Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.
– Unknown Fire Elementalist
I cannot believe I did not notice this lack before. Agreed 110%. Though there is one, the Conquest Hood (Lion Guard tricorn with eye-sash). Obtainable for a paltry few honor tokens if you are high enough level and visit your borderlands armor vendor and look to the final tab.
Yeah… not much for the Paul Revere look. (I guess that’s probably supposed to be a pirate… everything else is in this game).
They’re a couple of the most famous thief/ranger types in literature, yet the Medium Armor professions do not have any “proper” Zorro/Robin Hood type masks. Tons of bandana-styles, but no over-the-eyes styles (unless you want a foofy French party mask).
Forgive the tiny size of the pics, but you can still see what I’m talking about. We need a nice, simple, dyeable mask. Nothing fancy-schmancy; just something in which to be a proper bandit.
I’m getting awfully claustrophobic lately. It seems more crowded than ever these days. Can I get a potion to turn other players (in PvE) invisible? I’d pay handsomely. ANet? …I’m not joking. I want the lower population server back that I signed up for when I created my account. (You can’t spell “Megaserver” without the “grr”).
I’m completely sure they named that whole color theme for me!
I knew it was either that, or the Elementalist Focus weapon skill “Gale”.
Anyone remember Moa Racing? That might not be spending real money, but it certainly came straight out and depicted gambling. Unlike the Black Lion Chests, you didn’t always get something in return for your cash. (This concern was raised back then too, when it was first introduced. I’m sure some people lost their game shirts on it too). Such a thing could feed a real-life gambler’s vice, I suppose. But better game money than real money.
Other things depicted or hinted at in game that are considered “naughty” in some circles: Killing. Theft. Sorcery. Lesbianism. Racial Prejudice. Gluttony. Alcoholism. Take your pick. At the end of the day, this is just a game with an age restriction rating. If you are of the proper age to be playing, it is hoped you can see the difference between a serious real-life issue and a game. It has even been suggested that doing some of these things in a game scenario can be an “outlet” that reduces the desire for doing them in real life.
Many ArenaNet employees have been “immortalized” in the game, either through NPCs, or regions, or even whole servers named after them. I think it would be fun to see a whole listing of these people & places, and have a COLLECTION achievement based upon finding them. For example:
I can see it now: Collection completion reward – the Title “Fan of the Arena”.
The Star Wars saga is coming out with another movie in December 2015. I’d better hear about another Star Trek installment before then, or they’ve lost my loyalty forever!
I don’t appreciate being called a pervert. Perhaps, a -repair of the client would help you.
Good luck.
Sorry. I said that with a winky-smiley in my head. Guess I should’ve put it into my text as well, so you’d know for sure I was making a funny. Here’s the one I owe you:
…and my Male Asura Thief wearing his winter gear and sporting a pair of Royal Ascalonian Daggers. Daggers, I say… not swords!
Here’s my Female Asura Mesmer with normal greatsword, and glitched greatsword that digs its way underground.
It was exactly like this in GW1. I guess I’ve grown accustomed to it and don’t think about it much anymore. Forget that two items are supposedly the same material. It doesn’t matter one iota. Dying has always been inconsistent between different armor pieces in both games. Some dyes are worse than others. (There is a contrast difference too, that is the main difference you get when sorting by material. “Metal” colors have higher contrast).
For best results, use armor pieces from the same “set”. But that doesn’t always guarantee a color match either. It’s a Guild Wars fact of life: different armor pieces dye differently.
I am a die-hard mix ‘n’ matcher. Often, none of the pieces of armor I am wearing are from the same set. The only solution is to get a huge dye collection and do your best with differing dyes. Sometimes, there are looks you just can’t accomplish with a certain color. Many times, a color you would never have considered using looks great on a particular piece.
Conclusion: Get a big dye collection, and try ‘em all, even if the thumbnail color swatch doesn’t look promising. It’s a pain, but I’ve been dealing with it for over 10 years now.

I tried it. No issues, no size-changing of weapons. /shrug
It’s weird. It happens almost every time with my Guardian. After I noticed it on my Engineer as well, it took awhile for it to happen again so I could get the screen shots.
That’s partly why I included Race/Sex/Profession information. The “feet are missing” issue was inconsistent between my various Asura of different sexes and professions. Some had feet showing, others didn’t. This seems to be happening with the same inconsistency.
Were you able to play around with a Female Norn Guardian? (You know what I mean… pervert!)
This bug has been reported and is currently under investigation. Thanks for your reports, everybody.
Mark is with “Community Special Operations”. That sounds like a dark and mysterious branch of “problem-solvers” to me. Your analysis may be spot-on.
But I’ll keep trying. Hell, I still jab at them periodically to do something about restoring Town Clothes in some fashion (as Outfits or armor). I won’t let them sweep their messes completely under the rug! …Unless this CSO branch is a more powerful covert entity than I realize, in which case… (shudder!)
Here are the Cook’s Pants on a Sylvari (pre-April 15th, when we could still mix ‘n’ match).
Has anyone admitted to an April Fool’s Day joke yet? Surely I’m not the only person experiencing this bug? Here’s my Male Asura Engineer sporting a weapon and backpack that are too BIG at first until I click something else. (Notice the tip of the rifle disappearing into the ground?) This has got to be related to the missing feet/resized character repairs.

At last, an efficient way to size weapons for an Asura
Sure thing! Just mail me the items you want resized, and I’ll fix you right up!
My female Norn Guardian seems to have stumbled upon a preview of next year’s April Fools Day joke… the mini weapon set!
When I open my Hero Panel (or any preview window), my weapon and shield are TINY until I make a change of some sort. This has been happening for several days now. (I haven’t really noticed yet whether or not it’s happening on any of my other races/sexes/professions).
On the bright side, at least I can see my feet now.
The targeting system currently is broken, (a few threads here about it). The devs have NOT responded to any of the threads. If they refuse to address and fix the problems with the problems first, how can you expect them to enhance it?
They specialize in enhancing problems! …or isn’t that what you meant?
Yeah, seriously though… they have got to fix targeting. It’s THE number one most important part of the game, and I haven’t even seen an acknowledgement that they know it’s messed up since 9/9.
It’s bad enough that our “nearest enemy” (as it is called in the Control Options) has always included non-enemies (yellow targets, specifically designated as neutral). It should only be targeting red objects, because those are “enemies”. But aside from targeting non-enemies, and regularly targeting things outside my field of view, it also does not seem to care about proximity. I have had instances where it selects targets that are out of range before targets within aggro distance.
Targeting is arguably the most important thing in a game revolving around combat. This needs to be addressed before Guild Halls, the NPE, or anything else currently considered to be a high focus area. This is of much higher importance. And it is totally messed up since 9/9.
I suggested they reinstate the Town Clothes toggle as an Outfit toggle a couple of times myself. I used it a ton with Town Clothes (and even bound the toggle to a mouse button for faster changes). It would still be a good idea for people who like it.
The thing is… I personally find myself never wearing Outfits. The lack of mix ‘n’ match just completely kills it for me; they hold absolutely no appeal. There are many pieces I like from the various Outfits, but there are no Outfits on which I like ALL the pieces. My Gem purchasing record bears this out. I used to be a regular buyer, but I don’t believe I’ve contributed to their coffers once since April 15th. If they would offer them up as armors that I could pick and choose pieces from, then I’d be back throwing money at them in a second.
Without a tail to act as counterweight, a Charr would fall straight forward onto his face. If the tail is NOT to be included in the Outfit, then the only remedy for gravitational mishaps would be to make him headless. This would also engender a greater feeling of Halloween spookiness.
(Headless is cool, but please, ANet… opt for tail inclusion! Perhaps even a “devilish” tail with the little pointy arrowhead-tip.)
If you already have a wings back item (holographic, etc.) it should work with your Outfit.
Have you applied any changes to your armor? (Transmutations OR dyes) As soon as you click APPLY, your mini goes bye-bye. I tweak my dyes a lot, so I’m constantly remembering to go immediately to my Minipets screen after I change my colors. Dunno about finishers. I don’t do WvW, so I have very little use for them. And minis still do not return if (for example) a World Boss event brings in a lot of people and they get removed due to population.
Is there a list of known game issues somewhere? An official acknowledgement that the Devs have confirmed for themselves that something isn’t working as intended? I’m not asking for repair ETAs. But if such a list were easily available to the community, then it might help reduce duplicate posts and people yelling that ANet doesn’t listen. Maybe a sticky at the top of the Bugs Forum?
This should be in this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Issues-with-character-art-weapons-or-armor-2/page/15#post4446478
True. Sadly, I think they have very few people working on armor and weapon model repairs. I have posted there many times, and unless something has been extremely bugged due to an update, it is unlikely to get fixed at all. Quite a few issues have remained unaddressed since the game went live. I figured that posting here I might be able to pick up a little support and make the issue(s) seem a bit more important. (I would think this is a simple adjustment).
Their very first OUTFIT – the Ancestral Outfit – was supposed to be an example to the community who had just lost their Town Clothes. We can make Outfits fast, and without any clipping worries since you aren’t mixing different pieces together! Unfortunately, it DOES clip; the skirt shows through the sash. I entered a bug report immediately with pictures, and other players chimed in their confirmation and support. To this day, that artwork issue remains with what should have been their shining introduction to Outfits.
Smileys, at least, are an example of language evolving to meet new needs, not a step backwards.
I give you this 14, 000 year old cave painting at Scredda, in the south of England.
The fewer animations and emotes we have, the fewer original screenshots I can take where my character isn’t just standing there saying “cheese!” Right now, I can’t duplicate “Peaceful Evening” or “Greeting the Morning Sun” below. (Yeah, I name my screen captures something more than GW001, GW002, etc.)
(A bit of trivia: the bottom picture was resized. It was originally taken 2 years ago during the Betas when we were allowed the option of a super-sized 7680×4320 .BMP screen capture.)
IIRC correctly, the seraph staff sits higher than the golden wing staff even though they both use the same model in game. Only the colour differs between them, yet one will sit higher than the other.
I noticed that too, but didn’t bother showing both since they are both positioned acceptably.
The gnarled walking staff you showed in the picture also sits notoriously low on teh body, or at least it seems that way because the staff is shorter overall.
You think so? It’s been one of my primaries since very early in the game, and I always felt is was just fine. (But then again, I never did like the comically oversized weapon look).
It’s the same with the Pact Quarterstaff.
Yes, yes that one looks a bit high too! I don’t have that skin unlocked, so this screenshot is taken from the Equipment Preview Pane instead of the Wardrobe like my others. (As you can tell since you can see my feet!) Sort of like one of those big fluorescent orange whip antenna flags sometimes used on wheelchairs so you can see them coming in a parking lot.
There have been PLENTY of bug reports about the re-broken targeting since the 9/9 Patch. Have any of them been acknowledged?
And remember like my signature says. Language and text have evolved! No more drawing on cave walls.
Language and text are going backwards. People complain when corrected instead of bettering themselves by learning. And smileys? Isn’t that a step back towards your cave walls and ancient hieroglyphics?
The Chaos Staff sits way too high when stowed away on my back. Compare it to a bunch of other similar-sized staves in the picture. It is the only one that disappears off the top of my screen. And that’s with my feet disappearing off the bottom! Just imagine how for off the top of the preview it will go when they get that bug fixed!
Do you suppose you could take it down a few notches, please?
Arguably THE MOST IMPORTANT part of the game. This deserves PRIORITY REPAIR STATUS.
3 points in tactics gave me 15% boon duration, and both tooltips for skills and actual boon duration were increased by 15%. Were you in a scaled down area?
I was in town (Divinity’s Reach), so I wasn’t scaled down. Problem fixed itself when I restarted the game from scratch. Dunno why it wasn’t working the first time. Thanks.
I tried asking over in the Warrior forums, but it’s pretty dead there. I think most Warrior players must have quit. I am desperately trying to salvage what’s left of mine, and noticed something almost as disturbing as the instantly-disappearing Adrenaline:
Do points in Tactics no longer improve Boon Duration? I have that category at maximum, but my Hero Panel reports I only have +10% Boon Duration. It’s supposed to be +30%, right? (WIKI still reports that, and that article was supposedly last updated only 4 days ago).
Do points in Tactics no longer improve Boon Duration? I have that category at maximum, but my Hero Panel reports I only have +10% Boon Duration. Supposed to be +30%, right? (WIKI still reports that, and that article was supposedly last updated only 4 days ago).
If someone says “maybe this game isn’t for you” and nothing else (except maybe a sneering “Go back to WoW”), they’re probably talking just to hear themselves talk. Those are the annoying ones we can do without.
If they go on to to give serious, thought provoking ideas that may help you, then it can be an acceptable response.
Unfortunately, the forums don’t come with a maturity level filter (aside from the “kitten” filter.) I appreciate the OP’s sentiment, but it takes awhile for some people to grow up. Eventually they will grow up, but until the Human race stops breeding there’ll always be a new crop of immature voices saying the first thing that pops into their heads. Which is usually something they got a chuckle from once and has now been said a million times until it’s just sad. (“You’re leaving? Can I have your stuff?”)
The new Trading Post search box is too short. I type in “Superior Rune of the” … and that’s all that fits. I used to be able to type out the whole name and jump right to the item I wanted quickly with no muss and fuss. There are sloppy ways around this, but it slows things up. It would be nice if we just had as much space to type as we used to.
I only have one last Profession to level up to 80, and that character is frozen in place now at level 36. I won’t touch him until I start seeing people agreeing that overall the Personal Story is working again fairly bug-free. I’m not worried about changes to the story as much as I’m worried about running into bugs and incoherency/inconsistencies in the story. There are whole websites devoted to pointing these things out in movies. People care about it more than you may think.
Even smaller? Even more often?
Not every patch is a whole feature pack.
You’re thinking of the “new builds” I presume. Notice how often we get those after a major change? How long we get them? Those are not the changes I’m talking about. Those are the attempts to fix all the bugs they’ve set in motion by introducing too many variables at once with their big changes.
And that is the POINT here. If you change a whole lot of stuff at once, you don’t know where to begin to troubleshoot. The less you change, the easier it is to find out where the problem lies should bugs occur. It’s simple, sound logic that often gets ignored in these days of multitasking.
Back when I started programing – you know, way back in the punch-card days – we had a rule of thumb for “clean” results. Make a change. Test it. When satisfied everything works properly, then make another change.
I submit to you we need to have smaller patches. These giant “Mega-Pack” additions and changes to the game also come with seemingly infinite new bugs. Headaches for everyone, not just the players.
No need for months of pre-release hype that gets thrown back in your face when the inevitable bugs come out of the woodwork from every direction at once. Nobody likes having a long laundry list of bugs that need to be triaged, because everybody’s bug is the most important one.
Do one thing. Do it right. Test it. Then move on to the next thing. Smaller patches, more often. No fanfare.
EDIT: I said smaller patches in the title. Perhaps it should read “smaller changes” to be more accurate. A patch denotes some kind of fix, and GW2 has called their biggest releases “Feature Patches”. But mostly they are ADDING stuff, not fixing stuff.
Any time they make a change they should test it before making another change. And making dozens of BIG changes all at once results in more hundreds of bugs. Am I the only one who sees this? We’re all living it right now.

I predict “Eau de Clone” will become a very popular perfume among Mesmers.
Avoid the Greatsword skill #4 “Phantasmal Berserker” at all costs. It’s whirling attack throws off the cologne, making it distinguishable from the caster. Then you’re really in the toilet.
For you to engage in a fight with the exact same variables one day and the next is highly unlikely.
Without a change in location there are still other factors.
Who hits first, who hits more, who is closer, who crowd controls more (soft and hard), what crowd controls are applied, and more.
Sure, if you want to get technical. Fine. Not EXACTLY the same. I begin in the same place. ROUGHLY the same time. My opening attack sequence is always the same. Then things can vary.
But please LISTEN to me. Some days no matter what I do my clones/phantasms (whatever) never ever attract any aggro in any fight I get into! It’s as if they don’t exist to the monsters. I could start the fight at maximum range by launching a clone, teleport out of maximum range immediately and STILL those bad guys would give my holograms no attention. This will go on from one fight to the next until I get disgusted and quit that character for the day. Next day everything’s back to normal.
If they stayed this way, I could work with it and alter my strategy to fit. But they don’t. My issue is that monsters change their behavior towards my duplicates from one day to the next. That is the bug I am experiencing.
(edited by Hamfast.8719)
I’d kind of like the freedom to have my posts read correctly, but alas, that isn’t in the cards.
Then please explain yourself; don’t just take an attitude. From what I can tell, you believe that people will flood the Low Pop MegaServer maps for various reasons, turning them into High Pop maps in the process.
That won’t happen, because there is a lower maximum number of players permitted on those maps. As soon as that maximum is hit, new entrants to that map will go onto a different copy. Sure, you will still have more players at the bigger events, but you always did and always will. That’s only natural.
I don’t know what minimum and maximums ANet would use to differentiate between Low, Medium, and High Population MegaServers. I’ll leave that up to them. I’m sure THEY don’t know either. It’s all a guessing game until it goes into practice and they have a chance to tweak those figures to perfection.
Maybe I’m still not seeing your point. If so, please clarify.
Regardless of how different people play their Mesmers – whether or not they want monsters to attack their clones/phantasms/dopplegangers/twin brothers – mine are acting DIFFERENTLY from one day to the next. One day they get attacked by monsters. The next day they are all but invisible. No change in location or circumstances. This is a bug.
Take her in to meet Logan. I understand he’s considered absolutely dreamy.
…unless the game is in such a bad financial shape that the costs have to be cut wherever possible, no matter the impact on the gameplay. In that case, we’re pretty much screwed.
A business doesn’t get out of financial problems by cutting quality.
Here’s my thoughts about a low pop server: especially for Orr, this wouldn’t work. If people could guarantee they’d get to do temple events, they’d flood the low pop servers to do them. You’d also get people going to them to guarantee hits on champs for bags. So, they’re not as low population anymore, are they? Do we then ask for enforced low population servers, where the maximum amount of people allowed is 10-20?
I have no idea what the current minimums/maximums are. It quite possibly varies by zone. Those numbers are quite possibly tweaked periodically. I’m sure they would do the same under a Population Choice MegaServer.
Some of you say the MegaServer is fine RIGHT NOW. You have no problems with Zergs and “tagging” for event credit. A High Population MegaServer would be no problem for you. So why would you join a low pop server that takes more time and work to get your reward? I don’t see your scenario as a problem.
If Orr is too hard for you in Low Pop, then bump yourself up. If Zergs make everything a boring, unrewarding cakewalk, drop to a lower population MegaServer.
This is all about FREEDOM OF CHOICE. How can you be against that? Everyone gets to decide what works best for themselves.
Simple solution.
Have 3 tiers of MegaServers: Low Pop, Medium Pop, and High Pop. Each has appropriate maximum and minimum populations.
Let us CHOOSE the amount of crowding we like in our OPTIONS, and be able to change it at will. Perhaps some people prefer lower populations in the Open World for more challenge, but when Tequatl is due they can change to a High Pop Megaserver before they waypoint to Sparkfly Swamp.
Then when the 1 hour clock comes up, it might be less objectionable for people if they know they will still be transferring to a map of the population size they prefer. I think this would be a nice compromise between the old specific server maps and the new one-map-for-everyone MegaServered maps.
Think about it: the very first question you have to answer when you install the game is WHAT SIZE SERVER WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN? Obviously, ANet knows that different people have different preferences. They give us the choice, but then turn around and take it right away from us with the MegaServer. Please Institute Population Choice MegaServers and give us back the freedom to decide for ourselves!
No contest: my Dragon Emblem T-Shirt won as a prize during Pink Day in LA. (An in-game item that is a T-Shirt with the GW2 Dragon Logo on it). It garnered more attention than a Legendary Weapon, and was far more rare. Now it is a horribly matched full set of clothing in TONIC form that embarrasses me to wear (it has been paired with bright red boots now). If they would at least turn those Tonics into Outfits, then I could salvage something of it with a little dye.
Hey, Tyria has a Hooters.
It’s called “Two-Ters” … delightfully tacky, yet unrefined. Worked there for only a few months, then got fired when ANet took my work uniform away. I’d do anything to get it back.
