If you want to play bunker melee in zerg I recommend this build:and you talking about bad builds..
Now it is going to be kid from your side. It is similar to yours but uses bombs instead of kittenty FT. Plus stability for group and 3 blast finishers with thumper turrent. Which is the main role for engineers in zerg: CC and blast finishers. But as you told: waste of time to talk with you. Don’t argue with PvE guys… FT build … saying my build is bad… rofl you are a joke.
You do realize the build Roz linked can blast finish nearly just as well right? And still has water and fire fields, (hard) cc access, and probably the best group condition cleanse in the game?
For long range damage nuke, I much prefer my zerk/valk staffy elementalist. Maybe that’s just me though.
For the toast!
Bit of a bump, but I wanted to ask for clarification:
Are you having trouble locating or getting to the meat hunks?
If the former, holding left ctrl will show the nameplate for any interactibles in the area.
For the toast!
I swear engineer is a natural for the Liadri fight. I didn’t do Gauntlet last year, but it only took me four tries to beat Liadri, less than two hours for the gauntlet overall.
For Liadri, I used a slight modification to my current build (in sig), opting to switch to more rifle traits. 0/6/0/6/2, IV VI IX, I VII X, VI running with Healing Turret, Elixir B, Elixir U, Elixir Gun and Supply crate. Full zerk, cav trinks.
With Orrian Truffle and meat stew along with vigor uptime and Rifle #5/EG #4 for movement skills, it’s actually rather hard to find yourself at risk of being hit by shadowfell. Use Acidic Leap on Liadri in P2 when she starts the spin attack as she stays rooted for quite some time.
Another thing I’ve noticed that may be helpful, particularly to grenadiers is the fact that multiple visions of mortality can be converted at one time. I’ve kited 3 and converted them all at the same time. Helpful if going for Light Up the Darkness.

Just to make sure you’re aware, you do know activating a gambit costs a full gauntlet ticket per gambit?

I always wondered why people don’t run Ashford trains. There’s a really nice bunch of champions there.
Though this thread is defunct now, I felt like answering this question at least:
Almost all of the events in Ashford that are related to champions have incredibly lengthy reset periods. Some also only spawn during certain parts of their respective related meta event chain. Wasp was the only champion that was connected to a chain in Queensdale, by comparison.
It’s something in the ballpark of 30-45 minute for most of them, even longer for the Vault and Ascalon City Ruins areas.
Not to mention how often the events broke and stall – I haven’t seen the Flame Effigy in months, and I’ve only seen Siegemaster Lormar once or twice lately from getting on fresh megaserver copies where nothing is broken yet.

(edited by Halcyon.7352)
That’s actually a boy and there’s 3 of them in the game; one in pve, one in wvw and one in pvp. They’ve been Easter eggs every since the game was released.
This. There was a similar thread about the Gendarran one not long ago.
I’ve only personally seen the WvW one, though the Gendarran one appears to be in fairly plain sight – just never gone looking for it.

The male face added in the previous group of three this is based off of also has the same problem.
Most of the new Charr faces of both genders have pretty horrendous clipping issues.

I think the Champion Troll spawns even more quickly, over in Caledon. Yet, few do that one, either.
They just aren’t part of the Train…..
Pretty much this. The reason Boar is so popular is because there are other champions in the zone with the right event timers to spawn in a relatively neat and orderly fashion. People can just do it in a never ending champ train
By comparison, Wayfarer Foothills has only two champions that I can think of, off the top of my head, aside from Maw. Dome Champion in the northern part of the zone is the only other I can think of, and it’s at the end of a lengthy event chain that has an even lengthier reset period.

Noxxic honestly had no real reason to have a GW2 section.
I mean, I appreciated their build calculator back in the day where it was one of only a few out there, and it was nice to have a compendium of information available in one spot.
But almost all of the information was easily viewable ingame anyway. It very quickly became dated and served no real purpose.
Not to mention the site tried a little too hard to make up for the lack of trinity with set roles that aren’t nearly so neatly defined as they tried to make it. How many times have you gone into GW2 and looked for a party with the right amount of ‘support’ and ‘control’?
For the toast!
I don’t understand what you’re saying. To my knowledge, all events that are “better to fail” have been fixed to encourage success. ArenaNet learned their mistake with the Scarlet Invasions.
Like every Temple in Orr.
Oh wait, nevermind!
Guarenteed rare/exotic for completing as well as the chest which has a high likelyhood of containing another rare & other goodies is worse than a few porous bones?
Well that’s new to me. One’s mans junk is another man’s treasure I guess.
Exactly my point. Yet people still successfully defend and don’t let them fail.
You’re contradicting your earlier statement about better to fail events being ‘fixed’.
Aside from temples, there are still many countless examples of event chains where it’s more beneficial on a whole to let things fail, or to draw out events to farm.

The best dragonite source – Temples in Orr. You get 30 dragonite from each, so it stacks pretty fast. The only downside is that they are not on the official schedule, so you will have to randomly go to Orr to see if any are up.
Used to be incredibly easy to alt hop and guest to get dragonite via this method. Still works, but you’re in for a whole lot of random chance on which copy of the map you get into, and lots of waiting now.
You could instead do it with high dragonite reward scheduled bosses, like Claw of Jormag (iirc anyway). Take note of which bosses give high dragonite totals and do it on alts.
For the toast!
The damage totals are simply not resetting. You’re not doing any more damage than usual.
It’s not clear if it’s a bug or an intended change.
It’s been happening since 4/15 dropped to all skills that tick multiple times and recast. Mesmer spatial surge, elementalist arc lightning for example.
For the toast!
Just zoned in to Caledon Forest, only to found out that the Great Jungle Wurm was already dead after several seconds, apparently by mesmers.
Looking at the lack of replies or confirmation by devs, chances are this is never going to be fixed, along with the bugs at Tequatl, Taidha Covington, Gates of Arah, Megadestroyer, Temple of Balthazar and more.
Hey, you forgot Dredge Commissar, Foulbear Chieftain, Temple of Melandru and Temple of Dwayna to add to the list of permanently stallable world bosses with bugs that have existed and been reported for probably a year and a half now.
At least I haven’t come across the infamous Lyssa cannon progress stall since 4/15 – maybe that’s finally been fixed.
I have a feeling though that the Jungle Wurm will see a fix with a patch soon – afterall it does directly affect something related to the feature pack release, and is because of a new ability added in during 4/15 that someone forget to tick as unreflectable.

Be nice to get word on this. It’s a rather significant bug for any events containing Vet+ Subjugators.
Couple other threads out there on this subject as well.
Few of us died at Wren and waypointed to Blighted Arch. Where we promptly died again, because there was no way for any of us to stop being leeched, halfway across the map…

1200 gems so far and unless chest and pants (if offered at all) go for more (maybe 400?) we’ll end up with 1800 gems for a set instead of the current 800. Not bad.
Perhaps more on topic – how do they work on charr?
Personally I’m of the opinion that the set overall so far, looks terrible on Charr.
The shoes aren’t the worst I’ve seen, but the back dewclaw juts out randomly through the back of the thick heel material, which looks plain silly. Still, it’s better than the dewclaw jutting through the heel itself, which is all too common.
I can see working the shoulders into a look perhaps, or maybe the gloves – I like the lower bit of the gloves. It’s the wrist and upper armguards that I wish didn’t exist.

Yeah, I’d say it’s intended game design. Everything about GW2 pushes people to working together and social play. Frankly the party tagging system is one of my favorite features of GW2 – I would literally pay to have this in other MMO’s.
As the above poster stated – this model works great for the previous system with moderate to small populations at events. The new megaserver system makes getting in your fair share of damage much harder due to the sheer numbers of people- which is further compounded by the fact that people are grouping up to make it easier for themselves.
Would be really nice to see other actions factor into event and perhaps loot credit, but it seems pretty dauntingly difficult to execute and implement fairly.
For the toast!
Welp the Rixt theory appears to be garbage.
Have done two megadestroyers since posting – cleared Rixt events in both cases. The second one bugged.
For the first, the Veteran Wind Rider died just seconds before the tunnel preevents finished up. This one worked.
For the second, I’d completed the Vet event just before the destroyer essence collection was succesfully halted, and the lab was later defended and then the destroyer tunnels pre. Bugged.
For the toast!
I’ve noticed some odd behavior with Muddy Terrain as well – it keeps me in combat for a ridiculous amount of time and distance.
I’d assume it’s cause it triggers conditions (immobilize and cripple) on critters. The thing is – I stay in combat long after being out of visual and targeting range of any potentially affected critters.
Sometimes it seems to hit nothing and I’m still in combat.
For the toast!
Bump.
There are plenty instances in the open world with NPCS erroneously given incorrect models – male Charr npcs with female voices and vice versa.
Kinda shameful that even a miniature would have this problem.

I started a similar thread on this bug a little over a week ago.
In my most recent encounter, a VETERAN subjugator (not even an elite or champ) spawned at Wren defense in Malchor’s. No one bothered to interrupt – about six people including myself died to it and other veterans and mobs in the area.
At least three players waypointed to the nearest uncontested – Blighted Arch, a fair distance across the map and were still being siphoned. Being across the map, there was no way to avoid the damage, and there was another pile of corpses on the waypoint.
For the toast!
After being to three bugged megadestroyers in a row, someone suggested an interesting thought at the 16:00 scheduled one today.
Mentioned doing the Breeze Rider event south of the volcano as some people think it may interfere and potentially cause the stall.
For anyone that doesn’t know, before the 4/15 patch and the rework to bosses including Megadestroyer, in order to trigger the Megadestroyer meta event chain, you had to help Rixt collect the breeze rider essence.
This event would seem to no longer be tied to the megadestroyer chain – even if it’s not completed, the other two nearby events trigger when in window. I wonder if they left in the requirement of this event needing to be completed, thus somehow stalling the Stabilization event?
The Megadestroyer I was just at didn’t bug, someone had cleared the breeze rider essence event. I’ll try and test this in the future.
For the toast!
I can pretty safely say that the idea that they’ve ‘disabled the reporting of waypoint status across different maps’ isn’t working.
If you think about Megaserver being just a glorified universal overflow system, it makes much more sense. What’s happening is that when you look at the world map and other zones, you’re seeing the current state of the waypoints in your current megaserver copy. When you actually waypoint, you may end up in a different copy.
This is why you’ll see some contestable waypoints uncontested, and will sometimes be able to waypoint there from out of map; or just the opposite – waypoint to a contestable waypoint, and be redirected elsewhere because you’ve arrived on a different copy.
At any rate, cross zone waypoint status is definitely not disabled currently, despite it being mentioned as such. I’ve experienced behavior exactly as you’ve mentioned, OP.
For the toast!
Farming Cursed Shore events for heavy bags/rares has been a better option than champ trains for a long long time.
This. Except the good ones have been nerfed with 4/15.
For example, not only is it nearly impossible to get people to not defend Arah for the trait now, mobs no longer spawn at the infamous Arah pre-event farm.
Not to mention how difficult it is to know when any of the temple events in CS are up.
You can still do some other events I suppose – Plinx, Tactician Megill pre, and Shelter/Pen and Jofast to some extent (until the champs come a knocking). Funny how things have come full circle, and the farms that died out are now the only ones you can do fairly reliably.
For the toast!
I actually think they’ve gone up, or I’ve been on an incredible lucky streak lately.
Prior to March, I had a total of four ever dropping for me. I’ve received four since this March – one in late march, two within hours of one another in Orr, one being post 4/15 patch.
Even with the last few keys, that’s 8 keys total in about ~4k hours total play time. So I would hardly call it a dependable method of obtaining keys.
Edit: This is from mob drops, not map completion or dailies.
For the toast!
So, I’m frankly puzzled by how no one has mentioned this yet…
How many of you have been testing while in a party?
I have basically no problems getting champion bags for valid champions that actually do drop loot while in a party, unless the majority are low levels or condition builds (or semi/partly afk/space cadeting)
I never seem to have a problem receiving credit and bags for all 7 Ulgoth champions, for example, when in a group. It’s an absolute struggle for me to, solo, unless I’m on a full zerk character.
It’s always seemed to me that champ bag (and loot in general) credit is determined by a % damage, which the entire party can contribute to.
This is how level 20+’s farmed and killbooster speed leveled in Cursed Shore, before the nerf of the Angaria and Arah chain. Party does damage enough to get kill credit, low level smacks them to do a slight amount of damage to tag, and receive full loot and xp.
Sadly this means that condition damage builds and support are again suffering from the new megaserver and the state of general open world PvE. You’re kind of just a burden to your party, unfortunately.
For the toast!
You can always mail people to remind them that they’re invisible.
However if they actually are using invisible to harass you, just block them.
For the toast!
I honestly think this is merely a side effect of them turning up the screen shake effect globally for whatever reason.
Go do any events in which screen shake was prevalent before – Megadestroyer’s surfacing for example. The screen shake there is now immense
‘Natural’ screen shake occurrences are probably accordingly magnified.

Bump on a slightly different related subject
How many of you have noticed connectivity issues while in Southsun during Karka Queen?
Experienced something really odd today – hopped into zone to do the 9:00 scheduled, and was randomly disconnected while doing the Camp Karka pre.
I asked someone who was in map for party and taxi back, only to find people complaining of constant disconnects and severe lag in map.
I dropped an additional two times during the queen fight – as did my entire party at least twice each.
My last disconnect was when queen was at 15% on last health bar – I was dropped all the way to desktop and loader screen. Surprisingly I still got credit for the chest and bonus.
Connectivity was fine before and after, it was only while zoned into that copy of Southsun.

A Charr friend and I got onto the subject of light and medium leggings that cover up most of the upper parts of boots – Much like the light priory leggings I mentioned previously.
It seems that for medium armor wearers, Duelist, Rascal and Marauder pants cover up most of the boots above about the ankles. The Krytan boots for example would lack the bone shingaurds if you wore one of these pants.
Still haven’t looked through all the pants carefully, but it seems that Priory light leggings are the only light pants that do this from a cursory examination.
Would be nice if future leggings took this into consideration. Anyway, just food for thought!
For the toast!
I put together a quick compilation of the relevant lines from Belcher’s Bluff.
For the toast!
Different Belcher’s Bluff signature moves seem to trigger pretty unique dialogue lines, atleast for Charr characters. “Back in my Day” seems to trigger flirty type lines. “Boast” triggers lines I could see being used for a /joke or /silly. “Critique” lines could be used for a /taunt.
Some examples of the lines I’ve heard:
Back in my Day
Female Charr
Who wouldn’t be jealous of me, wouldn’t feel threatened by me?
I know you like what you see…
The only thing better than me, is you and me.
Male Charr
All is fair in love and war…
Love conquers all, sweetheart.
Mm mm mmh, you smell like (battle?)
You. Me. Moonlight. Dining on (raw steer?)
Mmm, you rub my fur the right way.
Boast
Female lines
Give me death, or give me meat.
I’m as Charr as Charr can be. But I just wanna be me.
Wambo wambo woo!
These are my claws. There are many like them, but these are mine. They are my warband, they are my life. I must master them, like I must master life.
And you think it takes YOU a long time to dry your hair…
Male
No plan ever survives contact with an Asura.
I said I’m a vegetarian. And the sylvari… fainted.
Friendly fire is never friendly.
The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
Be professional. Be polite. But plan to kill them anyway.
Ridiculous. Charr would never be silly.
Critique
Female
Is that your backside or your face?
You’re dumber than a herd of humans.
You’re like a morning hairball – everybody hates you.
Look at your frail little body…
Don’t bore me.
I might document the remaining lines, maybe do the ones on my Sylvari next.
For the toast!
(edited by Halcyon.7352)
There are plenty of sparsely used and probably unused voice lines too that would fit new emotes pretty well.
I actually recently decided to embark on a quest to become a master of the Om. I was pleasantly surprised to hear all sorts of new dialogue from my character I’d never heard anywhere before.
I could see some of the lines being used for possible emotes, such as /boast, /flirt, even maybe a /joke or /silly.

You do know that most skills can be manually aimed yes?
Disable autotargeting. Projectile skills can be aimed by holding mouse 2 and mouse looking around, as long as the skill causes your character to turn (or you additionally hold mouse 1), the projectile will travel along the center of the screen. Can of course use this for melee attacks or cleaves too if you briefly tap M1 to turn.
You can supposedly actually achieve extra range with some projectile weapons via aiming manually.
I’d say that some skills practically necessitate this form of aiming, namely flamethrower. Piercing shots are much more effective manually aimed as well.
Never personally heard of ICM, but an auto M2 toggle could be useful for this purpose.
For the toast!
It could be a couple of things.
1. You could actually be getting the kills with your offhand weapon instead of your main hand one.
2. You could be not actually getting credit for kills on the elites or champions, due to either the nature of the event or just the fact that you didn’t do “enough damage”.
3. You could have sigils that are conflicting with eachother.
4. It could just be bugged/broken.
I would wager that the most common cause is #2 here.
Some mobs seem to be ‘summon’ types and grant no XP as previously mentioned.
Also, the amount of damage required may be deceptively high. For the case of champions, if you did enough to qualify for a champ bag, it’ll probably count for a stack.
For the toast!
Very old bug. At least they fixed the other Melandru stall by adding a timer to the defense event, so it can actually fail without player intervention.
I was on a copy of Cursed Shore this morning where it wasn’t bugged – not 12 hours ago, so it’s not bugged on all of them.
For the toast!
Bump.
Not one person apparently had an interrupt ready at Wren waypoint just a bit ago – the result was a pile of dead player bodies both there, and again at the nearest waypoint, as the subjugator continued casting even after several players had respawned nearly halfway across the map.
I had to leave the zone to stop being siphoned off of.
For the toast!
I love charr too. I agree that it’s because they are cat not cat girl/boy like you see a lot of other places. I love that they run on all four paws and that their tails are animated while standing still. My charr almost instantly became my main once I finally made her.
The biggest thing that bothers me with trying to clothe charr is that there are so many skirts and coats…like I want to be running on all fours and have that hanging off my waste to trip over. I’d like to see more pants that are just pants and nothing dangling off them.
I do understand the concern with skirts and coats, hopefully they will come out with more suitable pants in the future haha
Nonsense – It’s totally logical and in no way shape or form annoying that my plethora of skirty pants and oversized coats poof in an exaggerated manner every time I shoot a rifle or fire a bow!
…but yeah, would be really nice to have more pants and especially chests for medium wearers. And I do mean ‘pants’.
For the toast!
Already a similar post recently, both in General and Charr discussion that I’d upvoted. The simple fact of the matter is that Charr have very limited decent looking options for footwear – particularly for light and medium armor classes. Most boots look stretched, blocky and oddly disproportionate. Low level gear is particularly bad – I’d much rather go barefoot than have to wear them.
For now, here are a few of my personal favorite footwear looks for Charr, not all of them necessarily showing paws!
I feel that the Whispers Secret Greaves make for a snazzy alternative for the heavy plate look.
For mediums, Krytan boots make a nice snug form fitting pair. That is, if you can stand the knee bone bit – fortunately the T3 cultural my ranger normally wears obscures most of it.
My least favorite part of the Archon boots (T2 cultural) seems to be hidden under certain pants. Pictured here with Priory light leggings, the ugly blocky upper shin guards are neatly tucked away, making for a nice claw fitting pair of kicks.
As Maria Murtor mentioned, I rather am fond of the cook’s outfit boots too, though it does come with the entire look. Fortunately, I happen to like the look for my new necromancer. Glorious paws!
Tier 1 Invoker’s boots are almost always a solid fallback too!
@Kaaqeli & Maria Murtor: My initial enthusiasm on discovering the Masquerade boots was quickly dashed too upon experimenting with dyes and learning that I could do nothing about the white parts.

Dragonite ore seems to be the most common reason.
Each boss has a guaranteed rare or above daily bonus chest, and the ground chest additionally has a very high chance at rares or above.

I noticed back in the days of 200% MF Secrets of Southsun farming that if you wander far enough into the eastern seas, the framerate magically goes from squat to near perfectly smooth. There’s a similar spot south of the clothing optional beach, near Pearl Islet – and more locations I’m sure.
There’s something towards the center of the island that causes a massive framerate hit, which apparently isn’t rendered if you wander far enough from it.
There are a number of other zones that are similar – Black Citadel for one. I doubt we’ll see any of them fixed anytime soon, unfortunately.
For the toast!
I’m honestly surprised a thread hasn’t been started on this.
The Life Siphon skill on Veteran or above Risen Subjugators is incredibly broken right now.
And with Megaserver upscaling, Champion Subjugators are pretty much instant death machines unless you can get people to CC spam to burn defiant and interrupt.
Oh, and not stand in the literal SEA of wells it summons. Did I mention that not even invulnerability effects block the well’s damage? Yeah…
Life Siphon currently has no apparent range limitation. Once it starts casting, it will begin siphoning anything in range, and will continue to do so even if you die and waypoint.
Champ wraiths can be almost as bad, now that Defiant apparently no longer caps anymore. At least the wraith has a limited range for it’s version…
For the toast!
I disagree.
The game needs more downed-states like Warriors, Guardians, Rangers, Engineers, Necros and less stupid and hard to counter ones like the Thief, Elementalist or Mesmer.
When you go down you should be reliably stomped. Everything else is just dumb.
PvE-wise… Warrior’s Vengeance can be quite effective, and Guardian’s Symbol of Judgement is a nice booster for staying alive, plus both of them have heavy armor to help them keep alive. Ranger’s Lick Wounds is just plain AMAZING, not to mention that you still have your pet in the fight (and can control it), and Necromancer’s Life Leech and Fear are both quite handy for keeping yourself going until you can be rescued, or manage to kill something yourself.
Engineer can yank over one single enemy to ensure a speedy demise, and if they’re lucky enough to last until Booby Trap comes off cooldown, they can launch a couple enemies who’ll just be right back over immediately. You have no form of healing except for the guaranteed-to-be-interrupted Bandage, no form of movement, and a single-target interrupt that puts the enemy exactly where you don’t want them to be. Throw Junk could be pretty neat as a normal attack, but not something to use while you’re rapidly bleeding out.
I’m not a big fan of negatively-charged class changes, so I can’t in good conscience call for every other class to be so brutally neutered to the level of Engineer. I love the Downed state mechanics, that it gives you a fighting chance even after getting blasted… And the thing is, Engineer doesn’t get to participate in that mechanic. There IS no chance if you go down, unless you have allies willing to prioritize your survival above their damage score.
As far as PvP goes, they’re all a little more equal if only because of the fact that inadequacy is inadequacy, regardless of how much worse one class’ inadequacy is compared to another. Ranger’s Downed state is like being a GOD in PvE, but in PvP, only movement can give you a chance thanks to the stomp mechanic. As such, Engineer’s Downed state shortcomings are a good deal less prevalent there. But in PvE, you can do nothing but snivel and sob as you watch your allies use their Downed tricks to recover, your health bar melting away as you sit in a puddle of acid, the monster you pulled over gnawing on your ankle while you sprinkle nuts and bolts on them hoping that one or two have some exceptionally sharp edges. And then you explode. Violently.
Traited Guardian #3 is amazing, it counts as a symbol. I’ve rallied myself and others downed around me off of the healing from this more than a few times.
Ranger’s #3 is pretty fantastic as well, albeit not terribly reliable. My pet managed to get to me despite me having gone down between three Champions and a few elites/vets during an upscaled Jofast and pretty easily revived me.
I think you hit the nail on the head pretty well about the engineer downed skills by comparison.
I mean come on, at the very least make Grappling Line pull ONLY your target, and ignore other targets in the path. At least then we could selectively pull the weakest target in hopes of actually hitting it with Throw Junk to rally.
For the toast!
Okay so this is really odd…
I just tested this two ways:
First test – Jumped off a cliff to my death. Waypointed, used heal skill – no buff. #4 apparently not working.
Second test – Walked up to a champion to let it mow me down. Waypointed. Used heal skill – again no buff. Fought a random mob, after which I used a heal skill again, at which point the buff did appear.
I’d logged to character select between tests 1 and 2. Didn’t shuffle equipment or anything else during test 2.
Why the inconsistency?
Edit: Further testing post death, the buff – and presumably the life leach on attack – DOES sometimes work, but it’s incredibly inconsistent. (Out of six heals, two gave me the buff)
Tested theory to see if it was still functioning but only while in combat – didn’t notice any correlation.
Either way, this is definitely bugged in some fashion, and probably not working as intended.
