamster wheel all so that I could later run in some developer’s little hamster wheel..
to avoid this hamster wheel you have another choice, the B2W option to craft a full set of legendaries because, legend will always be the BIS items.
I really dont know if they think we are all stupids or something else :\
A loyal fanbase created by trust from the developers who understand what their aimed audience would like to see in the gem shop.
Quoted.
its not a matter of vertical or horizontal progression, But the players you are aiming for.
If you aim for both, you fail. , its like what to right and left, in the same moment.
i have no problem to test some hour instead of play, if this can be useful to the development of the game in the right direction.
/agree
Between NCSoft’s stock, their decisions to close down one of their games abruptly, and the sudden change in ArenaNet’s design philosophy, I think something very, very bad is happening internally.
Do we have another Funcom on our hands?
I was thinking about this case too.
TSW have a really good recension, but the previuos delusion about AOC have really invalidate this project. Yes its really sad, but companies cant pretend to delude people and then sell a new product like nothing happend before.
I get where you all are coming from regarding the issue with ascended gear causing vertical progression but think about it…if we had to jump from having exotics straight to legendary gear( if that ever comes out) that would cause a gap between players. This is the issue Anet is trying to avoid with ascended gear I personally dont have a problem with it so long as it doesnt give a huge advantage compared to what we currently are geared in now.
Legendary was not better then exotics in terms of stats, so make a legendary was a personal trophy! (so NO REAL GAP)
Now with this Ascended project, and the tweak of the legendary ones, make a legendary become mandatory if you want to avoid the endless loop of equip farming. (buy2win option) its not a thing that you can notice now, but when the full ascended set become aviable, this simple distinction become more and more evident.

Not going to stop playing over this, it’s still a very good game, just a slightly less good game.
It all depends wether this ascended gear is simply an attempt to fix the current design where your definitive gear is quite easy to obtain, or wether they intend to implement even more powerful gear down the road.
Personally I don’t mind a good grind to make that last bit of gear feel that more valuable, it’s only when it subsequently gets devaluated by the introduction of more powerful gear.
So what’ll it be Anet, a one time gear grind or a gear threadmill. Either take a step back or let us know with an official statement wether this is the last item quality you introduce. What would be the point of infusions if they don’t design content for the upgraded infusions they plan to release? There is no way this can play out except they make content designed around infusions from here on out and you have to maintain and upgrade your infusions and gear to play the content they are devoting their resources to release.
In their vision all new dungeon content will revolve around a gated style of progression that you have to have the latest to engage in, and a stat gap will always exist in all forms of the game besides sPVP between you and the players that devote themselves to Ascended.
you miss a vital point: OBSOLESCENCE
not only exotics become less effective, but runes, sigils, crests and jewels become useless too.
The only way to keep the old content and go further with the agony mechanic is tweek the ascedend stats to the exotic stats and let the players infuse the current exotic set.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads] – 10,053 replies 114,938 views.
And no response of real value to date. (Nov 17th.)
Now Arenanet ONLY reply to threads and posts relating to Fractual Dungeon and Ascended Gear.
They are not interested in our feedbacks and concerns. It’s either you continue to play and support them or you quit. That simple.
That’s being unfair. I’m sure they are listening very intently right now. Maybe their silence means they’ve been surprised by the fierce backlash and are currently discussing what to do about it. I hope they make the right decision.
Honestly, I’d love to give them the benefit of the doubt, but compare how they used to communicate with the customers and the community with how it’s been recently.
They used to be very transparent. We know exactly what they intended to do with the game. They used to do AMAs on Reddit and Q&As elsewhere.
Now their posts are full of rhetoric and doublespeak. I don’t think they can say anything.
I have to say I think they have a boss who is demanding more revenue from gem purchases or was just with them in angry phone calls or something. Why else would such a stupid change be made just 3 months after release?
I can’t imagine any of the developers, programmers, QA staff or support staff were thinking to themselves “lets alienate a huge chunk of our existing playerbase for fun!” You don’t spend years making a game and try to do something this absurd in one patch unless someone is forcing you to do it.
If that is the case and they are not making enough money through gem purchase then they should concentrate on adding more desirable things to the cash shop.
Currently the items in the shop are just not interesting enough for people to pay money for. Add more variety and more cool stuff and people will spend more.
Yep the cash shop is weak… and a lot of player were hoping to buy intresting skins to the shop… not have the buy2win option.

but i think that the “creepy 10k thread” is full of this. ^^
But i dont think they will revert something… They are acting like the king of the beautiful kingdom that is burning , loyal subject are dying everywhere, and in the meanwhile robbers and jackals have an easy way to make money.
(edited by Ganzo.5079)
That’s the worst part, they’ve broken the trust of their userbase and now whatever they say can’t be taken at face value. This is what is making me seriously consider a refund, even if they take some action on this (which seems unlikely atm), whatever they say about the future of the game has to be taken with huge bag of salt. So, staying with the game, even if they normalized ascended with exotics (which they won’t) and said they won’t do it again in the future, it becomes impossible to trust them again because they already went ahead and exacted changes that blatantly disregard their stated design principles. CCP had that confidence shot, but they never got to the point of actually implementing that garbage, IIRC, and that makes a huge difference in how it affects player trust.
The worst part is that they are well aware that they betrayed that trust and don’t give a single alpine skelk about it. Or maybe the worst part is that they seem to wants us to believe that addressing the need of those people who hit the gear tier plateau for more gear tiers is not a Sisyphean task and that they’ll certainly be satisfied forever with this new tier, so don’t worry.
I really dont understand this tactics… they dont say nothing because they dont want make promises they cant keep? Its too late i guess. and i really dont know how many players, buy or invest in something that is simply a mistery. but hey, im not a marketing expert, but i consider myself a wise buyer, and without a declaration of intent, i wont spend a single cent. i dont know if i an ask a refunt, i buyed a retail copy at launch, so i have to ask to my retailer before decide something.
Its not only the manifesto… but interwiev and others blogpost it was stated that they were creating an MMO with gear treadmill (aka gear progression)…
so i know that you not a troll, and you always want to be positive but no.
we arent the ones that have mislead words… Go to read the blog, look some interview… all misleading? i dont think so…
MMORPG = gear progression?
no… its not MMORPG its only and acronym, they have advertise something that NOW its not true, and they dont try to explain something. Can you say that someone its not lying if he keep silence?
So they if they call it mmorpg ok… but they stated clearly what they were creating! in more than an occasion.(not only in the 2010 manifesto, but even after.)
The Manifesto is not a binding contract; it is by definition an expression of an ideology. It’s somewhere between PR and Design Philosophy, but it is not set in stone. If we insist that GW2 broke its own Manifesto, all ANet has to do is demonstrate that Ascended gear was a success in order to demonstrate that the Manifesto was wrong.
manifesto its not a contrat, but is advertising. Remeber that advertise something, and sell something else, is called fraud.
Its an automatic censorship for Bad words.
i think one of the web masters simply love cats
Rollback is not going to happen, this was in the pipeline for some time now. It was a brilliant marketing scheme, I’ll give them that. I even think pre-purchase was started in April for the sole reason to avoid as much refunds as possible.
Im not so sure about this because its a PRE purchase… but the player can effectively use the product when its officially release. so the real countdown start at release, or 3 day before (25 august) for the prepurchasers.
So if its really a marketing move(i doubt it), its not so smart.
Ok i think we have to be happy… to make you happy, how many player have asked a refund today?
ok i know its a trollbait so i dont lose much time with this thread.
And after the ascendant? new tier? there are too many things that simply are in the wrong place.
1) stats of the ascendend gear: it was supposed to be sligh, but if you look the wiki, its not… ascended items have different grade and the rarer one is a lot stronger then an exotic one.
http://www.gw2db.com/items/71355-crystalline-band
104 power, 8% crit damage, 96 precision (no infusion)
exotic ruby ring with gem is
82 power , 6% crit, 63 precision
rare ruby ring with gem
80 power 5% crit, 55 precision
im the one that see a huge gap from the old equipment and the asceded ones? even if they let the ascended item to WvW vendor, the stats gap its simply too huge.
The question raised about how much this thread actually reflects community opinion is a good one. So, let’s try…
An unscientific poll!
How has the introduction of Ascended gear affected you?The results aren’t likely to be very accurate, but at least we’ll have more of a “one person, one vote” situation than everyone posting to a big thread.
(Note: This just a bare-bones opinion poll. Please don’t treat the results like a petition.)
I prefer something official… most of us are to sad\angry, or they simply dont care about anymore.
We were supposed to play, to make fun…instead of this.
Also tell me: When has stats really mattered? Really? Do you think 14% more stats will make you a God Slayer who can own a mob of players in WvW without even loosing 5% HP? Do you think it’ll make you into the ultimate Dragon Slayer who can one shot Shatterer or Claw of Jormag? From my view point? No, it’s just a little reward for people who want to fell more powerful. In a 1v1 sence of WvW, yes it’ll make it unfair, but from a 40 v 40? and 10 players on each side have ascended? I don’t think it’ll be the winning or loosing decider.
When you make something, you cant simply think
“oh ok, in WvW there is always a zerg, so if a player have +50% on stats, it doesnt make difference”
HELL NO!
If you balance something, you have to balance all the aspects! not only 40vs40, but also 1v1, with same skill, same connession…that is balance!
and this new +% stats from ascendend, for WvW is a bad choice. all this new ascended theory is a bad choice.
(edited by Ganzo.5079)
i really dont get why have splitted mechanic! the ascended tier must be only a skin tier and not more strong then the exotic one.
for the infusion, simple solution, let all infuse the exotic gear… All happy, no more work on item balancing… the team can think only on event, bugfix , and a real charachter progression. And mostly, no more refund request, or deluded fanbase.
Quite frankly … The more i look at this the more i believe this was not because of player feedback.
I think it might really be that the upper ranks of the company forced their hands because they wanted more money.
Not a smart one i have to suppose after looking this mess xD
Well, there is a thing that my old work tough me.
An happy customer can get to you 1 or 2 new customers… and if that customers are happy, they get to you other costumers.. its not a fast thing it a little cycle, it take time and its quite rewarding.
But if you delude a customer, it will destroy you reputation whit all the ppl he know, if you delude a lot of customers, your future business is ruined.
i couldnt agree more, if ppl like us simply are enraged, and they dont care about something, they simply quit, and kitten off…
but its not this the case, we are here, we are screaming because we love this work, but this last patch have a really bitter taste…(some part are very very good, some others are forgettable) and the way the are handle the community and the related problems, are a lot bitter.
I have tryed the new island… well… its good, kitten good…
THe island is an hard place, but not like orr, its just, BETTER. when i was wandering in orr, ill just pull everything, mob are annoying so its useless avoid them…but in southsun, you have to step carefully, you can pull one mob or two. but with 3 you are Dead. i have to say that i love that island.
and this make this update more sad… because a such good contents, like southsun cove and the fractal one, are ruined by that ascended set and the step on the grindy MMO.
If Anet was bound to all of the statements they made pre-release, they would never be able to organically evolve the design over time. I’m sorry, but that’s just not now MMOs work. The best possible situation for players is that the company behind the MMO takes data constantly and adapts the design over time to give us all new goals to strive for, new rewards to accumulate, new content to explore, etc.
This is partically true, however, if you have played GW1, you would know that the lack of a gear grind is part of what made the game so succesfull, and kept people interrested in the game for years. In my case, I have played it for almost 10k hours over a 6 year period.
If they would have stayed with their initial goal, to create a full MMO version of a game where grinding is optional even if you want to get the best gear in the game, this would have raised a lot less complaints and down the long road people will still be playing this game.
What this game needs is more competitive/high end PvE (For example, the elite area’s in GW1), and less gear grinds. People will keep playing a game if the content is enjoyable to a point where you can keep doing it forever, and see progression all along. You don’t need a gear treadmill for that.
Can i cry?
Yes we need a statement, but no a PR crap! or something where they can avoid things, like in the last time.
We need a statement about:
-Vertical progression (reverting of ascended stats, or new tiers after ascended)
-Debugging and balance.
And we need it now!(or in a really short amount of time).
I think as customers, we waited too much for a clear reply. i want to know if a can continue to play, and enjoy the content they promise us, or i have just to forget the old idea of GW2 and go somewhere else.
We’re not going to rest on our laurels now. We started this company to innovate and bring players new experiences. Guild Wars 2 is the perfect game for Guild Wars players, but it’s not just the same game repeated again. We took this opportunity to question everything, and we have some exciting answers for you today.
The first thing you should know about Guild Wars 2 is that, this time around, there’s no question that it’s an MMORPG. It’s an enormous, persistent, living, social world, filled with a wide variety of combat and non-combat activities. There’s so much depth here that you’re never going to run out of new things to discover.
So if you love MMORPGs, you should check out Guild Wars 2. But if you hate traditional MMORPGs, then you should really check out Guild Wars 2. Because, like Guild Wars before it, GW2 doesn’t fall into the traps of traditional MMORPGs. It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill; it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun rather than just having fun; and of course, it doesn’t have a monthly fee.
Need anything else to read?
This Ascended gear treadmill follows from the gems to gold revenue stream.
I was in the vast minority when I posted my displeasure over the gems for gold announcement on Guru.
Other players tried to downplay the pay to win aspect by pointing out that the top tier level 80 gear was so easy to get it would never matter.
Other players said we were foolish and worried for no reason when we said they would find ways to get people to buy gold by making the game grindy for those who didn’t.
Other players said botters and gold farmers wouldn’t be an issue because of gems for gold.
Other players said a lot of not so nice things about us over this issue.
Now I have one thing to say to all of them:
We told you so.
Sorry but you are connecting 2 separate things. Sure some bought their way to the top, but most didn’t. The more hardcore players simply don’t have to pay their way to the top.
On the contrary if what you are saying is true they would have taken longer to do this as it is still very early in the games life and profits no doubt have been good from gems.Explain to me how grinding 60-100 hours at 1 gold per hour for one back slot item versus buying the mats with gems exchanged for gold isn’t pay to win? That’s standard pay to win. Either unreasonable grind or open your wallet.
Sadly its exactly this…
pay for skins, not for win…
Its need only time, Pve And PVP balance, LESS PR STUFF ( with more direct communication ) and NO STATS GRIND.
Anet have the artists, and they are quite good. they have to focus on more skins from armor and weapons (i dont care if a have to farm a month for a single skin, because its my choice to do that). The game in its actual form, its like a huge betatest, and its not a problem if they return on the good road, they return to bugfix and balance classes, and they prepare more mature content. (like new weapon skills)
I dont care if we have to miss the christmas event, if the give us the game that they promise us.
Well guys i dont think tha lag is a major problem, remeber that currently with this event they are running the invitational event… So even if this patch is unpopular, for now we have much population then before in game, and keep in mind that some grinder is returned to grind in the new shiny dungeon. So we cant attack Anet for the event lag, is a series of unfortunate events…
But for the ascendent gear project, is another story.
So it seems the community is now split into two groups over the Ascended gear.
1. The group that either does not care or is excited about the new armor and is looking forward to obtaining.
2. The group that believes ANet is going back on their promise about no gear progression and are upset to the point that they will quit the game and possibly attempt to get a refund.
I wonder which group is larger. I am sure though that whichever group affects Anet’s bottom line the most is the one they will cater to. Unfortunately companies exist to make money.
At this point though, if they choose to change the Ascended armor they run the risk of alienating those who are happy about the new changes and don’t want to go back to horizontal progression.
Thats pose a question…
So in the first group, there are the persons that dont care about the change…so obviously, they dont care if Anet delete this patch…
But the second group, why have bouth this game, when in no blog there was advertising of gear progression? Legendary are only for aspect, no gear grind, no treadmill…
These are the type of player that play without take informations before buy, and they are the type of player that leave first when a New MUST HAVE game come to the market.
i dont think it help… in any case…

You guys dont make sense. I mean, you talk about how awesome this dungeon is, how fun it can be. You more then likely will play it many, many, many times. You say oh god how i wish it was just cosmetic upgrades, but instead its cosmetic AND stat boost.
I ask this…what does it matter what it drops? Your going to be running these dungeons over and over again because you like it, and you have fun with it.
You all seem to over dramatize the minor stat boosts like its the end of the world. If its a fun game, its a fun game. Period.
The people mad about the stat boosts are the ones who don’t enjoy dungeons, and they won’t be running it. The people in this thread are just saying that the dungeon is fun without having the increased stats, implying Anet could have made people who enjoy running dungeons happy as well as those who don’t at the same time.
Really no… i enjoy dungeon.. but i dont want to be forced to do the same thing again and again and againg to remain competitive. And even if they add this new gear to crafting or WvW badges, this change nothing, because when the farmers ones, return to ask new gear again, simply the cycles repeat. again, and again and again…
Its worse then be killed with a spoon
If not…well the game wont die, but it will fall into the gaping void and blend with the other thousands average MMO’s.
It’s there already. What’s the difference now between all other MMO’s and this one is beyond me.
we can dodge xD
anyway is a lot of time that i feel this lack of something between the staff and the playerbase…i dunno why all this… i have some theory but i prefer keep them for myself.
So who said that exotics is the max level?
Start look this interwiev at 6:40.
Its kinda sad re listen this.

Personally I don’t realize myself by fighting imaginary cyberwars on forums.
I’m not here to fight ArenaNet. I’m here because I don’t like where this is going to lead a game I personally loved and spent a lot of time into.
I’d rather be in-game playing than here posting. That was the case before this fiasco.
i agree, no one is here to fight ANet, but its seem that anet is Engaging a sort of cold war with us. And silence is a great tool to make ppl enrage.
