Oh, this topic again.
Why instead of whining don’t you take time to actually learn your class? Every of them has a way to counter stealth with a weapon set or another.

Really want that staff.

If all of this lead-up is to just pull, “April Fools! You didn’t really think we’d add a fun mini-game, did you?” I will be very disappointed.

That wouldn’t be funny. Just cruel.

No, I bet it’s gonna be “April Fools! You really didn’t think we’d give you those weapons for a mini-game, did you? They’re all obtainable from the Black Lion Chests though!”

I just hope it’s not like Griffonrook Run. I’m never doing that again.

Actually, the guy who was designing a new very difficult platforming thing, said it would be like a game within a game, and that all character models would be the same. So I don’t think you have to worry about charrs and norns and the like.

If that’s true then I bet we’re going to control golems or similar in some kind of miniaturized environment ala diorama.

Well, I’m hoping for the guys at Arenanet to open their eyes and see the frustration they’re bringing to the players with such methods, enough for some to even turn them away from the game.

Really, devs, is this your idea of management of a MMORPG? I know you need money to keep the service up and going and all, so the cash shop is completely plausible… but look, the player base of this game doesn’t seem to like to gamble that much. And in truth you are making this all look like you’re just preying on people affected by problem gambling.

There are many ways to gain income without making customers feel like being scammed, and some of them have also been proposed in this topic.

Opened 43 chest and got my token. Also got charr backpiece an pink quaggan. Ihope they keep these fused tokens in the chest. Something this good should be hard to obtain and give the player a sense of joy and relief when they finally get one.

To answer this I’ll take a quote straight from the male Thief with pistols summoned by Thieves Guild:

Hahaha! You’re kidding right?

I don’t know if I really will keep playing GW2, considering the road Anet is going.
It’s really getting a pay-to-win game. Yes I know you don’t need the skins as they wont improve your stats or anything, but frank an MMO is about getting new gear and style items. But hey I need to invest real money for that..

Seriously?

Actually, it’s getting more down to something like “pay-to-look the way you want or be stuck with what you casually get”

I don’t understand.. i think A.Net would make more money if they just made the skins available in the gem store. I would pay like 20 dollars for a skin or two, but I’m not going to gamble when I had no luck with skins in chests during any of the other holiday/events. :\

Please consider putting these skins in the gem store, even if it’s a high cost, thanks!

They had the Halloween Skins in the chest exclusively (as well as TP sell-able), and the Wintersday ones in the gem store.

I’d wager that they made more money on making them BLC exclusive. Otherwise they’d have made it so it was like the Wintersday weapons.

Of course they did, but mostly because the Wintersday gem store weapons literally paled in comparison to the Halloween ones.
If Halloween weapons had been buyable I’m sure they could have made more out of them.

I have to say I’m one of those against it, and I don’t even play guardian or elementalist.
I’m alright with boon stripping skills, like we have in most other MMORPGs.
But whenever it goes into the field of “added damage received for every boon” and such, then it becomes a load of bullcrap. It would make people actually not wanting to get buffed, which is really nonsensical.

You realize that this is probably more of a giant gold sink than a cash grab?

I’m sure a ton of people are spending a lot of real money to get those keys, but I’m sure there are a lot more that are using the gold to gem exchange to buy the keys instead.

Either way, it’s good for ANET. Either they make some quick cash from the gem store, or they get rid of a ton of gold from the game.

Perhaps it is a good gold sink for farmers, but it hurts casual and slightly less casual players who do not want to spend real money on lottery tickets on a game they can play only on the perhaps short free time they have.

Imho, adding this kind of stuff to the BLCs is a terribad idea.
Arenanet should add the tickets as guaranteed single purchases from the Gem Shop for like 400 gems each instead. Many people do not like to gamble and will just not buy keys for something that has a near non-existant chance to drop.

Hermes.7014

With my yesterday’s experience with WvW I had another unpleasant encounter with hackers of different types. From those moving faster than with a swiftness boon in a “lagging” manner, to others attacking at a speed akin to the quickness boon without actually having the boon on themselves.

What puzzles me is that I reported these guys several times in the past months, yet I always see them in WvW whenever the servers are pit against each other. I can’t tell their account name through WvW, but same armor and weapons, same race, same class, same hairstyle make it seem pretty obvious that they’re the same players to me.

Now I don’t know what’s the reason behind them still not being banned, but if through the logs the proof of their hacking can’t be collected then WvW probably needs GMs.

Increase Great Jungle Wurm's HP

in Suggestions

Posted by: Hermes.7014

Hermes.7014

With the recent large income of players doing low level events this one has become much pretty much of an annoyance to do.
Many times, due to culling issues depending on how many players are in the surroundings, the boss dies even before it can finish its spawning animation and many end up without even having a chance to hit it.

This is why I’m suggesting to exponentially increase the wurm’s HP so that it doesn’t fall in less than an half second.

Guesting and Overflow [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hermes.7014

Hermes.7014

Overflow is just a symptom. The whole problem is caused chiefly by people abusing the predictable timers of bosses, using third party websites to calculate the next spawn time. Predictability + better loot = overcrowding => overflow. Whole crowds of people appear out of thin air and camp the spawn point right before the spawn window opens; and even if you are crafty enough to avoid the overflow, the fight is over so fast you may be lucky to get your participation registered at all.

I’d say, just randomize the spawning times and make them less often. Bosses should be a rare encounter anyway… something you stumble upon by random, not something you camp and gank bi-hourly. I remember when Behemoth was bugged on our server, appearing like twice a month or so… but when he finally appeared, it was THE event. Today, though? Just a generic loot piñata that appears once every two and half hours.

Random spawn timers? You really want people to camp the places all day so that they can obtain a some yellow drop? No thanks. I’ve had enough of camping mob spawns in FFXI, and that was the most annoying, frustrating thing I’ve ever experienced in a game.

Limit the world chest to 1 per day per character regardless of server. Boom, solved because people won’t go guest to kill a world boss if they get no loot for it. This makes it so people only guest to play with their friends on other servers and not doing it just for the loot.

I’m pretty sure they already did that. It was possible for like a day or two and then they took it out.

Yet that seems to be the best solution.

I’m lost now. How can it be the best solution if it’s already implemented and didn’t work?

Read again the post by Arisal that you quoted. That is the solution I was talking about. You said they took it out because it didn’t work, well, if it didn’t work to begin with then the developers must have done something wrong.
It can’t be that hard to put an all-servers global “chest already looted” marker on a character.

If character Tom has already looted from Tequatl’s chest on his home server, he shouldn’t be able to do it again on a guest server for the rest of the day.

Hermes.7014

And while the Dragons threat is a big one and they should want to help their devotes, maybe they have something big to fight in their own realm.

We know that Jormag is interested on the Mists, so there is the possibility of other dragons being interested on that too so maybe the gods are trying to content them from the other side right now.

  1. Menzies.
  2. Dhuum.
  3. Mist Wars (origin unknown! I suspect Menzies and Dhuum are tied to it)
  4. Jormag in the Mists – and possibly Kralkatorrik given location, hell even some Risen may have gotten there.

Plenty of threats.

It’s also possible that Melandru and Lyssa are dead. The Risen High Priestess of Lyssa and the Risen Priestesses of Lyssa both proclaim that Zhaitan has devoured Lyssa (and will eat other gods). Melandru is heavily implied to be one and the same with Mellaggan, and the quaggan say that she was killed by the krait when they fled from the depths.

The risen priests/priestesses throughout Orr (both temple ones and the High ones in the seer path of Arah) have interesting reactions to their respective gods: Grenth is full of lies, Lyssa is dead, Dwayna still blesses her priestesses, Balthazar’s ignored completely (e.g., not mentioned); though I’m unsure of how Melandru’s treated by the temple’s priest.

Wait, the Risen Priestess of Lyssa doesn’t specify that Zhaitan devoured Lyssa. Actually, she says the he devoured all gods: “Zhaitan will devour you, just as he devoured our gods.”

Disagree with new Chest Loot

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hermes.7014

Hermes.7014

Totally disagree with nerfing the drop rate. Maybe limit it to one chest per account, but no nerfing the chests. Once you do that then the temples in Orr will go back to never being open again….

I don’t agree on the “one chest per account either”.
If lag during group events is what the problem is and it is actually related to guesting, then a possible solution to this is to keep the limit chest loot per character, but with effect on all servers and overflows.
In lesser words, limit chest loot to once per character on every server. This means that if characters Tom, kitten and Harry have looted from Behemoth’s chest, and from Elona Reach they guest to Desolation to defeat the boss a second time, they wouldn’t be able to loot the chest there again.
And this should solve the issues with world bosses and guesting.

Latest patch, what is with the rage?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Hermes.7014

Hermes.7014

Its simple, they nerfed a lot of things that made certain builds viable, and now they are no longer able to sustain. This leaves a bad taste in many mouths since those classes above didn’t really get anything to compensate for it, and some of those classes have no bunker builds to keep that sustain they want.

Basicly the developers did exactly what they said they wouldn’t do, change things quickly, it left a lot of bad taste in many players mouths and they simply do not wish to play anymore, or do anything besides the daily and the world events. They still like the game, but really… they broke things and can’t take it back now, they just have to fix it, or give up on the game.

If this is about omnomberry pies, the nerf was much needed and perhaps one of the few I ever agree with. No glass cannon build should have the same sustainability as a bunker.

Thieves can still break aggro with stealth (I tried it myself). Just that enemies do it a tiny bit later. Inconvenient yes, but following it up with a dodge usually works.

Not really. All it does is “pause” aggro. Once you reappear the mob will instantly run at you, even if you’ve blocked the line of sight, unless you are already out of its travel limit (or however is called the maximum distance the mob can walk from its spawn location before resetting).

With the new “once a day lootable chests” I expected all of them to be upgraded in drop rates. Yet it seems that the chest appearing at the end of the Megadestroyer event still hasn’t been upgraded, as today I have received exactly 4 items, 3 of them were Fine and one Masterwork. It appears also it wasn’t just me but the majority of the people who participated to the event.

Other players also reported that chest that appears after defeating the Champion Risen High Wizard in Cursed Shore does still provide less than worthy loot for such lengthy events.

I thought thieves were asking for stealth not to cause mobs to fully heal. If you don’t want that, it seems logical that you must accept this change. Seems like a l2p issue.

Well, maybe the bad ones were asking for it.
I played thief from the start and it were never an issue. One can not expect to hide for ten seconds and go back in combat again like nothing happenned. It was fine, seems way off to me now.
It doesn’t really make sense that an aggressive foe is able to “spot” you from an increased distance, in a direction where it can’t see you, just because you have hit/aggro it previously.
Someone stab you and vanish, he goes hide himself 10 meters away behind a wall (no line of sight), and at the second he appears, you know where he is ?
