Same here.

I don’t recall if it was Origins of Madness or Edge of the mists, but my game will crash about half the time on logging out (fully exiting the game).

I’ll try deleting local.dat and running -repair to see if it helps any.

Temple of Melandru - not resetting properly

Temple of Melandru was stalled on TC for 5 hours this morning as it didn’t reset properly. The meta was stalled at the Temple defense stage – the “[Group Event] Defend the Pact interrupter from Risen attacks.” The meta accordingly also said the correct “The pact are trying to hold the Temple of Melandru”

However on checking out the temple, the Legendary Priest was merely wandering around on a fixed path around the temple’s upper and lower steps, doing nothing. Similarly, the Risen spawned waves as part of the event, as well as the Veteran Earth elementals were merely idle at the interrupter not attacking it.

The interrupter had received about 3-5% damage, assumedly from the fighting between the local friendly NPCS that littered the area, downed, and the risen wave. But after the npcs were downed, the risen seemingly broke and did nothing to the interrupter.

I had to stack on the interrupter and get them to attack me, to get the event to fail and reset the meta.

Charr tail problem with armours

It’s far from a high priority fix, and I doubt we’ll ever see all, let alone the majority of armors ever not tailclip. Many would argue it’s not even an issue at all.

That being said, they have remade armors since release. Look at old pictures of SE heavy dredge armor on Charr. It looks a little different today – now with tail flap. There’s a couple other examples, but they elude me at the moment.

I don’t know why the ones that were retouched on were changed, but they all seem to have tail flaps, or at least are better about tail clipping.

Lightning Flash at WvW!

There’s two distinct bugs here:

One pertains to all teleport skills (and some movement effects like rocket boots) where your character will awkwardly pose as if immobilized, and be utterly stuck until you move in another direction.

Another bug seems to pertain to only very specific teleports, like Lightning Flash and Dark Path, where after teleporting, you act as if you’re slightly stuck in the ground, and are completely stuck until you use another movement effect/teleport, or are hit by a knockback/down or blowout.

The latter has gotten me killed multiple times as well. I’ve never heard of using an emote to fix it, but I might try that in situations where I can.

Far from new yeah. Sadly, I don’t think Arenanet has ever applied the logic of necessitating priority for mobs that you know… explode for massive damage.

Grenth cleanse has them too, as it also has Vet acolyte spawns.

I frequently also don’t render newly spawned vet and champion hatchlings in Southsun – the only reason I know they’re there at all is because of floating name plates.

Some part of it is simply how well your computer performs, but that will mean nothing in the end if there isn’t some logic applied to priority.

Condi damage eles? I’m… confused. You got a little burn, and okay bleeds… and… yeah.

Medkit is really lacking as a condi removal for immobilize, because of obvious problems. It’s also a pretty terrible reactionary condi removal because of the time it takes to switch to it, drop an antidote, and potentially switch back to a kit.

Healing turret similarly has the same problem of being a delayed condition removal.

I honestly don’t know any engineers that actually slot Elixir C, because there are much better elixirs if you’re an elixir build. But then again, I don’t play a lot of sPvP anymore, nor do I play without elixirs because yay pigeonholing.

Been using Magitech medium for some time on my larger female engineer.

There is some small degree of stretching on the leggings, and of course a tail clip, but the tail clip isn’t as glaringly bad as it is with some armors imo.

Pretty happy with my look!

Also, as for posts neglecting to mention the armor they’re using -it never hurts to shoot the poster a PM if you really wanna know.

My Ash Legion elementalist.

I actually didn’t look very much at options when I put this together, I just happened to like how the colors went together with his fur and hair colors, and I love the ornate gems.

I may replace the leggings someday, as they’re a tad bit more stretched then I’d like, with a tailclip. May not be easy to do, as now that I’ve looked at light legging options for my new Mesmer, I like exactly two non cultural pants.

Svanir (HotW) chest, leggings and gloves with T2 Archon shoulders, T1 boots and the starter Stone Eye.

I’m still mixing and matching my Mesmer’s set. Will post later when I’ve decided on a look!

Fix Orr events finally please

For Dwayna on TC (it surprisingly seems to still be functioning, which is miraculous considering how long it’s been since the last reset) I find that the event most often gets stuck after the Historian event, and killing the Risen Priestess.

It seems like the majority of the time the event gets stuck, the status is at ‘Only Malchor the Sculptor can break the seal…’ and correspondingly, GW2stuff shows the event as on ‘Beat up Malchor’.

I have no idea what causes it, but Malchor seemingly just fails to spawn at Malchor’s Anguish once in a while, with no Historian, nor event risen mobs at the temple (just the risen patrolling the outskirts)

The bug(s) plaguing Lyssa seem inconsistent at best, made worse still by the fact that the temple is the least often done, aside from Balthazar. I often hear people proclaiming that the cannon event progress is stuck, and thus the seal is unbreakable. The temple will stall for days at a time, yet once in a while people seem to find a way to progress it.

I’ve seen Lyssa stalled for 150+ hours a few times, and suddenly completed and opened without a reset – often going right back into a seeming stuck state.

I’ve also seen the Arah chain stalled at “The pact is rallying to establish a forward base” with Warmaster Chan sitting in Meddler’s Summit, completely uninteractable, while GW2state shows ‘escort Warmaster Chan’.

Charr Tier 1 armor best looking cultural set?

Assuming this thread is merely about Heavy cultural? If so – I have to cast my order of preference in the following: Tier 2 > Tier 3 > Tier 1

Tier 1 is really not my thing – I can appreciate the spikes, but it’s rather simplistic in appearance and design, and the material’s unusual highly reflective specularity makes it hard to dye, as colors come off as dull and flat. Dyes can make a rather large impact on armor, but there’s only so much you can do with some armors, like this one.

Massive floating shoulders aside, I’m most fond of the Tier 2 set. It’s beautiful full plate, not particularly a fan of the helmet, but I have never found a heavy helmet on Charr that I’ve not kept hidden anyway.

I transmuted it down on making my guardian, and kept her decked out in Legion armor through her journey to 80 – so I have some pretty fond memories with the look. (I’ve switched to a mixed and matched set since hitting 80)

I like the tier 3 set, particularly that it has a ‘layered’ appearance. Shoulders and helm are ones I’d consider actually displaying. But personally for me, I couldn’t see using it as it’s seemingly so very common.

It seems like half the time I see a Charr warrior, he or she is decked out in full tier 3 cultural.

Just my two cents! Don’t be afraid to mix and match and experiment – dyes and unusual armor piece combinations can make for some fantastic looks.

Edit: Popped in some pictures of my guardian and warrior. Guard with T2 cultural + ordinary banded pauldrons. Warrior has Vigil heavy.

dragonite ore are absurd...

T7 mat accumulation is largely dependent on how you play. I have a 5-4-1 ratio of Bloodstone, Dragonite and Empy shards at present.

I honestly have nearly stopped dungeoning altogether – I have lots of alts and do guild activities weekly, along with frequent world bosses most of the time, and somewhat frequent WvW now.

I’m often in Orr farming for T6 mats – and very frequently catch temple events on alts.

It was a pain for me to grind out those last empyreal fragments when I was finishing up my ascended weapon crafting for the third time – even resorting to an old favorite HoTW speed run grind and alt parking at jump puzzles, I found it painfully slow to gather empy shards.

Flamethrower and Retaliation

I’ve used a frontline FT/EG build for ages. Fortunately, FT’s largest chunk of damage does not come from the auto!

Only time I ever experience problems with Retal is when I come across an organized tagged blob (guild groups), in which case there’s plenty of other ways to be useful that don’t involve autoing myself to death.

Occasionally non tagged zergs/militia will have a couple retal stackers as well, but it’s still not nearly as common as people seem to suggest in my experience, particularly if your group has any amount of boon strippers in it’s makeup.

If you want to talk about problems with retaliation, take a look at Ranger LB #5 Barrage, or grenade barrage. At least flamethrower users can stop attacking before it kills us.

TL;DR – I know it’s tempting to want to autoattack #1 in every situation in GW2, but just don’t do it against a counter to it, and then complain that a weapon skill is broken.

? I thought the chest that spawns after defeating the Karka Queen (and all world bosses) is once per character per day, but the bonus chest (the one that spawns in the bottom-right corner) is once per account per day?

They are all once per character per day except the Karka Queen’s chest.

The chest that spawns after the Crazed Karka Queen is defeated is no longer limited to once a day.

I could be wrong, but I believe that patch note was to reflect a change during Secrets of Southsun/Canach to make it more rewarding to keep doing during the event.

It’s out of date, because the Karka Queen chests today currently function like any other boss: bonus = once per day per account, ground = once per day per character.

The bonus chest (floating bottom right) is the chest with 1 garunteed rare or better, and is only once per day per account per boss.

The physical ground chests which contains the dragonite is once per day per character per boss.

That’s why I said, if you want dragonite, log into your 80 alts to farm it. (Ascended mats only drop if you’re level 80)

KQ’s ground chest is nice as it also drops an additional 5 karka shells each time.

Hitting up Orr Temples will net you about 20-30 dragonite per temple, per character. It adds up very quickly.

Halcyon, my ratio differs greatly from yours. I had:
2.4k Empyreal Fragments
2.6k Bloodstone Dust
0.5k Dragonite Ore

Yep! Different reward ratios for different playstyles. I do a lot of world bosses inbetween T6 node harvesting, particularly because this allows me time to alt tab and do other things between bosses and while running to ore.

I’ve never been big on dungeons other than to get access to a transmog look, or stat combinations, and my ascended materials count reflects that. Most of my Empy shards are probably from WvW actually.

As others have said, armor class matters little. I do just fine at melee range with my engineer in full zerk armor with cavalier trinks, as I take toolkit for the extra block, and Elixir B for the stability.

@Khisanth: I very much agree, probably the most annoying aspect to the fight now is that the arms obscure much of your vision at times, and can prevent you from picking up on the static field tells. Aside from the obvious problems with health scaling, of course.

Alt farming world bosses.

As someone who has seven 80’s, I currently have ~ a 5/4/1 ratio of Bloodstone/Dragonite/Empy.

The Dragonite comes from the ground chest, and thus each world boss’s dragonite is claimable once per day per level 80 character.

Megadestroyer chest currently doesn’t drop dragonite for whatever reason. Arah chest doesn’t either.

I use the Magitech medium and couldn’t be happier personally. Keep in mind it is a blatant tail clip, but I’m not quite as finicky with that as some. The armor looks too great for such a minor thing in my opinion.

I’ve seen some Charr heavies pull off a fantastic look, particularly with mainly darker dyes. And apparently doesn’t tail clip!

I’d say good luck on passing off the light though on Charr. Not my thing, at any rate!

Out of curiosity why the insistence on 15 in tools? Inertial Converter will only really be useful if you use Medkit most of the time (in which case go 20 for Packaged Stimulants perhaps), or possibly double elixir R toss pickups.

The obvious choice would be 5 more in Firearms: between Sharpshooter, tranquilizer dart, and blunderbuss, as well as other players, your targets will more or less always be bleeding. Heck, Sharpshooter alone should guarantee that 5%.

Alternatively you can go back to 10 in Tools and 10 into Explosives for Incendiary Powder or Acidic Elixirs for boon removal. (Although IP is possibly moving to Master level on the 10th)

Floor 3 - soloing is impossibru

Be careful about your pulls, and keep in mind that the new downed state mobs will call for aid in a huge radius, even attracting those not in combat.

Like Morbridae said, I never implied it was easy, merely that it is double. My ele and especially engineer bit the dust more than a few times on my solo attempts. (Mostly because the latter is a zerk build) And I know that almost every time I’ve made it to the block event, people wound up joining in eventually.

For the portal event, stay on the bottom floor near the purifier – you can pick off weaker mobs, and pull towards the purifier. This way you don’t aggro the elite and vets on the upper level on the path to the chamber. I also made sure to keep the purifier clear itself – wound up having to kill the Vet toxic spawn there a few times while waiting on more twisted watchmen.

Lyssa and Dwayna bugged - Desolation

Dwayna bugged over 230 hours on TC (also US). Malchor never showed.

Lyssa was stuck for over 180 hours before somehow being completed, despite the cannon event still not progressing. Screenshot here of the bugged cannon event, with a cleared Lyssa.

Arah also stuck for about the same as Dwayna TC: ~200 ish hours. Warmaster Chan is uninteractable.

Melandru has also more recently broke, meta event description stuck at “The Pact is Preparing an attack” ~ 130 hours

Done it alone as a ranger, elementalist and engineer.

Part of the problem is indeed the scaling – a large party moving through an event not bothering to kill will leave behind upscaled mobs that are quite a bit harder to get past.

Another factor is other people clearing mobs, particularly around air purifiers. It’s significantly easier for me to traverse it solo if other people have already cleared.

If you’re having trouble I highly suggest you find a party, or guest to a realm that hasn’t had a huge upscaled event spawn everything.

Fortunately, Floor 3 probably has the easiest progress block event, provided there aren’t a ton of corpses nearby, or people leaving for whatever reason upscaling it.

Players dropping from party when gone offline

I’ve noticed different behavior with different people.

I still manage to keep party with certain friends even after as long as 8-12 hours, with none of us online.

Other people seem to automatically be dropped from party after an amount of time. Just one of those weird things… Always makes me wonder if there’s something in options or the like.

Can confirm this it even happens when i got my audio muted ;_; it’s like a loud bang/popping noise the Youtube video link is what i’m hearing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkavVdhdPeo)

This is similar to what I’m hearing, but what I hear is always significantly louder than any other game sound.

Then again, it doesn’t always seem to be the exact same sound each time either.

Out of curiosity: how many of those who have the issue play in windowed fullscreen and/or tab in/out a lot? I seem to notice it more likely to happen after tabbing back in.

I like to play my own music via Pandora, Youtube, or even sometimes listen to podcasts, and often hear the sound on tabbing back into the game.

Unless it’s a thief who knows how to play and is running basi venom + lyssa runes. I agree that thieves are generally not too tough to bring down (as long as they overcommit, since we can’t catch them generally) but it’s true that build/skill matters at least as much as profession.

Thought it was pretty clear I was making a generalized statement, but yes, didn’t disagree with Coglin’s point!

I have no specific profession that is easier to kill then another. How a player is speced, and how they play is what makes the difference. Profession is irrelevant, to me, capability and, traits, and utilities effect the fight to me, more then anything.

Very true, but some professions are innately worse at certain things than others.

Theives are juicy targets for engineers because we can quickly overload them with conditions that they can’t easily cleanse, and have the survival tools to live through their burst.

I also enjoy shutting down innately low health guardians and elementalists with unexpected high damage power burst + poison spam.

SoR ~ TC ~ MAG Week 5 Gold League

Has SoR dropped to Tier 1.5? I’ve been unable to WvW much due to RL lately, but it seems SoR is much reduced in strength.

We’ll see in week 7 and what happens afterward.

I’m curious how pre Season 1 TC would have done against the current SoR.

Even if TC dominated in NA prime, that off prime coverage from SoR would still carry them to a win.

Not really doubting we would have lost, I’m just curious how much closer the score would have been!

The loss of people even shows itself in the PvE side of TC. Bit quieter now a days in the open world – and even off prime, some of those people would’ve helped fill the ranks at odd hours.

Only 2 more patches

There are only 2 patches left before the end of the year. We are still missing the following that was supposed to be implemented before the end of the year:

1. New traits
2. New skills
3. Crafting to 500 for armor
4. Ascended armor
5. Precursor crafting
6. New legendary weapons
7. New PvP game modes
8. Legendary weapons in PvP

I can’t image all these things dropping in the same patch. Where is the info on these? What patch are they coming in?

1. We’ve had new traits – mostly in the form of other traits being merged and new ones being added to fill the gaps. Modified Ammunition, Fresh Air, Dogged March… Just off the top of my head.
2. Antitoxin, Tainted Shackles. Some skills have been modified so extensively they’re arguably new. I would love to see much more of this though, particularly in new weapon sets.
3-4. Ascended armor has been in game since Twilight Assault (lookup data mined game codes), just not implemented. I’m betting we’ll see these during or before Wintersday.
5. Like 3-4, journal entries have been data mined. And like 3-4, Wintersday, unless there are unforeseen delays we may never know about!
6-7. Can’t argue here. tPvP sorely needs new game modes/types. And I’d kill for a new rifle or pistol legendary!
8. Again, there have been text strings datamined for this.

I’d actually be quite sad if they fixed this – I love having my Mad Memories lighting effect whenever I have a kit equipped.

I’d much rather a more sensible solution be implemented: Let engineers choose to show or hide their kits like backslots. Or give the option of giving the backslot priority over the kit.

For visibility in PvP, I don’t even know why kits don’t already have an icon like elementalist attunements – this way people could identify what kit an engineer is using without having to rely on the backpack. (Bomb and Toolkit are currently bugged anyway and share the same look)

Annoying Sound Bug

I’ve been having the same clicking/popping for months now.

Fortunately it’s incredibly infrequent, but adjusting ingame sound volume sliders don’t seem to affect it.

I’ve resorted to playing GW2 with my system volume always below 20%, and have for almost a year now.

Ugh, go try the Fire Shaman in Iron Marches with 5. You will not think like that again He kind of resets really fast in the Fire Elemental stage 5 might be able to do it but not 5 randomers. Organized, knowledgable group, maybe.

I did it with three, the third person having joined in after the first greater embers stage.

Someone in /say was suggesting that what causes the resets is players leaving the area (crossing the fire line AoE) – I haven’t had time to test and verify this, but it definitely makes sense as with more people, there are more people being knocked around by the greater ember whirlwinds, and more people being knocked out.

Two manning the Karka queen preevents was another fun challenge! It’s very possible with 3 if you choose the correct order to do the events, from longest to shortest. (Karka, Pride Point, Kiel, Drift).

I managed to duo Karka and Pride with another guardian, while he did Kiel Outpost and I took Driftglass eggs.

Pride was painfully slow, as it was tough keeping NPCs alive to help hold.

I’d still recommend a minimum team of 3 though for it.

Orr events keep breaking

TC Orr badly needs a reset.

Temple metas have often gotten stuck in the past, but frequent updates usually made it not too much of an issue.

In this case however, Arah, Lyssa and Dwayna all broke within a matter of a day or two after the last reset, so they’ve all been stuck for quite some time. Mel is now going on a day and a half I believe.

Strait Karma Train

Lost touch…? Straits hasn’t had a karma train in almost a year now.

Which is sad, because Balth meta is still somewhat decent for karma and loot.

For karma, I suggest WvW, invasions, or possibly living story – but the latter varies a lot.

Claw of Jormag - Chain Fear

As others have said it’s not a chain fear. The ability the Claw uses is a long cast fear which can fear for each tick – what’s happening is that people are using stunbreaks or condition cleanses (which removes fear) too early – before the move finishes, and getting fear reapplied.

Wait til he stops roaring before wasting your cooldowns.

The scaled champs at SB can drop a squishier build if you’re not paying attention.

It’s a good start, but I don’t feel it’s nearly enough – SB at a minimum needs a bit of a health increase. But please, please please, not to the level of Maw, which is frankly a bit silly…

These instances seem bugged for party play: Only one carried purifier functions. The rest of the party has to suffer the toxic pollen effects, even if they’re carrying a purifier, until they place it.

Fortunately, all of the placed purifiers seem to be working. (The cleansing bubble that emanates from the purifier works, that is to say.)
