Lemme fix that:
[Champion Mordrem Scarlet]
“Kamadan And Southern-Most Elonian Expanse Rescue Missions”
You forgot word Rescue.
Doh! I was working so hard to be clever, I forgot how to spell. You’re right. The Kamadan And Southern-Most Elonian Expanse Regions. How about that? Or maybe Kaineng needs to be in there?
Kids like their toys big and flashy.
Big and flashy earn gems.
Gems earn money.
Not gonna change.
We aren’t all kids. (The game is supposed to be 13+)
Kids grow up. They won’t always be kids.
Kids don’t have money.
Kids don’t always get what they want.
Us money-slingers are only asking for a FEW sets of realistic-sized gear. Not even equal time. Just a few. That can happen.
EDIT: Flashy is the nook filled by Legendary weapons. We never said anything about flashy, just oversized. Realistic sized weapons can be just as flashy.
(edited by Hamfast.8719)
Kasmeer is a fair possibility. Both characters were involved in a love story. Both are growing up before our eyes. And (unless I skimmed over it) I can’t believe nobody has pointed out that they’re both Mesmers, although that has nothing to do with being a “transcendent figure”.
The proof will come when ANet releases a GW2 expansion. In GW1, they gave us “Eye of the North”, which (intentionally or not) was referred to as “GW:EN”. If Guild Wars 2 releases an expansion called the “Kamadan And Southern-Most Elonian Expanse Missions” then we will know for certain.
I have a Lion Cub minipet. If I could get him to eat his Wheaties, I’d give him to my Ranger.
I was actually going to THANK ANet for the Chaos weapons, because (for the most part) they aren’t as comically huge as most of their other offerings. (Yes, they are still unrealistic. But at least you can’t surf on the greatsword). Do you reckon Freud would think that some players’ desire for big weapons is compensation for a lack of something else?
I am all for more realism in my fantasy. (Yeah, that sounds weird to me too). The comical, cartoony look of WoW is a major reason why I was never interested in trying it out.
They can cut back the SHOULDER ARMOR and GAUNTLETS to realistic size as well, and I will buy more of them.
I would prefer it if the flag and sparkles disappeared when you remove the HUD, so you can get unobstructed screen captures in that place of beauty.
Profits at this point are based on store sales, not copies sold. Rentention for new players doesn’t figure greatly into that short term, only long term.
Makes you kinda scratch your head and wonder why they devastated the RP crowd, eh? You know… the guys who buy all the Town Clothes and extra storage (to hold their Town Clothes) and character slots, etc… Now they think they can placate them with one-size-fits-all Outfits.
Don’t you remember all the threads about dead zones. How does that encourage people to stay?
All those threads made by how many people?
50? 100? How many are posting over and over again (including me). We know not only from experience but from as an actual fact that forum users don’t represent the bulk of the player base, pretty much ever.
And now all those threads about dead zones have been replaced by threads about overcrowded events.
It was simply too close to launch in China to be coincidence.
That must be it. They were simply making their new Chinese customers feel at home by cramming a huge population into one big zone.
Anet’s communication is terrible, plain and simple. It’s by far the worst thing they do.
Agreed, 100%. Admittedly, many posters are/were childish in their behavior. But that’s why we have Moderators. They are the babysitters that keep the children under control and report to the game developers (our parents). But when the game developers stop communicating with us, it’s like our parents left us with the babysitter and never came home. Recriminations abound as to why they abandoned us, and it’s nothing but ugliness.
GOOD COMMUNICATION is the foundation of a strong relationship. That’s the first rule of a successful business, and a darned important rule of life. Such an easy thing to do, but without it the relationship slowly disappears. The silent treatment, combined with the current mad rush of marketing, indicates they are more interested in a short term relationship with us than a long term one. If someday they decide they want customers to remain customers, the parents need to come home and let their children know they still love them.
Thank you. In gratitude, I give you the result of a theory I tested: you can simply type “/ip” and get the same result.
Not having to type the word “address” should extend the projected life of your A, S, and D keys which gamers need so desperately.
I said it would make as many players happy as possible. Nobody can make everyone happy. But 50 pages of heated argument would seem to indicate the MegaServer isn’t the road to Utopia.
The solution:
1) Kill the Megaserver, and reinstate individual servers.
2) Give everyone 3 free server transfers per year.
This restores server loyalty. This restores seeing people you recognize. This restores the ability to see contested/uncontested waypoints, as well as the location dots of party members in other zones.
They need to post much more accurate accounts of how populous each server is. People will be able to freely choose just how crowded they like to feel in their game. If you want lots of people around for zergs and dragon fights, find a high population server. If you want more challenging fights, and peace and quiet, find a low population server. If you change your mind, freely move to the server size of your choice! Everybody wins, and nobody is permanently locked into a choice that may turn out to be what they didn’t want after all.
That’s your simplest route to making as many players happy as possible. Give us free choice, and the ability to change our minds.
You can use the /bug command. Give any info you can about what’s happened and what caused the event to bug.
Thank you… I’ve reported many bugs before. Now I’m curious how to know what server I’ve been placed into since I always used to include that information in my reports.
/ipaddress from the chat line? Gives me “Unknown command”.
I added -maploadinfo and I’m not seeing anything in plain English that says “Jade Quarry” or “Yak’s Bend” or anything else. But it DOES give me a good idea of how the loading is progressing! (I hate the looping “please wait” circle. It tells you absolutely nothing. They should never have replaced the old progress bar.)
Anyhoo… am I missing something? Do I need to type /ipaddress someplace other than chat? Does one of those many lines of info provided by -maploadinfo tell me what server I’m being shunted into?
Now that we’ve been MegaServed, how do I report a bugged event? I used to think that telling them what server I was on was important to help them locate and fix the issue. But now I never have any idea what server I am on.
When I use the in-game bug report tool, does it detect and include that info for them automatically? Is there a way I can see what server I am on? Or does it not really matter after all?
Thanks so much! It was a great relief to come home to a little good news. (Been a difficult day… my Uncle was just diagnosed with kidney failure and moved into Hospice at the hospital.) I will see if I can tempt my brother to join the GW2 community, and failing that I have a few other possibilities in mind for that account. Love your contests, Lilith, and I loved all the pictures that everyone else submitted. Thanks again!
Still busted after 3 weeks and numerous build updates. Can we at least get confirmation that the programmers are aware of this? There are at least 2 other threads on this I’ve seen. It should be a pretty simple fix.
Breanna Banana is at home in the Magical Grove where heart stopping beauty radiates from within to calm the spirit.
Thank you for the contest, Lilith! I’d love to get my brother to leave “that other” MMORPG And even if my taste in fashion doesn’t coincide with yours, I hope you still enjoy the pictures as a taste of the beauty of Tyria!
Bubbles proves that Wintersday is the warmest time of the year, as she invites you to Festive Lion’s Arch with a big Wintersday Welcome. The magic will return!
Images of Robin Hood come to mind as Bubbles keeps lookout in the outfit of a Sherwood Sentry.
Okay, this is probably not your high-fashion pick, but I still love it. Bubbles has many memories of the Lion’s Arch harbor before Scarlet, and recalls fondly the many times she went Swimming with the Whales.
Bubbles’ heart races as she tiptoes through the graveyard at midnight. She wishes she were a Necromancer while she makes this Creepy Crossing.
Poor, but pretty. Bubbles is The Farmer’s Daughter. (I miss my Town Clothes! Sniffle!)
Bubbles is the hostess with the mostess as she welcomes you to a party at the Mansion. (You can see I’ve gone through a lot of Hairstyle Kits).
Here’s Bubbles as a druidess in Witchmire Swamp.
You said we could Photoshop. And a bikini contest is the essence of fashion. Here’s Bubbles as the Maid of the Mist in a setting that is tres tranquil!
Halloween will be upon us before you know it! Here’s Bubbles dressed up as a Demoness.
Here’s Bubbles on her vacation at a Beach Resort. Just a simple skirt dyed to match her undies, but it makes for a fashionable shot and a scene that makes you wish you were there too! (From the opening of Southsun way back when… note Lord Farin and Kasmeer in the background).
Fashion is as you perceive it, so I’m gonna post a nice variety for you. That way something is bound to catch your eye. If you’re looking for pretty backgrounds, then I think most of mine could win a spot on your desktop. I try to combine background with appropriate outfits and poses to create a picture that tells a tale. You’re going to see a lot of Bubbles Powderpuff, since she is easily my most fashion-crazy character.
Here she is in one of her more “high fashion” outfits, as The Sorceress of Griffonrook
Another Feature Pack already? I haven’t recovered from the first one yet!
I was under the impression that it was supposed to be their “Birthday Celebration” break. If they’re taking a couple weeks off for that, then they must have something in mind for us. (After all, not eveyone’s characters were created on GW2’s birthday, so not everyone will be getting presents at this time.) I suspect some light-hearted quests for miscellaneous birthday rewards available to all.
And I could be wrong.
I never saw “mid-season” myself, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re exactly halfway finished. (I hope).
Please remember, folks… this is not intended as yet another “wish list” thread. Try to post only stuff that (as far as any of us non-game programmers know) would seem to be Super Easy Peasy to do. Super Adventure Box came about from one of their guys just mucking around for fun in his free time. Perhaps someone will eyeball your suggestion and say “Hey… I can do that this afternoon on my coffee break!”
This has GOT to be a super-duper easy fix: Correct the Airship Helmsman so that when you click to travel to The Black Citadel you go to The Black Citadel and not Lion’s Arch.
If the Devs change the acquisition of Crafted items, then they must change the acquisition of Dungeon items, as well, for all those that don’t care to run Dungeons. And every other type of content-specific item.
Cool! Let’s do it!
(Actually, I’m not the one to confirm this, but I read a forum post that seemed to suggest you can get Dungeon gear from PvP these days?)
Truth be told, no matter which side of this issue you’re on, nobody can say for certain whether more people love the MegaServer, or more people hate it.
Different people like different things. Some people prefer a larger server population, and others prefer a smaller server population. Towards that end, we were allowed to choose a server during account creation based solely upon the criteria of population density. So obviously ANet recognizes that different folks have different preferences along those lines. People could belong to a community that was as packed or desolate as they wanted.
Along came the Megaserver, and now everyone is forced into a super-high population area. Our personal preference has been stripped away. And there seems to be a stance against going back to personal choice (but you can never tell, since ANet is mum these days).
What they need to do is revert to the old multi-server system, and give FREE server transfers every so often, so that people can gravitate towards a population size that they are comfortable with. And perhaps even unlimited Guesting as well. The point is, we should be able to go where we want to, and play where we want to. (Much like the suggestion that GW2 adapt a GW1-like Districting system).
Wouldn’t that make everyone happy again? Let us play where WE decide to play, but give us the freedom to change our minds every now and then? It beats the heck out of locking us all into the same cell.
Yeah, I thought so… this is probably your man:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_credits#Quality_Assurance_Leads
Do you suppose Evan has asthma? During the Scarlet invasion of LA, all I heard was people yelling “my asthma!”
I also detest crafting and can’t fathom it at all without an online cheat-sheet to follow. I was discussing this with a Guildie the other day who could craft Noah’s Ark if she put her mind to it. She said that after all the work she spends making Ascended items, she’d feel cheated if we could get them in some other way. But what about how I feel? I feel cheated that I can’t get Ascended items at all right now! (And no, I am NOT prepared to wait 1000 years for Fractals or Boss RNG drops to get a full set of a specific look/stats).
For those of us with no crafting skill (or inclination… it’s boring!) I would love to see other ways of obtaining Ascendeds. Laurels+Ectos at the Laurel Merchant? Reward for completing some elaborate, difficult course of action? Or yes, buying them from other players. Something other than crafting, PLEASE!
WIKI says nothing. Dumb guess: Named for a real-life GW2 team member perhaps? GW1 did that a lot. Are the game credits listed anyplace? (I don’t wanna kill Zhaitan again just to check out a hunch).
shakes head I still see there will be more problems staying in character such as completing a map and moving on to another map. That would throw RPing out the window. And finding a reason to go after a Vista might sound easy to you but its kinda a lame reason to say “Oh look a nice place to see a view.” its just not something I would see as fun…kinda repetitive and going after POI’s would ruin RP too. What RP reason would I have to find that many places? I would have to see how people do it…but I am not on Tarnished Coast server and never seen anyone in black gate RP they just play the game.
Usually when I get a game I just play the game its hard to believe anyone can Role Play in a game that is suppose to be played and not standing around wasting the 60 bucks RPing…if I wanted to do that I would as I said go to Second Life for the day and RP there where I am not playing a MMO. Just RPing in a 3D world.
Keep the two play styles separate if you need to. Work to get your Hearts and POIs and skill points in one session, then role play in another session and don’t worry about accomplishing game objectives during this period.
Some day you will have 100% map completion, and you won’t have those pesky Vistas and Skill Points to distract you. And you’ll wonder what to do next. RP is a great way to keep the game entertaining long after the game itself has stopped entertaining you. Your “3D world” has limits to what it can provide, and people cry out for “endgame” activities to keep them interested. Your RP world only ends when you decide for yourself that you want it to end.
Role players can milk life out of a game long after people say it is “dead”. (It sorta makes you wonder why ANet put the hammer down on them so heavily on April 15th. RPers are some of the most loyal gamers, and generally spend a lot in the pursuit their “craft”.)
Cursor visibilty options.
And TEXT, while you’re at it! (Size, colors, etc.)
Some bugs should be super easy to fix, but have gone unaddressed for a long time. Certain tiny quality-of-life changes have been long suggested, but never implemented.
Admittedly, we aren’t all programmers, so we don’t really know if something would be super easy to do or not. But if it seems like it should be something that they should be able to make happen without much effort, then list it here!
Let’s make a compilation for the programmers all in one place of the little stuff we’ve been dying to see taken care of.
__________________________________________________
What other things can you think of that should be SUPER EASY to fix/change?
Guess I would not know the first thing about trying to RP in a game…..I thought the game was made to play not stand around talking back and forth…if I wanted to do that I would go in a chat RP not waste 60 bucks to stand around in a game I am suppose to be playing. Guess I do not understand….I have RPed for going on hmmm 20 years and I have only done it in Chats not in MMO’s or games like this always just played games.
A “chat” role playing game would be like reading a book; more imagination involved, but less physical activity. GW2 as you perceive it is more like a movie; the characters do their thing without a lot of thinking involved. (You’ve seen all the “press 1 to win, zerg everything” posts ).
But this is neither a book nor a movie; it is a computer game, and that means we can fully interact. Role players are getting more out of their game than the 60 bucks they paid. They get lively, thought-provoking interaction and they can go out and kill the ravaging Troll that’s been raiding the villager’s crops. You should try it some time. I feel sorry for the griefers and trolls who can’t seem to get either kind of satisfaction from their game, and can only find brief amusement in it by trying to bully the folks that are having fun.
In the Human instance, one of the new harvestable trees is blocked in another manner… you don’t have to go waaaaay out of your way to get it, but it us sitting practically right on top of the Krait Obelisk. (Almost as annoying as NPCs standing near a banker… you often interact with the wrong thing because they are in such close proximity).
Here’s an old, OLD idea I came up with that was originally based on Town Clothes, but could be changed to operate as Costume Brawl Tonics instead. Yeah, I would buy these! It would certainly liven up the towns again.
More fun stuff, ANet! Gimme toys!
blinks and reads a second time Ummmm this is a Multiplayer RPG You are Role Playing what seems to be the problem? Are there actually people who forget the playing of the game and actually act out their characters. Thats new to me in a MMO thought people just played the game not made it out to be a chat RPG. I am lost how anyone could actually Role Play in a Game and just forget its a RPG game. Just play the game thats Role Playing cause thats the type of game it is.
“Just playing the game” is not role playing. Running around and helping kill monsters for NPCs is not role playing. You aren’t playing a role (except possibly in your own head) if you don’t chat in character with others. This has been done for many, many years. It’s surprising to find someone who is unaware of it.
The OPs difficulty is that some griefers/trolls/bad guys get their kicks from trying to interrupt RP sessions. This is quite common, actually, which is a shame. It is much harder to create (freeform roleplay) than it is to destroy (grief the participants). But children will be children.
By the way, a big THANK YOU! to the Forum Moderator who un-hijacked this thread!
Outfits do have some benefits, the best of which is they’re easy. Easy to make, easy to equip.
Town Clothes were EASIER to equip than Outfits currently are. You could keybind them to toggle on/off instantly with the click of a single button. Something they REALLY need to do with Outfits.
As for easy to make, I can’t speak for that. But it should be REALLY easy to make outfits using already existing pieces and parts, one would think, as I am suggesting in my original post. (They’ve already done it several times. The problem is that they designated the resulting costumes to be TONICS instead of Outfits.)
(edited by Hamfast.8719)
If you mean “fixed” as in “spayed” or “neutered”, then LA is already fixed.
The Living Story is now re-playable anytime. Unless this changes, I can’t think of how they could have something on the scale of a Tequatl fight. It’s gonna be a 5 man party at most, plus possible NPCs. (And I wouldn’t want to have to wait for a Tequatl-sized group to gather before I could wind up my Living Story.)
Maybe we could take on Mordremoth the way the Order of Whispers (supposedly) likes to tackle dragons… we find a way to put him back to sleep! Ooh! Aah! Those Order of Whispers guys probably throw some wild parties!
