Second, who was the brilliant mind behind setting effigies on fire by dancing? How exactly does that work? Are we droppin’ it like it was hot, only literally? Is this some ancient Sylvari magic that causes wood to combust through a formerly secretly ritual? (and yes, I’m intentionally putting ancient and Sylvari together because it makes as much sense as anything else to do with effigies.)
Disco Inferno!
The dance is a secret summoning.
HAHAHAHA Kuma-mon. LOVE IT!!!!
If I have three phantasms out which I usually do while attack a tower that is 4 targets that have very high toughness and very high power with a retaliation hit hitting for about 390 damage. 390 * 5 targets * 5 times per target = 9750 damage in a very short amount of time. Then there is the massive amounts of reflections I can put up as well. It isn’t the only thing that kills them but it is a major factor.
25 Rich got 1 ticket
~1,500 normal got 1 ticket.
Said earlier in this post that most MMO’s will go to this kind of buy for upgrades and not monthly because monthly don’t last long. That is just so long. FFXI is still going strong and with XIV around the corner the anticipation is killing me. WoW is still pretty strong as well. ACTUALLY, if you look at those two companies their devs don’t screw them over and when a bug happens it is fixed in a week and not half a year and they don’t usually break anything every update. SO, I disagree. lol
Plus at least in FFXI there is 24/7 GMs that constantly monitor and respond in game to reports and glitches and troubles you may have. Unlike Anet who just do emails.
(edited by Hexxen.7216)
ANET is a business, people are stupid. Dangerous for the people when those two facts collide
Only think I can think of is how fast I eat LB Rangers and I assume other people who run heavy retaliation based builds also do as well. SB rangers also have to watch their auto attack on me because it hit fast and weak.
I have disagreed with the devs a lot on their “fixes” to various jobs and stuff but this out right makes me angry. That was the worst (probably about 3 hrs) of the game I have ever done and now it means kitten.
I stopped counting after a few but anyone else notice how many times the people fightin for nerfs keep comparing Shatter with Glass Cannon Builds saying that we can survive with shatter builds but other glass cannons can’t. Any of the other Mesmers out there even look at shatter as our glass cannon spec?
Shatter builds are built for mobility. They are not glass cannons. This comparison proves you have no idea what you are talking about.
Intelligence rules all. Our intellectual power is so much greater than the other races they are of course jealous of it. Excellence breeds envy after all.
Besides, once these dragons are taken care of we will take over the world like we planed to in the start after being forced out of the earth. Just look at it this way, all other races have a substantial weakness that is easily taken advantage of.
Sylvari: Walking, talking trees. The most basic of elements will set them and their precious tree a blaze in a glorious flash.
Charr: Walking, talking cats with bull horns. What is every cats favorite thing? A bit of poisoned catnip will see our conquest complete without having to deal with those troublesome war “machines” that they love to build. Not that our far superior golemancy couldn’t make short work of them but why bother with the big guns.
Norns: Don’t even make me laugh. These imbeciles are hardly even worth our time to destroy. Everyone knows brains beats brawn every time. Add on to that their repulsive addiction to liquor and we can just get them drunk and slit their throats while they are passed out.
Humans: A race full of unwarranted arrogance and a constant insatiable thirst for power. Some well placed espionage and rumor spreading and they will destroy themselves from the inside and then our golems can sweep up the rest.
Then finally there is the inquest. All Asurans know that they are actually working with us by getting us inside information on how these dragons are so powerful so we can utilize that same power. Our fights back and forth are simply for show to the other races so they don’t suspect.
Please, do not worry yourself with these races, they won’t be around much longer.

Even with condition duration from lyssa and the fear increase trait your fears will last less than 2 seconds. Since you take all three corruption traits I would think traiting into Corruption CD Reduction instead of Terror would be much more effective. How are you going on without any stunbreakers as well?
Third, can iBeserker hit every target inside the swing circle (let’s say he’s running through a zerg) or is there a maximum number of hits he can do on a pass. The possibility of doing 7 or 8 hits, for example, needs to be factored into his value.
I know you want a dec to answer but they wont so. I dont have screen shots but I have noticed that izerker does indeed hit more than 5 targets in one attack swing. Now this is based of of PvE when mobs are stacked. It could be that he can hit 5 mobs person circle thing like showed in that picture or it could be that he hits everything. Either way when the mobs are stacked up my iZerker does his job pretty darn good.
Those did have some odd moments but most of the time the phantasm did its attack and got 2 hits though weak ones and then was out of range for the rest. I am not saying I don’t want to see something done cause I agree it is a bit weak but I don’t think it is a bug and Anet just kinda sucks at balancing.
@garr. I’m in T1 and it gets used quite a bit in WvW and in PVP. Not sure what server you’re on.
U can be in any server, but looks like u are newbie in GW2 =)
And yes, almost all mesmers will agree that Moa will be removed and switched to some mass pvp skill or phantasm or even powerfull mantra.
I definitely not a noob. I’m been playing GW2 on SOR server since release. I roam quite a bit picking off the tail end of zergs and engaging numbers greater than our size. I also PVP quite a bit. Yes MOA gets used on us alot. I guess when you can’t beat someone fairly you resort to moa.
Those of you saying that MOA hasn’t resulted in your death you obviously never play GW2.
Length of play time doesn’t equate to skill.
Also, keep in mind the Empowering Mantras doesn’t affect phantasms.
That is against a single target that doesn’t move though. The phantasm uses the equivalent of the WAR whirlwind GS attack right? That won’t hit more than once or twice if the enemy is standing still and not against a wall.
Why Scepter CD +50Condition Damage Skill? Confuions is drastically underpowered in PvE due to enemies not hitting abilities very often. Is it for the block? If so I think you are wasting the trait. Other than that it looks like a pretty normal phantasm build.
Actually, I am not so sure about this being a bug anymore either. Yes it doesn’t hit as hard as it used to but I think they just lowered the damage. I was doing HoTW yesterday and when we stacked up for the Ice Guy after the troll a simple cast of iZerker hit all the targets and with my set up for at least 2k~4k damage. I hate to say this since everyone else seems to be against it but I don’t think he is bugged. I think they just lowered the damage on purpose and that he is meant to be used in more AoEish type positions since he is the only Phantasm that has an AoE attack.
This sounds like a bug that will be ninjaed soon.
Moa Morph is so ridiculously easy to dodge or evade. If I even actually use it in PvP i have to immobilize or knock down before I use it to even have a chance of the enemy not having a chance to avoid it.
I’ll give it a shot, and let you know. Thanks for all the help btw, I don’t know why I’m so pressed for a good scepter build, but I will find it!!
I think the best bet for a scepter build with the way confusion sucks in PvP would be to go with a mass clone production build with the conditions on death traits and shatters. Leave phantasms out of the equation and only use the for a little addition here and there and don’t worry about shredding them.
(edited by Hexxen.7216)
I think you are wasting your trait points on the retaliation traits. You do not have the power to make retaliation damage hit hard enough to be more than a tickle. I also think your phantasmal haste is a waste as the iSwordsman doesn’t need it cause he attacks plenty fast about your iWardens are not going to be hitting hard without some help from another ally to help give unique conditions. The iWarden base damage is based on power which as I said you are lacking.

How do you feel about this trait set up? Take 15 out of illusions and the 5 out of inspiration and put 20 into domination. 3 reasons: Empowered Illusions to give your illusions a 15% damage bonus and Crippling Dissipation which because of your scepter Auto attack replacing a clone every third swing it will mesh nicely with Debilitating Dissipation. The extra power will also give your phantasms a bit more bang in their attacks.
Not a lot of guys play Elementalist
Source: Notice how a lot of the Eles are female (and human)?
Most those female humans are men.
Again, not looking for how to beat them. I am looking for the build that yall think was probably used. I don’t care about how to beat them I want to make one cause it looks fun.
The wings sit really low on the back on my asuran. I really like the idea but they need to be up around the shoulders and not middle of the back.
Your build looks nice but it is definitely not what this Thief was running. She was for sure S/D. I am not looking for a build to beat it I am looking for a build that yall think might have been hers so I can make it for my own Thief. I do not play thief really just happen to have one leveled and wana annoy people to death in WvW.
I see a lot of people saying Veil is a utility elite skill. I don’t see it. The only time it comes in handle to actually do a surprise attack is placing it right in front of a keeps gate before running outside. The stealth is crazy short so you can’t really use it to run away. Because the stealth is so short you can’t really use it to stealth you when running at a keep or camp for a surprise cause you would have to be too far away from it for an opponent to not see you.
I totally agree it needs a massive CD reduction and a stealth increase. BUT I would also rather have our bugs fixed first.
Wells: The wells feel underwhelming at times as support skills. Where Null field just strips all conditions and boons in a second, lasts long, is ground targeted and has a shorter cool down then well of power, I can’t help but feel that there is no real point in taking wells.
This may not change your opinion in the matter, but Null Field only cures one condition & strips one boon per pulse.
Didn’t seem that way when I used it. It stripped them all in under a second. not all at once, but it was under a second. Mesmer is my second Level 80 and the one I use most often when I’m not on my necromancer. It is possible that it doesn’t feel like its only 1 condition because combat feels quicker with a mesmer.
It is one condition and one boon every second they have just never corrected the tool tip. Trust me all us Mesmers wish it was instant.
Faced a S/D theif in WvW yesterday. Easily the most annoying SOB I have ever faced. He was picking us off one at a time testing who was weaker and then focusing. He took 3 people down of a 6 person group. He never killed us but he downed us till we evnetually left cause we realized what he was actually doing was delaying us while friends took a camp. It was bloody brilliant. I want to know his build. I did a theory craft and thing this might be what it was.
I am sure many of you will say this play style is worthless but it was so much fun trying to get this guy and I can’t imagine how hard he was laughing at us running around with out head chopped off.
Please help. ^^ It was high mobility and stealth with what seemed like low crit.
How are you doing damage? You shatter recast is long because of only ten points into Illusions. Your condition damage is low so that won’t make the enemy run in fear. You have average vit and other then Mender’s purity no way to remove conditions so that is a major weakness. I assume you took Scepter/Sword for the two blocks and yes that will let you live longer but I just don’t see how you kill anyone with this. If you are going with iWarlock damage then you are missing out on the Inspiration minor trait that gives 15% damage and the Domination Adept Major trait that gives 15% damage.
I think you tried to go too middle of the road and left yourself with a build that might delay the enemy for a bit but other than that will not accomplish much.
If you are looking for a tanky build, which is also what I happen to love play, try out my Retaliatory Phantasm Build.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-Retaliatory-Phantasm/first#post2077169
If you want tanky but not phantasm based you can try Pyro’s Immortal Build which is more based on your damage.
(edited by Hexxen.7216)
White Black and Red for me I wish I could change my spells colors to a deep blood red.
To the OP:
Also, another reason we are so fast to tell you and sometimes in not so nice ways, what is wrong with the builds is from your titles of your posts. “Ultimate Hybrid” “Defining GC”. You realize how arrogant those titles are right? Especially when the builds you propose aren’t all that “ultimate”
Added in more VIT and took it down to 51% crit chance. I have never used a build that worked around a crit hit sigil so I don’t really know how much crit chance is enough. The condition damage is still only 1100 though.
You don’t think my condition damage is high enough to do enough damage?
I know it doesn’t reduce the CD. I was saying if you have the right amount of CD reduction for summons the PHaste isn’t worth much cause you can resummon so fast which is always a better situation for those o kitten and just in case moments. ^^
You already said in your video, that most of the damage comes from your illusions. But you’re skipping Phantasmal Haste (Illusion X). For a phantasm build, this is must have. 7% more damage for iZerker. 22% for iDuelist. If you want damage, try this: PvE Phantasm-Build
10 left points for either inspiration (utility) or domination (if you want to use gs)Phantasmal Haste is a joke ability. The mob is dead too fast or they get killed too fast especially since I doubt this build would be taking much toughness to make them more survivable. Take 15 points out of illusion and put 25 into inspieration for the three best minor traits mesmers have all of which boost phantasms including a 15% damage bonus and constant regen. This also gives you access to glamour recast down and focus reflect if you want.
I already said that focus reflect is a good trait, if you need it you obviously go for it.
I am not sure if you want to say, that the enemy or the phantasm lives not long enought to make phantasmal haste a viable trait. But if the enemys are so fragile, I would prefer a shatter build and if your environment is so hostile for your phantasms, that they die fast, I would prefer a shatter build, too, since 150 vitality won’t make a difference.
The VIT wont make any difference since they don’t inherit that. But take more toughness in gear so they live longer and give them the 15% damgae boost that stacks with the 15% from the domination trait line and it is all around better. Phantasmal Haste is a waist when you have the right amount of CD reduction and actually it just sucks all together. ^^ But we wont see eye to eye so no reason to continue this discussion.
The Build: http://tinyurl.com/ConditionManager
I have been leveling a Necro for some time now and deciding how to build him in the end. I always used to play the “healer” class in other MMOs and thus try to stick to support based builds on my other jobs (mainly Mesmer). So I thought about the Necros amazing ability for condition removal and transfer and made this build to see what you all think of it.
The main idea is to either take condition from allies to yourself or to change over conditions to boons. Then using skills and sigils of generosity with the 60% crit rate transfer them to the foe or eat them with the heal. I am not worried about doing damage directly with this. Since they were so nice to give crit chance and condition damage the same trait line this would be a condition based damage build I think.
Is it viable?
Is it an interesting idea?
So on and so forth.
Mainly for PvE stuffs but I could see this working in small group play in WvW maybe but for sure not PvP I don’t think.
Anyway, yeah what y’all think?

To the OP:
This is a glass cannon build. It might not be bad in its own right but the reason you mention that you have not seen something close is because it is a selfish build where Mesmers truly shine from out utility. As for your interrupts, mobs in PvE that you would actually have to bother interrupting all get defiant so this build becomes very swiftly ineffective. Thx for giving the wonderful world of mesmer a try though. ^^
(edited by Hexxen.7216)
Just so you guy are aware, this has been the case with every other class weapon skill that works like your bounce for quite sometime. The Mesmer’s were an exception to the rule, and speaking from the rest of the community welcome to our world. It’s not a big deal, as every other class has been working under the assumption that this was normal.
Actually, it isn’t the same. Our minions don’t get stronger when they get might because they don’t actually have their own native power they use our power. So it becomes totally useless. That is the major issue.
Craft your Mesmer up till about 40 even better 50 and then PvE will feel much better.
Using the Magic Well that gives 4m of stealth.
This should be stickied. We have a similar thread on the Mesmer forums stickied so mods do this one too.
So I tested max toughness mesmer with heals and an idefender and he kills me before I really see him. Ask anet what to say to this video XD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k99BKVpBxXQ
This is why people complain. Imagine what he does to GC thief or any other non tank.
That was really bad play I am sorry to say. Why did you invis right at the get go and then just stand there? Why didn’t you bother having any mantras readied? Why are you using torch? If this is that unstoppable immortal Phantasm build you mentioned you did a horrible job showing it off.
Plus you went into a duel with your SoI and Mass Invis on CD.
I am sorry to say but if this is your level of play then no one is going to listen to you from here on out.
(edited by Hexxen.7216)
Before the confusion Nerf a confusion bomb mesmer and a tanky guardian was an amazing duo.
Then I was running around with an Altruistic Healing Guardian while I was on an Immortal build and that worked good.
Now I don’t play in WvW because being on a T2 server roaming is just pointless cause I will just get zerged eventually.
Temporal Curtain has long been that way that it doesn’t stack with any other form of swiftness. This was done a while ago to make it so people just didn’t run back and forth to stack up swiftness time.
Not receiving from other sources though with a swiftness from SoI is new to me though and I might say that you are mistaken but I have not use the signet since this last update so I wouldn’t know but the temporal curtain isn’t a bug just Anet screwing us.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-Tanky-Phantasm/first#post2077169
Check out that. It is my tanky phantasm build that I use and is crazy effective. Thanks to the tankyness and huge retaliation hits from having so much power I often fight 1v2 and win and thus break the dueling stereotype.
Given that Condition Mesmers were never in a great spot to begin with and have received a number of apparently unintended nerfs, I’d really like to bring this to a Dev’s attention.
If only they cared. >< I have never played a free to play game before but I still think they make plenty of money from gems to hire a few more people if all this neglect is just low staffing or give them selves a bit of a raise if it means they will actually work.
Coming from a Mesmer who has been looking into playing with ranger. (I can’t find any of your guys build guides someone make a sticky that organizes them like we did for mesmer. PLEASE)
Ranger especially the massive Regen build is easily the most frustrating fight for my Mesmer. It is simply never ending battle.
Seriously, though I would love for you guys to organize your guides so those of us wanting to try the ranger can find them. ^^
I don’t really feel/notice the impact either. They wanted to stop the way that we could use one clone to do two shatters which was a bug and this was the answer. I mean if you pull off a mindwreck and then hit decoy and want to daze then I could see the cooldown of a single second being a slight annoyance but I agree with Alissah that it isn’t that bad at all.
This along with the new clones can receive bounces even though might doesn’t seem to be properly upping their damage I would say that the Greatsword for Mesmers is just as dead as the Scepter so Sw/P Sw/Sw or Sw/F and a Staff (but the staff doesn’t give us all our boons now if it goes for a clone instead so………..) ><
Full DPS for the easy dungeons:
Still really good damage but much more support and group utility for the 20+ fractals:
